Taos Fresh
6185 Jarvis Ave, Newark, CA 94560, United States
I ate here on numerous occasions, but due to my recent experience, I will not be bringing myself & my family here again. The previous times that Ive eaten here (around 5-6), I had an overall good experience. The food was great, the service was good, and it was just a good place for my family to dine in and enjoy the time overall. However, on my most recent visit (the 11th), my wife and I decided to eat here to celebrate our son, turning 6 months. We went during a weekday in the evening, so it was pretty busy but not overwhelmingly busy.We ordered a set of appetizers and our main dishes and topped it off with boba that they have.We were not asked a single time on how we were doing and if we needed anything. We had to wait for the server to be completely free just to get her attention in order to get additional napkins. On top of that, the server only gave a single piece of a napkin, which absolutely felt like an insult due to their small size and the apparent cost cutting measures they were doing. For the appetizers, my wife and I ordered their Pot Stickers and Walnut Prawns.Prawns were good, well sized, evenly glazed, and topped with a good amount of walnut. It was crispy and very flavorful. The pot stickers were bland, no crisp to them whatsoever, and the filling was average at best. Overall, it was just very disappointing, to say the least.Onto the main entree, I ordered a rice plate with salmon and beef. Just like the pot stickers, it felt very bland, felt rushed, and for the extra beef that I added while ordering, it didnt feel justifable for what I have received to what was being charged. Ive eaten here numerous times and felt unsatisfied with my recent visit. The boba was spot on as always, no complaints, the brown sugar boba I had ordered was very flavorful, boba was soft and chewy, and had a creamy feel to it. The drink was good, to where I placed another order for it mid-meal. (10-15 mins prior to leaving)Towards the end is where it was very disappointing. I attempted to pay online via their website as I typically did the previous times I have been here. Ive tipped 15% each time I have been here, HOWEVER, this time, I have found out that with my recent visit, if you are DINING in, you are OBLIGED to pay a 15% tip that was not posted anywhere within the restaurant. Shoot, it wont even let you complete your payment online without tipping a minimum of 15%. Theres an option to put a custom amount, which was what I originally intended to do, but even with that, you must call the server over in order to complete your payment. So then, I decided to pay up at front. Payment went smoothly, with no issues until where she printed the receipt for me to sign. As soon as she handed it over, she pointed with the pen and reminded me to leave a tip. I already had a negative experience and kept my mouth shut as I told my wife that well just dine another time to see if our experience can justify our negative one, but when I was reminded to leave a tip, it was that cherry on top that prompted me to leave no tip. So when it came to the tip portion of the receipt, I marked it with a line signaling that I was not tipping for the experience that my family and I received. As I was done, I went to the bathroom to freshen up, reconnected with my family, and were heading over to the exit to carry on with our day. I told my wife to wait out at the front for the boba that I have ordered Mid-Meal that we havent received yet as I intended to bring our son to the car to get settled and what not to leave the area. Before I could walk out, after having had fully paid and what not, the OWNER stopped to confront me with the receipt I had signed earlier prompting me to leave a tip saying it was mandatory for ALL dine in guests regardless of their party size. I ALWAYS tip when I receive decent service and very rarely not. But when I chose not to tip for not getting decent service, I stood firm on it as Ive explained to the owner. In summary, I wouldnt recommend coming here unless you dont value your money.
ID (Idly Dosa) Company
1096 Newpark Mall Next to Newpark Mall Entrance 3, Newark, CA 94560, United States
We visited ID Company in June 2023 during our 3 week vacation in CA. My niece and her husband suggested we go here for lunch on a Saturday. Even though we battled traffic, it was well worth the trip. I am quite late in writing this review but I had to write this review as this is probably the best south indian food we have had in USA in over 20+ years.Food - We were a group of 8 people so ordered quite a few different vegetarian items as we were pretty hungry after a morning hike/walk in a park. We ordered Vadas, Samosa, Tikka fries, various varieties of Idli & Dosas, plus variety of drinks. As we were ordering we thought we may have ordered too much food and may not finish all the food (typical thing we all do when we go hungry into a restaurant)Vada - we ordered 4 types of Vadas - regular Vadas, sambhar vada, batata vada bites and punugulu. All were really good. I am not normally a vada fan but the regular vadas and smbhar vada were really really tasty. The sambhar was probably the best sambhar I have had and I actually was drinking the sambhar (normally I am not a big fan of sambhar). The batata vada bites were also good and the punugulu was really nice and crispy (kind of like dal vada/bhajiya).Samosa - good taste and chutney was really good complement with samosaTikka fries - I ordered this as they seemed interesting and I was in a little junky mood and thought they will be like the masala chips I used to have in Kenya. They were good but not as good as the original masala chips of KenyaIdli - we ordered regular idli, sambhar idli and karam podi idli. All were amazing really soft and literally like you were eating a sponge - it was heavenly!. The karam podi idli were nice and spicy and we really enjoyed those. The sambhar as mentioned before was really good and all the chutneys (coconut, tomato) were really tasty and had a slight zing to it.Dosa - we ordered masala, mysore masala, andhra karam and Hyderabad Bandi & Mumbai mini dosas. All the dosas were mouthwatering & perfecly crispy with the right amount of spice. The Hyderabad Bandi and Mumbai mini were new to us and we thoroughly enjoyed them and would highly recommend them to those who have not tried it. As with Idli the accompaniments (Sambhar & Chutneys) were a perfect complement and flavored perfectly. All the food was freshly cooked as it took a little bit of time as they prepared each item plus the place was quite packed with hardly any empty tables. As each item was ready from the kitchen we devoured it. Even the young kids finished their food.Drinks - We ordered buttermilk, mango lassi, and kala khatta soda. They were all good but kala khatta was a tad salty (slightly more sanchad than what we like)Service - this is basically a place where you order food at the cashier and then they make your order and you pick it up at the counter. So not much of table service involved. Nevertheless the people at the register and those handing out food as ready were friendly and were not fazed by the number of orders they had plus the amount of people. Food was being prepared in a timely as expected manner. Once has to understand and expect that when you go to a dosa place, you will not get your food instantly.Ambiance - regular neighbourhood dosa type of place ambiance. Bunch of different sized tables laid out and can be combined if you have a large group. The place was clean and as expected buzzing with people.Overall value - excellent. Only thing I would suggest is looking at ways to minimize overall plastic/paper waste (replace plastic cutlery & plates with reusable plates/cutlery)If you are in Freemont area in CA, you must go to ID company. You will not regret it. As mentioned before, hands down one of the best South Indian food I have had and I wish they had a branch in Central New Jersey. If they did I would visit them every time I had idli/dosa cravings ; even while I was writing this, I had my mouth was watering (ha ha) recounting the memory of the amazing delicious food we enjoyed in JuneCome to Central NJ!
Bonchon Newark

