ZaZa Grill Mediterranean restaurant
446 Manor Plaza, Pacifica, CA 94044, United States
The food at this cozy Mediterranean restaurant was superb. The chicken and lamb kabobs were perfectly grilled, tender and bursting with flavor. The savory saffron(I think) rice had a mouth watering buttery taste, complementing the meats beautifully. The hummus was creamy, rich and topped with olive oil.I had the pleasure of meeting Zaza who personally served us. He was humble, customer service-oriented and very friendly.I cannot stop talking about how great my experience was. From the elegant decor as soon as you enter the restaurant to the restroom, Zaza has kept the need of the customer first. Zaza has not even forgotten the minor conveniences in the restroom such has flosspicks, cotton balls, etc.Overall, a delightful dining experience with delicious Mediterranean flavors that left me craving for more.

Soul Rice
683 Manor Dr, Pacifica, CA 94044, United States
Not gonna lie, Im impressed.A restaurant dedicated to fried rice and a few dudes that go with it? Tell me more!As you can see from the picture, big ol portions. They thinly cut the meats (I got beef and Chinese sausage) and the mushrooms(I forget what kind) are a nice touch. I wouldve preferred a darker mushroom like shitake, but with the truffle it prob wouldve been too rich/umami forward.Speaking of truffle, its got good balance -never overpowered. *I do have a higher tolerance for that rich taste so Im bias*I wouldve loved bigger cuts of meat and more egg, but Im not hurting over it either.Heads up - the pork chop is more like tonkatsu at Japanese restaurant rather than Hawaiian - thin crust/pork cutlet, and thinly cut. Very good, I just wish it had tonkatsu sauce lol.Coming back for the chicken wings next time?TLDR solid 4.5/5. Very solid meat/rice ratio, balanced flavor, generous portions. Worth the 5 stars for putting out a truffle rice thats? and committing to good fried rice.

I searched on google for best food near me and this place showed up. I love Japanese food, lived in Japan for 3 yrs, and was excited to find an “authentic” Japanese place after a King Low Tide hike. It was difficult to find, in a small complex, no street signage. When I arrived the Mama-San approached me stressed, unpleasant, scowling saying “did you make a reservation, we can’t serve you, we are understaffed”. I was still believing this would be the 4.6 rated food experience. The room was 1/2 empty. I was just one person, who would order quickly. She scowled, walked away and the sweet young man approached me, apologized and I thought we were now off to a good start. The place has the “old world Japanese small restaurant” vibe, with lots of old articles about the place on the wall. I thought I’d found a hidden gem.Everything looked pretty unkempt, dusty and forgotten—but, still optimistic that the food was going to be special, I pursued. I ordered the sushi sampler, unagi, pickles and miso soup. The last 2 items were solid. When I flagged Mama-San over to hear about the pickles I got more barking and scowls. “We use shiso!” Was all she could say. I told her how delicious they were, but she had decided to be rude/mean/unfriendly to me, although she was fawning all over her regulars. The sushi sampler was the worst dish I’ve ever seen or tasted. I should have walked out. It had really old, freezer burned, terrible octopus, avocado rolls, all brown, past it’s prime (no good chef puts a vegetarian item on a sushi sampler, this was a cheap move, in addition to the shock that any sushi chef worth his nori would let spoiled food be served to a guest). There was farmed salmon and something white, maybe tuna. It was so bad I felt sorry for the place, and the exceptionally nice and kind server trying to provide a better experience for me.The unagi was good, altho the teriyaki glaze was too sweet.I saw the older man come to the kitchen in his street clothes, but he wasn’t overseeing the quality that night.I spent $76 and left feeling confused that the art of Japanese hospitality was abducted by an inexplicably rude owner who, from the moment I arrived, was mean, cold and out of line. I can forgive most missteps, but the sushi sampler quality was beyond horrible. The sweet young man brought me lemon sorbet, a kind gesture after a weird and unpleasant experience. Thank you to him. I hope this was just one bad night, but serving such poor quality fish, and the mean owner left a bad taste.

