I (young-ish, brown and high-femme presenting at the time) was looking forward to a nice chat with a family member (young-ish, caucasian and femme) and their toddler at lunch. We came in and were directed to take a seat in the least comfortable seating location where all the hustle and bustle is. Located right beside the hallway and across from where the older lady was spraying all the menus down and doing prep work. We were the only customers in the restaurant. Shortly after we received our menus a group of middle aged bros (visibly all caucasian) came in and we decided to order to-go instead of having to be in that vibe throughout our lunch. Overall there was a lack of hospitality for us from the lady as she was doting on the group of guys ( that got to choose where theyd like to sit and got their drink orders taken before us). She also just had the overall attitude that she was angry with us each time she engaged. The toddler was just chillin and babbling as they do but nothing over the top. When the toddler was getting loud my family member took them outside to prevent any diners being disturbed. Also there was no ambient music or ambient sound makers in the space either so the overall mood was just flat and cold. When the lady brought our order out I kindly thanked her and I got the cold shoulder as she just dumped the bags on the table and waked off to check-in on the bro table -- not even a have a nice day as I left the restaurant. It was over a $50 dollar order with a tip too. She made a point of having us pay up before placing the order kinda like she expected us to dine and dash. When we finally got to a park to eat it we found the special tempura rolls had an absurd amount of sauce like it was completely drenched and sopping sauce when you would lift up a piece. The chicken teriyaki was bland. The nigiri I got was just so-so and the Albacore I got was also drowned in sauce. ALL OF THE TO-GO BOXES WERE USED UPSIDE DOWN as well so the overall dining experience at the park was cumbersome. Really disappointing dining experience and I would not recommend to anyone. Save your coins for a place that actually values you as a customer and has quality food. Highly recommend Thai House --> yet to find a good sushi place out here so thatll continue to be my go-to for good food, good hospitality, and good atmosphere.
Mu Restaurant
309 W State St, Redlands, CA 92373, United States
This was our first time here and we were were celebrating a birthday. We enjoyed our food very much. The service was attentive and pleasant. We ordered the tofu lettuce cups to start. They were three generous portions already in the lettuce leaf. They were delicious, but hard to eat because the sauce and filling fell out. I would rather the filling be served in a bowl with a stack of lettuce leaves on the side for me to fill one at a time. We also shared the red curry, sweet and sour tofu and veggie fried rice. We loved them all and there were no leftovers! The red curry was the perfect blend of spice, creaminess and sweetness. My mom had the orange chicken and said it was the best she has ever had. We finished with the purple ice cream for the birthday girl and it was delicious. A large serving for sharing. I cant wait to go back. They can make many items vegan. To Mu, you should put your restaurant on the Happy Cow app. I would have discovered you sooner!!

Clean, nice friendly service. Ive never seen the chain offer any coupons. Good food. Ask to taste a sample. Its usually crowded in the evening. Sometimes theres a bit of a wait. The person in front of you may take the last of an item that you wanted. Now youll have to wait 10 min for more to be made. At least you know it will be fresh! Watch when they bring a fresh batch of food to the steam table, they will dump the remaining old food in with the new. Mixing the 2 batches together is a big health code violation so say something to the manager. Some servers can be light on your serving size and will actually knock food off the serving spoon before placing the food in your container! I always say to them, Im a hungry guy, so dont be stingy with the serving, as they are getting ready to spoon it up. Usually that works and I get enough. Sometimes though I might have to make an additional comment like, come on now, Im hungrier than that!. LOL Yiu might even have to be blatant and say please give me more. The end side of the service area has items that cost an additional amount of $$ from the standard selection. It seems a strange way to charge. Its almost like saying the good stuff is over here if youre willing to pay more? They have self serve drinks as well as bottled ones at the register. They have a few sides like egg and spring rolls. Dont forget your fortune cookie...

