Chong Qing Mei Wei Szechuan Restaurant
5406 Walnut Ave suite c, Irvine, CA 92604, United States
My friend and I have gone to this restaurant many times prior to last evening, 7/6/16, and I have ordered take-out several times as well. I was absolutely shocked to find that the prices were considerably higher than they used to be. Were not talking 50 cents or a buck, were talking 2 to 3 dollars MORE per item. When I questioned the manager about this, he said it was the owners decision, to which I replied And not a good one. AND to add insult to injury, they charge $1.00 for rice per item. They charged for rice before, but now with those exorbitant prices, rice should come free with the items ordered. My friend and I noticed that it was not as crowded as it used to be either, and no wonder. We usually order 4 or 5 items, so we can have leftovers, but its so expensive now, we only ordered 3, and didnt have much to take home between us. The bill came to almost $50.00 with tax, and it really should have been $35.00. I am a senior citizen living on social security, and I absolutely cannot afford to ever eat there again. Dont get me wrong, the food is outstanding but I could only give one star because of the prices. Back to Sam Woos next door or on Culver I guess, even though Im partial to Szechuan as opposed to Mandarin. Its just a shame that greed has taken over the owners conscience and spoiled it for everyone else. Can anyone suggest a good Szechuan restaurant whose prices are reasonable?

Mr dragon noodle house
20657 Golden Springs Dr, Walnut, CA 91789, United States
Bright, Chinese restaurant with particularly yummy stir fried beef udon. I also split a beef rib noodle soup and spicy shrimp wontons with my dad. We were a bit overly ambitious with adding additional spice to the wontons - they’re plenty spicy on their own. The noodle soup had a nice kick as well. Food was brought out as it was ready. Credit cards accepted. Indoor dining was spacious. We came for a late lunch at 3pm on a Sunday but there were still people coming in. Free parking available. They speak both Mandarin and English.

Picking up some to-go earlier, the server wanted to verify if the order was correct. Sometimes I picked up for myself, but if it was for others, it was hard for me to verify unless I opened the bag, which would displease the actual consumer. The server was cordial though and verified at the end. It's a cute little store; the signage indicated that it was organic. Part of their store is assigned for dining and the rest showcases their snacks and variety of items, mostly natural I suppose. Trust they are selling quality items. It's located in a middle-class neighborhood full of patrons with sharp taste buds.

MaLuBianBian HotPot Tustin
1056 Walnut Ave, Tustin, CA 92780, United States
I feel brave that I went here without a local or a seasoned customer or a spirit guide or something, but I did. And I took my bratty kids. I got off to a rough start because they only allow you to scan the menu and order through your phone but the cell signal for whatever reason is impossible here so I had to wait for a busy wait staffer to come let me in on the Wi-Fi password, and then I was in business. Or at least a little bit more in business. I still kind of had to guess on how to order because the only other similar hot pot place I had been to before was all you can eat and more salad bar style. The things I did order I loved, and I couldn't believe two for $4.50 Asahi beer. I spied all kinds of things at other tables that I would definitely try next time or if I was with a bigger party. The only complaint I had was that every time anyone put another order through their phones for anything in the entire restaurant you could hear the ping in the kitchen and it sounds exactly the same as when you're getting emails or text messages constantly and it's kind of unsettling and not relaxing but that might just be the type of business I am in that I am conditioned to look at my phone and respond every time I hear that sound and it was pretty loud and completely constant. show.

Ramen Ken
358 N Lemon Ave, Walnut, CA 91789, United States
Hello Ken: I am a Chinese chef in Tokyo. I saw your story about opening a restaurant in the United States from YouTube. It is very inspiring. You are a respectable striver. After watching the video several times, I would like to give you some suggestions from the perspective of a practitioner. I hope they can help you. 1. You can add Japanese and Chinese cuisine. 2. Add topping and mixing noodles (まぜめん). 3. From the video, it seems that your store has enough space to consider making a buffet. if possible. I’ll go to your place and try your craft in the future. Good luck.

Great food and excellent service! We were greeted the moment we walked in the door and offered drinks right away. Before ordering, we were advised its taking a little longer than normal to prepare food. There is no better way to respect customers than clearly communicating expectations in advance, so you can decide for yourself if you wish to continue. I really appreciate that. After we ordered, the food came out fairly quickly so it was no problem at all. We ordered the Tom Yum Seafood Soup, Green Curry with Chicken, and Spicy Beef Salad, and it was all really good. I drink a lot of Iced Tea and they were right there to refill my glass before it ever went empty. Excellent service! Very friendly too! I highly recommend this restaurant. Service of this quality is so hard to find these days, so it is really appreciated when its experienced. Well done! ?

