Thai Paradise Restaurant
3551 Camino Mira Costa # B, San Clemente, CA 92672, United States
Placed a phone order. Showed up and told them my name, young lady already looked annoyed. Asked what was in my order because it didn't look like mine. She immediately rolled her eyes and said it's what you ordered “dawn”. Perplexed, I said my name was John. She was already charging my card. Canceled the charge. Grabbed another order from the table and proceeded to charge me. I asked again what's in the bag, she proceeded to tell me my order. Two spring rolls and chicken curry. I asked for extra sweet and sour sauce, rolled her eyes again and went to go grab it but stopped and said that will be a dollar… I just spent 38 bucks and now I'm charged for sauce because prices went up “it cost money to make sauce”. This place has never been cheap and that didn't matter. Been in San Clemente all my life and have been going there a long while. This will be my last time coming to this place. Customer service was horrible. I don't need someone's attitude especially if I'm spending money as a consumer. Threw the food away and didn't try it. Negative energy in a restaurant is not for me.

Mongkut Thai Restaurant
212 Avenida Del Mar, San Clemente, CA 92672, United States
This is one of my favorite places to have Thai food in Orange County. Not only has one of the most authentic Asian dishes, but one of the best places to dine in, or to carry out. For years I have come and go, as I moved from San Clemente, but whenever I visit, this is the perfect spot to visit. They have a wide range of delicious dishes, made with passion and care. In this case I order a couple of appetizers, a rice dish, and three more entrees, and all of them were delicious, also their Thai iced tea, is to die forIf you're ever down in San Clemente California and looking for an authentic Thai restaurant don't hesitate to visit this jewel on the coast. It's a wonderful spot, you can check the beach after a great lunch here. You will not regret your visit. Until then I hope to return soon to enjoy my favorite place. Love my Thai food, and beautiful San Clemente ! :)

Burma Superstar

There is nothing more upsetting than being disappointed from a super hyped rating from a restaurant. Yes, just like anyone else, we had to put our names down and wait for about an hour or less to get a table for 6 which we honestly didnt mind at all since we were prepared for the long wait. We in fact enjoyed having a drink and some snacks at Bitter End which is 1 min from Burma. When our table was ready we were able to be at the restaurant in less than 5 minutes - what a winner! We get there and the first thing I noticed was how hot the place was - its a fairly small space and super duper crowded but surprisingly not that loud. Reading all the reviews on yelp, we shared a veg curry which everyone said was nice but i didnt try it, the tea leaf salad which was really fresh and lovely, the garlic chilly prawns which were recommended by the waiter instead of the pumpkin prawns and honestly the prawns were perfectly cooked but there was really an overload of garlic which one could only realise after the meal when all the smells come back to your nose (not so pleasant the aftermath), the chilly beef - im a bit puzzled on this one as I think we ordered lamb but it tasted like beef so not sure which one we got but it was really nice and flavourful and lastly we shared the catfish curry. The catfish was the one I was looking forward to and it ended up being super duper fried and dry, so dry you couldnt scoop out the flesh from the skin :( - what a sad meal that was. Ive had catfish curry before At Champa Garden in Oakland Laotian style and was superb and in another thai restaurant on grand Ave and it didnt disappoint so i was looking forward to the next satisfying experience from Burma, but I was left sad...I didnt analyse the food and how it tasted then and there because honestly between the 6 of us and the great energy at the restaurant we were having such a nice time and despite the fact that there was still a long line outside no waiter pushed us to leave eventhough we were done with our meal, had paid the bill and was just sitting and chatting away - I thought this was nice of the staff. So when I was trying everything I really enjoyed all of it but after I went home my tummy started rumbling and had a bit of loosies so least to say i didnt feel well and didnt sleep well through the night and since got few shivers I got panicky that could have been food poisoning - but luckily I was fine so not sure what happened there but definitely was something from the food and perhaps too much of the garlic.Overall, Im glad I visited this highly rated place but honestly I was let down. I just cant get over that overly fried catfish :( and how hot it was inside the restaurant! Im still gonna give this place the benefit of the doubt and try it out one more time, If i ever have the time to wait that long.

Samila Thai Restaurant

Ive never left a food review before but this place is just THAT good. Ive tried my fair share of Thai food places in San Francisco, and was always a bit disappointed at the noodles and curries (I was spoiled by some amazing Thai food where I grew up before moving to SF). This place hits the nail on the head, though. The pad thai is perfectly seasoned, has a great noodle texture and a healthy serving of veggies/tofu/peanuts/etc. (subjectively, of course). I tried the Eggplant dish the other day and I couldnt believe that eggplants could be that buttery and delicious. Lastly, the food is always hot and prepared on time for take out!Definitely recommend, Im glad its in my neighborhood! Please support this restaurant, especially now!