Soul Grind Coffee Roasters
5400 CA-1, Pacifica, CA 94044, United States
This is a conflicted review. On one hand I sincerely adore this place, and on the other I wish it were less crowded. This is to say that I am selfish, opting to intentionally nerf my review with the caviat of wanting to reclaim the space.I come here to spend time and money to chill, read, write, glare, and charm, and the floor plan as it is cuts through the soul of the store like an atmospheric river.I cant help but also feel for the staff who have to cross the river to buss tables, and the occasional battle royal that is seating.Again I do love it. The Thomas the tank engine lookin bean cooker right out in the open. The fireplace. Cool mountain bike. Watching surfers. THE FOOD! And of course the brew. Its truly great. But the floorplan is something of an issue that a skilled architect could really nail down, perhaps to the degree that Soul Grind could be both visually iconic and efficient without sacrificing the ambiance. Its as though this place wants to remain a hang out, and yet it suffers from its own popularity by being too delicious not to drive a crowd. I believe it could strike a balance between comfort and economy, if that were its intention.Thats admittedly ambitious and opinionated. Maybe start with the outdoor seating area? I mean it could be better. Or maybe Im really just asking for my own little table in the loft above the register. Thatd be peak. But what do I know? Thats just like, my opinion man.

Oceana Market
200 Eureka Dr, Pacifica, CA 94044, United States
Juan Carlos, the manager is unprofessional and improperly trained on how to approach disabled people and our service animals. Ask if they are a service dog, dont assume and say we dont allow pets. My dog, despite my being very frustrated by this ableist, ignorant man was calm, quiet, didnt jump, pull or bark. I had my child with me. I have a neurological disorder that brings muscle weakness, fatigue, brain fog and comes with Crohns, among other issues. Stop demonizing people with invisible illnesses who dont look disabled enough for you. He didnt like my well deserved tone when I told him that isnt how you askHow dare I correct you. Im incredibly embarrassed and upset this is how a much older person in a mangerment position thinks to approach disabled people and our companions. Im a tenured dog trainer additionally, I have a right to train my 8 month old service dog, I dont legally need a vest that anyone can buy. There are also no breed restrictions for service animals, I can tell my dog being a black Doberman around 70 pounds was a factor in this persons mind, I can feel the bias and prejudiced projection. In the 4 months Ive had him, of the many stores, restaurants, cafés and pharmacies Ive brought him to assist me or do an exercise, this is the only person to force me to leave, because he didnt like that I affirmed and asserted myself. Disabled people are tired. He tampered with an important training exercise and errand. They denied me my right to access. This place needs sensitivity training, an ADA fine and a new manager. I shop here whenever we visit, but will never come here again. This place is unsafe for disabled people, and this manager, Juan Carlos is clearly misogynistic and hates disabled people who stand our ground. Disabled people dont deserve to be tone policed or owe you politeness when you clearly lack professionalism or proper training on our matters. You were very rude, Juan. Learn how to ask people questions instead of assuming, accusing and embarassing us in public. I hope your ignorance and incompetence doesnt cause others to suffer. I will be filing a claim against this store asap. I left in tears in front of my kid. Stress worsens my symptoms, so I feel much worse than I did earlier today. This was a case of obvious abuse.

Dinosaurs Sandwiches
50 Eureka Dr, Pacifica, CA 94044, United States
The sandwiches are quite good and the people are friendly. Why only three stars? Im rating the business as a whole and the environment is not customer friendly. Its been open for a long time but looks like they just opened two weeks ago with clutter all around. Ugly florescent lighting and uncomfortable seating. Look, its a sandwich shop, I dont expect white table cloths or flowers on the tables. I dont even appreciate those things. However, just a little bit of effort would make it good enough to eat there instead of take away. In fact, I have in the past said to myself, I could go for a Bahn Mi before I drive down to Mt View but I dont want to spend that much time there so I stopped at 5 guys despite being in a Bahn Mi mood. The worst part about visiting for me is being forced to hear hip hop type music from the kitchen as I wait for my order. The kitchen workers might like it but as a customer, its says to me We dont really want you to eat here. But, Im a middle aged white guy, maybe Im outside their demo. There are plenty of styles of music that I enjoy, but would never subject my customers to as they ate.All that said, damn good Bahn Mi sandwiches. Ill keep ordering for take away.

