Roys Restaurant
321 W Katella Ave, Anaheim, CA 92802, United States
We read about so many lives lost to drunk or DUI drivers that my wife and I decided this year to just have a quiet, early dinner for NYE. I wanted to go to West Hollywood or DTLA but she wanted to stay close to home. So we compromised with Roys in Anaheim at the Garden Walk. Parking, on this evening was busy with a queue about 12 cars deep just to get into the parking garage. Luckily, they had EV chargers open, so we got a good spot and charged at the same time! The wait was fairly short, but they were taking walk-ins. We were disappointed that so many people were dressed casually while my wife and I took the time to look nice (at least for each other, but heck, thats what its all about anyway, right?) especially on NYE. Youll get a mix of people here from tourists visiting Disneyland from all over the world, to locals, like ourselves, looking for a nice night out, to business people trying to seal the deal (I kid you not, there were some guys next to us talking about real estate (on NYE!)).The service was impeccable as was the food. We were disappointed that the chocolate souffle was not offered on the NYE prix fixe menu. However, what was on the menu was stunning. The lobster bisque, which I order at other restaurants when I get a chance, was absolutely amazing. It was velvety with good pieces of lobster, not just an essence. My wifes tuna poke was likewise superb and, to date, is her favorite, bar none. Unlike a traditional poke served over rice, this was molded with avocado and served next to won ton chips. It truly was delicious. For the next course, I ordered the filet mignon, medium, with lump crab cake and added a lobster tail (the dish comes only with the crab cake and filet) and my wife had the Chilean Sea bass (one of her go-to dishes when its available). My steak was cooked perfectly, with just the right amount of pink in the center with a good char on the outside. The lobster tail was juicy and not overcooked (unlike Hells kitchen... SMH). The lump crab cake was free of shell pieces and not overly salty nor overly breaded. The Yukon mashed potatoes, like the bisque, was velvety smooth, with a hint of butter and natural potato flavors. The asparagus was excellent as well as the truffle onion and misoyaki demi-glace.The sea bass was delightful (Im running out of superlatives and descriptives here...). It, too, wasnt overcooked and was moist and flavorful. My wifes eyes just about popped out of her head with the first bite. She loves fish, but really, really loved this. The garlic noodles under the fish gave just enough contrast in flavors and textures to enhance the bass without being distracting. The Nishime vegetables and Thai lime emulsion, likewise, were a perfect compliment. As our meal also included dessert, we opted for the guava panna cotta. Im not a fan of guava, but my wife is. All I can say is that Im a fan now. At least if its prepared like Roys. It was a white chocolate mousse with strawberry champagne sauce and pink peppercorns. There was also an edible flower garnish. I never eat the flower garnish, regardless of restaurant, but tonight I decided to give it a try. It was delicious. Also, whoever thought of mixing peppercorns with a sweet dessert should be knighted! Amazing juxtaposition of flavors. We ended the evening with a toast and some champagne and beat the erratic and inebriated drivers and were able to kiss our kids, all four of them, goodnight as we waited for 2024 to roll in.While not as pompous and spectacular as our other NYEs, this one was delicious and meaningful. A wonderful dinnner and night with my wife, and a warm homecoming to my kids. If 2024 is anything like this night, well need another reservation at Roys... make that several reservations and a chocolate souffle.
Pick Up Stix Fresh Asian Flavors
5576 E Santa Ana Canyon Rd, Anaheim, CA 92807, United States
*Update*After giving them a year to sort out their issues I tried to order from their website directly. Once again, second order in a row, they left out an entire item so I once again didnt get to eat with my family.Dont order more than 1 thing if you want to eat dinner the night you order it. I am very disappointed with their customer service skills. I placed my order online and picked it up. Once I got home I found out that I was shorted my beef meal. I called the restaurant and asked to talk to the manager. After 15 min on hold I hung up and called back and was put on hold for 2 more minutes before I could even say 1 word. When I called back again and asked to not be put on hold because I cant listen to the recording after hearing it 750 times and would rather listen to the counter. The phone was passed to Erica who said she wasnt the Manger but was in charge and would ask that they refund me in 3 business days for the beef meal. No offer to deliver the food or even apologized for leaving it out. I understand mistakes can happen but when they add all the mis-steps in this one order experience it shows that either nobody at this location has pride in doing their job well and/or were never properly trained which is a failure of management. Either way this place is currently a huge let down compared to the Placentia location.
Kookoo Grill - The Original Fusion Teriyaki Joint
202 W Lincoln Ave, Anaheim, CA 92805, United States
KooKoo Grill is a great find in Anaheim for excellent teriyaki and Asian fusion cuisine! This place isnt too far of a drive from Disneyland and the portions are large and prices are reasonable. The restaurant is fast, casual, and family-owned. The owner is very kind and friendly as well. As a first timer, I tried had to try the koo koo balls and a teriyaki plate. The koo koo balls (3pcs for $4.95) were great! They are deep fried rice balls with savory chicken, onions, cilantro, and cheese. The outside texture is similar to rice at the bottom of a clay pot, which has hardened. The inside is warm, savory, and has a slight spicy kick. Top this off with their koo koo sauce for added flavor. The chicken & beef teriyaki plate ($9.95) was also really good! Both meats were really good and very plentiful. It comes on top of a large bed of rice with a small side salad and Thousand Island dressing. The bowl version is just meat and rice and smaller in size.If you are looking for great teriyaki fusion food in the Anaheim area, I would recommend coming to KooKoo Grill. Its good food, good service, and good value! There are definitely a lot more teriyaki and fusion items on the menu that I havent tried, but look very promising.
