The food was outstanding. Extremely flavorful, well seasoned and cooked to perfection. The Mongolian beef, crispy fried shrimp and clams with black bean sauce were phenomenal. The wonton soup tasted great as well. without question, this is the best Chinese restaurant in Covina. I recommend you give this spot a try you will not be disappointed. And if you happen to stop in say hi to Ted and tell him Lee sent you!
Thumbling
228 S Citrus St, West Covina, CA 91791, United States
Thumbling, located in the heart of West Covina, California, is a newly opened Chinese restaurant that has quickly become a local favorite. The restaurant specializes in delicious and authentic Chinese dumplings, made using unique skills and cooking recipes that have been perfected by Main Chef Mr. Feng. The menu at Thumbling includes a variety of dumplings, including Xiao Long Bao, pan-fried dumplings, steamed dumplings, and wontons, all of which are freshly made by hand using only the freshest ingredients available. The skin of the xiao long bao is the closest thing to Din Tai Fung that youll ever taste, and the fillings for all the dumplings are delicious and perfectly balanced, just like the ones youll find at Din Tai Fung. One standout dish at Thumbling is the spicy wonton with pork and shrimp, which is an authentic and delicious dish that is similar in taste to the ones served at Din Tai Fung. The only dumpling that needs a bit of work to have the Din Tai Fung taste is the vegetarian dumpling, as the skin is not as firm as it should be, but its still a close second. But its not just the dumplings that make Thumbling special. Chef Mr. Feng is also skilled at cooking different Chinese cuisines, and the restaurant has been awarded for its authentic Chinese cuisine in the West Covina area. The story behind Thumbling is a heartwarming one after hearing it from their waitresses. Chef Mr. Feng has always had a passion for making delicious authentic Chinese food, and after his family missed their hometown food, he created his own recipes. He would love to see his family and friends enjoying his delicious homemade food, and now hes able to share it with the community through his restaurant. So if youre looking for an authentic Chinese dining experience in West Covina, look no further than Thumbling. With delicious dumplings and a warm and welcoming atmosphere, its no wonder this restaurant has quickly become a local favorite. Dont forget to try their thumbs-up dumplings! And watch out Din Tai Fung, you have a real competitor now.
Canaan Chinese Cuisine
2668 E Garvey Ave S, West Covina, CA 91791, United States
A friend shared with me about this Chinese restaurant in West Covina that Id been driving past for years and encouraged me to stop by and try it. He said it I ever wanted authentic Chinese food this is the place to go. I guess the name Canaan Chinese Cuisine didnt go together. But I figured if hed been there and loved it, I would try it.So I asked my husband one day if he wanted to try it for lunch. OMG! We were so pleasantly surprised. Our lunch was incredibly delicious. So I invited my girlfriend there for her birthday lunch and she absolutely loved the food and so did I.Then my daughter and I met there for a Mothers Day lunch and she selected and ordered all the food and WOW were we impressed. Everything was so good. She definitely wants to go back. In fact she ordered extra just to take home for her meal the next day.To get this type of food, we would always frequent Rancho Cucamonga, but now that weve discovered this place in our own backyard, who needs to leave West Covina?
Venus Chinese Restaurant

Of course, the Chinese restaurant deserves 5 stars, even though the wait time is a little longer. Chick Fil A. That fried chicken restaurant said everything inside. But 50% inside. Half of it is missing, and they dont let you verify.

EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT, EXCELLENTI can not find a Chinese restaurant like this where I live. This is by far like the Chinese food from NY ( where im from originally). EXCELLENT fried rice! Duck (and I dont even like duck, first time I tried it)String Bean Chicken, yummi!Im glad they are still around (since 62) and Covid did not break them. Hubby has been going here since he was a kid in the 70s. we even met another customer that also was going there since he was a kid. Theyve definitely earned their longevity. the atmosphere is cozy, neat, and homey. Real authentic family Chinese food, not some franchise restaurant- which we hate!service was fast and they were kind. You must check this place out when you are in town! it trulywas one of the highlights of our stay!

