Olive Garden Italian Restaurant
1891 Ventura Blvd, Oxnard, CA 93036, United States
Service was just terrible. Went there recently because we didn’t feel like a heavy meal that night but were in the mood for breadsticks. Got the unlimited soup, salad, and breadsticks with intent to also get a dessert. I know we weren’t splurging but Olive Garden is known for its salad and breadsticks and this is a legit meal option, so I think we still deserved service. We were sitting in a section that only had two occupied tables. The other table was a slightly larger party and they got the server’s near exclusive attention. We had to flag her down to get the refills to our “unlimited” soup. (We only got one refill, btw. It’s not like we were taking advantage. And, yes, we were very polite.) Had to ask for more breadsticks after being brought more soup, and it seemed as though we’d asked for something unreasonable. Our second round was stale, like day old ones had been reheated and a little burned, and a smaller amount. Never got more salad or drinks. Server wouldn’t even look at us while serving the - again - *one* other table. It was not busy at all but I would’ve needed to stand up and shout to be served, which is ridiculous. Eventually, we just wanted to leave. Paid on the table top machine, no dessert, and just left without the server even noticing. Of course I left a decent tip because restaurant owners put the onus on us to pay their employees in this country, when they’re meant to manage the profit from us paying for our food to do that, but I did so begrudgingly. Second time I’ve had horrible service at Olive Garden seemingly because I wasn’t spending enough money. The previous time, the server actually scoffed and asked my friend and I if that was all we were going to order. (Soup and salad for lunch.) When we said yes, she actually rolled her eyes and barely served us the rest of the time. Thought it was a fluke, now thinking it might be a consistent policy to not waste time on people not spending enough. Don’t have it on the menu if it’s a problem. And everyone deserves a little respect.

Panera Bread

My boyfriend and I both ordered hot soup and were given plastic spoons. Thats tacky and dangerous because plastic spoons can melt in hot soup. This restaurant use ti offer real utensils. I dont know why they got cheap. Their prices arent cheap. Plastic spoons served with hot soups is very tacky.

Urbane Cafe
1750 E Gonzales Rd, Oxnard, CA 93030, United States
We have been going to Urbane Cafe for many years. We were happy when they opened a new location on Gonzales Road in Oxnard. We enjoy the freshness and quality of their food. The staff are great, and we eat there, or pick up to go food 2-3 times a month. In the last 8 months when we order the Cafe Salad we've been wondering why we are paying for a salad that has mostly lettuce with a fair amount of chicken, but hardly any, or none of the Feta cheese, pear slices, walnut pieces, or avocado slices. I spoke to the general manager about it one evening and he said corporate had just informed them that they could start adding more of the pears, avocado, etc. to the salads. I told him that was good, because we had decided we weren't going to pay full price for a chicken and lettuce salad with little or nothing else in it. He assured me that was going to change. Well, It's been the same for months now. Picked up two Cafe Salads tonight, hoping for the best, and it was chicken and lettuce, 2 tiny pieces of pear and avocado, no walnuts or feta cheese. Nothing has changed. Will be getting salads where we get what we pay for. Other than the salad, everything else we order there is good.

Birria Mi Rancho
715 S Oxnard Blvd, Oxnard, CA 93030, United States
Absolutely delicious!!The food is probably the best of its kind that I have tried. Everything is perfectly tasty including the rice, beans, and handmade tortillas!! ?I'm not an expert in birria at all but this is the first time I try it and actual enjoyed it! Each bite was absolutely flavorful. The broth was on point, the birria was cooked well, the handmade tortillas enhanced the flavor. There is freshly chopped cilantro & onions along with salsa varieties available too.The staff was efficient, friendly, and welcoming! The place is small but super clean and in order.Already planning my next visit!Whoever is cooking in this joint knows exactly what they are doing! ?

La Jenelle is amazing!! I loved the Mexicali Bowl, the flavors and textures were absolutely perfect. I could eat it every day. More than that, Sochi went absolutely above and beyond to take care of me and my partner, who has a nut allergy. We were happy to just get something for me and go elsewhere to pick up his lunch (he's an omnivore), but Sochi made him a special dish and went over each ingredient to make sure he felt confident that nothing had cross-contamination from the cashew products they have in their kitchen. We really felt the love!