White Elephant
440 S Anaheim Blvd #207, Anaheim, CA 92805, United States
One of many trips to my favorite food haul! I love the Anaheim Packing House! There's so many options to choose from, and majority of the time, the food is great.Parking: Their parking lot is small/med size. Parking will be most difficult on weekends, and very easy on weekdays. There are also some street parking, but beware of towing. I noticed they only offer valet parking on the weekends. I valet parked my vehicle once for about $7-10 (including tip; most likely increased). But I don't even bother trying to find parking in their lot or valet anymore. I only park in the large structure on the corner of Anaheim Blvd & Broadway then walk over. It's free 2 hour visitor parking and less stress.Ambiance/Environment: White Elephant is located on the top level, to the left when you walk in. They have very small seating in front of their location.Service: Our cashier was quick and efficient. Throughput was under 10 minutes. Both the cashier and the cook who handed us our order made small conversation with us, and they were funny.Food: I ordered the Pad See Ew with steak. I thought the portion size is medium/large. It wasn't too salty, filled with flavors, and definitely savory. They cut the steak into tiny bite sizes, and they also cut the noodles also. I'd prefer a bit more steak and broccoli, but overall this dish was a 4/5.Pricing: Prices are $$$ more than average. Majority of their main dishes were $19+. Considering their location, I'm not surprised. But yes, they're very pricey.

It was very flavorful. It came with fried sticky rice. It was a tasty dish.* Green Curry Chicken | $8.25Green curry chicken was on the sweeter side.I love curry with rice.* Spicy Basil Leaves Beef |$7.95The beef in Spicy Basil Leaves Beef was very tough and hard to swallow. The flavor was good. Craft Bowl
2117 E Ball Rd, Anaheim, CA 92806, United States
I did not see the deliciousness that was Craft Bowl coming! In a small strip at the heart of Anaheim, Craft Bowl offers a chipotle style build-your-own bowl experience with Korean flavors (Bulgogi, Kimchi, etc ) and a couple of American-Mexican twists (black olives, sour cream!).My bowl of choice was the Bulgogi, with a bed of super greens and rice. For toppings, I wasnt as bold, sticking to Kimchi and corn, and purple cabbage. At the last minute, I decided to go a little wild and add in their Salsa, which is not something I would think to add to a Korean style dish. I threw in some side sauces of Jalapeño mayo and the Habanero - another set of sauces I wouldnt associate with Korean foods. But I needed to trust the Craft Bowls menu. And let me tell you, I am so glad that I did :). Not only was the rice cooked perfectly and the Bulgogi meat unexpectedly tender and not too sweet (the biggest compliment from an Asian foodie), but the toppings were all fresh and layered on nicely with the rest of the bowl - including the Salsa, which had a pleasant pickled flavor. I would also buy jars of the sauces - these folks know how to make spicy sauces!! I was practically slurping up the Habanero sauce by the end; the flavors worked incredibly well with the rest of the bowl too.You may want to spice things up with a Regular Tteokbokki bowl too. My partner, who is not typically a Tteokbokki fan, ate it up! The rice cakes were very tender - freshly cooked to order, and the sauce was perfectly balanced with savory and spicy. Many Tteokbokki are cloyingly sweet, but the Craft Bowl killed it here. The grilled onions, scrambled eggs, cabbage, and cheese gave a nice bit of texture and additional layers of flavor to the dish. My only wish next time would be to get a little cabbage next time to level up the crunch in the bowl.A fantastic offering by the Craft Bowl team, and I got to experience this in part thanks to a special one through Yelp so I am very grateful. The prices are very reasonable, and parking is plenty so very accessible as well. To top it off, the staff was very friendly, quick, and patient.Excited to discover another fire (in taste and execution!) find. If youre in Anaheim for any reason, you will be glad you dropped by Craft Bowl - make sure to load up on their home made sauces ??!
