Vanda Siam Restaurant
668 Sacramento St, San Francisco, CA 94111, United States
This isnt at all a bad Thai place, but it isnt exactly all that great either. Theres nothing that wows me about their food and it honestly isnt very memorable. However, being that this is at the edge of FiDi and a few minutes walk from my work, I tend to go here more than I would like.Theyre quick and relatively inexpensive.A word of caution for those who dont like their food spicy; their food can be hot hot hot! I asked for my Pad Thai to be spicy and all they did was cook it with chili flakes, which Im not a fan of.Overall, if youre craving some Thai food and want a quick bite, head over. Otherwise, Osha is tastier and they have a happy hour. :)Also, the servers can be a little rude. Dont expect a smile from them; ever.

Vientiane Restaurant

One of the worst “Curries” I tasted for some time. Only give a second star because other customers were eating their food. Mine was returned.Ordered a mild yellow curry and was served with something that looked like a green broccoli/cabbage stew. No protein, no potatoes et.When I notified the waiter he suggested I get a side of potato and protein and mix it myself. I respectfully declined his proposal and asked him to remake it as this wasn't even the base for what I ordered. 5 min later I get the same plate with just two pieces of protein and two potatoes added. Rice was the same and almost cold by now. It was clearly not prepared by a Thai chef.I asked for the food to be returned again and to receive my check. To my surprise they really tried to ask the full amount. Only after some debate was the charge dropped as I didn't consume anything. The chef never showed his face and only communicated from around the kitchen curtain. I see others had some good reviews here but I won't return.

Ruby Thai at Arden Fair Mall
1689 Arden Wy, Sacramento, CA 95815, United States
This place is the best thai place. Best spice in town. They go the extra mile on making more entrees no matter how close to closing unlike panda express. Where even 40 minutes till closing they wont fire up anymore. But ruby thai cares, theyll make things fresh on the spot and it comes at a great deal. The chicken tastes like smokehouse chicken, better than most bbq places, the habanero is delicious, always can go for more spice which they do, and their mango chicken, mmmmffff they know their stuff. Theres no tendon pieces or large pieces of breading when you bite into the meat. Its the best place in town and the staff are the greatest dudes. Theyre so chill and friendly. They dont mind the wait it takes for customers to sample or come back for their order, or anything. They represent customer service at its finest. Im they havent gone anywhere and i recommend this place to everyone and anyone. Go for it. Its amazing.

Phaya Thai Restaurant
4310 Marconi Ave, Sacramento, CA 95821, United States
***UPDATE: The owners of Phaya Thai sold the business on December 16, 2023. We were informed the recipes were also sold to the new owner, a lovely gentleman who also owns the market next door. They need a little more time to perfect the food; for now, we arent going here as often anymore.******I would beg & plead with Sactown Magazine to include this restaurant in its Best of the City issue -- this is some of the most delicious, consistent, beautiful Thai food in Sacramento. I am newer to the neighborhood, but this spot has been here for several years. Ive eaten here about a dozen or so times.Casey and his wife Ta, also the chef, run a tight ship as food flies out the door during the peak dinner hour. Casey is always warm and welcoming. It never matters how slammed they are -- he always presents a calm and professional demeanor when greeting you, taking your order, or bringing out food for takeout orders. As their popularity has soared with Door Dash and other food delivery companies, be advised that wait time can be considerable. If you call your order in, wait time can be as long as an hour and forty-five minutes. If you dine in, however, your order goes to the front of the line. Also be advised there are no paper menus if you choose to dine in. You can scan the QR code from the table, or if that doesnt work, you can take a look at the laminated menu above the cash register (photos posted with this review of the entire menu). The food is first class and looks beautiful on the large, white dishware they use. It is arranged artfully on the plate and is always hot and freshly prepared. I have tried several of the curry dishes and noodles -- they will cook it according to your desired spiciness (medium, hot, and Thai hot). The Tom Kha (soup) is my personal favorite (order the pot if your party is larger than 2), as is the Pad Thai. The atmosphere of the restaurant itself is warm and comfortable; there are no television sets in the room or loud music playing. Just about the only commotion is Casey fulfilling orders!Great place - neighborhood gem. Highly recommend!!