Ordered 30 wings (only) through DoorDash. Received wings and drumsticks combo (even the receipt shows it is a combo). When I called the restaurant, I was amazed by the responses.1. First of all, the girl at the restaurant asked me are you sure because our wings have the small drum part. Are you trying to insult a customer that she cant tell a whole wing from a drumstick?2. Then, as the conversation went on, she said I remember packing your order, I gave you 30 wings. When I told her hello, even your receipt said combo and I have all these unwanted drumsticks in front of me; then her answer was DoorDash messed up the order. Hello again, you think the poor DoorDash driver can magically found 15 drumsticks to mess up the order?3. Finally, she told me you have to contact DoorDash because technically you are their customer not ours. Hello again!Enjoy the pictures. Bonchon, you may be amazed by how yourself sounded! $45 got me a good laugh and unwanted drumsticks! Hope you get something out of it too.

Crabby Crabby

THIS SPOT IS THE PLACE TO GO. In Fremont/Union City, there's only a couple of spots for seafood boil that's decent, but i'm glad I gave Crabby Crabby a try and I have to say, the quality amazed me. I got the lunch specials, 1/2 lb snow crab and 1/2 lb headless shrimp, for $30. I also ordered gumbo, which the total came to $42 and some change. The sauce was super flavorful, everything was delicious. It was a bit overcooked for me, but the freshness and flavor was still there. They gave a lot of sauce, which i got the mix flavor(garlic butter and lemon pepper) and I highly recommend!

A Thai Express
39945 Balentine Dr, Newark, CA 94560, United States
This used to be my favorite spot for lunch but I hate to see this Place is going down the hill. Don't understand how come Restaurant owner doesn't care about what they are serving with their Customer unhealthy food full of oil that can really make them sick. And ultimately they will lose their customers. Absolutely disgusting to to see this and the bottom of the plate.Well, it's a little bit of common sense to Moore pay attention with her kitchen stuff is serving that ultimately effect honors.I will even say owners are absolutely no greeting cherishing it almost seemed like they're not doing this for their willingness someone is just forcing them to run this place. I will not likely recommend this place and will not return for an unhealthy eating .

