Dong Nguyen Restaurant

Came here because I was looking for a place with good Hainan Chicken and this was one of the first options available in the area that I was searching. I always went to the 168 Market here but I never noticed this particular restaurant. I have ate at the Vietnamese restaurant nearby, but never here. I decided to give it a try after a friend recommended it and it did not disappoint. When I first came in here, it smelled Vietnamese and knew I was immediately at the right place. The people who served me, and I assumed owned the restaurant as a family spoke both Vietnamese and Cantonese so I knew they were Vietnamese/Chinese. They were really friendly and understanding after I realized that the restaurant was cash only. I had to run to 168 to get cashback. Now for the food. I ordered a Hainan Chicken Rice and my friend ordered the Cubed Steak with Red Rice. They were both extremely delicious and the ginger and sweet sauce they gave me was excellent. They even went around and refilled both my water and sauce a few times. I demolished my food, and my friend who ordered the steak with red rice said hers was really good as well.I would definitely come back here as the food portion are huge and the prices are reasonable.

A wise woman once said the best memories are not made in the bedroom but are made around the table. And I’m gonna make one today. Lol. Hehehe. Without further adieu let’s start this food review. Pho N Mor is a small Vietnamese restaurant located in small plaza a shade to Costco in Alhambra. They have a wide variety of food and drinks. After years have passed I finally had the audacity to check this modest restaurant. We came here on a late afternoon for a late lunch. I perused their menu and ordered the Soy Cajun Chicken and a Thai Tea. The Soy Cajun Chicken, is a stir fry soy chicken with onion smothered in cajun sauce over rice. It’s very flavorful and a lil spicy. And Thai tea was smooth and sweet. I must say their food and drink were great. Staff, a young white male, was obsequious, nice and followed health protocol. Service was mildly fast. Prices were reasonable. Parking was easy. In this voluminous review, I’d say we had a good lunch experience and food. Overall, I highly recommend this place if you’re in the area.
Pho Super Bowl Alhambra

I only came to this restaurant because another Vietnamese restaurant I wanted to go to was too crowded. This place serves one of the worst Shrimp Spring Rolls Ive had. You can refer to the picture included on this review. The Spring Roll consisted of 95% noodles, 1 piece of lettuce and tiny pieces of shrimp. The Chicken Skewers were awful as well. They came out cold and looked extremely unappetizing. The rice dish was mediocre. The restaurant could have at least cut the shrimp cake or served the dish with the traditional Com Tam Broken rice.Although the service wasnt bad and parking was easy, I was really unhappy with my experience here. The Dessert was free, but they should have just kept that in the kitchen. I wont be coming back here.

I live in the Bay Area and have had many Vietnamese restaurants. I was in town and saw this place by chance. It turned out to be the best Vietnamese food Ive ever had! Now Im looking for an excuse to take the 2 hour drive to Sacramento to eat here again! I had the vegitarian crepe, and my daughter had the chicken pho. We also shared an order of vegetarian spring rolls. All 3 I highly recommend!
Pho May

This is a family-owned restaurant located near the post office on Alhambra Ave. Plenty of free parking and wheelchair and kid friendly. The owners are very friendly. They have great Vietnamese sandwiches and all kinds of rice, noodle and pho dishes. veggie or meat options. All are excellent and very tasty. Also recommend the shrimp roll and spring roll appetizers. They just added a flan for dessert! So Yummy. Atmosphere is very casual but comfortable.
Savoy Kitchen

Rating Savoys alone for the Hainan Chicken rice, one of my favorite dishes and ways to eat chicken and rice, and Ill admit Ive only tried it once last year. I have been spending some time trying to find great versions of it outside Asia, ultimately with no success. Most versions lack any proper resemblance to the iconic South East Asian dish that it truly is, simply served as boiled chicken and white rice with some soy sauce and ginger or garlic mixed in on the side.So I finally decided to get to Savoys after hearing so much. Usually I dont rate food too strictly, but since Ive grown up with this dish in China, I cant grade it on a curve. In all honesty, I feel that Savoys version is at best a solid 7/10, since its not so bastardized. The chicken prepared isnt that flavorful or juicy, coming off slightly overdone, and not presented well, as you can see the sprawled, pale chicken skin in the picture. You do have the traditional three sauce spread of ginger oil, hot chili sauce, and a slightly sweet dark soy that is a tad too thin in viscosity. Perhaps most importantly, the flavored chicken fat rice isnt fragrant and aromatic enough, coming off as white rice with a very mild chicken broth taste. Is it tasty? Its pretty decent, but I definitely wouldnt say its amazing, especially if you have to take long trek depending how far you live. But I will say if you are a big HCR fan like myself, go at least once to try and compare. Perhaps it will always have its place in SGV lore. However, since then I have had the chance to try Cluck2go, which does a solid job for an even cheaper price AND they take card, no wait or lines too. Surprisingly, Mee and Greet in Palms has a nice version, which is a slightly more modern take albeit a bit pricier but it is located on the Westside. Id much rather go the distance for Cluck2go and am glad Mee+Greet is close by for me. Also I have yet to try Sidechick in Alhambra.I think the key thing for such a dish is taking the time to do the little things required and using quality ingredients to extract as much of the pure flavors as possible and letting them shine. Which Savoy does an alright job of, not excellent though. However, to their credit, Hainanese Chicken Rice is a simple looking chicken and rice dish that can actually be notoriously challenging.
Bnh M & Ch Cali

The former Carls Junior was transformed into a casual, no-nonsense Vietnamese restaurant a few years ago. Food taste, quality and price is average. The restaurant could be a bit cleaner both in the dining area, bathroom and kitchen.
Pho Saigon Pasteur
235 W Main St A, Alhambra, CA 91801, United States
A new Vietnamese food addition to the food street on Main Street in Alhambra. It was very convenient to park indoor behind the restaurant. The decor of the restaurant is very modern with industrial feel. the ordering menu is very refreshing as well. Dishes are arranged in types of food group. For pho, there are several popular items such beef combo, ribeye beef, oxtail and more. for rice lovers, BBQ pork and beefs are the most ordered dishes.Since this was our first time here, we wanted to try something different from the normal Vietnamese food. We got oxtail pho and burnt end BbQ pork bun.The oxtail pho came in two separate bowls with oxtail and soup in one and the pho noodle and soup in another. There meat on the oxtails were very tender and flavorful. The pho soup was quite good and authentic. Although the noodle seemed to be made from dry noodles, the over all pho experience was not too bad.The Bun salad was a bit ordinary and nothing to write home about. the BBQ porks that came with the dish was not too flavorful and not inspiring.Overall, this is a decent Vietnamese restaurant and a good alternative to Golden Deli down the street.
