Pick Up Stix Fresh Asian Flavors
7041 Yorktown Ave #106, Huntington Beach, CA 92648, United States
It has been years since I went to Pick Up Stix. Several times I had a craving for Pick Up Stix but something got in the way. I got through with a little job. It was hard work but a nice paycheck. (well, for me) It also happened that I needed to stay in HB until evening because I have to pick up a laptop from a friend to DJ an event at Crunch Fitness tomorrow. (long story) My very first thought was: I have a little extra cash and have to stay in HB: I am going to Pick Up Stix! It is nice to report that it still tastes EXACTLY as it did years ago! My favorite meal here is now kind of a secret. I did not see it on the menu but when I asked, the very attentive staff member told me what it was called. She told me it was the House Chowmein or The House Rice. Depending on your poison, (mine is noodles) this dish includes shrimp, beef and chicken. I also ordered a medium Won Ton Soup abd a large drink. The prices havent, suprisingly, increased as much as they have at most fast food places. Granted, prices were a little more than most fast food, of course, even before Covid, but the quality of the food balanced out the higher price. I had expected prices to be even higher now but they werent. Another thing I have noticed is that both the portions and the quality of the food has suffered in most fast food places. The only difference I saw here in the portion was the side crunchy noodles. Not a big deal. Otherwise portions AND qualith were exactly as I remembered them. In addition, the unsweetened ice tea was excellent. (the best is at Panera but portions are small and prices high) Tea is a very big factor for me because I rarely drink sodas. This tea was perfect and refreshing. (not like the horrid tea I had at Burger King which, though a picture was shown of iced tea on the soda dispenser was actually made behind the counter and handed to me with NO ice! It also tasted awful, too bitter) Finally, the place was clean and, as a DJ I appreciated the music mix. It is rare that a place plays a song I do not not know, as well as some of the hits. The mix flowed despite the many genres represented. Good Pandora station or programming. All in all, I was extremely grateful for my delicious and relaxing reunion with Pick Up Stix!
Mahkin Thai & Sushi
303 3rd St Unit 140, Huntington Beach, CA 92648, United States
I dont leave 3 star reviews, its either that I loved it, or I absolutely think a place should be shut down. I leave either 1 star or 5 star.Customer service:If I could give this place a 10 star, I would. The staff is the most welcoming and engaging that Ive ever experienced. The sushi chefs are phenomenal, they talk and laugh with you. Many other places are just there to make your dish, this place understands customer service. Its very easy to connect with people in this restaurant. At one point, it was last call, a customer asks how long until she cant order anymore. The chef goes, Ill give you ten seconds.. 10.. 9.. 8.. we all started laughing lol, knowing that he was just joking. One other time, a customer asked what is good there and what they should try, one chef says, We have baby seal if youd like to try. The whole bar started cracking up (again knowing its a joke.......). Its places like this, that bring people together for the better. It is a family owned restaurant and they do their absolute best. The restaurant is not too big, but it is warm and always smells amazing, doesnt get too loud, and I believe that the size it just perfect. Any bigger and it wouldnt be the same environment, any smaller and again, it wouldnt be the same.If youre looking for a place to have a great, fun time and talk to people, this is the place. The sushi bar seats 6 people. The staff are always walking around, so it is not difficult to wave someone down and ask for something. They are always right on it and will get what you need with pleasure. Anyways.... I could go on and on about how I love their service.Food:WARNING: THIS IS AUTHENTIC THAI FOOD, AS THE NAME OF THE RESTAURANT STATES.Some people, man, they dont understand that thai style tends to be very spicy..Its like getting mad at an authentic Mexican restaurant for putting jalapeños in your dish when you asked for it to be authentic and spicy. Or better yet, its like getting mad at a bar for serving alcohol.I have never been to Thailand, however.... I have eaten food made by Thai people that I know personally. So I have an idea of what its supposed to taste like. Ive gone to many Thai restaurants and this one is by far my favorite. Many other restaurants aim to please the Americans by making everything much sweeter. This is not the case here. If you want Thai style, this is your place, (of course you can always ask them to tone it down a notch, or make it not spicy at all. After all, you are the customer.)I ate the roasted duck salad, and the papaya salad with raw wild blue crab. One employee gave me a bowl of rice, but dared me to not eat it, to see if I could handle. I pulled through, but it took a while lol.The fish is all VERY fresh. Its like they just went fishing that day or something. When they make your sushi, they make it with love. Some sushi places ive gone to, just throw some things together and roll it up then serve it. Not this place. The sushi chefs know what theyre doing and take the time to perfect it. The rolls dont fall apart and are not filled with rice in order to fill you up.Again... I could go on and on, but this review is getting long and I think youd get the point by now. Like I said, I only leave extreme reviews. If I feel the place deserves a review, Ill leave it. Im not a yelper, but when its necessary, Ill yelp.See you soon Mahkin. Keep up the amazing work. Cheers !
Titans Pho

I’m so excited they opened a pho restaurant in downtown HB. This place is an Asian fusion restaurant. Their Vietnamese Pho and bbq pork vermicelli noodles is really good and taste legit. Their menu gives a lot of options from Chinese, Thai to Japanese etc... There’s no msg which is great. I’m really glad they decided to serve the food in a regular bowl for dine-in. This makes it so much more enjoyable. The staff is friendly and the place is clean. I’ll definitely dine here often with my friends and family.
Mitasie Vegan 3

