China Garden Restaurant

Finally, after 30 years, there is a very authentic Chinese restaurant in East County in Brentwood,ca. I have visited this restaurant 4 times and satisfied and pleased with what I ordered. I have ordered different styles of noodle dishes like pan fried chow mein to different entrees like beef, chicken, ribs, tofu, and vegetable dishes. Other than traveling to Concord or Walnut Creek for a good decent general Chinese (Northern or Southern) cuisine, this restaurant is now my number 1 Chinese restaurant in the area. I have other favorites for pure Northern, Southern, and Dim sum restaurants. This restaurant was opened 5 years ago and I have noticed this place for years, but thought it was another average Chinese eatery, glad I visited this place a few months ago and found they had dishes that are not offered at other nearby restaurants and they do cook authentic northern and southern Chinese dishes. I have asked for dish of food not in the menu and I was surprised they were able to comply and surprise me with a very good dish. I have traveled and visited Chinese restaurants in areas of San Francisco, Los Angeles, Seattle, Vancouver, BC, Texas, New York and Florida, this restaurant is not the best, but it is very good for this area.

I was thrilled to discover a new Japanese restaurant in Brentwood. However, after ordering the Katsu chicken and vegetable tempura, we may not be returning. The place was packed full on a Friday evening. We had to wait about 20 minutes to get a table. No biggie. They have a counter along one wall, but it was loosely hanging on and tilted. Definitely not a stable place to eat. They need to get rid of that thing. It looks bad. Also, they have what looks like a beautiful water fountain behind the check-in counter. But, this was bone dry, dirty, and just an eyesore to look at wh2n you first walk in.The chicken katsu was a horrible piece of chicken. Definitely not a nice clean piece of white meat breast. 50% of the piece was full of fat and gristle, and the other 50% was flavorless cheap dark meat. This was a huge disappointment. I have had awesome chicken katsu breasts in the past, but this place does not care to give their customers a nice choice piece of meat.We might give this place one more try, to see if this was just an unfortunate anomaly. Not sure. That chicken was really gross.Have a little more pride in the food you serve and give your customers a better piece of meat.

Im not a big fan of these combo restaurants (Chinese and Japanese) as I my belief a restaurant should concentrate on a cuisine they do best. But, Mikado is an exception; they got it right.Mikado offers a good blend of Japanese and Chinese food. Granted theyre not a perfect 10 for both cuisine, but theyre very good with both worlds. This place does get packed and for good reasons.Their Chinese food, dont expect Kois Palace quality but then again you dont pay those prices. Theyre food comes out pipping hot and you can see the Chef is obviously showing off his wok skills. One of my favorite is their garlic fried rice. It adds a new taste dimension to a common dish. Their mini Bok Choy with garlic sauce and Peking Pork Chops are excellent comfort food and Mikado knows how to make them.Their other world is an interesting experience. Weekdays are fine for your everyday sushi fix, but for a true Japanese adventurous experience you have to go there on the weekend. The sushi rice was lacking the sushi rice vinegar but the fish are fresh and presented nicely.Staff here are top notch and not something you would expect from a small bistro. They frequently check up on you and there were times when we mentioned the food was a bit salty and they automatically took it back and had another one made. For their sushi (unless you like whats in their menu)I suggest you let them make the recommendations. Theyre honest about whats fresh and what to avoid.
Dumpling Hours-Brentwood

The dumplings didn’t taste fresh, beef pockets were very stale and old. Also, i only received one dipping source for multiple items that I ordered. I placed my order as soon as they were open, but my order was still delay. Customer service was not at par with the price range of the dishes. As someone who had dined or took out from countless dumplings/Chinese restaurants in the Bay Area, this one is by far the worst. I was hype about having a good/decent Chinese restaurant in Brentwood, but ended up with huge disappointment. Personally, I will not recommend this place. I hope they will make some changes.
Panda Express

The portions keep getting smaller to the point that I am still hungry after lunch or dinner. I am not a huge man either. The food is also loaded with sugar, sodium and breading so whats not to like. For about the same price, you can get take out at any number of great Chinese restaurants in the area.

Simple Chinese restaurant. Came here for the lunch special really great deal. Nothing to complain about. Really great pricing when it comes to the lunch specials menu. Everything else is pricey.

Various choices of food but I find some with not so good of taste in compare to other Chinese restaurant that serves the same dish. 3 out of 5 service. Looks like the dont watch if a child eats or not, they automatically charge your kid/s eaten or not which was supposed to be free of charge if not eaten and their reason is they dont know if the child eats or not lol. My kid has a food allergies and we usually bring her own food.

I rarely eat Chinese food because its not my top favorite but today is Christmas and nowhere else to go, only this Chinese restaurant opened on Christmas. Surprisingly the food was great, not oily or salty like other Chinese restaurants. They have a large menu with hundreds of options. The Singapore style noodle was not soggy or oily, its perfectly cooked and seasoned. The chow fun was good with tons of meat. The orange chicken might need more sauce next time, just a little extra sauce would make it x10 better. The amount of food was insane for reasonable price. This 3 container would feed a family of 4.

I used to be a frequent customer, but my experience last night and today has changed that. Last night, I ordered the steamed vegetable buns and Chow Mein. Later that night, I ended up with food poisoning. Today, I called the restaurant to report what happened and informed them that my husband would be coming in to get a refund. The lady on the phone initially refused to refund me and offered more food instead. I declined, explaining that their food had made me sick. I asked to speak with a manager, but she said the manager was not there. I reiterated my request for a refund due to the food poisoning. She put me on hold, then came back and agreed to provide the refund. However, when my husband arrived at the restaurant just five minutes later, they refused to refund him, with the manager claiming they couldn't do it. How is that possible when I was told the manager wasn't there? I would avoid this place to prevent getting food poisoning. They do not care about their customers and wont even issue a refund, which is the least they could do. These people have no integrity.
