Nomura Sushi Restaurant
14622 Ventura Blvd STE207, Sherman Oaks, CA 91403, United States
I was in the valley and wanted sushi take out. Found this spot on Yelp and loved that they had a 15% off coupon for checking in on Yelp so I tried it out. When I ordered on the phone the lady was very nice and said it would be ready in 15 minutes. I got there 20-25 minutes later and it was not completely ready but they were very apologetic about it so I didn't hold it against them because it was short and I was able to check out the restaurant. The place is small and on the 2nd floor right when you get off the escalator. They have outside and inside eating. There were only about 4 parties (mostly outside) eating here. I was surprised it was so empty on a beautiful Saturday night. I ordered the spicy edamame, spicy tuna on crispy rice, and a salmon avocado roll with a side of eel sauce to go. I was excited to try the food, the salmon avocado roll was ok and very big. I normally like my seaweed inside of the roll not outside. The fish tasted fresh though. The spicy tuna on crispy rice was good, loved that it came with spicy Mayo and eel sauce. And the spicy garlic edamame was ehh. I'm used to more flavor with it, but maybe it was like that because I got it to go. All in all I'd give the service an A and the food a B. There was nothing special about this place but I would still come back and try something different because the people were really nice, food's ok, it's convenient, and quick. I'll make sure to update this post when I do.And P.S, if you park in the lot in the back, make sure to get your ticket validated. I was in there for 5 minutes and the cashier tried to charge me $3 after he told me I had free parking for 2 hours. But he gave me a pass and said he told me “2 hours free with validation” so now I know for next time

Take out very disappointing after an amazing in dining experience a year ago for the person I take care of her 92nd birthday the server was excellent we had a party of 10 the food was on point I believe we had a bottle or two of wine. The server was extremely attentive Im sure our bill was hundreds of dollars in his tip was generous. We are now in a time where takeout is everything. I drove to pick up the food I ordered it over the phone so there were no mistakes and thats where the problems began the young lady who answered the phone knew nothing about the menu or pricing. I could not find any pricing on the online menu so I had to ask about absolutely everything she became very frustrated after putting me on hold several times or calling back to whoever could answer instead of the appropriate move of management taking over the call they finally did after I ordered 6 things I started the call by telling the person I was ordering at least eight things and I had a lot of questions so there was just no excuse here. Im also Ada I asked about parking because I didnt want to walk across the whole Mall I was never given the correct answer to my question it was more of a blow off but I found the elevator we used when we dined in. Only problem was that elevator was not in service so I park near the clothes valet and walked across the mall because they didnt do curbside service unless you order through the app. My order was ready I had to actually ask for an itemized receipt as I was only given a copy of my credit card receipt I also had to ask for extra utensils and chopsticks with all the food we ordered only four sets of utensils were included at the time. Someone should have simply asked how many I need. I drove right home and we open the food nothing tasted like it should I was absolutely floored this is the second time I took take out and the second time the food didnt travel well. This will be the last time I take out from pfchangs. I have a lot of patience in these trying times but I do not have patience for all of this they were not even that busy there was no reason I could see for myself as a customer to be treated the way I was treated and the etiquette followed and such an unprofessional manner. The only one that was nice actually was the same server from RN dining experience hes always cheerful always helpful hes the one that got me my receipt when I requested it didnt bat an eye. I know hes been there a long time I hope they know and appreciate him.

