Lucky Elephant Thai Cuisine

This place has changed in their level of service over the years--perhaps due to the stress of Covid. We all have to deal with it in the best way we can, including in our jobs. As a teacher, I have experienced great challenges as well, but still provide the service that is expected. This was my review from 2019, before Covid--had given 5 stars originally:What a wonderful experience!Delicious Thai food with gracious, welcoming, and attentive servers. The decor is breathtakingly beautiful with exquisite wood carvings throughout the restaurant. This was our second visit. Highly recommended! This is my review 4/30/22:The food is still good and the atmosphere is beautiful, but there isnt that same friendly, happy feeling throughout the restaurant and from some of the servers. On 4/29/22, I took my mom there for her birthday. In The United States, its customary to give the person celebrating their birthday a complimentary dessert--usually cake, pie, or ice cream. Many places also sing Happy Birthday. I realize this is an asian restaurant and I dont expect them to sing, although it would have been nice. However, if people want to live and do business in a country, they should follow the traditions and customs of that country in terms of how they do business. In this case, provide the complimentary dessert for the birthday celebration without restrictions or a negative attitude, which is what we got. After I made this request, the waitress was hesitant, but said that she could bring some Thai donuts (very small donut holes) with a little cream sauce. I paid with a credit card and a coupon from Valentines Day (I very rarely use any kind of coupon). One of the workers came back with the receipt to sign, etc. and said that I shouldnt use a coupon with the request for the complimentary dessert--wow, cheap donut holes! She said that she gave me the credit this time. It was like a parent or teacher saying, Dont do that again! Its their responsibility to tell me that they cant take the coupon before they complete the transaction. Its their business, not mine.I would rather have had a pleasant experience, not ruined at the end as it was, than get a few dollars off!
Top Thai Table

I was not able to order any food because the young lady taking orders had a negative nasty demeanor about her self. I am not from the area and enjoy Thai food and decided to give this restaurant my business. The young lady had a negative attitude. I notice know one sitting in the restaurant aroud 1:04pm which is around lunch time. I asked her if she had an attitude she of course said No in a hasty voice as well as her body language and her presence was not full of light. She told me to get out of the restaurant she doesnt care about her attitude. Her words were if you dont like it Get Out! Which I did. Anyone patronizing this business will be disrespected by the young lady working there . Running a business you should have morals, respect and integrity. She had none of thee above.Peace
Sushiya

God, I love this place. I travel for a living, and I get SO excited when I can come back here. The food is GORGEOUS and top-notch quality, even for Southern California, where I feel some of the best sushi standards exist in this country. I get the Tako Wasabi every time. It is amazing and most sushi places dont offer this. I also got the Ankimo again, which I just adore. This time I got the Pctopus Carpaccio, and Im in LOVE with it. I also got the super fatty yellowtail, and I cant believe km saying this, but it might be TOO rich. I doubt Ive ever said thise words. Haahhaaa. I also got the conch sushi. Im glad I tried it, but it was just ok. I did, however try the salmon belly, and it was amazing! The one issue I have with this place is the music. Now dont get me wrong, I personally listen to a lot of what they play, but my boyfriend refuses to come back here, because he is a teacher and he cant believe they play music with the worst of the worst swear words in it, with children in the building. I think the owners need to consider that their teenage employees might not be picking music thats doing then and favors. Im no prude. I have a total sailor mouth, but when children are around, I act like an adult. I would NEVER bring my children here, if I had any. Just saying. Otherwise, this place is my fav sushi place in the entire country. I just have to come here alone. :(
Panda Express
508 N Lone Hill Ave, San Dimas, CA 91773, United States
I used to go here all the time. Then they took sweet shower pork off the menu and they took eggplant off the menu. Then they discontinued egg flower soup and they discontinued hot sour soup. So I spend about 1/4 amount of the money I used to at Panda Express! I started going to Panda inn in Pasadena in the early 80s and it was on of our family favorites. Then they started Panda Express around 1983 or 84 and it became one of our favorite places. Theyve reduced their serving portion sizes and reduce the size of their containers for your third item on a large plate. Also, theyre online ordering leaves a lot to be desired. You cant tell them how many of a condiment you want like hot mustard. They dont even have sweet sour sauce as a choice. You have to put it in the note section and hope they get it right! I just picked up my online order and ask them at the window to make sure I had four sweet sour sauce in the guy said yes I did when I got home. I only had three. I asked for four hot mustard and I only had three. When you ask him at the drive-thru window microphone then again at the window and they get it wrong. You wonder whats wrong with her customer service or have they been told to limit the amount that you get for condiments? I got the bowl today November 12th 2023 and it didnt have very much of the main item on top! The quality of the food is always been good, but Im not excited about the customer service or the portion sizes anymore! I used to go there twice a week because Im 80 years old and dont like to cook anymore. But now I just go there when theres some kind of deal. Like today there was a BOGO for a bowl. When you send in a complaint they send you an email back with a coupon for an extra side but you have to buy a two side plate to get it! The family that owns Panda inn and Panda Express just bought a 42 million building in Pasadena next to where theyre rebuilding the original Panda inn! So we as customers are paying for it by getting smaller portions!

