My Vegan Restaurant
633 S Arroyo Pkwy #3, Pasadena, CA 91105, United States
Good food and also a good amount for the price; thats not something you always find in vegan restaurants. Its a fusion of Asian cuisine (mostly Thai) and some Americana. Beware the parking situation; its a small lot for several businesses, but the restaurant is worth the hassle.
True Food Kitchen
168 W Colorado Blvd, Pasadena, CA 91105, United States
This was a new experience for us as this was our first time at True Food Kitchen. Its in old town Pasadena off of Colorado Bl, which is a positive. They have an extensive menu with many vegan dishes. A relative suggested we try this place and commented that they had pretty good food, thus, the reservations. One thing we noticed was the main entrees didnt come as a full course meal. You get the entree, but no soup or salad. This could be easily explained as a way to keep the cost down, but either way, with the upbeat atmosphere, a more fulfilling meal would have been nice.On to the actual meal... I had high hopes for the food, but... I cant say that I was impressed. I ordered the Lasagna Boulogne (which according to the menu, contained fennel chicken sausage, mushrooms, organic spinach, ricotta and basil). Sounds like an impressive list of ingredients.I love chicken sausage and all of the various spices. I had high hopes, based on the Ingredients. When the dish arrived, it was lacking flavor, lacking chicken sausage, and lacking lasagna noodles. What it did contain was a ton of chopped tomatoes on top.Ill try not to be too hard on this particular dish but it was lacking flavor and there was no discernible chicken sausage. It had what appeared to be a 1 inch x 4 inch sliver of lasagna noodles. Additionally, it was a rather bland dish. As I sifted through the majority chopped tomatoes looking for the chicken sausage, I was met with disappointment. There was plenty of ricotta cheese, however, it was lacking my favorite ingredient in this dish, the chicken sausage. There was also no Italian seasonings.Service on the other hand was great. We had an actual comedian as our server who made our experience here awesome. She made sure we were happy with our meal, and kept our drinks filled. She really was an awesome waitress. We will return and try to go to where she is working since she was so attentive.I have to give the food a highly inadequate three stars but the server was five stars plus. Balance them out and I give True Food Kitchen four stars. As previously stated, we will definitely return and sample some of the other dishes. For those not familiar with Pasadena, True Food Kitchen is on the west end of old Town Pasadena on Colorado Bl and Pasadena Av.This is well worth trying, due to the extensive menu and superb service.
WaBa Grill
753 S Arroyo Pkwy Ste 1, Pasadena, CA 91105, United States
A couple months ago, I ordered and pre-paid on my phone for a meal for pickup at their Arroyo location during their posted business hours, and the store was locked up and closed with no signage about closing early when I arrived. While I was still in the parking lot, two other parties showed up for their pickups and, like me, found the store closed. I never heard from anyone at the store about what happened to my money or food. We are all trying to be cooperative during these interesting times but other food businesses, like Starbucks, alert you on their apps if pre-ordering is not available either due to early closure or high volume of in-store activity. Anyway, WaBa got my $15 and I got to drive away hungry. This was my first and only experience here.

Updated on 2/2/21So they keep surprising me in a good way every time we go. Whether it's the service, food or both. We stopped by for outdoor dining to find out they only had takeout or delivery today (Tuesday's). We were pretty hungry and don't live close by so we ordered from the take out menu options, pre-cooked.It was amazing. Same great food, but pre-cooked. They happened to recognize us and know we love the spicy drops, pickles, and Goma sauce and it was already packed for us in the bag.Yes, we were hungry but everything tasted sooooo great. The new item for me was the spicy tomato. Never tried it before and happy I did. Didn't really taste like I expected and certainly not like an American version of tomato soup. Had a slight tomato taste mixed in with a beef broth base with some spice as a kicker. Amazing. We ordered some extra meat and veggies in case the $10.95 pre-cooked bowl wasn't enough, but have to say it was plenty. Very happy to have some leftovers for tomorrow though. Will be back soon for both dine in and take out options very very soon! Thanks O'seyo!!!———-One of the best Shabu spots for food and service. Really nice take out specials as well. Can't wait to go back.Just adding a few pics from the last visit. All was awesome again and take out specials seem pretty good. Will have to try them.Update 1/4/22Obviously one of our regular spots. Took a little break due to Covid and having a new furry member of the family. Only wish they were pet friendly, but we get it.Food and service is always great and happy they have most of their specials and menu items on the menu. Feast for two is a great deal, especially if you go with the sake :) Beef for my GF and lamb for me, with soft crab app and churro for dessert. Delish!