Julians Aguachiles
155 E 7th St, Oxnard, CA 93030, United States
We had dinner at Julian’s Aguachiles this evening and it was absolutely delicious. We found street parking just outside the restaurant and no wait to be seated. The exterior to the establishment is nice and clean as is the inside which is a plus. We were greeted by wait staff who took great care of us throughout our visit. We were given freshly made corn tortilla chips and salsa which was good. We prefer very hot salsa and were not disappointed with what they brought out for us. We enjoyed Caldo de Albóndigas (meatball and vegetable soup) and Camarones “La Diabla”. The caldo came in piping hot as it should be. The flavor to the soup was perfect, vegetables cooked to perfection, meatballs were sizable and the flavor was what I expect from those cooked by a Mexican grandma. The soup came with a side of onion, cilantro, lemon wedge and freshly made corn tortillas. We also had Camarones “La Diabla” which were accompanied by white rice, garlic bread, side salad and french fries. The spicy sauce which accompanied the shrimp was plentiful and was thoroughly enjoyed with every beautifully butterflied shrimp. The rice was well cooked with just the right amount of flavors. I appreciated the staff being attentive without being overbearing. The owners of the establishment made their rounds as well to thank customers for dining in. Over all from location, food, service and cleanliness inside and out they get a 10/10 from us and have gained our business. We look forward to visiting again.

Ramen Izakaya NoHo
10829 Oxnard St, North Hollywood, CA 91606, United States
This place is a hidden gem - my wife and I were starving so I found this spot not to far away from an appointment we had, and we were blown away by the service, and the deliciousness of the food! The ramen was, no kidding, the best ramen Ive ever had. Now Ill be the first to tell you that Ive not had 100s of ramen before, but I do enjoy some ramen every once and a while. This ramen has given me a new craving that I will be coming back for to this spot and Ill also be bringing friends and family here as well. My wife loved her dish, and we both left full, happy and with smiles on our faces. The staff is so friendly, brought us our food timely, were so professional, were genuinely kind people and I wish other restaurants would copy their model of hospitality.Ill add that the night after we dined here we went to the NY Times Best restaurant in LA, a Thai spot that I wont mention the name of, and it was NOTHING in comparison to this place. If youre sitting in your car, starving, just go here, youll be glad you did!

The 1901
740 S B St, Oxnard, CA 93030, United States
TL;DR --> a bit annoyed, food mostly good, bar downstairs is a winnerFound this place while browsing Google Maps looking for places to eat not too long ago. Saw The 1901, went to the website, and I was intrigued. Oxnard could use more places like this, and there are few restaurants in Oxnard that Ill actually go to sit down for service. We gave it a shot for a Saturday night at 7pm.Now, its on Google Maps as The 1901. The website is all about The 1901 for the speakeasy and the restaurant and the catering. Its the first time in 13 years of living in the area that I went to this area actually, so I knew nothing of the place. So, when we arrive via Lyft, I see a big sign at the bottom of some basement stairs that is emblazoned with 1901. OK - thats where the bar is. Wheres the restaurant? Theres a sign that says La Dolce Vita on the corner of the building. Walk to the other side, and we can look through an open door into a kitchen; obviously not the entrance to The 1901 restaurant. We walk back around the other way, and theres stairs to the door of La Dolce Vita with more signage. Where the ____ is The 1901? We arrived the same time as another couple, and they were also walking around trying to figure out where The 1901 restaurant was located.WELL ... The 1901 is La Dolce Vita. Im sorry; Im not up on all things happening locally to know that it was turned over. But, if youre going to launch a new restaurant and you go to the extent of having a nice polished web presence, but you cant/dont/wont put up new signage at your actual physical location that replaces the restaurant that is no longer there ... ???? ... well, color me perplexed and annoyed for walking around and eventually going into the bar to ask where The 1901 restaurant is!!!Finally, inside and seated, we were fortunate to get a corner table inside. However, the lighting was awful. Some accent lighting on the walls, but one overhead ceiling lamp was the main lighting for the room. Ceiling is painted red with cream colored walls. It simply could be done better. I dont want to really feel as if Im sitting in someones great-grandmothers living room.Service was slow. We waited 15 mintues before someone brought bruschetta. Water came after that. Perhaps short staffed? It seemed like the ladies waiting on tables were also sharing hostess duties. We also brought our own bottle of wine, and it wasnt until just before dinner that it was asked if we wanted it opened. We didnt want it opened right away, but it wasnt even asked. We didnt see a manager caring to guests and staff. Staff dressed in black, but wait staff wearing hoodies?Good management seems a weakness.Bruschetta was not very good. Calamari was decent; breading and seasoning was quite nice but the squid itself was a bit chewy. Potato crusted halibut was very good. Pork loin was good except for too much gorgonzola. Whomever is cooking the sides vegetables needs to be promoted, because the side veggies were cooked to perfection ... aspargus, squash, and zuc. We didnt order dessert.Downstairs in the bar ... great! Great atmosphere. Good live music. Cocktails were nice. Service was good. Actually, a place that Id go out to on Saturday to meet up with friends for a night out.Rating is really only for the restaurant, because the downstairs bar is 4.5 stars. Ill probably go back to the restaurant to give it a second shot for improved service, perhaps better atmosphere, and hopefully a menu that evolves and gets better.