WaBa Grill
515 W Chapman Ave, Anaheim, CA 92802, United States
I do like Waba Grill but I dont like this particular restaurant. They do need to improve their sanitation/cleaning/hygienes as well as their customer service. When I walked in, the person in charge of the front counter was cleaning and wiping the tables. The others in the kitchen saw me waiting to be served but nobody else came over to help me as they were busy too. I waited patiently for a couple of minutes and finally the cleaning gal came inside serve me. At this point, I told her to please sanitize or clean her hands first because I know she will be touching my food. She gave me a negative attitude and replied she was using gloves. I told her its still unsanitary because her gloves have been contaminated with chemicals and who knows what else. She had to touch those gloves to remove them from her hands so her hands have been exposed to them too. This was also inappropriate because this not a courteous or best way to serve your customers. I was very grossed out and disturbed by it all. She should have washed his or her hands or sanitized her hands first before serving food to others, especially when a customer politely asks them to do so. Its not only good hygienes and sanitation but its also good manners. I decided to walk out. The manager and staff members there should be more attentive about hygienes and sanitation as do everyone else, especially during this pandemic.I never had to deal with this at Panda Express or PF Changs. Hasnt anybody learned anything from this pandemic? They should know better or receive better training from their leaders. Good hygiene and sanitation is very important and should be one of the things people need to learn from covid. Maybe thats one of the reasons why our country has the most death rates in the world from covid and its still climbing. It is so humiliating for our great country to go through this because of the constant brain washing influence from Trump and his incompetent, careless, heartless, selfish, foolish, ignorant, and deceitful leadership and terror. Either people are too ignorant to understand or they refuse to understand the reality of the pandemic due to their blind loyalty because they have decided to listen and follow the wrong leader. That does not help anybody as it has already been demonstrated very clearly in the past 2 years. I suggest they all go to the hospitals and see the many severe illnesses and deaths from covid per day, and maybe they can finally open their minds and eyes to the reality of it all. Perhaps, they need to see somebody they love be a serious victim of covid and they can finally see the truth for themselves.

Purchased 2 chicken bowls for my elderly parents. Brown rice was not up to my parents expectations even though in the past they had no trouble with the quality. The only thing they ate was the chicken. Spoke with manager Miriam Rubio who was rude and refused to give me a refund nor a discount. She insulted me when she stated that I was a problem as soon as I walked into the door. She was unprofessional and seemed bothered by my questions when I first placed my order. When i finally told her how she was going to make it ok. She said Im not. Nor am I giving you a refund your parents ate all the meat. Thats on them if they didnt like the rice I then asked for her to charge the meat only then. They refunded $7.55 out of a total charge of $16.15. How can a place charge est. $8.50 for 2 servings of chicken? I left them the 2 bowls full of rice to show how displeased I was.
WaBa Grill
1019 N Magnolia Ave Ste E, Anaheim, CA 92801, United States
I had came in here Monday night after a busy day trying to get a quick meal for my family I came in for two steak bowls and one chicken bowl. After waiting in line for over 15 minutes the cashier kept going back and forth about how they didnt have steak but they did have steak and couldnt make up his mind he gave the person in front of me his order of steak and then when it was my turn he looks at me and says there is no steak. I look behind him at the grill and they clearly have steak on the grill I asked him what about that and he said that the manager said that that meat is for online orders and that the manager would be there in 10 to 20 minutes with cooked steak from somewhere else. I said so in order to get my order I would need to place an order online and wait additional time for my food to be made and get charged more and he responded with a sarcastic I guess maybe I asked him since I had been standing there for 15 minutes prior to him helping me why there is no way for him to give me the order I was asking for without me placing it online and he started arguing with me about how everything was his fault and if hed never told the other person they had steak he wouldnt be dealing with that. I had asked him again that since the manager was supposedly so close if I could just have my order he went back to the kitchen and started talking to the cooks which all turned and looked at me with dirty looks I paid $31 and received less than half a portion of steak on each bowl if these people take online orders more serious than in-store customers then they should just shut their doors because that is absolutely ridiculous.
Umami Express
1560 S Lewis St, Anaheim, CA 92805, United States
My partner and I decided to order a quick grab & go after our workout. We wanted to find something healthy. It was around 10pm, and we found this ghost kitchen that served many foods from different restaurants.Parking: This ghost kitchen is located in a lot. It looks a bit sketchy, but fear not. Free parking, but finding a spot can be difficult. It's super busy, and I noticed there were a lot of food delivery workers going in n out.Environment: It's a very small space. No dine in. There are lockers to the right where you'd pick up your food when it's ready. We didn't place an order online, so we ordered through the kiosk. I don't think they take cash. Everything seems contactless.Service: We didn't speak to anyone. It was self order, and we waited for our food. We were texted when our order was ready. Throughput was under 10 minutes. What we ordered: I ordered the chicken rice & cabbage bowl, and my partner ordered the protein lover rice & cabbage bowl and a coconut green smoothie. I really liked my bowl! The multi grain rice paired well with all the toppings, chicken, and sauce. The cabbage was fresh and not soggy. Careful for the sesame seeds, it might get stuck to your teeth lol. I'd prefer a bit more chicken, but other than that, I enjoyed it. I also tried my partner's bowl. His bowl definitely had a lot of protein! It was all delicious! The toppings were similar to my bowl. I did not try his coconut green smoothie bc I don't like coconut, but I'm assuming he liked it since it was gone in 5 seconds.Pricing: The chicken rice & cabbage bowl was $11.95, the protein lover rice & cabbage bowl was $15.65, and the coconut green smoothie was $5.95. I'd say it's worth its price. The bowls left us fulfilling, and we enjoyed everything.
