If you miss dining at Indian restaurants (or want to get an almost authentic Indian dining experience), this is the place for you! The ambiance resembles closely to most casual dining places in India. Its a pure vegetarian restaurant with just enough options to please the customers. Theres enough seating space but do expect some wait time. They have different Thali to celebrate different special occasions. We tried the July 4th Thali that had mini samosa, 3 different curry, dal, rice, chapati, gulab jamun, raita and mango lassi. The quantity was not as much as youd expect in an Indian Thali but it was okay for one person. We also tried the Ragda Pattice. Everything tasted close to an average Indian homemade food, no excess oil or masala. One of the best places for Indian food in CA.

Title: A Vegetarian Haven in the Heart of SunnyvaleRating: ★★★★★ (5/5)I had the absolute pleasure of dining at Merit Vegetarian Restaurant in Sunnyvale, California, and the experience was nothing short of exceptional. This culinary oasis in the heart of Silicon Valley delivers an impressive range of sumptuous vegetarian and vegan fare that does not compromise on flavor, creativity, or satisfaction.First and foremost, the Pad Thai is a must-try. This dish, a classic staple of Thai cuisine, has been masterfully recreated to suit a plant-based diet without losing any of the traditional zest or flair. The tangle of noodles was cooked to perfection, beautifully interspersed with an assortment of colorful, crunchy vegetables. Tossed in a tangy tamarind sauce that balanced sweet, sour, and umami notes, it was garnished with crushed peanuts adding a delightful crunch and depth to the overall flavor profile. The Vermicelli Curry Soup was another revelation. The soup, a hearty amalgam of vibrant spices, was comforting and packed a robust flavor punch. The vermicelli was delicate, offering a contrast to the powerful curry broth. The complexity of flavors built with each mouthful, warming and surprising the palate in equal measure. It was the perfect amalgamation of spices, textures, and warmth. Finally, the Papaya Salad served as a fresh, zingy contrast to the other dishes. It was a riot of flavors and textures: the crunch of the shredded unripe papaya, the tanginess of the lime, and the mild heat from the chili combined to create an explosion of flavors in the mouth. It was vibrant, refreshing, and the perfect palate cleanser. One cannot review Merit Vegetarian without mentioning the warm and hospitable staff. They were attentive without being intrusive, always ready with a suggestion and ensuring we were comfortable throughout our dining experience. In conclusion, Merit Vegetarian is a true gem in Sunnyvales culinary scene, a sanctuary for vegetarians and vegans alike, and a tantalizing surprise for meat-eaters. It is a place where you can discover that vegetarian cuisine can be hearty, delicious, and leaves you fully satiated. Whether youre a long-time vegetarian or just curious about plant-based cuisine, Merit Vegetarian is definitely worth a visit.

Delhiwala Chaat Restaurant
590 Old San Francisco Rd, Sunnyvale, CA 94086, United States
We stopped over for a quick bite on a weekend afternoon.Tried Aloo Paratha. It was fantastic, very flavorful served with enough curd and some pickle. The size was good enough for the two of us since we werent much hungry at the time. But normally, one would be quite fulfilling for one person. We mainly chose to visit because it is a vegetarian restaurant. They have an amazing assortment of quick North Indian and street food. They seem to have low operational cost since there was no table service. You order at the counter and pick up when ready. You are served in disposable plates and are expected to put in trash cans while leaving. They have focused on food quantity and quality instead. Good strategy!Id suggest to order multiple items and share instead of 2 people ordering the same dish. We will be back for Chole Bhature and Chaat options.Edit: We visited again last week and enjoyed the following:1. Chole Bhature - The best I had in Bay area. So fluffy, light and delightful. Chole were the typical black ones with perfect amount of spices.2. Paneer Chole Bhature - This was unique for me. Paneer stuffed Bhature!! Must try..3. Gobi Paratha - Im already a fan of how big and well cooked their parathas are. This is a good one to try.4. Dahi Batata Sev Puri - Too good !!Edit # 2: We visited again and tried Bread Pakora and Lassi along with some of whats mentioned above.Edit # 3: I have been here a few times now and dined outdoors for the first time. Its much better from pictures point of view! Added new ones to the review.Pakora was very oily so I would suggest to share instead of one person consuming the whole thing. Delicious one to try though!**Follow my Instagram food blog @veggie_central for more reels and pictures!

This is one of my favorite vegetarian restaurants. The owner has opened up many restaurants in the Bay Area and sold them off. He knows the magic formula and assembles a winning team. The food has a North Indian slant, but delicious vegetarian food from all can be had. Enjoy!

Pav Bhaji Hut

Came here for the first time in May after seeing so many good Google reviews but it was just OK…and quite an overpriced just OK at that for a vegetarian dish. Not sure what the hype is about but for the price I was expecting much more in both taste and quantity. The best part? The “cold pressed” pineapple juice was tasty. The watermelon juice was not--completely bland. Maybe dont sell fresh fruit juice from fruit thats not ripe/not in season yet). The food itself tasted OK but was far too small a portion for what we paid, even with the giant sides of chopped onion. (Who needs that much raw onion?) The bread was fluffy and bland as its meant to be...good for soaking up sauce, if only there were more sauce to soak up.I get that bhaji might not be common here so maybe thats what makes this place unique and why some people rave about it. But overall it didn’t live up to the hype or the price. You could go to most any Indian restaurant, buy a *single* dish of the cheapest vegetarian item on the menu, add paneer to it, order some naan, and you’d get the same amount of food (or more) for two people for less money. And while you’re at it, order a few lassis for the price of one potentially bland, expensive juice.Would I go back? Nope. Should you give them a try? Maybe if paj bhaji is something youve been craving and want to try theirs. But if youre just looking for tasty Indian cuisine at a reasonable price youll find many other more -satiating options out there at a better price.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting the Delhi Chat food truck in Sunnyvale, and I must say, it was an unforgettable culinary experience. The food was incredibly authentic and reminded me of the delicious street food I had in Delhi during my travels. The price was also very reasonable, especially considering the quality and quantity of the food served. The menu had a variety of options to choose from, and each dish was prepared with utmost care and attention to detail. From the spicy and tangy chaat to the mouth-watering chole bhature, everything was spot on. The flavors were bold and vibrant, and the dishes were made using fresh ingredients that enhanced the taste even further. The staff at the food truck were also very friendly and hospitable, adding to the overall experience. The service was prompt, and the food was served hot and fresh, just the way I like it.Overall, I would highly recommend Delhi Chat food truck to anyone looking for authentic North Indian food in the Sunnyvale area. Its a hidden gem that offers delicious food at a reasonable price, and I cant wait to go back and try more dishes!

This place is excellent! The food is so delicious and theyre incredibly creative with their vegetarian/vegan options. We sampled an array of vegan/non-veg dishes. I only took photos of some of the dishes, and some were half eaten by the time I took a photo because it looked too good to wait!We ordered the vegan bao, vegan empanada, and the vegan calamari taco. I would happily order all of those again. The calamari in the taco was so yummy... I believe they use fried hibiscus? We also ordered the queso as an appetizer which was delicious too. From the meat options, we got the pollo panuchos, quesapollo, and the cochinita pibli taco. Out of the three, the quesapollo was the favourite, followed by the pollo panuchos. The meat dishes are quite meat-heavy so keep that in mind when youre ordering because theyre filling. We had an excellent experience overall! Service was good and the food came out very quickly. We will be eating here again. I really love places that take their vegetarian options seriously and put true effort into making their veg dishes as good, or even better than their meat ones. This restaurant is a gem, and I think it is going to become incredibly popular soon.