I really like the place, but the behavior of the cashier girl with the blue hair, is abysmal . Im not sure if the older asian couple cooking and serving are the owners or not, but every now and then I see her scream at them for trivial things, and they never reply back. I really feel bad for them. Im surprised to see that she still works there, inspite of all the tantrums that she throws, regardless of whether there are customers or not.First time I saw her do that, I dont know what she was upset about, but she stormed inside the kitchen leaving all the customers waiting in the line. An argument ensued. She then came out and started putting the chairs in place by banging them loudly and telling everyone sitting there how much she hated working there. This was almost a year ago, and she is still workin in the same spot. It was really uncomfortable being there as a customer. The second time, she took so long on one of the orders, that the guy behind me walked out.The third time, today, my order got messed up. I pointed it out and she came out of nowhere and yelled at the couple again. I wrote it on the ticket, she said. It wasnt even a big deal to me. Nothing I would lose my sleep over, but she made the situation embarassing.I really like the spot. Ive had enough of her though. No one wants drama in the little time they have to eat their lunch. Not worth it.
O Sushi & Grill

I moved to the area about 4 years ago when I first tried this restaurant and honestly, I was not impressed during my first visit. I distinctly remember trying it again during the pandemic. I had oysters that time and they were horrible so I thought I would never go back. However, its close to home and very convenient for me so I decided to give it another chance, post-pandemic, and it was excellent. Ive been back 4 or more times after that and the restaurant has been consistently great so I am glad that I gave it another chance. The sushi has been so fresh, the rolls are delicious, the service is fast & friendly, and the atmosphere is very quaint. There are some other local sushi restaurants that have more of a party vibe with loud music, which I like on occasion, but I like coming here sometimes for a nice, peaceful meal with the family without having to wait in a long line, even during peak hours.During my last visit we had the spicy garlic edamame, miso soup, albacore sashimi, Summer roll (crab meat wrapped with tuna, salmon, albacore, no rice), Sunset Action roll (salmon, crab meat, avocado, albacore on top), and the Sweet 16 (lightly fried red snapper with spicy crab on top of a shrimp tempura roll). All of them were delicious, but my favorite was the Summer roll.
Teriyaki House
1415 W Arrow Hwy, San Dimas, CA 91773, United States
Weighted score, 5.1, explanation below. So, this is a very earnest food establishment. The shop gives off a vibe that the staff have a strong desire to please with their product. The furnishings and decor are nice, dated, such that you feel you are in the 90s or 00s, which isnt bad here as it is clean and in good shape. Environment inside cuts out the outside in a good way, could easily spend a few hours with company and not realize how much time had passed outside. Food is very good. Though I like my teriyaki chicken with slightly more salt and garlic, but was just fine, some would likely appreciate it more as is anyway. Macaroni salad was great. House made thousand island dressing, was fine. Picked ginger and cabbage were good. This meal was all around very good, felt like going to someones home for a meal. Last bit that put it over the top for intent to please (weighted addition), they give an individually wrapped wafer in a plastic bag sealed with a thank you sticker. I cant think of another food location that has gone to such lengths to please, amazing, got .5 added to overall score. Will come again, will bring others, anytime want teriyaki am coming here, best teriyaki plate that I know of in So. Cal., cannot recommend enough. Thank you for the delightful meal.
WaBa Grill
1036 W Gladstone St, San Dimas, CA 91773, United States
Waste of time. I made a pick up order for 6:30pm on 9/14 for right when I get off of work. Got to the store and called the curbside # to get my order. The girl who answered made it found like she lost my order or something? She said my order would be out in a FEW minutes in a confused tone. As I sit and wait 3 other people who did not have online orders went in- places their order waited for it to be made and then walked out and drove off. I know this because I could see through the window of the waba grill. Finally I get an email that says my order has been completed yet my order was never given to me. I go inside, ask about my order. It's not ready- she has to get everything together still. What's the point of setting a pick up time if they don't care about it?! On top of that- food was cold and the order was wrong.

I finally got to try this new boba place near me however I was a little disappointed. I got the caramel vanilla smoothie with boba (total $5.34). When I went the guy said they were out of boba. He said they only had 1/2 a serving of boba left, mid day which is kinda weird since people usually go for the boba in their tea. He gave me the boba for free (62¢ extra) however it was hardly anything. Even if it was a full serving it still wouldnt be enough. The drink was okay. Blended milk and ice and some caramel drizzle at the bottom. Couldnt really smell or taste any vanilla. Once I finished the boba I threw the rest away. I would try a different boba spot next time. Also the owner took the time to reply to my Yelp review very rudely unfortunately saying I have a “hateful personality” for the review. Just cuz something is free doesn't mean its good. Just want to be honest and don't want people to waste their hard earned money.