Been coming for over a year and the lunch special is great. The chatting has died out and the food coming out is good. Service is always friendly and prices are reasonable.Wow!!!!! I love this place! I could hear the wok cooking my Kung Pao chicken. You get soup, rice, egg roll, and entree for $9...what a deal!! Let me tell you about the egg flower soup, it fills your body with warm delicious goodness. I put a little sauce and it just warms my heart. The entree was a good big portion that I couldnt finish, and that is saying something. The staff is very friendly. One suggestion to the staff, please keep the kitchen chatter down, it sounds like you guys are arguing and if thats the case, it makes it a little uncomfortable. But thats just because we dont understand otherwise I would be all into it ?New day new meal... I tried their General Tsos chicken, it was just orange chicken with different sauce. It was good, but I really dont like orange chicken because of the excessive breading so I was not expecting it.The talking between the ladies gets obsessive to the point that sometimes customers are thrown off or not attended to.
Sosogu Ramen & Japanese BBQ

Moving back to the states after spending 4 years in Japan Ive been looking to scratch an itch. Getting ramen after spending time in Japan has until now been a rather disappointing experience. Most people have no idea what good ramen even is.The most important part of a good tonkatsu ramen is the broth it must be thick, creamy, and coat your mouth with the consummated pork fat that is full of flavor. They got it, I could complain about it just not being the same as the ramen in Japan or not fully authentic but that honestly doesnt matter its delicious and checks all my boxes for a good tonkatsu broth. The noodles were good, I saw a review before coming here comparing them to spaghetti noodles and Im not sure what kind of spaghetti noodles this person is eating because these are very obviously an egg based noodle and not a spaghetti noodles by any sense. The chasu was delicious its kind of hard to mess up pork belly but Ive seen it done. Overall I have no complaints about my ramen after being consistently disappointed trying to find some half decent tonkatsu ramen on this side of the Pacific.I had a chasu bao as well it wasnt a traditional bao by any means and was served like a taco but that was also phenomenal and tasted delicious. The service was quick easy and friendly. The food got to us quickly and the whole place was clean with a slick hip vibe. Looks like they have yakiniku here as well and judging by the quality of their other food Im sure it doesnt disappoint. I would love to come back but unfortunately I live up north. The photos of the ramen may not look the most pretty because I decided to take a photo after we started eating. On the left is the garlic shrimp ramen and on the right is the black garlic ramen. There is also a photo of the chasu bao.
Hello Sushi

I came in an hour before closing (I'll be it that's on me) but when our food arrived the eel was super grey and tasted like I was at the pier. My company and I lost our appetite for the roll and were banking on the bento box to satisfy our appetite. When it arrived unfortunately the results weren't much better. The salmon smelled foul and after the experience we had with the previous roll we weren't going to even attempt to eat it. When we tried to bring it up to the owner he wouldn't even give us the time of day sending his poor waitress out to deliver the news that they were not going to help us. Insanely overpriced for the poor quality and terrible management. As well we were ignored for the majority of the time we were there except for once we placed a complaint. I'm a server so normally I would never post a complaint like this but I paid $40 for a meal I didn't even eat so I found that extremely unfair. At any place I've worked they would have comped that and the way we were treated was just extremely unfortunate. No hate to our server I'm sure she was doing her best but the owner needs to take some time to look at how his business is run and check the quality of his food before he sends it out to customersEdit- since the owner has decided to comment an incorrect statement of what happened I'd like to clarify. We never asked for it to be cooked or to receive the meal for free. We had asked if we could pay for what we ate, the beef teriyaki and the tempura and the two miso soups. We never asked to get free food and we never asked for anything to be cooked. I find it hilarious that someone who didn't even speak to us about the situation can comment and blame us for what had happened. Completely unprofessional and incredibly rude. I feel so sorry for anyone who works there because if this is how customers are treated I can't imagine how the workers are. Customer service is clearly not something this business cares about and I surely hope they can learn from this instead of bashing customers.

They have a clean, and friendly environment. They serve alcoholic beverages. I always get 2 Sapporo beers. Ive purchased 2 gift cards from them in the past for family members as Christmas gifts ($25 increments) Worth every dime. Im very OCD like with certain things.. like the inside and outside appearance, decor, table settings, temperature, social atmosphere, etc. Niko Niko constantly exceeds my high expectations. I enjoy going there and feel comfortable enough bringing a date for a relaxing evening. Service was excellent as always. Food always arrives in a timely fashion. I know this because my first my beer was only half gone before my food arrived. Most other places Im into my second beer before the appetizer even shows up. Also most importantly!.. The presentation, quality, and taste of the sushi is top notch. With that being said I highly recommend them. Side note: They display paintings on their walls that are for sale. Im assuming the paintings are from locals although in not sure. I thought that was interesting. To me that says a lot about the owner. Details like that are always a plus in my book. My last visit was on 2/9/15
Super Sushi

