Thousand Wok Asian Bistro & Sushi Bar
450 N Moorpark Rd, Thousand Oaks, CA 91360, United States
Terrible service. I have been to this restaurant for several years, sometimes dine in, sometimes take out. Today like usual I ordered the food over a phone call, and was told the food will be ready in 20 minutes. I went there, first person said he will check. Several minutes passed no one help me so I asked again, another person told me they don't have my order. On their defense I ordered using an old menu so one item is not there. Anyway they offered 10% discount and let me ordered again. I waited for another 20 minutes, it's already one hour after the initial call. I asked them again with patient, but the food still is not ready. How difficult it is to make one pho and two sushi? They said they need to take care the dine-in customers first. But I am the person who came first and I have been waiting for one hour! I guess they only care about the big tips from the dine in customers. I canceled my order and left. I will never go back to this place again.

The dreadful experience at this Thousand Oaks restaurant wasnt just limited to poor service and subpar food quality, but also featured a shocking display of rudeness from the chef. When I received my rib eye with garlic noodles, I was taken aback by the overcooked and chewy meat, a far cry from the medium preparation I had requested. Upon speaking with the waiter and eventually flagging down the chef, I was met with a dismissive and insulting attitude.Rather than acknowledging the mistake or apologizing, the chef adamantly insisted that the dish was prepared as requested, despite clear evidence to the contrary. In front of other patrons, the chef proceeded to argue with me, even tearing a piece of meat to demonstrate its supposed doneness. This condescending behavior was not only unprofessional but also deeply disrespectful.Furthermore, when the dish was returned for a redo, the chefs lack of regard for customer satisfaction became even more apparent. The second attempt yielded the exact same overcooked dish, leading me to suspect that they simply reheated the prior meal. It was a truly appalling and off-putting experience that highlighted a severe lack of customer service and basic decency from the chef.Reflecting on this unsettling experience, it is clear that what could have merely been a culinary mishap sadly escalated due to the chefs unprofessional behavior and disregard for customer satisfaction. The disdainful approach and failure to listen or rectify their error turned a simple dinner outing into a frustrating ordeal. This was sadly underscored by an unwelcoming atmosphere created by the chefs demeaning attitude, something no customer should have to encounter. My recommendation would thus be to seek dining options elsewhere, where respect and quality are paramount, ensuring no such grievances overshadow your meal.

This restaurant in just down from a family members place, so we thought we could give it a try. The first time we went it was pretty good. Enough so that we chose to try it again a few months later. Our last experience (in early April) was a bit of a fail all-around. Once we were finally greeted by our server, we ordered several items straight out of the gate. First the garlic edamame as an appetizer, along with miso soup. The miso soup showed up in about 5 minutes, along with a few sushi dishes we ordered about 10 minutes later. It was a bit of a chore for the staff to keep our water glasses full. Funny enough, I had asked for a carafe or an extra glass from the start but our server instead asked if I wanted a straw? I think she missed the point that I was trying to make her job easier, but I digress. As soon as our food came. these fruit flies came out of nowhere. I saw them in the restroom but didnt think much of it. Now those same bugs were buzzing around, landing on our food. When I said something to one of the young ladies, she simply replied yeah they came early this year, normally they dont show up until summer. It must be the weather. Like really? Your a restaurant in California, not Costa Rica. There are easy ways to avoid bugs taking over your inside eating establishments.About 30 minutes after sitting down we were wrapping things up. All of a sudden the gentleman that works the front dropped off our garlic edamame. Now by this time we wrote it off and figured the server simply forgot to order them. A few minutes later our actual server finally stops back by to check in on us. She asked if we were good. I gestured to the edamame and said we actually ordered these as an appetizer, not a dessert. She simply replied yeah, I think the kitchen was back up. Not do you till want them? or our bad, its on us. Anything besides passing the buck in true millennial fashion.Based on this experience it will be our last. Its really unfortunate a local restaurant in such a tight nit community would be so disconnected from decent customer service. If you dont love your job, do something else. For a $50 tab most expect better than this, we definitely do. Save your time, your money, and your patience. I am giving 2 stars because the food is actually good. But whats that worth if the ambiance and service is off, and youre sharing your meal with the uninvited guests of the flying type.

Im giving them a 2 because their orange chicken and chow mein are good. However this last time my orange chicken came with a lot of stray peices of only fried batter, no chicken. The white rice here is no good, looks plastic.Anyways, the reason for the low review is for the terrible customer service. Ive never been greeted nicely as I walk in, even before COVID.I kept going because again, the orange chicken is good. Now I only order online for pickup and they never have the requested chopsticks or chili sauce in the bag when I pick up my order, I have to ask for them. This last and final order I made, I walked in to pick up my order and the lady who I thank is the owner or manager just said how can we help you? I let her and the lady at the register know I was picking up an online order and the cashier got my bag, when I asked for the chopsticks and chili sauce the cashier asked me how many sets, I said 3. The manager/owner? then grabbed the receipt attached to the bag like to see what I had ordered and maybe why I needed 3 sets? For reference, I ordered an orange chicken, a chow mein, edamame, and a cucumber salad. Plenty to feed 3. But then again, its none of their business for how many people my order was. I dont know. But her attitude is very standoffish and I will not return. If the community is supporting your business, especially during these times, the least you can do is treat your customers with kindness. Ive had other people tell me that they also dont get kindness when theyve gone there. Very disappointing from a small business that has potential.

Fusion Grill
2024 E Avenida De Los Arboles, Thousand Oaks, CA 91362, United States
The Asian-style appearance embraced by this restaurant gives a sushi bar impression but, what it houses within is much more incredible. It lives up to its name and offers a quality fusion-style mix of contemporary Italian, French, and Asian cuisine. I would argue they even go beyond that. There is a Jersey Mikes across the way but, I was so dissatisfied with their limited options and long line, I left in search of something new. I couldn’t be happier with discovering this fusion grill. I was tight on time and focused on getting something I could eat on-the-go. With a recommendation from the host, I chose the Ahi Tuna Sandwich. It included Sesame‎ crusted Ahi Tuna on a brioche bun, pickled red onion, pickled ginger, lettuce, and wasabi aioli. For less than the price of a Jersey Mike’s sub, I was able to enjoy something ten times better.Having such a good experience on the first go-around, I decided to make another visit before a DMV appointment. This time I was seated, and the waitress was attentive, fun, and friendly. I chose the Fusion Rancheros from the breakfast menu. It included three eggs, refried black beans, corn tortillas, avocado, chopped onion, cilantro, queso fresco, sour cream, and homemade green salsa. There was also complimentary fresh fruit alongside the meal. The service was prompt, and the food was again, fantastic. I have saved this restaurant as a favorite in my Google Maps, and I am definitely returning soon.

Fantastic Asian fusion restaurant. I specifically recommend doing their lunch combos. They come in to go containers which is nice because I always have some leftovers. I highly recommend the blistered green beans and drunken noodles. Everything I’ve tried on their menu is great and if I lived a little closer I’d probably be here more often.