Miss Cheese Tea Cafe
238 S Arroyo Pkwy STE 110, Pasadena, CA 91105, United States
I have tried the Mango Loves Coconut, Strawberry Sunset, Passion Fruit green tea, and Oat Milk tea with cream cheese, all of them with 75% sugar (all at different times, don't worry!!) The sweetness for all the drinks are all relatively perfect. When I first came and asked about the sweetness of the drinks, the cashier explained that they their drinks are less sweet compared to other places. If you're an extreme sweet tooth, you may not enjoy these drinks. I would recommend the ones with fruit in them though as they're made of real fruit and therefore, the sweetness in the drink is mainly composed of the fruit. The Mango Loves Coconut was just okay to me. Not a super fan, but it wasn't anything they did wrong. Presentation is super cute and they use this cup that is rounded on the bottom. Inside there were many chewy objects which I suspect were pieces of lychee and maybe other thing? (Hehe not really sure but they were pretty good!) Strawberry sunset was very good! The strawberry flavor was definitely real strawberry and I could also feel the seed when I was drinking it. The yakut added a very nice touch to the drink and overall it tasted wonderful. Passion fruit tea tasted pretty sweet and was very delicious. The Oat Milk Tea with Cheese Foam was probably my favorite. I really loved the oat milk as I was drinking it. Their cheese foam is absolutely delicious. It really made the whole drink taste sooo good. At the very end of the Oat milk tea they also add real oats! The real oats + cheese cream foam tastes very yummy.Overall, all the drinks were pretty good, the atmosphere is pretty calm, and not many tables (4). In response to the complaint about their wait time, Miss Cheese posted a blackboard stating your drink will be free if you were to wait for 30 minutes.Their famous soufflé pictured below was pretty good! Some tips: don't expect a french soufflé (it's not as light as those soufflés), and it takes a while for them to make it: 10-15 minutes? (maybe the owners of Miss Cheese should warm the customers; I knew it would take some time but didn't really know how much time.)
Umami Express
1060 E Colorado Blvd, Pasadena, CA 91106, United States
I have to be honest, it's a very convenient way to get the food. However the food wasn't good at all. Rice was so hard and I don't think they cooked the proper way. I mean hard, it's really hard to chew them, almost like raw rice.
Sweetfin Pasadena Kitchen
55 S Madison Ave, Pasadena, CA 91101, United States
Its extremely delicious if you know how to choose the right sauce combinations like yours truly (this applies to all poke places), but the portions are extremely tiny for 18 dollars. I got the chili noodles and the BYO. The kelp noodles as a base are also heaven. I can say that the combinations Ive gotten so far are fantastic. Id give it 5 stars, but only if the rules or training on the portions change. Otherwise, Id be happy to give my money to other poke places who have generous portions and cheaper prices like bay poke. They definitely nickel and dime you for the toppings. I had to pay extra for cucumber online after I reached the limit on the amount of toppings I had. It wasnt even a premium topping. At least increase the portions if were paying this much. Otherwise, its not worth buying from here when there are other places who dont nickel and dime.
Pumpernickel Deli

Love this local Pasadena gem! With an array of creative and delicious options for dinner and weekend brunch, prepare for a culinary adventure! Their cuban sandwich is a menu staple for a very good reason, and the quiche served at brunch is ridiculously light and fluffy; you really cant go wrong with any menu selection. They have a wine list thats approachable and complex in every way youd want a wine list to be. Menu items are frequently updated and often showcase seasonal ingredients. They also host phenomenal wine dinners with thoughtful and creative food and wine parings. The owner and staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, providing excellent service and a wonderful experience. Their outdoor patio is also dog friendly, and there is easy and free street parking. We are all so lucky to have Deluxe 1717 as part of the neighborhood!
Norton Simon Museum
411 W Colorado Blvd, Pasadena, CA 91105, United States
Norton Simon Museum is conveniently located in Pasadena, California by the 210 and 134 fwys. The museum houses Impressionist works, Fine Art works, Modern works and sculpture in addition to stone statues.Famous and notable artists include Van Gogh, Renoir, Monet, Edgar Degas, Diego Rivera, and Kandisky. The viewing room are spacious and there are many volunteers to answer questions. I recommend the audible tour. There is so much history behind each work that someone has painstakingly researched. Its fascinating why artists choose colors, paints, medium to paint on and what was going on in their lives at the time they created the art piece.Norton Simon Museum has a Cafe in the outside garden which offers sandwiches and refreshments. You can sit by the vast lily pond. Tour the garden to see bronze statues in a serene setting. The Museum Gift Shop is a gem. The inventory includes books, puzzles, games, cards, lithographs, jewelry, umbrellas and so much more. I bought an Impressionist jigsaw puzzle where you spot the artists in Belle Epoque Paris. Highlighting twenty different artists.Parking is on the property under beautiful Sycamore trees. The whole experience is very enlightening and tranquil. Operating hours are accommodating as the Museum is only closed three days out of the year, but closes at 5:00pm.
