Mongo Madness
746 Higuera St #6, San Luis Obispo, CA 93401, United States
Very Very Sad Experience!!After several calls and walk-byes we finally found this place open. Seems they have very random hours and employees aren't aware of muchOver half the ingredients we missing (including chicken and beef), most sauces were gone, no beer or wine. Didn't offer us rice. Out of water, no soda machine. All that for $12 a bowl :(Not a good start.....Grill wasn't even on during dinner rush?? Once it was hot the cook tried cooking 6 bowls at once. All different customers!! Everyone's food and sauces were mixed!! Then he tried to carry the food from the grill to the plate spilling 20% of the food on the floor or counter. He replied “sorry”. He even burnt on of our meal so bad he had to apologize for it but didn't offer to recook anytime. Probably best as they seemed to be strugglingMy food was extremely spicy even thou no spice was added. Who knows who's bowl of sauce I was actually eatingThis place had high hopes. They really need to get it together.Unbelievable disappointment. Shouldn't be open till they get it together, or have properly training the staff. Not to mention multiple health violations!!Who asks the customers if they should prep more food for a restaurant on Friday night @530???? What the heck we're they doing all day?? That should have already been done. We even replied you guys are still open 4 more hours correct?
Tiki Hut
1340 Taft St Suite114, San Luis Obispo, CA 93405, United States
I really like this place. Its good for meat eaters, and vegetarians. It reminds me (a little bit) of a Mongolian BBQ restaurant. You choose meat or shrimp (or no meat), sauce, veggies, and rice or noodles (or both).Im glad it wasnt overloaded with sauce. I was able to taste everything since it wasnt overloaded with sauce & spices. My friend needed extra sauce in hers.....thats how it goes....we all have different taste buds.Even though this isnt Chinese food, its similar to panda express; but waaayyy BETTER.Not a lot of room for seating groups of 4 or more. But, definitely worth a try.

San Luis Obispo Public Market
3845 S Higuera St, San Luis Obispo, CA 93401, United States
We really love SLO Public Market. Great selection of food; theres something for everyone. Bings Bao Buns is a real gem. Bottlecraft has great beer and an outstanding wine bottle selection. Theres a great buzz in the atmosphere without too much noise and excessive commotion. The one major ding was a change to the policy of allowing downstairs purchased beer and wine upstairs. The market has given Todo Bueno a monopoly on alcohol upstairs. This goes against the whole public market something for everybody spirit of the facility. Its such a damn shame. Todos options pale in comparison to Bottlecraft downstairs. Upstairs has a beautiful large outdoor patio that is now off limits to those who choose a drink downstairs. We used to hold book club meetings upstairs where it was quieter and tables more available. But weve not been back since this change. ?
Novo
726 Higuera St, San Luis Obispo, CA 93401, United States
Everytime I come back to visit friends and family I come to Novo. Having dietary allergies, and restrictions Novo always accommodates. Yet they dont skimp on the quality and taste. Someone who is pescatarian, dairy free and gluten-free its hard to find restaurants that make food that I can get excited about. Novo does a nice California bistro style with some Asian fusion mixed into their dishes very well. The service is always prompt, yet personable and just overall great experience. Which is how dining out should be, otherwise its just about consuming and I can do that at home. Novo is a great package for dining. Also love their restaurant Robins in Cambria too. Wonderful family worth supporting!
1865 Craft House & Kitchen

1865 craft house is a cool laid back higher end restaurant and bar. It has a very adult atmosphere where people might come for date night or a corporate dinner for people who just want a low key nightThey have a broad range of drinks and a extensive menu with some fusion dishes touching on American, Asian, and Italian dishes. If you come out on a cold night they have fires that they turn on directly at your table to help create a romantic atmosphere.Servers are very nice and super chill and easy to vibe with.If you’re looking for a cool date night spot and don’t mind paying $30-40 per person, this is your place to be!
Finneys Crafthouse - San Luis Obispo

Had a blast at Finney's in SLO. In fact, we enjoyed it so much, we ate here on both of our two nights here. It isn't that often that you have gluten-free options at a brew pub, let alone excellent food and service to go with those options, but that is the case here. We ate at the bar both days, and I thought both bartenders were outstanding! I'm upset I didn't remember the bartenders' names because they really help guide your experience. First day the guy was SO much fun, he acknowledged us quickly, didn't mind our fussiness when we moved seats, I think he actually got a kick out of us when I decided to try the skee ball machine (BOY that brought me back to my childhood!) and the teasing interplay between my wife and me, he enjoyed that and he encouraged me to go for it! He was just a lot of fun and a great bartender.LOTS of gluten-free options here. Loved the bacon deviled eggs (and they don't chintz you on the portion size). Loved the carnitas nachos. But those WINGS! I'm still thinking about them. Just terrific. And we were a little shy about trying the mango habanero as the sauce but he talked us into it and we were SO appreciative of that recommendation because they were delicious! Yeah yeah yeah, we're not young and not that spice tolerant, but he assured us it would be a great choice, and it was.I don't have the gluten allergy so I went with regular bun on the delicious cheeseburger and great crispy tasty fries. I LOVE when a restaurant offers a bison burger, and that's what my wife had and she thought it was great.Second night the bartender was also excellent, the service was great, and we enjoyed the rerun of the wings and went nachos this time. Not a bad dish in the whole lot. On top of that, I loved the classic rock and roll photos and the classic rock music they played here.Loved Finney's and will definitely return either when in SLO again or any of their locations!
Pokirito
848 Foothill Blvd, San Luis Obispo, CA 93405, United States
Took the family here so the kids could experience a Poke bowl. It was delightful. We found the flavors to be delicious; the meats were fresh and delicate, the veggies clean and crisp, the toppings popping with flavor, all blended well together with tangy sauce (I got the spicy mayo). This was our first experience tasting a Poke bowl in SLO county, so while I dont have another place to compare it to, I can compare it to other delicious foods in general Ive had, and this place stands out among them. The space is a little cramped, but we did easily find seating for four. Cool live edge tables and bar to eat at. And the staff was super patient and helpful with my kids.We all got the small size, which was plenty for all of us. My wife and I finished ours, and were quite satisfied, and the kids were able to save theirs for next days lunch. Great little spot!
