Okumura Restaurant
17302 Ventura Blvd, Encino, CA 91316, United States
The quality of the sushi & sashimi at Okumura is top notch - the menu is not for the novice to such things though, so you may need some guidance from your waiter or an idea of what you like already when going in.That said - we know what we like! The hokkaido scallops made for fantastic sashimi, with a bit of truffle accenting the flavor.Albacore belly and Salmon belly were both fatty, delicious cuts of typically available fish that made excellent sushi.Whereas most restaurants offer an endless list of rolls, or dinner combinations that take the guesswork out of what do I get?, Okumura presents a list of fish with sushi or sashimi serving size options and not much else. I recommend a little research before going in, or remembering an order from a previous meal, for the easiest time dining here.
Thai on Ventura
17544 Ventura Blvd, Encino, CA 91316, United States
We found this restaurant just by chance and saw the Yelp reviews, which motivated us to try it.The restaurant itself is small and they made the best of the limited space. Nevertheless the atmosphere is cozy, nice soft jazz music is playing in the background and it's absolutely clean. The service is very friendly. The menu offers a big choice of different Thai food. I think everyone can find something to please their palate. We ordered chicken Satay as an appetizer. The chicken meat was deliciously flavored & juicy. The TOM KHA SEAFOOD SOUP(Coconut soup with mixed seafood, lemon grass broth, kaffir lime leaves, lime juice, coconut milk, mushrooms and fresh chili) was served in a flaming bowl to keep it hot. I ordered it medium spicy, which was quite hot enough for me. The taste of the broth was absolutely delicious, and it was loaded with succulent chunks of white fish, mussels and more shellfish. I loved it!My husband ordered PAD THAI (stir-fried rice noodles in special sauce with egg, bean sprouts, roasted peanuts, and green onions) with chicken. It was a huge portion, well flavored & delicious. The price, quantity and quality relationship is very fair for each dish!We will surely come back and try more of these delicious dishes.
Ping Pong Chinese Cuisine
17267 Ventura Blvd, Encino, CA 91316, United States
When I lived in Encino, I ALWAYS ordered from Ping Pong. In fact, I ordered from them so much that they knew who I was every time I would call. They always went significantly out of their way for me…often even delivering me my food after hours! Beyond just the fabulous service, the quality of the food is absolutely outstanding. With Chinese food, I often find myself feeling like I'm eating a lot of fatty chunks of meat & it could taste like it's been sitting out for a while. This is certainly NOT the case at Ping Pong. They're food always tastes so good! They clearly use the finest quality of ingredients and serve by far the absolute most freshly made dishes. They are definitely best Chinese food place I've ever ordered from. I must mention though, they are a bit pricier than my others. Personally, I think it's well worth it. The quality supersedes the higher price tag! Highlyyyyyy recommend
California Wok
16656 Ventura Blvd, Encino, CA 91436, United States
Last night on Christmas Eve we placed an online order. Then we were sent an email 30 minutes later saying that the food was ready. We showed up and the food was not ready and there were dozens of people waiting for food. After waiting for two hours we finally left. We were supposed to be spending time with family Christmas Eve not waiting inside of a restaurant for food that never came. Some had been there for two and a half hours and still hadnt gotten their food.As over 30 people stood in the restaurant watching them bring food ready to go and setting it on the counter, the food just sat there (picture attached) and wasnt passed out to the customer that ordered it. We all kept trying to ask them to tell us who the food belonged to but they were all too busy to stop and listen to us or check the food. It just sat there. Then 15 - 20 minutes later theyd take a quick glance at it. It was very frustrating. And many people got so frustrating, like us, that they left.CA Wok knew it was Christmas Eve and that they are usually busy and yet they werent prepared. They were understaffed and it was all poorly managed. They should have had one person just answering the phone and dealing with the online orders, one person just giving out the food to the customers as it was ready, and at least 2-3 people taking payments, checking to see when food would be ready, and dealing with customers. They did everything wrong and made customers waste time in their restaurant instead of enjoying the evening with family.
TeriyakiBowlandBurger.2 Encino
16260 Ventura Blvd #130, Encino, CA 91436, United States
This place is even better than their first location!! My fiancé and I have been OG fans of Teriyaki Bowl & Burger and are so happy they opened this new location. It has ton of seating, tvs, and a patio with heaters. Plus they validate parking! The food is 10/10. Everything is good. I get the Chicken Teriyaki Fries and it is a huge portion! Their sauce is on point too.Appetizers are a hit! Onion rings, waffle fries, and zucchini was super tasty.Plus this location has cocktails & beer!! Their strawberry mojito was really good. Beer on draft is good too! This place is a must try!!! The owner is the nicest guy and the staff is super friendly. It is great to support our local community.

