Pho 99 Plus
3620 Katella Ave, Los Alamitos, CA 90720, United States
My retired parents have been eating here almost everyday, and believe me, my Asian mom is especially picky about her Asian food dining experience. When I was in town, I went with them and saw why theyve made Pho99 Plus their regular dining experience. The pho or noodle soup is served in a large bowl with tasty broth and plenty of meat and vegetables. My folks especially like the combo pho which combines eye round steak, brisket, and meatball. They also serve tasty chicken wings, from 6 to 50 pieces, slathered with seasoned barbecue sauce. My dads favorite is the rice plate beef and stir fried tofu onions and broccoli. For beverage, they can serve you Vietnamese iced coffee or boba bubble tea.The owners mom who helps out with the business confessed to me that the pandemic has slowed business down and that theyre in survival mode now, which is a shame since it doesnt have to be that way since you can eat there now. They have COVERED PATIO DINING, which is nice on a breezy summer evening. Or, if you just want to do take out, they have that too. They do all the regular e-food take out apps also.Pho99 is on Katella Ave, right next to McDonalds, but for about the same cost, you can get a better tasting and much healthier meal at Pho99. McDonalds has enough of your money, so support small business, the back-bone of America.Pho99

It was another HOT day in Long Beach and we wanted to get our ice cream fix. We found this place on yelp and thought why the hell not? We made a video about our experience if you want to check it out: youtu.be/lQCrWQPpFAQDecor (5/5)The place was definitely newly renovated. Everything was clean and there was a lot of attention paid to the design. Each table had a little succulent which added a lot in their minimalist design. There were large group seating arrangements and smaller seating areas for just a few folks. There was also cucumber mint water that you can pour yourself.Service (5/5)The service was fast and friendly. We didnt have to wait a long time to get our food and everybody genuinely looked like they were happy. We even got to speak with the owner and baker Sarah!Food (5/5)We got the unicorn Belgium waffle, granitas, and a 6 pack of the macaroons. The unicorn Belgium waffle was adorable. The ears were decorated with little marshmallows and there was a tiny horn made of fondant. It was definitely photo-worthy. The flavor was amazing. The waffle was topped with a layer of birthday cake butter cream, candy pearls, and sprinkles. Normally, waffles are very crispy and heavy. These waffles were very light and aerie. My wife was not expecting to be able to finish the entire thing, but it was a breeze to eat because it was so light on your stomach. The butter cream added this sweetness that was fulfilling, but not overpowering and the powdered sugar was a great touch to even out the after taste. The granitas were great, but although it was cold and shaped like ice, it was tasted more like cooled sugars. All of them used natural fruit flavors, which is an amazing touch for someone with allergies. These are served with ice cream that was also very creamy and smooth. The macaroons were amazing. The filling didnt feel cheap like the ones that you get from trader joes. There was a lot of depth to the flavor. The shell was so soft that when I grabbed it to take my first bite, I was expecting it to crack and shatter. Instead it just kind of folded in on itself. I could have taken a bite out of it if I didnt have any teeth at all.Price (5/5)This was the hard part because the food is expensive when you think about it as a cup of ice cream, macaroons, and waffles. I didnt mind the price tag at all because I didnt think about it like that. It was a far superior product when compared to any cup of ice cream, macaroon, or waffle that Ive had before. I have had ice cream, but I have not had a granitas where the ice cream was silky smooth, allergy friendly, and topped with sugar crystals. I have had macaroons, but I have not had ones so soft, that I felt like I was biting into a cloud. I have had waffles, but I have not had ones so light and aerie. This is why I struggled so much with this section of my review. Its expensive, but I feel like I only think that way because the market is flooded with lower quality alternatives.
