Simply Thai Restaurant
8465 Elk Grove Florin Rd, Elk Grove, CA 95624, United States
I went here for my lunch break from work. The food is overpriced. I ordered beef larb with a side of sticky rice. It all turned out to be $13.53, but I added a dollar tip because the service is great. The waitress/cashier is very kind and friendly. The beef larb is good, but it was very sweet. Im sure there was brown sugar added to the larb. Personally, for me, I prefer unsweetened and savory food. Ive never had brown sugar in my larb, and that suprised me. The portion is also very very small. I work in a deli, and I can say that the serving size of the larb must have been 1/3 (5.7 oz) or 1/4 (4 oz) a pound of larb with 4 pieces of lettuce for $10. The sticky rice was perfect, but again, the serving size is very small. It must have been 1/8 a pound (2 oz) for $2.50. I could have eaten 4 of those. For me, I wouldnt come back mainly because the food is sweet and overpriced.

Gold Pops Gio Rolls

Gold Pops was a tasty find, right behind Dutch Bros on Sheldon. My wife found they had taken over the Louisiana Fried Chicken suite, and was excited to check out their very unique flavored ice cream bars. I was surprised to find an even MORE wide variety of drinks and foods, including crispy, golden, meaty egg rolls and a wide variety of milk teas, Thai teas, and Southeast Asian coffeea (with Boba and many other optional toppings, too!). We were drawn in by the front cashier area that doubles as a cold case filled with all of their tasty ice cream bars. We kindly asked for a coconut/pistacio, strawberry/lemon, spicy pineapple, and black sesame (I told you they had some WILD flavors). For drinks I grabbed a 50% sweet Thai green tea, and my wife ordered a 50% sweet cashew nut coffee. Both were spot on and authentic in taste. No powdery flavors or oversweetened syrups. Just rich, textured, natural flavors that blend very well with the house coffee and teas. The owner even greeted us and asked if wed like more sugar, but we kindly declined as the green tea and cashew nut spoke volumes. She instead offered up a free taste of the durian flavored gold pops. WOW! Taste so good i could smell the fruit in my memories. Lol. For the savory side, we ordered a 10-piece of the egg rolls. Some may call them lumpia, but these were LOADED with well seasoned ground pork, finely chopped carrots, and tiny clear noodles. They were evenly cooked crispy, golden brown, and they were VERY generous with the Thai sweet chili sauce for dipping.Overall Id rate their savory snacks a 4 out of 5?The ice cream bars were AMAZING! Creamy, rich in natural flavor, and not too sweet. 5 out of 5?The drinks were on point and authentic. They could be bigger for the price, so Id say 4.5 out of 5 ?Bring the family after soccer at the park across the way, or stop through for a quick sweet treat on the way home from work. Make sure you grab a tea and pop for the wife!

Thai Chili
8696 Elk Grove Blvd #5, Elk Grove, CA 95624, United States
Im ashamed -- Ive been here at least 10-15 times and Ive never reviewed it! Dont take it that way, TC (were on initial-name-basis at this point). This is one of the best restaurants in Elk Grove, and even Sacramento. EG got lucky on this one. With great food, fast service, and good prices.... You cant eat here enough!Atmosphere: 4/5-- This is nice place, situated on a usually busy Elk Grove strip mall. Parking in front is uncommon, but theres plenty of places a little further away; no worries.-- The restaurant itself is a modern. The layout inside a little unorthodox; when you walk in theres the main dining area and two tiny benches for waiting. Then theres the kitchen in the middle of the room, with another smaller dining area all the way to the left. Its never really used, and its just awkward. The dining area is considerably small.-- But other than that, the inside is fine. They even have good music playing, which is unusual nowadays. Its quiet and unobtrusive. Ive heard Nujabes playing once or twice!Service: 3.5/5-- Service here is hit and miss sometimes, actually. Theyre always polite, but sometimes understaffed (during busy hours).-- My girlfriend tried calming down two dishes once, and nothing was changed. They mightve actually made it spicier, come to think of it... We had so much cold water because of it.-- During busy dinner hours, it CAN be slow. Even pickup orders. And because its smaller, you might have to wait a little. Try to come during slower hours to take advantage of the service!Food: 5/5-- The food is delicious. Ive had lots of their dishes, and never really been disappointed. Their drunken noodles are delicious, along with their pineapple fried rice...oh man.-- Other delicious dishes are their duck fried rice, combination BBQ platter (its called something like that), Tom Yum, and various vegetable dishes are always great.-- Their desserts are great too, from their mango/sticky rice and fried ice cream...yes.Price: 4.25/5-- This place always has fair prices, and weve usually been able to keep a meal for 2 between $20-$28.-- I wish they had lunch specials...The best Elk Grove has to offer! Definitely food to be proud of, no matter the city.