I cant say enough about how great this restaurant is! As you can see from my pictures, the wife and I have tried a lot of different rolls, and every one of them has been phenomenal! Each time we try a new one I say this is my new favorite, but honestly I cant pick a favorite because theyre all so delicious, beautifully made, and the fish is so fresh that it just about melts in your mouth. If you like a little heat, the Jessica Roll is perfect. If you like more heat, the spicy tuna rolls (they have several rolls with spicy tuna in them) packs a bit of a punch without the spice level overwhelming the flavor. The family that owns and operates the restaurant are incredibly nice. I didnt ask her name, but the owner stopped by our table to see how everything was and she ended up talking with us for a bit and even boxed up the rolls we couldnt finish for us at the table. Theres not a lot of places where you get a lovely conversation with the owner and such impeccable service like that! She told us her sons are all the waiters and one of them makes the sushi rolls, so even if she isnt there you know youre going to get consistent rolls and excellent service! I mentioned that she boxed up what we couldnt finish. We like to order a large number of rolls when we have sushi and take what we dont finish home to have for lunch the next day. Typically the rice will dry out, but the sushi here stays so fresh by the next day that it tastes like it was just made minutes before! The prices are incredible for the amount of food you get. We ordered ten rolls, goyza, egg rolls, and two beers at our last visit and the bill was under $150. You cant find this quality of sushi for that price anywhere else! The last thing that I think is worthwhile to mention is that the waiter and the owner were both very cool about us ordering so much. Were both smaller people and clearly not able to eat everything in one go, and weve had the wait staff at other sushi places comment negatively about the size of our order (we do not ever get all you can eat sushi, we only order individual rolls). When we placed our order here my wife joked to not judge us because we ordered so much but both the waiter and owner where very happy that we loved the food so much to place such a large order and the owner was clearly so proud that her sons talent was so appreciated by our tastebuds! Do your own mouth a favor and support a local business, I promise youll leave happy and full!

A regulars response to negative reviews: One year after my original review and I wish I could give them 6 stars. The chef, Rex, has a amazing talent for flavor combinations. I cant eat sushi anywhere else! The fish is always perfectly fresh and each plate is carefully crafted to complement the flavor of the fish. The husband wife duo that runs this place is amazing! I saw a review about Jini picking her nose and I 100% think that this a bunch of baloney! The woman is so classy, she was a ballerina when she was younger for crying out loud. I also saw a review about her being stern but she is always smiling and welcoming. I can say if you come in at 12:45 and say you have an appointment at 1 but want to place an order you might get a stern answer from her but only because your interrupting the other customers meals and making ridiculous requests.(Legit happened to us. The woman who came in was so loud and rude and expected her order to be done in like 5 mins.) With that being said, as far as service goes they now only serve 4 tables at a time. They are super devoted to making sure everyone gets perfect service and we do. Every time. Before, when they were serving up to 7 tables, it was so busy and they were rushing to make sure everyone was taken care of. Jini cut her hand open in the back and had to rush out to get stitches. Sure they could hire another waitress but I think it would ruin the intimacy of the place. If you happen to go in when its busy and have to wait I can tell you, it will be worth it. Between Rexs food and Jinis hospitality you will be well taken care of. When your a regular they take your photo and add it to their wall. They remember your orders and make you feel so welcomed. Its still our date night spot. We have tried so many amazing rolls its hard now to pick just 3 favorites and one new one. I order fish here that I have never tried at other places because I know it will be fresh and that Rex knows exactly what to pair it with. This is not your run in and run out Sushi spot where the fish is covered in 6 different types of mayo to cover up its lack of freshness. Its a 5 star restaurant hidden away right here in Redlands.Original review: You want legit amazing Sushi? ? GO HERE NOW!!!! Multiple roll options for people who dont eat rice!!! The people are so nice, the service is great!!!! Ooooo my gosh so yummy!!! This is our go to date night!!!

Beware when online ordering - I ordered online today as the website states they open at 10am. I get a call from the manager stating that i had to change the order cause they open at 11am today. I advised of the website and advised how was i supposed to know that. He said that instead of fixing the website they left it as it is as its hard to change. So I asked him to go ahead and changed my delivery from 10:30am to 11:30am, which he said he did (mind you im at work and this is supposed to be ready by my lunch hr). Later when its 11:30am i get a call from one of the employees stating that i have to reorder the order since instead of changing the time they just cancelled the order and i would need to go pick it up. I cancelled the order instead and now i have to wait for the money to be placed back on my credit card. Never online ordering from here again.