Kennys Cafe

High Celery Content, Low spiceWe ordered 3 dishes from the dinner for two. On the plus side, the fried rice alone was enough for two of us. However the vegetarian egg rolls were heavy on celery (which I dont care to eat). The egg rolls were a bit unusual in that they are regular wonton wrappers that were then breaded and deep fried. The crispy outer shell was a nice change, but the oil it was fried in had overtones of a gamut of other things fried in the same oil. And the filling was about 45% celery. In addition, this preparation method left the inner egg roll limp and oily.We also ordered Mongolian Beef and Chicken in Spicy garlic sauce. We asked that both be prepared hot and spicy. Both were rather bland. Both also had a high celery content. The beef in the Mongolian dish was tender, but tasted like it was originally intended for a stroganoff dish - it tasted very much like Worcestershire. The hot and sour soup starter was tasty. Could have used a bit more heat and sour, but we ate it all... which we cant say about every rendition of that soup. The specials the night we were there included prime rib. The menu caters to Americans, and that is probably a clue that the Chinese food is toned down, too.The service was good and attentive, and the portions very generous... but way, way too much celery and not enough heat in the red letter spicy dishes for my taste. Extra spice can be added from a squeeze bottle of what appeared to be red pepper paste, but it proved very heavy on vinegar. All in all the soup and pork fried rice would have made a decent meal for two, but the bland, celery-heavy main dishes were disappointing.

Gorilla Barbeque
2145 Coast Highway #1, Pacifica, CA 94044, United States
Dear vegetarian lose this tab, this restaurant is not for you! Even though Gorilla barbeque has a vegetarian meal, all the mouthwatering smells and meats will make you an instant meat lover !It is a small warehouse container basically, where they sell some serious food. You can either pick up and take it home with you or you can eat it just right next to it in the outdoors where theres something like a small picnic area.Forget about their sandwiches and just opt for their meats. I had the cheese steak sandwich, the meat was great but overall the sandwich was a bit dry. My hubby had the chicken and ribs. The chicken was a bit undercooked (still red from the inside) but he loved the flavors of the few bites he got to eat.Everyone seemed to be enjoying their food, even the only vegetarian with us.The highlight of the place is by far the mac and cheese it is the best one I had so far. As it is a barbeque place I wish they barbecued the corn instead of boiling it... The complimentary bean and rice was really good and they are extremely generous in giving you a lot of real good barbecue sauce.

Taquera La Perla
330 Palmetto Ave ste a, Pacifica, CA 94044, United States
Everyone was SO NICE!GO HERE! I insist. The food is really delicious. Chips are crispy. Salsas are fairly mild. If youre in the mood for some delicious Mexican cuisine, you absolutely must check out this taco restaurant. From the moment you walk in the door, youll be greeted with a warm and friendly smile from the staff. Everyone was SO NICE, and it really made the experience that much better. As for the food, its absolutely amazing. The chips are crispy and perfectly seasoned, and the salsas are fairly mild but still pack a punch of flavor. I highly recommend trying out a variety of the different salsas available, as they all have their own unique taste and level of spiciness. The tacos themselves are out of this world. They offer a wide variety of fillings, from the traditional carne asada and al pastor to more unique options like grilled pineapple and crispy tofu. No matter what you choose, you really cant go wrong. The flavors are bold and the portions are generous. In addition to the tacos, there are also plenty of other tasty options on the menu. The burritos are massive and filled with all sorts of delicious ingredients, and the quesadillas are a perfect blend of gooey cheese and savory fillings. If youre in the mood for something lighter, they also have a variety of salads and bowls available.Overall, this taco restaurant is a must-visit. The food is really delicious, the atmosphere is laid-back and welcoming, and the staff is absolutely top-notch. Trust me, you wont be disappointed. Go here! I insist. You wont regret it.