Filled with eager anticipation, I headed to this Chinese restaurant and ordered their Flavored Beef Rice Noodle Soup and Xiaolongbao.Because I cant handle spicy food well, I intentionally opted for the non-spicy beef noodles, only to find out that they were still incredibly spicy! ?The beef was a bit tough and hard to chew. The Xiaolongbao differed from my memory.the restaurant didnt include ginger shreds. The Xiaolongbaos skin was thicker, and the filling surprisingly had a sweet taste. That’s my first time experiencing sweet Xiaolongbao and that completely shattered my preconceived notion of them.Notably, the restaurants service was exceptional:Incredibly friendly, always with a smile, checking on our dining experience regularly, and during the checkout, they even bowed at a 90-degree angle.Without a doubt, it was the best service Ive ever encountered at a restaurant in the US!Went to this Chinese restaurant with high expectationsOrdered their Flavored Beef Rice Noodle Soup and Xiao Long BaoSince I don’t like spicy food, I specially ordered non-spicy beef noodles. The result is still very spicy? The beef is a bit woody and toughXiaolongbao is not the same as the Xiaolongbao in my impression. The store didnt pay for ginger silkXiaolongbao has a thicker skinThe meat inside is sweetFirst time eating sweet xiaolongbaoIt really completely broke my impression of Xiao Long BaoIt is worth mentioning that the store’s service attitude: super good!Super friendly, always smiling when talking to guestsCome here from time to time to check on the dining situationWhen I checked out, I bowed 90 degrees. This is the restaurant with the best service I have ever had in the United States!

What We Ordered- Crispy Fish with Spicy Salt- Green Beans- Eggplant with Garlic Sauce- Cumin LambMy sister stumbled upon this place when we were heading home from Vegas. Definitely, a super hole in the wall joint that couldve been easily missed. Although its unappealing from the outside, the indoor decor and the food made up for that. I dont think the fish was made correctly because that is not how anything with spicy salt should taste. It was more like a slightly sweet curry battered fish with a bunch of spicy chili peppers. I still enjoyed the dish but, I wouldnt order it again. It wasnt crispy like the description and Id rather have a more savory fish than sweet. The green beans were good, not spicy at all. I just ate the chilis that came with the fish with everything to give it more heat. I wasnt a fan of the eggplant as much. It was smothered in sauce and also on the sweeter side. I like the cumin lamb but, they had some overly chewy pieces in there. Im guessing they were fatty pieces? Also, the lamb pieces were chopped up a little too small and thin. It was the same size as the chilis near the end so you cant tell whats meat and whats chilis lol. All in all, I would come back if I was in the area.
China Bowl Express & Young Hawaiian BBQ

Food is good. Price is good. The inside looks like a typical Chinese restaurant. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful they will explain everything to you if you have questions. This place is in a strip mall with other places around it like Gonzalez market and DDs discount. I love coming for the orange chicken and barbecue pork. They also have a good Hawaiian BBQ menu. There is a lot of places to park and a lot of other places to go. I would recommend this to everyone whos hungry for some Chinese food

OG Filipino Chinese restaurant. I always come here for the Taho and the Steam Buns also known as Siopao in the Philippines. They also have a good selection of lunch and breakfast items. Its a must visit if you are in the area.
Hibachi Grill Buffet

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Hibachi Grill Buffet for the first time during my aunts birthday celebration, and I must say, it was a delightful experience! The variety of dishes available was impressive, catering to every palate in our group. From fresh sushi rolls to crispy spring rolls, each dish was more delicious than the last. The highlight of our visit was undoubtedly the Mongolian BBQ. The ability to customize your dish with a variety of fresh ingredients and then watch it being expertly grilled right before your eyes added a personalized and entertaining touch to our meal. It was not only fun but also ensured that every bite was exactly to our liking. Our server was exceptionally attentive, refreshing our drinks efficiently and always ensuring we had everything we needed without being intrusive. Its rare to find such proactive and thoughtful service.Overall, Hibachi Grill Buffet provided a fantastic dining experience that made my aunts birthday even more special.
