Panda Express
2234 Lincoln Ave, Altadena, CA 91001, United States
Edit-Darren is amazing and always has great customer service and is a credit to the company!! Yashua rung me up and he also had good customer service. This store is leapyears from the horrible service when covid started, Im glad they got rid of those other employees!!! I also added a star because they finally added a vegetarian option but they still cook in same wok/pans. My family love loves this place! It always smells amazing in here. I gave 4 stars because of how much my family comes here. I love how something fresh is always just coming out the wok. Its very freshly prepared. The location is always clean and the utensil section is never a mess. Ive never once had a bad reception from any of the employees. They are usually very outgoing and friendly. Now,heres where the 1star gets taken away. For a Chinese food place, where as, usually Chinese food can be safe for vegetarians, but not here. Everything is cooked with chicken stock. The vegetables are cooked in it,the rice is cooked in it, everything,so I have to suffer smelling this AMAZING smelling food and never have a taste(sad face). But definitely a place Ill bring the family to, especially on nights I dont feel like cooking. Dont forget to keep your receipt and do the survey and get an extra entree for free,it only takes a minute for some extra bomb food, for free.

Super Burger

Food was fine. The lady at the counter is very rude. Snapped at me get away from the counter. Even though we were both wearing masks. After we got our order. We sat at a table outside of their stand and started eating. The same lady shouts out the window you cant eat here go away. To which I had no response before we could pack up our 13 dollar combo, her son was standing over us. I told him please tell your mother she should learn how to speak to her customers. It was rude. He immediately started cursing at me saying no your rude. My male co-worker, An ex marine immediately started yelling back at him. As I walked back to the car. I wanted no part of the scene. The two men were shouting back and forth at one another . The son started video taping my friend as he walked back to my car. Then I who was not involved at all was also taped. Luckily the old man came to get his son so we drove off. Luckily it didnt escalate into anything physical. I think its a sign of the times. Maybe they have experienced discrimination as Asian Americans before which is why it escalated so quickly to a shouting match. Either way it made me sad I wasted money patronizing a mom and pop shop instead of an In and out burger only to be talked to like a dog after combined, spending 30 on a couple burgers and soggy fries. This should never be the new normal. Bad customer service is never acceptable.

Bulgarini Gelato Vino Cucina
749 E Altadena Dr, Altadena, CA 91001, United States
I don't usually write reviews. But the experience was unfortunately compelling and left a bad taste. I have been to Bulgarini three times prior. This time I purchased a box of cannolis and a two scoop and three scoop ice cream. I was charged $35.50, plus tip for a total of $41.00. The payment system is in Italian so I decided to check my bill thoroughly after I exited. My bill should be $30.50. I went back for a refund. My new bill, again in Italian, was again wrongly overcharged. On a third attempt, I added the bill for the server and was finally charged the correct amount. At this time, the server and I are cool. Accidents happen. But then the owner (the middle aged disheveled guy) gets involved and the ensuing problem that leads to my review:1) He asked me what the problem was. I told him I was overcharged. He questions the server. The server said it's fixed. Owner comes back to me “It's fixed, so what is your problem?” A bit confrontational, STRIKE 1. I agreed is fixed but explained that given my bill and the payment system is in Italian, this may add confusion for me. The owner tells me “I'm Italian”, STRIKE 2. I retort that I'm not (I am Asian) and Im paying the bill. I don't speak Italian therefore I cannot scrutinize my bill. His response? “The bill was corrected so I don't understand your problem.” Guess I struck out. My brother and I left without further engaging him.2) This next issue is speculation on my part. I already read two more Google reviews that also point out overcharging. My take? Hard to understand bill unless you speak Italian and multiple reviews regarding overcharged bills? I'll let other reviewers chime in and decide.PS the gelato is good, the server is good, cannot speak for the owner's service and the establishment's ethics.

Pizza Of Venice
2545 N Fair Oaks Ave, Altadena, CA 91001, United States
Found this place on Google after a poetry event nearby. My rule of thumb for new pizza places is always get the margherita because its a simple pizza. I liked it except the sauce had no flavor and there were sliced tomatoes on top. Being from Napoli, i expected I would get something close to what I typically from a Napolitean pizzeria. No judgement here since Venice is one of the few cities I havent visited yet and maybe thats the way they make their margherita? A family member got the Funghi (mushroom) pizza and out of either of those I really liked the Funghi pizza. But the star of this meal was the Brussels sprouts with the Korean sauce. It was so good I ordered some to go. I will definitely be coming back and trying the other pizzas and of course double/triple order of the Brussel sprouts.

ALDI
2246 Lake Ave Unit B, Altadena, CA 91001, United States
While at first I was totally unfamiliar with Aldi, its become my go to store. I love the fact that you need a quarter to get a shopping cart because this eliminates the ugly cart abandonment problem in the lot and surrounding neighborhoods. Not to mention car dings from runaway carts, which was a big problem at the former store occupying this site due to it being on an 8% grade. While Aldi does not have shelf after shelf of extremely similar competing products like other stores--I actually find this very helpful--I dont want to have to look through 30 types of cereal to find the one I want, what they have is excellent in taste and value, it often being their own store brand. Found some peanut butter and chocolate cookies at $1.38 a package, and they taste totally awesome, and would easily cost $3.00 or more anywhere else. Wine selection, while small, has a good range of prices, and the store brand, Winking Owl is an excellent value at $2.39 a bottle, and very suitable for everyday consumption. Likewise with the produce department not having a huge selection, but they have what you need and always have something great on special (like blueberries 2 for $3.00). Three is a large baked goods section, and the 12-grain bread at $1.69 a loaf would cost far more at Whole Foods or Sprouts, and tastes GREAT, toasted or not. I feel the meat department is the weakest department --its Costco style--where one must buy large packages to experience a cost savings, and since its just myself and my husband, its a hassle to buy a large package and have to divvy it up for the freezer. I buy my meat somewhere else, but thats about it. Dairy is one of the best values in the store, and I like the cage free eggs at at least $1.00 a dozen less than anywhere else. Dont mind bagging my own stuff, and the staff is always friendly and helpful here.
