Lizhou City Restaurant
1771 Decoto Rd, Union City, CA 94587, United States
My recent visit to LiZhou left me with mixed feelings. The restaurant had a typical Chinese ambiance, complete with oriental decor. The menu offered a standard array of Chinese dishes, but the flavors were but nothing exceptional. We ordered appetizers Chicken Corn Soup, Beef Dumplings, Chicken Wings, and Spring rolls, for Entrees I ordered Chicken Fried rice, Kung pao Beef, Salt and Pepper Shrimp, Chicken Chow mein, and Broccoli Beef.Spring Rolls were used pre-made frozen ones, as it doesn’t seem to be made in-houseAll dishes seemed to be more saucy rather than a little dry in terms of sauce. The pricing was reasonable. In conclusion, while LiZhou isnt terrible, it didnt leave me with a desire to return. Hopefully, if I am in the area, i will give it a shot again.

Chicken Pho Ga 88 Noodles Soup & Rice

Pho Ga broth is light and refreshing, not as herby as I would like but still pretty decent. The second bowl was Horfun with fried chicken leg on the side. For the fried chicken leg be prepared to wait as they make it fresh. It was really hot and juicy when it came out freshly fried. I'd recommend letting it sit for about 5 min or so and let the noodles soak in the broth more before digging in!

Taqueria El Taco Loco
104 Union St, Nevada City, CA 95959, United States
Wow! Mexican food perfection! I ordered the tostada mixta with octopus and shrimp as well as 4 quesabirria tacos with dipping broth. Every single thing we ate was incredibly delicious. The most impressive thing to us besides the freshness was how every single ingredient was discernable in the dishes. Sometimes a single ingredient will overpower a dish and will obscure the flavors of the other ingredients - not here! Amazing! Even the corn chips were crispy, light, and had just enough oil to fry them. The salsa bar has about ten different salsas and foods. SO fresh, SO delicious and vibrant. There were about 6 seafood dishes that Ive never heard of before! This place will delight your taste buds! Very friendly and helpful service.

Mala Town
1737 Decoto Rd, Union City, CA 94587, United States
Really disappointed. We came in around 8:30. After we placed the orders, we went to get some sesame paste but it was out. We asked them to replace it. They said we can sit at our table and they will bring it to us. However, five minutes after our food is ready, they came and told us they are out. To be honest, it's impossible that a malatang place is out of sesame paste. They were too lazy to make it or they were trying to cut the expenses by a dollar because they don't care our $50 business. Their soup tastes nothing but spicy, so that sesame paste is really important. We had to take them home to eat it with our own sesame paste. Make sure they are not out of it before you place any order!YGF tastes better anyways and never out of sesame. I'll rather drive 15 minutes more to there.

Greens N Grills
31804 Alvarado Blvd, Union City, CA 94587, United States
Disappointing Second Visit - Mediocre Food ExperienceRating: ⭐⭐ (2 stars)I recently visited Greens n Grills Mediterranean restaurant for the second time, hoping to recreate the exceptional dining experience I had during my initial visit. However, I am disappointed to report that the quality of the food has drastically declined, leaving me with a lackluster impression. To start off, the falafel appetizer was a major letdown. The falafel balls were half cooked, resulting in a mushy texture and an unappetizing taste. It was clear that the kitchen staff did not take the time to ensure the falafel was properly cooked before serving it to the customers.Additionally, the homemade sausage I ordered had an unpleasant rubbery texture and lacked the authentic flavor I had expected. It was a far cry from the succulent and flavorful sausage I had enjoyed on my previous visit, leaving me disappointed and unsatisfied. The platter, which I had high hopes for, turned out to be a complete rip-off. The taste was overwhelmingly gamy, and the entire dish lacked any sort of seasoning or distinctive flavors. It felt like a haphazardly thrown-together assortment of ingredients, leaving me underwhelmed and regretting my choice. To make matters worse, the hummus served with the platter seemed old and stale. Its lackluster taste indicated that it had been sitting out for far too long, robbing it of its freshness and vibrancy. It was a disheartening experience, as I had previously enjoyed the creamy and flavorful hummus at this establishment. The only redeeming aspect of my second visit was the shawarma loaded with fries. The combination of the tender, well-seasoned shawarma meat and the crispy fries was satisfying, albeit the highlight in an otherwise lackluster meal. However, it was not enough to salvage the overall experience. In conclusion, my second visit to Greens n Grills Mediterranean restaurant was a significant disappointment. The decline in food quality, from the half-cooked falafel appetizer to the gamy and bland platter, left me dissatisfied. Even the hummus, which had impressed me previously, tasted old and lacked its usual freshness. I hope the management takes note of these shortcomings and makes the necessary improvements to restore the dining experience that initially attracted me to their establishment.