Pho Thanh Binh
107 Via Pico Plaza, San Clemente, CA 92672, United States
We decided to pull over to eat to wait out traffic. It's conveniently located off the highway with great reviews. This place is very affordable for a place that's near the beach. It did not sacrifice taste even though it's far from the Vietnamese community. They offer 3 sizes for pho ranging from $11-$15. We got a small bowl of chicken pho ($11.50), small house combo pho ($12), side of oxtail ($8), and fried spicy chicken wings located under “side” ($15). It came with rice! The pho was decent, the oxtail was on the smaller end and not as tender but it had so much meat! It was like eating ribs.I found it odd the spicy fried chicken wings was not under appetizer but under sides. Different than the garlic wings listed under appetizer. It also came with rice! The wings were jumbo. Such a great deal. It was a wet marination and not spicy. We would definitely stop here again in the feature if we need to wait out traffic.Plenty of parking, outdoor seating possible and they have a private room for large parties.

We saw this pub across from one of our favorite Southeast Asian restaurants on Clement Street. This place has a fireplace lock screen TV, a well stock bar, and plenty of casual seating. Really nice ambiance. We got to watch the Giants game on the big screen and the craft beers are awesome.

Pagan Restaurant
3199 Clement St, San Francisco, CA 94121, United States
Pagan Restaurant was absolutely amazing. While down at the beach in northwest San Fransisco we were searching for a place to grub and came across this Burmese/Thai eatery. From the outside its not much more then a hole-in-the-wall, but the experience could not have been better.Pagan offers 2 menus and a blend of Burmese and Thai food. After looking at some reviews we ordered the Palata bread (Burmese menu), that turned out to be a flat bread made of a croissant like consistency that was heavy and amazing. If you ever see it somewhere, order it.For food we went to the Thai menu. The dishes are share size so order accordingly. We started with a soup called Tum Yum with Prawns. This is a spicey lemon grass soup that was absolutely amazing. Again this is share size, and with a couple bowls each, we did not finish it.For main course, we ordered Thai Spicey Pan Fried noodles (flat noodles, a dish similar to drunken noodles), and Cashew Chicken. Everything was super flavorful and extremely satisfying. One unique thing about this place aside from high food quality was food presentation. Each dish is worried over in the back before being served. The sides of the plates are wiped perfectly clean and arranged before being brought out, giving it the feel of a high end, high price restaurant (see pictures). A beautiful and delicious meal that I would recommend to anyone who finds themselves in this area. Portions are huge, prices reasonable and experience perfect. There is a ton of business coming in and out as clearly this is a popular choice despite its small size. For desert we had the Fried Banana and Icecream which was also delicious, but made differently then my wife was used to so she wasnt thrilled. I dont think it was made poorly, just different then expected.I cant say enough about this place nor do it the justice it deserves. You need to experience it.

This was our second time here and we're so glad we came back. Rob the chef is so thoughtful in every culinary decision and it really shows. We got the fried shrimp and sweet potato appetizer which was perfectly crispy wrapped inside a baby lettuce leaf. Rob mentioned asking his supplier to harvest the shrimp a little younger than usual so the skin would be softer than normal and you can tell with each bite. Our second course was the chow fun which at first wasn't my preferred choice (sounded too basic) but the group was hoping for something veggie and noodle-y so I rolled with it. I'm so glad I did. Unlike typical chow fun dishes, the noodles were rolled into little bite sized chunks and served with cubes of fried soft tofu that melted in your mouth with each bite. The dish was topped off with a mustard soy sauce and a sprinkling of tiny mushroom cordyceps and baby book choy. Finally, our main was the special: scallops and shaken beef served with pan fried rice topped off with an egg and Vietnamese staples cha lua and lop sung (different types of sausage slices). The dish was served with a side of baguette with pate mixed with chili sauce and a laughing cow slice of cheese topped with fried garlic. This dish was absolutely decadent. We found ourselves literally scraping every last piece on the plate. For dessert we had the pot de creme with salted whipped cream and the creme brûlée. The creme brûlée had a very thin crunch to custard ratio, making each bite perfectly satisfying. The dude clearly gave this a lot of thought. The pot de creme was the winner here. Not too sweet and just enough salt in the creme to make it addicting. In terms of price and portions, we were a group of 4 and split everything 4 ways. We had a couple drinks and the total bill came down to $50/person after tip which honestly is totally reasonable for what we'd consider a fine dining experience. The portions were pretty huge and we found ourselves needing to either take a walk around the park or immediately go home and take a nap (we did the former). The first time we came we got the 2nd place pho. We almost got that again but opted to try something different and were so glad we did. Tell everyone about this place because this needs to become one of those long term SF staples. It's that good.
