Mai Thai
13700 Doolittle Dr, San Leandro, CA 94577, United States
I recently ordered takeout from Mai Thai restaurant, and it was a delightful experience from start to finish. The green papaya salad was refreshingly crisp and bursting with flavor, a testament to the freshness of their ingredients. The chicken satay was equally impressive, perfectly grilled and seasoned to perfection, making each bite a savory delight.Beyond the delicious food, I was impressed by the cleanliness of the restaurant and the exceptional customer service, even for takeout orders. The staff ensured that everything was well-packaged and ready for pickup, and their friendly demeanor made the experience even more enjoyable. Moreover, Mai Thai offers affordable prices without compromising on quality, making it a fantastic option for those craving authentic Thai cuisine without breaking the bank.Overall, I highly recommend Mai Thai for both dine-in and takeout experiences. With their delicious food, cleanliness, excellent customer service, and affordability, they truly stand out as a top-notch Thai restaurant worth returning to again and again.
Lotus Leaf
277 Parrott St, San Leandro, CA 94577, United States
I used to eat here 1-2 times a week on my way home from work for years— it was a a wonderful, quiet, relaxing place to unwind, have a glass of wine and a wonderful meal after a hectic day.The waitresses were friendly and attentive, knew what I always ordered, and the service was very quick. But things changed drastically in the beginning of January 2023. Apparently the wonderful women who had worked there for many years all retired and were replaced by very young men who have never worked in a restaurant before and who have no clue about the word “service”. To get a refill on my drink, get extra peanut sauce, get another napkin, etc all have required a visit to the desk to get service. These young guys never made rounds of the tables to see if anyone needed anything else; they should be working in a fast food joint! What a shame as the food is wonderful but it's all spoiled by the poor service. I have stopped going there and now go the extra block to Soleil in Pelton Plaza. So I give Lotus Leaf 5 stars for the food and 1 star (being generous) for service. So sad.
A1 Pho
2089 E 14th St a1, San Leandro, CA 94577, United States
Management changed (yet again!) a couple of months ago, and now its Pho La Sen here at this location. We like what theyve done with the decor- there are unobstructed windows all around and its bright and open inside. Most importantly- their pho is tasty again! We got the P1 (combo with lots of meat variety). There are no size choices- everyone gets the same standard bowl. Portions and prices are nothing to write home about (pretty standard across the board) but the soup broth is tasty and goes well with the cilantro and other veggies provided. Its not too heavy with meat flavors, but well seasoned and yummy. The uncle at the counter was welcoming and attentive, as well. :)Give them a try! We look forward to coming back the next time we have a craving for nice, filling soup!

Top Hatters Kitchen and Bar
855 MacArthur Blvd, San Leandro, CA 94577, United States
We are a family of three including a 13-yr-old. We popped in having only heard of Top Hatters and driven by it so many times. No reservation, just a walk in and we were sat in minutes, even had a choice between inside and out. Got lucky. We sat outside. Its a concept menu thats not very kid friendly--but we managed. I dont mind QR ordering, though Ive only seen this ordering method at comedy clubs. The menu is very imaginative, and descriptive, though its tough to know if it will be enough food to satiate. The raw oysters were medium sized with an overwhelming taste of citrus--not extraordinary. Our small plate was tender meat bites wrapped in Viet herbs with a dipping sauce (see photo). These were a great way to get the palate jump started. The Kohlrabi Salad offers fresh flavor and crunch as well. Our main dish was a medium-sized Rockfish (see photo). The presentation is impressive, and the flavor pulls through from skin to bone. We were impressed how meaty and hardy the fish was, made for great fish wraps using the herbs and lettuce. Of all the sauces, the tamarind paired best with everything. Our 13-yr-old loved the short rib, especially the ramen that it comes with. We got lucky, but the short rib is likely the only thing Id say is kid-friendly.The front of the menu explains in great detail why they choose to use a QR code for ordering. One of the reasons stated it makes for fewer ordering mistakes. However, we were given the wrong side to our fish and I was left scrambling to my phone to double check. They fixed it, but it was strange I was the one who had to check the order.Service was very friendly and we were checked on by multiple people. The food and drink were well made, flavorful, and satisfying. However, as others have mentioned, it is tough to justify the price point when there are other options nearby that offer more variety.
Hanoi Chicken Noodle
13720 Doolittle Dr, San Leandro, CA 94577, United States
My husband and I ordered from here once on Doordash and it tasted good at home so we wanted to try it again in person. When you walk in, there is a cashier station where you order what you want, then they will tell you what table number to sit at based on your party size.I got #1 Hanoi's special with rice noodles and my husband got #4 Chiu Chow with clear noodles. We also got eggrolls, the Chinese fried doughnut and freshly squeezed orange juice. The eggrolls were meh and had quite a bit of taro so I wasn't a fan. The fried doughnut tasted fresh and was very crispy. The freshly squeezed orange juice was great and definitely fresh.Onto the main reason why we came, the noodles! The broth was super flavorful just like when we got it from Doordash. The shredded chicken was very nice, tender and cooked just right. Typically when I think of shredded chicken in pho ga, it's mainly over cooked chicken breast but this was not the case so I'm thankful. It was a great mix of dark and white meats as well. They also had fish balls, fish cake and char sui in there as well and they were all great. My husband enjoyed the #4 as well but said that he prefers #1 for additional toppings. Oh also they have this chili oil with garlic sauce and it's legit crack.Highly recommend this place for their noodle soup. Very flavorful, broth is nice and clean and meat is cooked perfectly!Pro tip, don't get rice noodles for delivery. It does not travel well.
Chi-EZuka Stores
15110 E 14th St, San Leandro, CA 94578, United States
Great experience! It was my first time shopping here or any African store in general. Im Southeast Asian but one of my favorite dishes is Egusi Soup and Fufu. I used to get my fixing at a restaurant in Oakland, but recently their quality went downhill so I figured I can try to make it myself. The store is quite large for a mom and pop store and they have been open since 2007. I went in around noon on a weekday, and there was only a few other people in the store shopping and one young woman working at the register. I forgot to grab her name but she was so kind and welcoming! She even recommended me another place nearby called Golden Safari (which I must check out now), and made great conversation. They had a pretty good selection for African food basics, and multiples of each from different brands. For example, they had several brands of Fufu powder, several different brands of Palm Oil, etc. They also had deep freezers full of goat meat, chicken, tripe, other stew meat. They were out of iru when I was there, but the young woman gave me an alternative, ogbiri paste, which is very similar. Even gave me tips on how a little goes a long way.The only thing to complain is perhaps the prices since it was on the higher end, but I completely understand since there is so many import fees and inflation is screwing us all over. From my research, this place is better than Man Can Wak in Oakland. Such a great experience here, that I can oversee that and can definitely see myself back here again.