[updated]Still a good late night spot, particularly for burgers and sides, good service that checks up on you to make sure things are OK. But when I come back, Im probably not going to get the donkatsu again.Donkatsu itself was fine, but small issues with the sides added up to a disappointing dish.Came with 3 small sides, japchae (plain japchae, no veggies mixed in), chilled daikon and carrot slices, and beansprouts. A little disappointed that the japchae was plain as its the small things like the green onions and chopped onions that make it more than just plain carbs. Chilled daikon and carrot slices go well with donkatsu since it can cleanse your palate. The bean sprouts were entirely disappointing. It was plain chilled bean sprouts, just taken from a container. As such, it was watery; the plate was in a concave form, so the water from the flavorless bean sprouts flowed down and met the bottom crumbs of the donkatsu, leaving a soggy texture and watered down flavor. The beansprouts themselves couldve been easily improved with a drizzle of sesame oil and pepper.Last small note would be that I was only given a fork, no accompanying knife. Minor issue as I couldve just asked or gotten one myself, just odd that they didnt include it. Obviously, one of the donkatsu slices wasnt cut through, and eating the last bits of the side dishes was troublesome as there isnt a utensil to stabilize the side dishes.Ill come back at some point, but the donkatsu is a decent dish thats held down by the side dishes and I cannot recommend it for anyone who has an itch for it.[/updated]Solid sweet potato friesBulgogi rice entree was large and easily fills you up. The sauce is lighter than most other Korean places, but the flavors are there and works well.Seoul burger is 50% of the reason I come here. Its a mess to eat, but its got everything I want in a burger from the egg to the sauce.
Courtyard Newark Silicon Valley
34905 Newark Blvd, Newark, CA 94560, United States
I work for a major manufacturer nearby so I stay in these hotels for the week, go home on the weekends and I ACCIDENTALLY booked the Newark location for a week. I usually stay at the Marriott Courtyard Fremont and I really wish I hadnt made that mistake. While I appreciated the location of the local shopping center... My overall experience with this particular Marriott hotel, was NOT a good one. Upon checking-in i was given an attitude and told there would be a charge of $200 for incidentals. I explained that at the previous Courtyard (Fremont) the incidentals were only $100 but I had no issue transferring money, since chase was across the parking lot. Upon arriving back at the hotel, she checked me in and NEVER ONCE MENTIONED THAT THEY CHANGED MY ROOM TYPE!!! I booked two queens and was given one King. My sister was supposed to come but decided not to. We specifically choose Marriott for the bed bc of my sisters MS and all the front desk clerk could say was well all our other rooms were taken and we have a sofa bed in the room. Although I booked my room a week in advance and made special requests in regards to the room setup, NONE OF MY SPECIAL REQUESTS WERE FULFILLED! My sister was livid and didnt come until the next day, when they switched our rooms. Having to move all my stuff from one room to the other was a task in itself, since we were staying for the week, and there was no offer of help. No reimbursement for the inconvenience or credits offered.Furthermore, the tub stopper didnt work so it was showers all week. The tub stopper and other fixtures had rust on them. The drawers hadnt been cleaned out in a while and where filthy so I just left my stuff in my bag for the week. The Courtyard in Fremont AT LEAST had meals to go (tv dinners, frozen burritos, sandwiches, soups/noodles, etc) in the lobby market. At this location I had to either order doordash or walk across the way to the shopping center for food. A major inconvenience when its raining outside.Last but not least, I was refused a print out of my incidentals. I explained that I could always see when they placed a hold on my account but never saw the release. I was told that bc I booked through a third party they could NOT print out my incidentals. AS A FORMER MARRIOTT NIGHT AUDITOR, I know this is NOT TRUE! I worked at Residence Inn in Vacaville as well as the Marriott Convention Center in Downtown Oakland. Regardless of who you book through when a hotel takes your card for incidentals, your charges are recorded in a FOLIO. I SHOULD HAVE BEEN PROVIDED PROOF OF MY CHARGES AND WHAT WOULD FALL BACK IN MY ACCOUNT! OH... and I still havent seen my funds released from the incidentals hold. Smh!The blonde Asian lady was extremely rude and dismissive when she told me she couldnt provide a print out of my incidentals and the money would be released in a few days, depending on my bank so I didnt need to worry. As a Marriott Bonvoy rewards member, former employee AND stock holder, IM EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED IN MY EXPERIENCE WITH THIS BRAND LOCATION! If I were you I would try the Marriott Courtyard FREMONT, not Newark! Fremont Courtyard is super nice with customer service, their market stays stocked and whenever I had an issue they resolved it immediately and went above and beyond to ensure the rest of my stay was seamless.