Anajak Thai Cuisine
14704 Ventura Blvd, Sherman Oaks, CA 91403, United States
Oy, where do we begin. We were so excited to dine here. We specifically flew across the country from nyc for a dining experience at Anajak. We were a party of 2, arriving at 5:30p to get on line for Thai Taco Tuesday, starting at 6p. It didn't take long to be seated. We were seated outside at a shared table. It started drizzling when we sat. When our apps hit our table, it started to really rain. Anajak did not put up umbrellas or offer anything to help mitigate the rain. For the price range of our dinner, we expected a little more effort and consideration of the guest experience.Regardless of the rain, we were still stoked to try the food.We started with the tostadas, the kanpachi ($17 per) and the chutoro + uni ($29 per). It was beautifully plated and presented. The quality of the raw fish was very good, but its freshness was drowned out by an overpowering cloying sauce. The sauce was all you could taste. We also got the striped bass fish tacos ($18 for 2), which were not only underseasoned but also underwhelming. Texturally everything was very soft, from tortilla to the fillet, even though it looked like there was a good sear on it.We were so excited for the thai fried chicken ($34). It looked so good in photos and in reviews, but we were ultimately disappointed. It had a good crunch, but the meat itself needed a lot more salt. Inside the crunchy exterior, was texturally dry meat.We finished with the Dungeness crab fried rice ($28), which was sadly kind of mushy. Similar to the fish taco, everything was uniformly soft. We were not even sure if this really counted as fried rice, as it seemed to lack… the fried aspect. We spent $270 after tax and tip for 2 people. We did not feel that the experience matched the price, especially given the quality of the food and service. We are both industry folks so we understand that it might have just been an off day, but it was nevertheless super disappointing to plan a whole trip across the country for a honestly mediocre experience. We ended up canceling our second dinner reservation at Anajak later in the week following our experience at TTT.I think the tipping point was spending $270 to dine in full rain, having to ask multiple servers for another plate when our current one got too wet to put food on. We werent sure why guests werent moved inside, as there were empty seats inside. We thought it was first come first serve so we werent sure what the empty tables inside were held for. Regardless I think we would have forgiven the rain (as we understand it doesnt rain often here), had the food been really good. Our final bill didnt include our bottle of wine ($80), and we had to point that out to our server. We thoroughly enjoyed our bottle and our somm was very helpful, so we wanted that to reflect in our bill.We wish our experience was not what it was and that Anajak had stayed as a figment in our imaginations.
Kura Revolving Sushi Bar
14006 Riverside Dr Suite 24, Sherman Oaks, CA 91423, United States
Lets be honest, NOBODY who likes sushi is going to Kura because the food is high quality. Everyone goes for the experience and the novelty of conveyor belt sushi dining. Ive been to the Torrance and Cerritos locations multiple times and tonight was my first time at the Sherman Oaks one. In comparison to the other two locations, this one definitely has the lowest quality fish and also the most limited menu. I went with my best friend tonight and it was her first time experiencing conveyor belt sushi. When we got there and checked in they were on customer 171 and we were number 289. We waited over 2 and a half hours happily and never complained to the staff because its Friday night and understandably very busy. By the time we were seated, it was already way after 9pm but we were still very excited. We finally get seated and before we start with anything I asked our server if it possible for us to have separate checks and he confidently answered yes, they could absolutely give us separate checks at the end of our meal. Perfect, we finally start eating and my best friend is having a great time. Were having fun and finally eating after starving for hours. At the end of the meal, we ask for the check and our server seems to be having a difficult time with putting our checks together and he calls over a coworker (young, early 20s, red headed male) to help him. Let me also mention this is taking place out in the open LITERALLY TWO FEET from us. We can hear and see them. There are NO barriers or walls between us. If I stood up from my seat and stuck my leg out I would have kicked one of them on accident. Now, since another person is getting involved with our bill, it obviously catches our attention and we sit and watch while the red headed male server starts huffing and puffing, heavily rolling his eyes like his soul was leaving his body, shaking his head in annoyance, and complaining about us. After witnessing this literally 2 feet from us, we politely tell them if its not possible and too difficult then we are happy to just split the bill. So the coworker (not our server) comes over and says something along the lines of dont worry we have customers that ask for much worse and difficult tasks. The audacity he had to say that even after we asked to just split it to make things easier made us livid. Had we not been told BY OUR SERVER at the beginning of the meal that it was fine to have separate checks then we wouldnt have even asked at the end of the meal to do it! Even if he realized after the fact that it wouldnt be possible all that had to be said was Hey, Im so sorry but it turns out our system wont allow me to separate the checks that way, would you be comfortable with splitting the bill in half instead? Instead, we got eye rolls and sighs. I understand this is a new location, people are still training and employees are new BUT I would like to think its common sense not to do such outwardly rude things right in front of the customer. So now, we have long waits, mediocre sushi and a spoiled experience. This kind of behavior from employees should not be tolerated by this or any other establishment. I understand perfectly that work is crazy, stressful and Im sure there are plenty of very difficult customers but the complete lack of professionalism in this case is appalling.