Normally, you snap a photo of the dish before you eat it, but today, this is proof that the chicken vegan pho was an incredible surprise. At first, when the waiter suggested it over the beef or regular pho option, I was a bit skeptical and assumed it would be at least slightly disappointing, but boy was I wrong! The vegan chicken is flavorful and tender. The broth was just right and as with most pho entrees, you get your normal basil, bean sprouts and lime. I'm never a jalapeño fan with pho, but that comes too.Honestly, I'm overly stuffed right now writing this. So, I'll have to take my jasmine iced tea which also comes with this complimentary. No photo here of it because I barely was able to sip it beyond the first couple of swallows.I'll be back to try the other dishes and see what other vegan surprises might delight. I can see why the rating was so high. I was wondering before dropping by. I hate to create more traffic for what I hope is my regular cuisine stop.
Saigon District Restaurant Presotea

I had previously visited and was eagering looking forward to coming back. I finally made a point to come back today for my birthday and brought as friend, who had never had the pleasure of having Pho. To my disappointment, not only were most of dishes lukewarm or cold, but the portions left much to be desired. Not only did my my meal, which I requested extra broccoli, come with none, it barely came with any veggies, much less a basic amount of veggies in a vegetarian dish. I was told my dish came with 5 broccoli. Because of this experience and that I had looked forward to this and recommended this place, I will hesitate to return a third time.
Rollrritto Poke Bar
18581 Beach Blvd, Huntington Beach, CA 92648, United States
10/14/17 update. Been here many times more over the months. Consistently delicious as long as you stick to the fresh, tasty items and avoid the odd choices (seriously, jalapeno pepper slices??). Salmon, white rice, crab, ponzo or creamy sauce as the base + items that pair well like masago, edamame, seaweed, tamago, etc. The best poke Ive had, and the only place I return to in the area. (And yes, OJ prices are still absurd.)FIRST, DO NOT BUY THE OJ!!! Cheap way for the store to Gorge you out of $7 for OJ thats no better than Naked Juice. SECOND, do not believe them when they say anything is mildly spicy, like the creamy jalapeno sauce. Seriously hot enough to bring out the sniffles. FINALLY, its actually one of the few decent poke bowl places I wouldnt mind eating at in the area (keeping in mind poke is not a proper chirashi, but an Americanized cheap spin). Flavors are tasty, the salmon good, white rice decently cooked (for an American joint), and from beginning to end, quite edible. Start with a small bowl - itll fill most girls up 1/2-2/3rds of the way through. Pricing on the small bowl is very good at $9 given the number of ingredients and quality. My pick of white rice, only salmon, scoop of spicy tuna, scoop of imitation crab, mango, red onions, furikake, masago with spicy jalapeno sauce was very good...just watch the spiciness (ask for half or less if you cant handle it, or another non-spicy dressing like yuzu soy sauce). Green bamboo rice is forgettable, so skip >.< with the OJ ripoff.

Im gonna go ahead and sum things up Waba Grill > Flame Broiler. With my chicken and veggie bowl I was able to substitute in brown rice for only .25 cents extra. Teriyaki sauce is on the table, so you can pour it on periodically through out your meal. Chicken is well done, I often order teriyaki chicken and find it to be too rubbery or fatty for my taste, that was not the case here. Overall its a nice fast food style teriyaki place, dont hesitate if thats what youre looking.

I went here at 5 pm on October 1, 2023. I ordered a chicken bowl with BROWN RICE. My order was to go. The black girl that took the order, who was the only one on shift taking orders, specifically asked me what kind of rice I wanted and I said BROWN RICE!!!! I get home and my damn bowl has WHITE RICE!!!!! I called this location(bolsa Ave in Huntington Beach) to ask why I was given white rice when I ordered brown. The black girl had the nerve and audacity to tel me “ I should have checked my order to make sure it was right before I left” SMFH!!!!! Unbelievable!!!! Not only that she was EXTREMELY RUDE AND DISRESPECTFUL when I was trying to say I can't eat white rice!!! I asked her name and she refused to give it to me. I was barely able to get the manager Jesus number to let him know how his store location is being represented! I have NEVER in my life had anyone treat me that way as a PAYING CUSTOMER !!!!! Contacted the manager and he said she had only worked there for 2 weeks smh!!!! I really hope they reprimand this idiot behind the counter who has NO damn clue how to handle customer service in a professional manner!!!!!! I would NEVER Rex going to this location with this DISRESPECTFUL girl working there!!!! That black girl clearly needs to be retrained and hopefully she will learn how to be professional when representing such a huge business!!!! BEYOND DISAPPOINTED!!!!!

Definitely disappointed and Ive been here 3 different times. The first rime the chicjen was cold and my dish was served about 5 minutes before my friends. The pho broth is extremely salty. When it says a dish comes with veggies it means iceburg lettuce. 3 seperate dishes all disappointing. The people were very nice and the atmosphere was good. Just expected better food.
Yamas Teriyaki
19091 Beach Blvd, Huntington Beach, CA 92648, United States
I ordered a Large Beef Veggie Bowl as part of the group order we did at the workplace. The portions were massive - Plenty of cabbage, plenty of rice, and plenty of beef. I drizzled the teriyaki sauce across the beef and veggies. The one thing that I had issues with was that the meat was dry, but the teriyaki sauce helped with managing the dryness (This is where they lost a star).I look forward to the opportunity to try them out again and taste the other proteins they have.- Ronald A.R.