Walnut Tree Restaurant
382 S Lemon Ave A, Walnut, CA 91789, United States
Local hole-in-the-wall Chinese restaurant with generous lunch specials. They’re open for takeout and delivery during coronavirus, which was great to know since my mom was craving hot and sour soup. We ordered over the phone and it took only ~15 minutes for the food to be ready. There’s a small parking lot and they do take credit card. The lunch specials are a really good deal, as they are very generous with the portion size and they have a lot of options. They come with fried or white rice, a veggie egg roll, and a cracker. The salt and pepper pork chop is on the saltier side, and the texture is similar to Taiwanese popcorn chicken. The chicken lo mein was a bit bland but the texture of the noodles was nice and chewy. The cashew chicken was my favorite, and was still good the next day when we had the leftovers. 3 lunch specials and one hot and sour soup came out to be $31 so it’s very friendly on the wallet.

House Of Shabu Shabu
5394 Walnut Ave SUITE A, Irvine, CA 92604, United States
Update!I have to agree with a lot of the reviews of House of Shabu Shabu regarding the service. In the past a skinny teenage girl and older lady would not give service and forget your order. That didnt bother me, because Asian restaurants never have service so get use to it! Its about the food. Now, your order can be written on a paper menu similar to AYCE Sushi restaurants. Great improvement! Also, I can order multi-meats at once before we were limited to one plate of meat per guest at a time.THE SERVICE BLEW ME AWAY!! It was American food quality service. I went on Tuesday night and there was maybe around 10 or 12 people eating dinner. Thats about 10 times more people than are usually there when I go. This time House of Shabu shabu got it right. The manager/ owner Im guessing... was very nice and came by and greeted every guest. Instead of 2 people. The restaurant now has 2 servers that were incredibly fast and 2 busier that also helped with orders and cleaning. Twice the staff and friendliness. The servers tried to talk to my party and came back and forth constantly. The only waiting was for the cutting of the meat or the sushi, but my water glass and sauces never reached empty. One sushi platter, 2 appetizers, 7 plates of meat, and soup later, I was in food coma heaven, but I didnt over do it this time. I stop at just the right time before you feel to stuffed to walk. The menu changed slightly so you can only get rolls on the cheapest special. It was nice of the cute server to take the time to explain this new menu. I think the Special #1 is now $17.95 (2 dollars less) and the highest is only $24.95 (about 5-10 dollars less). I usually just get special 1 because Im cheap and its all you can eat. I dont go to this restaurant for the sushi although Spicy tuna and Spicy Salmon is a good appetizer. This place will not blow you away like some Asian area Shabu Shabu, but HEY! would you rather eat Panda or PF not Changs? This is Irvine and pretty decent eats. **Note: go easy on the hot sauce, it is more potent than before (no longer watered down).**---It feels weird rating a restaurant where you cook your own food. It doesnt seem fair if you are a bad cook than you probably will have a bad review of this place. If you want fresh tasting food this is the place for you.I am always a fan of any all-you-can-eat meat places. The nice thing about this place is not only can you get all you can eat beef, chicken, and pork for $19.99, you have an option to order other appetizers or sushi rolls. The sushi is a great option because you maybe on a date and your partner might not be as big of a meat lover as you.Shabu Shabu is a simple Japanese way of cooking food in boiling water, similar to Chinese hot pot. Every meat is cut extremely thin to cook faster, this is great because pork and chicken can take longer. I personally like the beef over the pork and chicken. I would recommend trying all the meats because it will make for a better soup at the end. **NOTE: I recommend dipping your chopsticks in the boiling water after handling raw meat.** You can dip your meat in ponzi sauce either plain or extremely spicy. Its up to you how much of the secret hot sauce you want to add. There are also garlic, onions, turnip, and some kind of mustard like sauce so you can mix and match as you please.Great place for a date just remember to come hungry. There is also a $29.99 AYCE option that includes all you can drink beer! I want to try this, but eating a lot and drink until you are full.. sounds like a bad combo. Highly recommended!
