Pho-Ever
120 N El Camino Real, Encinitas, CA 92024, United States
My love for Pho Ever's 1st location in Vista gave me high hopes for this spot as it filled a void of good Vietnamese Pho south of Oceanside down to Shallots in Sorrent (Le Bamou doesn't count as it's way too pricey and fusion with no real pho). Lots of people are opposed to coming North or even South to more authentic pho.Tam did a bang up job working diligently to keep service, food and customer experiences uber consistent. There is good reason why it's never empty and rarely a wait ever. I waited a long time for this to open and came here a half dozen times before I decided to write this.If you want something done right, sometimes you have to do it yourself. I'm sorry to say this but the staff, work ethic is a disservice to the great name and great food they put out. Service is inconsistent ranging from meh to bad with a good/excellent sprinkled in. Décor is good, kind of predictable, clean, a little too stark, but ultimately not modern, just new. Prices are comparable and downright cheap compared to Le Bambou.Com Bo Nuong is a good value, perfect rice, moist meat well marinated, not too much char. I ask for extra fish sauce for dipping to keep it traditional. Bo luc loc has filet mignon and is soft, beefy, but to me not worth the up charge. Fried rice is great seeing that beef is the same price as chicken and shrimp varieties. I like the Shrimp, but perhaps the rice is too light to be filling. Egg rolls are crisp, dense, flavorful. Spring rolls are tight, light and fresh, again ask for fish sauce to add to your peanut dipping sauce as you can barely taste it. Vermicelli is fresh, light and goes better with the bolder pork dishes versus fish, beef and chicken. Beef stew is hearty, but needs extra bread. Cari Ga is great over vermicelli noodles, the rice version is too predictable, but the noodles provide an unexpected surprise. Mi Hoanh Thanh is the gem of the meu, filling, fresh, not too bold, a bit of a secret if you ask me. Bun Bo Hue is a tad heavy on the shrimp paste, but I love the blood cubes and tendon, the broth is probably better for hangovers than people think pho is.Their pho broth is still one of the best, rich, not thick or oily. The noodles are never bricked. No thumb in bowl syndrome, the steak is still filet mignon. The meatballs could be more herbally bright. They do kids sized for $5 which is actually nice for smaller eaters. Large is very filling, Medium is probably good for most people.

Very pleasant restaurant that serves Thai, Cambodian, and Vietnamese food. They dont take reservations for small tables and there is usually a wait. The food is very good and the staff is helpful and friendly. Its a little loud, but otherwise a very nice restaurant in Leucadia.

The best Pho in Encinitas !!!! Great service, great price, large portions, fast, remember, they are Vietnamese, they dont want you taking your sweet time on the table to eat your meal, thats their culture, if you can handle that and dont get offended by getting your bill before you ask or finishing your meal, you will enjoy this place. Kim was present at the restaurant every time I visited there (3 times).

One of the best Vietnamese restaurants I have been to - we were lucky to have my neighbor Ti, who is Vietnamese, so she did all the ordering - its a fairly large restaurants with waiters who are eager to help you order, the food came out fast and hot - I was so impressed with the food and restaurant we are going back this weekend

Pannikin Coffee & Tea
510 N Coast Hwy 101, Encinitas, CA 92024, United States
I visited the Pannikin Leucadia recently for the first time since COVID19 and was upset to see the lack of safety measures. Yes, the staff wear masks and the clientele [mostly do] was while inside, but there were no other apparent safety measures. I spoke with a staff member who told me that there was no hazard pay being offered, nor did they know of paid 2-weeks off if an employee tested positive, nor was healthcare extended for PT employees in any way (full or partial coverage). I also did not see any hand sanitizer available. It was concerning to me that the employee mentioned that it would be difficult to implement safety measures given the store layout. Having only my customer experience to go off of, I could imagine that your management could consider not having one employee fully service each customer, thus limiting the people touching the same items (coffee machines, tongs for pastries, cash register, etc) as well as a sign/person regulating the customers coming in so that only people actively ordering are inside. I have also seen that other businesses have restricted access to outdoor seating by putting signs, caution tape or similar over benches/chairs in order to maintain social distance on the patio - this could work for your fixed layout. As mentioned above, instituting mandatory hand sanitization and/or temperature checks when entering is another safety option. I am confident that you, your team, or your fellow business owners have other solutions you could implement, as well.I am urging you as a lover of your staff and food/bev to please consider the safety of your workers and their livelihoods while they are actively put in danger. And before you say that they can choose not to work, really think about that, because most people cannot go without a paycheck in SoCal and especially now with even less govt support.Until I know that Pannikin has taken the employee well-being further into account, I will sadly, but resolutely, not be returning for the best coffee cakearound.

Smoke and Salt Restaurant
1542 N Coast Hwy 101 Building B, Encinitas, CA 92024, United States
The food is really mediocre at best and we were excited to come here after reading about the Brisket Banh Mi. I would love to sit down with the chef because all the food is imbalanced - The Banh Mi needs crunchy bread, a well balanced acid from the pickled veggies and a nice, complex flavor. Here you only taste the barbecue sauce in soggy, cold bread and unfortunately the brisket does not come through at all. Also in a bahn mi the inside of the bread needs to be extracted so that it looks like a burrito instead of like a sandwich. The fries are incredibly salty and overall the food menu is around 50% overpriced for what you get (this is a food truck after all with plastic cutlery). I will say that the brussels sprouts were really tasty, but at $12 a pop the pricing is out of whack. There are some really good elements in the cooking, nice creativity but please work with someone on the flavors and execution. Atmosphere is really nice, so if you just want to hang this is a nice spot.

Oggis Sports Brewhouse Pizza
305 Encinitas Blvd, Encinitas, CA 92024, United States
My parents had lunch there on Monday. They had a good experience, so they made a reservation on their way out for this evening, in celebration of their 59th wedding anniversary. When we arrived, they had no record of our reservation for 10 people. That should have been an omen. We were seated after a 5 minute wait. The place was busy and clearly understaffed. The servers were in continuous motion. Our drink order was taken in a reasonable time, but we didnt see our waiter for another 20 minutes. She apologized when she finally took our order. We didnt see her again until our meal was completed. It took about another 40 minutes to start getting our food, which arrived over a 10 minute interval. I had to go into the kitchen and spoon my own ketchup and ranch dressing for my wife. My father had to go into the kitchen to get parmesan and pepper for his pizza. I returned to the kitchen, as though I were a server, to retrieve my nieces order of fried pickels. We tried ordering a drink from a person who brought our food, but he said we had to order from our server. We were never able to order that drink. The food was poor (mac n cheese, fried pickels, pineapple pizza) to good (magarita pizza, salad). We should have at least recieved an I survived Oggis T-shirts on our way out.