Mustards Chicago Style Eatery
3630 Katella Ave, Los Alamitos, CA 90720, United States
Can Mustards cut the mustard? Yes, they can!I like hot dogs like I do my burgers - dragged through the garden. Give me all the onions, tomatoes, pickles & other accoutrement you can put on them. Mustards has been bookmarked by me for a long while, and the occasion popped up where a visit was what was in order.Mustards Chicago Style Eatery has all the trappings of a donut shop (donuts, coffee drinks, smoothies, sandwiches). But, the main draw is their Chicago menu, complete with beer & wine. Knowing a Chicago dog was a must, I also ordered an Italian beef to make sure I didnt leave hungry.Char-broiled Chicago dog-Made with a Vienna Beef dog inside a poppy seed bun, topped with pickle, tomatoes, onions, hot sport peppers, mustard, celery salt & neon green relish. Good dog! Never been to Chicago, but I believe Mustards Chicago dog is a good facsimile, thereof.Italian beef-The highlight for me, especially with the giardiniera (ask for it). Had a difficult time choosing this or their Philly cheesesteak, but happy with my decision. Mustards Italian beef had some heft to it, and I enjoyed every bite of the sumptuous sandwich. Dipping into the au jus at first, I later doused the sandwich into the stuff, making sure to sop up any au jus left on the wax paper, just so nothing goes to waste. Delicious!Service was good. The staff were friendly, and the wait was minimal. Ample seating inside, including tables which have a checkers board on them, for dining entertainment. The decor has Chicago memorabilia on the walls, and a TV to view the latest ball game. Parking is via a private lot, located in the Maderas Steakhouse plaza.Fuhgeddaboutit! Im looking forward to ordering the Philly Cheesesteak, next time. Mustards Chicago Style Eatery appeased my appetite, and I enjoyed the characteristically unpretentious atmosphere. Gives character, in my opinion. Unlike a sterile franchise restaurant that has a rewards program w/ an app. The Chicago Dog & Italian beef warmed my tum-tum, and Im salivating just thinking about a juicy Philly Cheesesteak.Highly recommend!
Fuji Revolving Sushi Bar
5373 Katella Ave, Los Alamitos, CA 90720, United States
READ ABOUT UPDATED VISIT. WORTH THE READ TO LEARN ABOUT THIS RESTAURANT==============================================If you love dinner and a show I recommend you visit Fuji Revolving Sushi Bar. Easy access & plenty of parking, since its located near Costco. They have numerous menu items to choose, ranging from soups to single item plates to full dinners. And, in this reporters opinion, its all good no its XLNT. I will admit I always order the same thing BUT, if one dish is great shouldnt everything be delicious? My first visit was a while back & I forgot to rate, but now Im on it. We were greeted upon arrival with a big smile by the knife yielding sushi king but weve also been met at the door by a delightful host/server. I usually like booths when dining out but, here, I wanted the counter. WHY? Because they have, as advertised in their name, a revolving sushi bar. Its like a train of covered food that doesnt stop....not ever. Its so mesmerizing, watching a nonstop variety of plated sushi travel around the restaurant and pass by every seat at the counter & each of their booths. I also believe Ive seen a couple desserts tucked in between the large variety of finger food items aka sushi. If you dont find what you like remember that knife yielding sushi king I mentioned? Hes right there ready to slice, dice and roll up your selection from the menu. Its also a child friendly place to eat. The one place kids wont leave their seats but remain visually entertained during dinner. You wont leave hungry.===============================================UPDATED REVIEW================================================Recently visited prior to a live performance. The restaurant was quite full and we werent sure about timing. I advised receptionist/server about our time and needed to be out the door within 45 mins. He checked with kitchen and came back and said Ill take your order and if you pay before itll be faster when youre done. We paid & tipped and within 8mins our meal was sitting in front of us. We had a comfortable time to eat and made it out the door withing 40mins. Restaurants which make the effort to accomodate their customers should be acknowledged in an open forum such as this. In my opinion they still deserve their 5 stars.===============================Hey Fuji Revolving Sushi Bar, how about a shout out to me for my review? We are regular customers.======================================