Xielo Artisan Desserts
212 W 4th St, Oxnard, CA 93030, United States
I've been a regular customer for months now, and I can confidently say that Xielo Artisan Desserts is an excellent café! Not only is the menu varied with delicious options for all palates, but they use high quality ingredients, have wonderful presentation, and keep surprising you as you continue to visit! The owner, Juan, humbly shares that his family who put together their recipies are the artists, and essentially he's just the business side making it available to people. Well their family has been in the food industry for many years tracing back to Mexico, and they have recipies that his grandmother made 60 years ago! My favorites are the Berry French Cream sweet crepe with extra BFC, the albondigas soup (best I've ever had), and my custom cajeta & lechera, light ice, extra coffee frappe! Five honorable mentions are the guayaba y queso empanadas, the cajeta con nuez sweet crepe with a scoop of ice cream on top, the monte alban sweet crepe, the requeson, and the cafe de olla (can you tell I have a sweet tooth? ?). The café has a relaxing atmosphere with the nice music and window-shop seating, and has been a nice place to do work, watch a movie on my iPad, or have interesting conversations with people in the shared seating area. Now, above all of this is their impressive customer service! Early on I was welcomed como familia (like family), and they have continued to make me feel like an appreciated customer in several ways. The owner Juan, his father (also Juan), his mother Aracely, his cousin Cynthia, and one of their main employees Iselda have all been great, whether on the phone or in person, remembering my usual order, asking how I'm doing, or handing me my order with a smile ??. Stop by this wonderful family run business; enjoy the tasty food and drinks, the hospitable family feel, and experience part of their heritage! You'll be glad that you did ?

Jonahs Kabob
12461 Oxnard St, Los Angeles, CA 91606, United States
This was our first time visiting Jonah's Kabab. It was a late in the evening and I was pleasantly surprised that they were still open. The two owners were very welcoming. They were helpful in helping me figure out which combo would be best for me. I ordered combo #3, Jeff's plate with cabbage salad, and a side of chefs falafel. All of the food was delicious. Very fresh ingredients, the chicken was cooked to perfection with the perfect about of seasonings. My husband is raving about the garlic sauce that was on the chicken breast wrap. The special sauce and the hummus were all tasty and fresh. My plate was the “Jeff's” that is the chicken breast pieces-WOW is delicious and tender. The falafel was moist on the inside and crispy on the outside- seasoned exactly how it should be. The portion sizes are generous. I have found my favorite restaurant! We will definitely be back again. I highly recommend Jonah's, you will be pleased with any of their combos. Thank you for a wonderful dinner and your friendly smiles?