Rao Thai Eatery
5650 Whitelock Pkwy #110, Elk Grove, CA 95757, United States
I typically go to Rao at least once a week whether I'm ordering out or eating in. I've never had any issues with the food or service until today. I ordered two pad thai orders via their online ordering system and received probably the worse service ever. I picked up my order: one I had requested to be spicy and the other mild. Once I came home and opened the plates, I realized neither were spicy like I had requested. Being someone who goes their frequently and orders the same dish, I knew my order was incorrect. I called Rao and spoke with “Bella” around 4 pm today. I told her I put in an online order and one order was made incorrectly. She asked what the issue was and informed her that one was not made spicy as I had requested. She told me that it is normal for it to not be made spicy even though I had requested it to be spicy. She said that I could throw some spicy sauce on it and it would be the same as being cooked spicy or next time I went in, she would provide me with a spicy sauce to put on my pad Thai. I told that in my previous experiences at Rao or any other Thai restaurants, I was never told to just “throw some spicy sauce in it”. Then she told me that the cooks will purposefully make it mild because people call and complain their food is too spicy. I told her that I have never had those issues and then she started interrupting me and cutting me off saying that there's nothing for her to do. I told her offering me hot sauce or making excuses does not compensate for my order not being made correctly. Then she said “so what do you want me to do? Obviously you think I'm making excuses about your food”. I said “ma'am I called to let you folks know my order was made incorrectly. So if you stop cutting me off…” and then she cut me off again and stated “I'm not cutting you off. You want the order again? I'll make a mild one..okay bye.” And hung up the phone on me. Then I called again and said “ma'am why did you hang up on me?” And she said “must've gotten disconnected” while telling the cooks I wanted a mild pad Thai. I said “ma'am, I told you my spicy pad Thai needs to be made again. Please stop cutting me off. I'm just asking for this to be fixed. You didn't even provide me an ETA”. And she said “I'm not cutting you off. You have to wait 30 mins, we can't expedite your order..we have others to serve first”. She was just so rude for no reason. I run a bakery and I have been stressed, working alone yet I would never be this rude to a customer. I will no longer be going to Rao. This woman Bella made me feel uncomfortable for asking for a mistake by the restaurant to be fixed even though I was asking politely. I didn't even ask for my money back. That is no way to act with a customer. Please support a business that provides better customer service.

Yum! My favorite dish here is probably salt and pepper prawns. It is delightful! Lightly breaded, with lightly cooked slices of onion and deseeded jalapeños. Oh, yum. Their salt and pepper tofu is good, too--I tried to take an order home and wound up eating it like popcorn on the drive home (it smelled so good that I couldnt resist). Chow fun, green beans in garlic sauce, oh, so many good things to eat here. Keep in mind, I grew up on Chinese food (grew up in Hawaii, live in a Chinese town), so I am picky. The one k8nd of weird thing is they dont have a pork section on the menu; the only pork Ive seen is char siu. I do recommend this restaurant. On the evening we went, it was not at all crowded (lots of take out, though), everyone was masked (except when eating), and social distancing was stringently observed.

Sit Lo Saigon
7405 Laguna Blvd #170, Elk Grove, CA 95758, United States
Me and my fiance came here on a rainy Sunday evening last minute after another restaurant was too packed but honestly, that was the best thing that could have happened because this place was SO GOOD. The service was very friendly and helpful. We got our drinks fast and then our food was on our table not long after. I love that they give you the option if youd like thin or fresh noodles. Theres fried doughnuts on the menu which is a must with pho. The broth is one of the best Ive tasted and they are very generous with the amount of meat they give you, this was honestly the first pho restaurant Ive ever been to where Ive had meat from beginning to the end of my meal, and I was very impressed. The interior was nicely done too, plenty of space and very clean. I also admired the Southeast Asian design, it made me very happy to see as a Southeast Asian individual myself. I appreciate when a business can showcase culture in different forms. I look forward to visiting this restaurant again when Im in town, I highly recommend it.