PastaBar
16101 Ventura Blvd #255, Encino, CA 91436, United States
For a place named Pasta Bar, pasta isn’t the star of the show. To be honest, I was a little confused on what concept they were going for - Italian? Asian? Seafood-focused (given its sister restaurant Sushi Bar)? But perhaps concept doesn’t matter when you should let the food speak for itself.Ultimately I felt that this menu lacked cohesion. The first course starts heavy with a salty kale salad topped with wagyu, followed by the sharp fish sauce pungency of a crudo second course. You are then introduced to the first pasta dish of the night, Dungeness crab enveloped by a sheet of pasta, which was just so-so. Then dinner proceeds with some tasty but juxtaposing courses: everything-bagel trout, spicy Calabrian ravioli, chicken with cherry sauce (fancy ketchup), and a woefully unassuming pork finale. I could pluck these menu items from different restaurant concepts.Pasta is just an accessory to the menu (except for the one truffle pasta dish that was the best one of the night). You would probably not notice nor miss it.The setting was intimate but luckily not stiff thanks to their hip hop playlist. Pacing could be improved. They talked at length about the sauce reductions that took hours to make. Yet the minute I finished the course, it would be whipped away - let me soup up the sauce with bread!Hoping this restaurant improves.
Sepulveda Basin Recreation Area
17017 Burbank Blvd, Encino, CA 91316, United States
I grew up exploring the LA River and the basin is the headwaters. I used to catch an amazing variety of animals down there bluegill, catfish, minnows, enormous bullfrogs, huge crayfish. What I remember the most was there were these goldfish down there, literally thousands of them but these ones were different, they looked like Koi. Exact same coloration the oranges, blacks, white and gold. They averaged about 6 to 8 inches and the schools of these fish were enormous. Thats all gone now since they put in the water treatment plant, it hasnt been the same. The water got slow and warm, great for mosquitoes but not fish. Although, now there are turtles in the section north of Burbank and Ive seen some pretty big fish jumping, probably just regular carp. Now they got these huge birds: gray herons, great egrets, every duck species Ive ever seen, cormorants and seagulls and pelicans its kind of amazing -all the fish are gone, and then these birds show up. Nowadays, I go down to the section between Burbank and the dam looking for fossils in the sand bars and I find a lot. This whole San Fernando valley used to be in inland Sea and I find all sorts of shells fossilized crabs, sea sponges and occasionally turtles all in really good condition except theyre 16 million years old imagine that its crazy. If youre going to go down there wear your shoes at all times. Do not go barefoot anywhere. Stay away from the homeless people they are usually pretty mellow but still, you never know. Plus, whenever theres a meteor shower or a lunar eclipse or some sort of night time astronomical event, even 4th of July, the view is pretty good but you can find a really dark sky if youre down in the basin along Woodley. Night time viewing conditions are better there than anywhere up in the mountains. But, if you are there late at night, its amazingly cold even in the summer. dress warm. Thats about it.
EuroAsia Restaurant
17209 Ventura Blvd, Encino, CA 91316, United States
We held my sisters wedding dinner at EuroAsia and had an amazing experience. Half of us were Ukrainian and half of us were American and we all had an amazing time renting the banquet room. The food, entertainment (the restaurant provided singer), and the service was all above excellent. All the officiants and servers (Marina and her team) provided outstanding service. Every single one of our requests were met. This included placing our tables exactly as we wanted it and providing us great recommendations. The service during the event was perfect as well, it seemed as though anything we needed they could do. For example, my sister is pregnant and requested some chicken main dish while we were eating appetizers. The server came out and asked what kind of dish she wanted (chicken kabob or other options) and quickly brought her a portion just for her. This is just one example of the amazing service. Even one of the servers even printing a speech for me, going above and beyond. The serving team made us so comfortable throughout the entire process and went over our expectations. The food was amazing, every dish was deliciously cooked and everyone (American and Ukrainian) complimented the food. There was so much food and so much variety for everyone! Compliments to the chef! The restaurant provided us an excellent singer who served as a master of ceremonies. Ilya asked us for some idea what kind of music we wanted, and we reminded him we are Ukrainians. The singer made sure to include a lot of Ukrainian songs, even singing in Ukrainian. He did a great job getting to the dance floor - and everybody danced together for HOURS (Ukrainian/American/all). He dedicated songs to my family members, including my grandma. He did a great job with the playlist and even took our requests. Highly recommended.Overall, 10/10. This is our second time hosting a large event (50+ people) at this restaurant and both times were very memorable and we reccomend this restaurant to anyone who wants to throw a large event for their family/friends.
Calif Chicken Cafe
15601 Ventura Blvd, Encino, CA 91436, United States
First thing first. Three words that sum up California Chicken Cafe for me would be Fresh Ingredients always. This is most definitely a go to lunch choice of mine. I try to partake in a California Chicken Cafe salad at least one to two times a week. Very large portioned salads are to be had here. There is basically five salad choices that you can add to or subtract ingredients to suit your taste. Additional vegetables, proteins, pasta, and many other ingredients can be added to your salad for very low additional charges. I usually tack on about three dollars worth of yummies to my salad. My favorite go to salad would be the California Chicken Salad. Another plus is that the dressings are always served on the side, so the salad travels well. Meaning you can eat it later after driving it back to work, home, etc. California Chicken Cafe also prepares about eight or so wraps with white or wheat pita bread. They also specialize in rotisserie chicken and offer about a dozen sides to accompany a chicken order. You must try one of the five homemade juices featured at the California Chicken Cafe. My favorite is the lemonade. Downloading their App makes ordering easier by keeping your favorite orders stored. They really shuffle you through quickly with their curbside food delivery service. Give it a try you wont be disappointed.
