Chong Qing Mei Wei Szechuan Restaurant
5406 Walnut Ave suite c, Irvine, CA 92604, United States
My friend and I have gone to this restaurant many times prior to last evening, 7/6/16, and I have ordered take-out several times as well. I was absolutely shocked to find that the prices were considerably higher than they used to be. Were not talking 50 cents or a buck, were talking 2 to 3 dollars MORE per item. When I questioned the manager about this, he said it was the owners decision, to which I replied And not a good one. AND to add insult to injury, they charge $1.00 for rice per item. They charged for rice before, but now with those exorbitant prices, rice should come free with the items ordered. My friend and I noticed that it was not as crowded as it used to be either, and no wonder. We usually order 4 or 5 items, so we can have leftovers, but its so expensive now, we only ordered 3, and didnt have much to take home between us. The bill came to almost $50.00 with tax, and it really should have been $35.00. I am a senior citizen living on social security, and I absolutely cannot afford to ever eat there again. Dont get me wrong, the food is outstanding but I could only give one star because of the prices. Back to Sam Woos next door or on Culver I guess, even though Im partial to Szechuan as opposed to Mandarin. Its just a shame that greed has taken over the owners conscience and spoiled it for everyone else. Can anyone suggest a good Szechuan restaurant whose prices are reasonable?

Really wanted to like this place. Food is just ok. Ordered HK style crispy noodles with shrimp and ck, $16.50 and I got 4 (31-40 size small shrimps) and lots of chicken. Mushroom with bok Choy was good, but for $15.95, expected more portion. Got the imitation meat kung pao ck, the imitation meat is probably one of the worst tasting ones we’ve had, and we’ve had many from all over the world - It’s bland and watery and nothing like real ck. We also got s&p tofu, that was good, but again, for $13.95, expected more (most places charge $8). Brown rice is $3.75 for a small bowl.Service was nice, almost a little too much as I was approached twice just walking by glancing at their menu OUTSIDE.Overall impressions, food was bland (even for my standards), pricey and portion is a little small for the price. Service is good if that’s what you’re looking for, which is rare for Chinese restaurants.
Mr dragon noodle house

Bright, Chinese restaurant with particularly yummy stir fried beef udon. I also split a beef rib noodle soup and spicy shrimp wontons with my dad. We were a bit overly ambitious with adding additional spice to the wontons - they’re plenty spicy on their own. The noodle soup had a nice kick as well. Food was brought out as it was ready. Credit cards accepted. Indoor dining was spacious. We came for a late lunch at 3pm on a Sunday but there were still people coming in. Free parking available. They speak both Mandarin and English.
Dumpling Hours
United States, California, Walnut Creek, N Main St, 邮政编码: 94596
There are very limited Chinese restaurants that serve dumplings and noodles in Contra Costa. Typically would need to go to the South Bay or San Francisco for quality. Gave this place a try for the first time. Ordered the standard dishes to give a proper judgement: Pork Xiao long bao and spicy braised beef noodle soup. This is a modern/fusion with an American twist. Both were disappointing. The Xiao long bao soup tasted sweet. The black vinegar sauce hardly had any ginger slices and the spicy beef noodle soup was mild in spice at best and the beef wad full of fat. Luckily it wasnt chewy. The tomatoes were served raw whereas traditionally they are cooked in the stock.

Picking up some to-go earlier, the server wanted to verify if the order was correct. Sometimes I picked up for myself, but if it was for others, it was hard for me to verify unless I opened the bag, which would displease the actual consumer. The server was cordial though and verified at the end. It's a cute little store; the signage indicated that it was organic. Part of their store is assigned for dining and the rest showcases their snacks and variety of items, mostly natural I suppose. Trust they are selling quality items. It's located in a middle-class neighborhood full of patrons with sharp taste buds.
Andaman Thai Walnut Creek
1560 Newell Ave, Walnut Creek, CA 94596, United States
Andaman Thai is my new favorite Thai restaurant in Walnut Creek!! Located across the street from the downtown Kaiser hospital, it is pulled slightly away from the hubbub of central downtown with easier parking (there is a mid-sized lot for the shopping center, though all the spots were metered in recent years at $2/hr). The interior ambiance is very nice- everything is incredibly clean and well-decorated with real plants and fun seasonal decor. The staff are incredibly nice, welcoming, and knowledgable. I am vegan and gluten-free, and most items on the menu can be made vegan/vegetarian and gluten-free upon request. I especially recommend the Thai Iced Tea (you can order with coconut milk for dairy-free and it has a fun shaved ice on top), Basil Fried Rice, and the Pad Thai (a strong take on the classic). The service is quick to get seated (normally within 10 mins even when busy- they dont take reservations but you can add yourself to the waitlist in person or when nearby), and the food also comes out quickly (within 5 mins of ordering for starters and within 15 mins of ordering for entrees). The pricing is standard for Thai food in Walnut Creek (around $15 per vegetarian entree) but the portion sizes are more generous than other places. Andaman is also family-owned and have a very sweet mission/history statement about honoring their late chef- father in the menu. I feel happy to support them and grateful to have them in Walnut Creek! My experience ordering takeout from them (via DoorDash) has also been smooth- food was well-packed for travel and still fresh when it arrived. Definitely check out Andaman Thai if you are craving high-quality, well-priced, dietary-restrictions-accessible Thai food in the Walnut Creek area!
Tatsu Sushi