Izakaya M
13573 Ventura Blvd, Sherman Oaks, CA 91423, United States
Today I dined at Izakaya M. and unfortunately, I must express my deep dissatisfaction with the service I experienced. The waitresss rude demeanor and unpleasant glances throughout the meal made the overall dining experience truly miserable.I have a food allergy to avocados and kindly requested to substitute them with cucumbers in my crispy rice order. However, the waitress informed me that there would be an up charge for this substitution, which seemed unreasonable given that avocados are typically more expensive than cucumbers and only a small amount of avocado was usually used in the dish. When I pointed out that I had visited the restaurant before and never been charged for such substitutions, the waitress suggested speaking to the manager. I agreed to do so, but to my disappointment, the manager never approached me during the meal. I assumed the issue was resolved, but to my surprise, when the bill arrived, there was an extra dollar charge for the minimal amount of cucumber I had requested.Upon questioning the waitress about this discrepancy, she outright lied, stating that I had never asked to speak to the manager. Her attitude towards me was extremely disrespectful, and she even went as far as to claim that the owner was present and offered to have me speak with her. I agreed to meet the owner, hoping to resolve the matter, but regrettably, the owner never came to address the situation.Later, the manager approached and conveyed that the owner had requested that both my guest and I not return to the restaurant. I was appalled by this decision as the waitress had clearly deceived the owner with inaccurate information about the incident. The unprofessional behavior displayed by the waitress, her dishonesty, and the lack of action taken by the management team and owner have left me disheartened. I had hoped for an enjoyable dining experience, but instead, I was met with disrespect and an unfortunate outcome. As a customer, I believe in fair and honest treatment, and I am deeply disappointed by the way this situation was handled. I cannot recommend Izakaya M. to anyone given the unprofessionalism displayed by the staff, particularly the waitress, and the lack of accountability from the management and owner.
Panda Express
14561 Ventura Blvd, Sherman Oaks, CA 91403, United States
I went to this Panda Express location Sunday February 17th around 12:30-1:00. I have NEVER had a worse customer service experience in my life! The manager on duty said his name was Paul. Was so rude and really tried his best to escalate and make the situation much worse. He took my money and would not give me my order. I showed him on my cell phone that the charge went thru but he said because it said pending he would not give me my order. I told him every credit card charge says pending when you use it until a day or two later. I literally could not believe this man would not give me the food or money back. I didnt know what to do. This man stood there mocking me. I called the police on him. He picked up his phone and said Ill call too. Very mockingly and childish. It was humiliating. This kind woman stood up and said she heard everything and that people in the restaurant business should never put profit over people. I also showed her my bank transactions to show that the money went thru. She paid for the food that I already paid for and this guy kept trying to incite an argument with me. I was just stunned and had to ignore him. Ill never go back to that location. I told Paul he is a disgrace! I will be calling corporate first thing in the morning.
Muzen Roll & Boba
14834 Burbank Blvd, Sherman Oaks, CA 91411, United States
This little “hole in the wall” Japanese cafe has the best chicken katsu in LA.Super fresh, light and crispy katsu breading with juicy white breast meat, served in the bowl on soft, warm rice with a side of lettuce salad and topped with pickled and crispy veggies with lotus root slices. It's so simple but so thoughtfully, well made. Truly a little piece of authentic Japan here in a random strip center in Sherman Oaks.I also had a nice warm cup of lightly sweetened Jasmine green tea on a cold day while waiting for my car at the dealer. It's a small storefront that seats about 12 total (4 individual seats + 2 tables of four) and provides a nice, calm ambience, with a very clean and tidy space. Nothing lavish but truly the perfect setting for eating some fresh Japanese home cooking. They also have an assortment of other sushi and Japanese dishes, along with crawfish here.I'll be back again for sure.

VE station
14435 Ventura Blvd, Sherman Oaks, CA 91423, United States
The menu is vegan gourmet with a large hint of thai and overall asian influence. I have been pleased with every item I have had here and the weekly special items are always very good, and truly artistic. The ambiance is very pleasant and the casual atmosphere is relaxing while the wait staff has been attentive, pleasant and professional. I highly recommend veSTATION restaurant.