Niles Pie Company
32990 Alvarado-Niles Rd, Union City, CA 94587, United States
Read about this place so decided to try, I drove there Saturday morning 8/25/18 and got there right after they opened at 8:00 am, The front clerk was very amiable and welcoming. I bought 4 cinnamon rolls, 2 butter croissant, a large Dutch Apple Pie and Large Mixed Berry Pie. The cinnamon rolls were good, nothing spectacular and the croissant very nice, flaky and buttery but the pies, ughh ! I opened the box and the apple pie crumbly crust was sunk in and cracked exposing the apples below.in about 1/4 of the pie, OK I can live with that but the taste, Major disappointment, the crust was hard and not buttery tasting at all, the apple filling looked old had a greyish tone, dry no juices and was chewy in texture and not flavorful at all. It was lacking sweetness and seemed to be lacking in spices very very bland. The topping was same not sweet, not tasty at all. The mixed berry pie was the same, bland, hard crust, filling a bit sweeter than the apple but berries were gooey. The pies did not look or taste fresh even though the clerk pulled both pies of a rack with many others as if they were fresh baked. I threw them out and after spending over $40 dollars for both pies I was not happy. Will never go back and certainly steer people away.I felt ripped off as these were the worse pies I have ever tasted, Stay away !

Baldies Cafe

Place: Old-style american restaurant but Im impressed with the neatness especially their comfort room. Not really like a hotel-like clean but compared to other well known fastfood chains, this one is pretty neat. We dont even have to wait long.Food: Ordered Chicken Parmigiana. It comes with soup, the server chose for me because I asked which is better and its minestrone. It was really good. The sauce of the Parmigiana is sooo good. And the coffee is refillable.Staff: Very accommodating and helpful. She recommended which one is better and really pleasant to talk to. She smiled through the order taking which should be in every employee.Minus just 0.5 star because Im more of modern type and the chicken was not that tender but all in all, its was a really nice place.

Cm Hng Sandwiches
Alvarado Place, 32124 Alvarado Blvd, Union City, CA 94587, United States
I was craving some freshly made banh cuon and this place was the only place near the San Leandro, Hayward, Union City area that I knew had it. I went on a superbowl Sunday lunch hour and had to wait 20 min in a line that stretched past 2 more businesses. Everyone was good at sticking to the 6ft social distancing rule even without the presence of floor markings and didnt block the other stores entrances. They only allow one person ordering in the store at a time and everyone waits outside for their order. It was by no means a quick pick up and go situation as I had to wait another 20 min to get my food. Even those that just ordered 1 sandwich waited the same amount of time. Not sure if this is normal or just because they had a lot of catering orders that day. I ordered 2 #6 special combo which was $5 each and one platter of their banh cuon ($7.25 each for 8 rolls). I wanted to get their banh beo but they only offer those on Saturdays. The banh mi was nicely packed with enough protein in a light and soft roll. Their banh cuon was warm and silky smooth. Super happy with both things and cant wait to be back for more! Others customers suggested to call ahead to pick up as you get to cut the line that way - good to know for next time! Remember theyre a cash only business!
