Thai Paradise
141 N Atlantic Blvd UNIT 113, Monterey Park, CA 91754, United States
This is a five star restaurant. We came for Mother's Day and ordered 4 entrees. Literally everything was perfect. We didn't take pictures we just saw the food, it looked amazing, and dug right in lol. I highly recommend ordering the striped sea bass if you're sharing with a small party (we were 3) or not ordering much else. It's big. It comes with a sour-ish sauce with several kinds of onions mixed in. SO GOOD. The next winner was the Thai Paradise Beef. This was nicely seared and comes with an amazing sauce which I would buy if they bottled it up. The green curry with chicken at medium spicy was a perfect level of spiciness for us. The kind of spicy that if you only ate the curry it could be too much but since we ate family style it was perfect. The chicken in the curry was surprisingly soft and not rubbery. We also ordered the ong choy. It's a classic, nothing too unique but it was well cooked so that the stems were not overly soft and still had a bite. Our server was friendly, checked in on us just enough, and quickly got us our check at the end.
Pho Ga Bac Ninh
605 New Ave, Monterey Park, CA 91755, United States
Similar to the Pho Ga Dakao in Houston. Not too many places specialize in chicken so they have to stand out. Broth was nicely seasoned and full of chicken flavor so I did not add any hoisin or siracha as I normally do with beef pho. The ginger dipping sauce is perfectly balanced and goes very well with the ample chicken pieces. Comes out in a double walled metal bowl. Other patrons seems to enjoy their fried rice or chicken main dishes with gusto as well as getting stuffs to go. I got some spring rolls on the way out and they were dynomite. They got their chicken stuffs down pat. Cash only so hit the ATM if you want the horde to invade.
Thai House Express

I called ahead of time to ask if they took apple pay and was told by the person on the line that the restaurant did. When my party was done eating we asked where we payed with apple pay and, much to my dismay, found out that the store did not, in fact, take apple pay and by the same lady who had picked up the phone no less. They took my phone and asked that I go get money, demanding that my other party members stay behind, leaving me with no transportation options to get to my house. I had already agreed that they could hold my phone as collateral and not allowing a party member to drive me was unreasonable. My phone was worth more than the meal and I thought theyd be reasonable enough to understand that it was more than enough reason for someone to come back. As I previously stated, they were not reasonable and threatened to call the cops if anyone from my party left. After much arguing I was finally allowed by staff to go get money from my house. When I finally did return with my credit card I was told by an employee that they didnt take Discover. Then she tried the card, and, surprise surprise, the card went through and I was finally able to leave this oddity of an establishment. The mediocre food was not worth the hassle.

It is very disappointed experience to eat at Kim Kee noodle cafe in Monterey park.1.I asked for a cup of hot water, till we finished our meal, the waitress did not bring it to me.2. Next table, a man has continued coughing and sneezing then he walked into the kitchen to get the paper containers and plastic bag for 3 times without his mask put on.3. We ordered 3 dishes, a congee has waited for 10 minutes, pork kidney dish for 15 minutes, the beef tender with rice for 25 minutes. I asked why waited for so long she indicated that the machine was broken????4. Bad service and narrow place so your table is very close to next table.
Tommys Family Restaurant

OMG! Excellent! Recommend this place, hands down!Decided last-minute to try this place out. My work partner and I were working on a project nearby and were hungry but pressed for time. As soon as we walked in, we were hit with smiles from the staff, cooks and a happy atmosphere and vibe by the patrons. We were sat down right away by the super-sweet lady, promptly handed our menus and brought our coffee wed asked for! Awesome! We both ordered traditional breakfasts to include the usual ham, eggs, toast and the most amazing shredded potatoes cooked to perfection! We both wanted crispy potatoes and thats what we got. My partner got french toast and she said they were spot on. The coffee was hot, fresh and there was no end to the refills. The menu includes all kinds of Mexican dishes as well. If only we lived in the area, wed surely try them out!Eating area is truly set up as a diner. Very open, cozy and a variety of types of seating, including counter-eats-style. Nice family atmosphere is tangible! The staff chatting and interacting with the patrons is such a great vibe. Makes you feel like youre hanging out for lunch with family. The bathroom was the only thing that we could make suggestions about (not complaints). A fresh coat of paint, brighter lights, deep clean the floors and this would have been a five-star!Parking is pretty good, private/attached lot. Wheelchair accessibility seems okay too getting to/into the diner, and seating areas. As we were leaving, even the kitchen cooking staff gave us a wave and a smile good-bye. Now thats what I call customer-focused!
Mama Lus Dumpling House
501 W Garvey Ave, Monterey Park, CA 91754, United States
My favorite restaurant in the 626 area - the xiao long baos are amazing!I guess this restaurant doesnt have any noodle soup except for wonton noodle soup, so we were a bit disappointed. They do have more Asian dishes though. We ordered the crispy onion pancake again, xiao long bao, Shanghai style chow mein, the pan fried meat buns, and an order of the pork dumplings.Food came out quickly and I was very happily surprised that this location of Mama Lus had better and bigger XLB than the other location, like fellow Yelper John mentioned. It was juicier and even more flavorful! I also thought the onion pancake was better here than the other location. It was a lot thicker and had more substance and taste. We forwent the potstickers/fried dumplings as the ones from the other Mama Lus wasnt good. The dumplings were really good, too. There were only 8, but incredibly juicy. Mama Lus really knows their stuff on dumplings and XLB. Im not a fan of dumplings in general, but I really enjoyed the pork ones. The pan fried meat buns were okay, but too oily for me. Not enough bread in my opinion and I have had better. The Shanghai style chow mein was also good, but different than the other ones I have had. The noodles were more dry tasting and there were lots of other ingredients (mushroom, cabbage, onions, etc) that my picky sister did not enjoy. It wasnt too bad, though. And because this place is newer, it is more clean with a brighter atmosphere than the other location. I wasnt a fan of the chairs though. I couldnt get comfortable and kept trying to pull it up, but because it was more heavy and more of a bench, it didnt really move anywhere. We didnt visit this location at first because we had heard it was more expensive than the old location, but we found that it wasnt true (or if it was, it was just by a few cents).I am a big fan of this places XLB and green onion pancake! And definitely try the dumplings!