Ph King 2 Restaurant
6830 Stockton Blvd #180, Sacramento, CA 95823, United States
I was in the mood for a hot bowl of Pho and fortunately this craving overtook me while I was driving north on Stockton Blvd near Florin, a location surrounded by numerous restaurants offering this famous Vietnamese dish.Pho King is a small easy to miss restaurant just a stones throw away from its more famous rival, Pho Saigon. Years ago I visited this restaurant and it always stuck in my memory how good the food and service was. Tonight was no different.I was a little surprised to see how empty the place was right around dinner time but it was a weekday and customer count isnt always a good indicator of quality. The waitress immediately greeted me with a friendly smile and motioned for me to sit wherever I wanted. I knew what I wanted and ordered a small bowl of #6. The soup arrived piping hot and the plate of bean sprouts, jalapeno pepper and basil looked fresh and crisp.I immediately dropped the veges into the steaming broth and mixed them around with the noodles hiding underneath. It was now time to dig in. I grabbed my chopsticks and pulled out a giant clump of noodles. Yum! Sometimes restaurants make the Pho broth way too salty and I always am prepared to ask for a hot cup of water to dilute it. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that wasnt necessary this time. The savory broth had just the right amount of salt. The meat was tender and the tendon had just the right soft and slightly chewy texture.Pho King IMO maintains its rank as being one of the best places to eat Pho in Sacramento.

Ph Bolsa Restaurant
5815 Stockton Blvd #A, Sacramento, CA 95824, United States
I went there back in the day and had a great meal. When I went to pay (this was probably 20 years ago) they didnt take ATM and I didnt have money. The older lady who Ive always guessed was the owner told me with a smile on her face not to worry and pay next time. I came back with my wife and paid for our dinner and the lunch I had before. Since then Ive taken countless people, family and friends there. Its always been good and Ill never forget the kindness of that lady the first time I went there. My mother was always a big fan of the crispy pan fried noodles with seafood combination. Its hard for me to go back to this restaurant since my mother has died. Maybe Im afraid the older lady has passed too. Anyway I will always be a fan of Pho Bolsa.

Pho Bac Hoa Viet
3110 Bradshaw Rd, Sacramento, CA 95827, United States
Ive been frequenting Pho Bac Hoa Viet since 2010, but my last visit has caused me pause for visiting in the near future as they do not seem to take food allergies seriously. This is a cautionary tale for those with peanut allergies. I went earlier this week and ordered a bun thit nuong (pork noodle bowl salad for the non-viet community), no peanuts as I have an allergy. The sever must have forgotten to put the in the order without peanuts - which I do not fault them for as accidents happens. Where I take issue however is how the rest of the staff handled the situation from there. Again, I do not have any grievances with the sever who took our order, only the rest of the staff who were involved/kitchen.I notified the staff member who brought my food that I ordered no peanuts on the dish as I have an allergy. Important to note - I had taken off 1 of the 2 egg rolls from the bowl before I noticed it had peanuts in it. Sever brings back out the dish, sans peanuts. I start mix the food around and pulled 1 of the three shrimps off the skewer before noticing there was an egg roll missing, which seems suspicious if this were to be a new bowl of food. Upon inspecting the bowl more closely, the staff had only scooped off the peanuts and brought back the same bowl. I could visually see leftover pieces of peanuts. As the staff seemed pretty busy, I took the dish and walked directly up to the counter and asked them if they could fully remake it as I have a peanut allergy and could not eat this one as they merely scooped off the peanuts instead of providing me a fresh one. The woman at the cash register looked slightly annoyed with my request, but said sure and took the dish back. Very shortly, another sever brings out a new bowl. This time I decided to inspect it before even touching it. Immediately I noticed they placed the same shrimp skewer with only 2 left back in the bowl, which meant they took it from the peanut infected bowl and placed it on top of the fresh one. They also had left off the egg roll. While I understand times are tough and not wanting to waste inventory - this was not how the staff should have handled the situation once I stated I had an allergy. Had I eaten any of the food they had given me, it couldve had serious medical ramifications. So please, if you have any type of food allergy, be mindful of what they bring you and double check for allergens, even if theyve stated they remade it.