I like this place as it has many manufacturers choices of dishes. Went with a group of colleagues for lunch at this place. The decoration is unique. The staff very friendly and busy. Arrived there about 11:30am and there was.only 2 couples in.. we made it before the lunch rush, as we were waiting about 20 minutes for the food to arrive at our table. The groups kept coming in.The food... I cant say about how good it is. Bravo to the chefs. The wait staff maintained everyone waiting and even provided the full house of customers with lightly fried & delicious pot stickers stating this is on the house. Thank you for waiting.I had the spicy Ramen. The broth was colorfully red and you can see the spices on the noodles as I grabbed them up with the chopsticks.I will give this place a 4 stars rating. Food good, staff good, but to their detriment unfortunately does not provide a military/ Veterans Discount. Note: some ethnic food (Mexican, Indian, Mediterranean, Chinese, Ramen, Korean) places do honor Military and Veteran discounts by showing it and demonstrating as much. Sorry, that extra (5th) star is reserved solely for Military honors. Now some places dont and depending on the wait staff or management, have had a few that the business doesnt offically honor Military discounts, but some would supply a Senior discount in its place. Depending on the provided product and service, willing to give 5 stars in those cases.
MaLuBianBian HotPot Tustin
1056 Walnut Ave, Tustin, CA 92780, United States
I feel brave that I went here without a local or a seasoned customer or a spirit guide or something, but I did. And I took my bratty kids. I got off to a rough start because they only allow you to scan the menu and order through your phone but the cell signal for whatever reason is impossible here so I had to wait for a busy wait staffer to come let me in on the Wi-Fi password, and then I was in business. Or at least a little bit more in business. I still kind of had to guess on how to order because the only other similar hot pot place I had been to before was all you can eat and more salad bar style. The things I did order I loved, and I couldn't believe two for $4.50 Asahi beer. I spied all kinds of things at other tables that I would definitely try next time or if I was with a bigger party. The only complaint I had was that every time anyone put another order through their phones for anything in the entire restaurant you could hear the ping in the kitchen and it sounds exactly the same as when you're getting emails or text messages constantly and it's kind of unsettling and not relaxing but that might just be the type of business I am in that I am conditioned to look at my phone and respond every time I hear that sound and it was pretty loud and completely constant. show.
Yans China Bistro & Bar

This is my go to Chinese place in Walnut Creek, and basically in the entire contra costa county. I have yet to find a better restaurant.I ordered for this meal:Hot and Sour Soup - 10Mongolian Beef - 10Braised Tofu - 7Hot and sour soup - I love this soup. It has plenty in it, not like a lot of other places, it has substance and very good flavor. It's a great balance of sour and spicy.Mongolian Beef - since Mongolian beef is my favorite dish, I like to order this at every restaurant I go to and judge them this dish. This is my favorite place to eat Mongolian beef. Good tender pieces of beef, the right amount of onions and great flavorful bites. Always a great dish to order here.Braised tofu - nice mix of vegetables and tofu. There was really not much flavor to this dish. I was expecting a bit more but it turned out to be a watery taste to the sauce. I ended up with raw carrots in my dish so that was not very pleasant.Atmosphere was good, even if it was very noisy because of the party a few tables away from me. I sat in the bar area - they usually have sports playing. The water was always filled and I was always tended to.Great place!
Ramen Ken
358 N Lemon Ave, Walnut, CA 91789, United States
Hello Ken: I am a Chinese chef in Tokyo. I saw your story about opening a restaurant in the United States from YouTube. It is very inspiring. You are a respectable striver. After watching the video several times, I would like to give you some suggestions from the perspective of a practitioner. I hope they can help you. 1. You can add Japanese and Chinese cuisine. 2. Add topping and mixing noodles (まぜめん). 3. From the video, it seems that your store has enough space to consider making a buffet. if possible. I’ll go to your place and try your craft in the future. Good luck.