Ph Bc Hoa Viet
7600 Greenhaven Dr Suite 9, Sacramento, CA 95831, United States
My family and I have frequented this establishment for many years even before the current owners. Though the quality of the food is not what it used to be we have remained loyal customers. Today we received the worst service ever. When we entered today the waitress, who we have seen many times was extremely rude. The first thing she said to my daughter was you cannot bring outside drinks as my daughter had a juice in her hand. Now this we totally understand if this is the policy but it was the WAY she said and also the fact that my daughter has brought a drink before many and nothing was even said and it was never a problem. When she so rudely said this to us we told her we will leave and she rudely took her menus and walked away. I called back because I was so shocked and offended by her rudeness because as I mentioned before we have eaten there many many times and this waitress knows us. When I called back the same waitress answered. I asked to speak to the manager and she said the manager was not there. She was there a problem and I said I just had really bad customer service and she said oh yeah with the drink this made itcwirsw becausw she acknowledged that she knew she was rude! I asked for managers name and she said we dont give personal information I asked for her name and she rudely said Mary I then told her I was very disappointed at her rudeness as we have been there so many times in the past. I asked her if she thought she was being professional. She said I let you slide with the drinks before( mind you she never once mentioned it was a problem and if she had we would have totally understood and my daughter would not bring in her juice). I told her its not what she said but HOW she said it. She allowed three loyal customers walk out very unhappy and did not care. Never apologized for rudeness . I told her she was very bad for business. Mind you today we noticed that there is a sign on their door that says prices are increasing. If prices are increasing and service is very poor and quality not great this establishment will not last. I do not recommend it to anyone and this is from a loyal, very disappointed customer of many years. I hope Mary will read this and know that her customer service is unacceptable and that her manager is made aware as well.

Pho Vung Tau Bay
5880 Antelope Rd Ste 200, Sacramento, CA 95842, United States
The restaurant is small at least 10 tables. Self seated. Meun it short with no picture. Our waiter was quick to take our order. He bought our chilly & pickling jalapeños/garlic which it was not great. Jalapeños/garlic was too blend & sweet. Oil chilly wasnt spicy enough or have favor just tasted more like fried garlic in oil.We ordered p1 & p5 plus side of fried calamari. Fried calamari was dried & overcooked, blend & no salt. The first vietnamese restaurant, in 20+ years, serves tarter sauce instead of sweet chilly sauce. Our pho came out quick. Broth was disappointing. It didnt taste like traditional broth. Lack in favor. Needed to add a bunch of condiments to cover the lack of favor. Careful put in your side of veggies. Thai basil had a tiny worm on one of the leaves I just pick it off and put it on the side. Portion of the noodles & meat were perfect. Meats was tender. Tendon was on the middle-tough side. Never had tendon tasted that tough in any vietnamese restaurant I had eaten. This is more on the white vietnamese restaurant than traditional vietnamese restaurants. Lack in favors, overcooked on calamari & undercooked on tendon. Price is right for portion, but it is not traditional enough for me to come back.

JP Thai Kitchen
6004 Freeport Blvd, Sacramento, CA 95822, United States
Today was my family's first time visiting JP Thai Kitchen. I used the reviews to decide where we would stop, so I thought I should contribute after our meal.We were greeted by friendly staff members as we walked in, so great start. The tables and floors were all very clean. The meal was served family style. We had the fresh spring rolls with shrimp, chicken satay, cucumber salad, wonton soup, crab fried rice and chicken pad Thai. Everything was made to order, so they were able to leave egg out of the Pad Thai and the onions out of the crab fried rice when we requested. My daughters shared the sticky rice with mango but I was entirely too full for dessert. Everything we ate was EXCELLENT, though we all ended up having different favorites. I feel that the portion sizes were good, the quality was excellent, the prices very fair for what we got. As we left we were already talking about how much we look forward to going back again. I'd have trouble ordering something new because I liked what we had so much. You should definitely consider trying JP's.
