Youngs Gourmet
1340 E Huntington Dr, Duarte, CA 91010, United States
A very pleasant and clean restaurant. The food was a little bit salty but otherwise was good. There was no typical Chinese restaurant smell in their restaurant. Very impressive.
Panda Express
904 Hamilton Rd, Duarte, CA 91010, United States
I well, never return to this Panda Express again unless its for takeout or to eat in the patio. This is the worst Panda Express Ive ever been to for a noise level from the kitchen and from the chairs scraping on the floor! Not pleasant at all to eat inside! Plus they were out of the sweet sour sauce but didnt notify us when we were purchasing egg rolls that they were out of the sauce! How can a huge company like this let their inventory get down and be out of the sweet sour sauce is beyond me! One of the worst eating experiences ever for noise level! I called Panda Express corporate in complained. They took my information and sent me a coupon to get a free item if I bought a two item combo plate! Do you think I feel like going back to Panda Express to buy more food. Not really! They have gotten rid of sweet sour pork. They could add sweet sour chicken to the menu but they never have. Even though Ive asked for it, they got rid of eggplant and tofu and both of their soups. Their containers for your extra side have gotten smaller and they dont give you as much in your two item plate! Yet the family purchased the building next to Panda inn in Pasadena for 42 million dollars!
Mackys Noodle House
917 W Duarte Rd, Monrovia, CA 91016, United States
Quick summary: This is a modern Chinese noodle place on the Monrovia/Arcadia area that caters to mainstream and traditional crowds. Good soup noodles, new interior and plates/bowls. Definitely order the egg noodles (the best of the soup noodle options). Rice cake with egg was so good! You can get it with the soup or have the soup on the side. Make sure you bring some cash, because their credit card machine happened to break down when I came. This noodle place has a beautiful interior and is not like your typical traditional Chinese restaurant. It has a much more modern feel. The menus were new and nice. Bowls, plates, and utensils looked new. Waiters are more likely to speak English, than they are to speak Chinese. Prices are competitive, about a dollar more per order than the traditional Chinese noodle places.Food- we all ordered the House Special noodles and shared the rice cake with egg. I highly recommend the egg noodles. I tried the round noodles, which were alright but cannot compare to the egg noodles (that the rest of my family ordered). The rice cake with egg was one of the best I ever had. The food was fresh, delicious, and just tasted clean in general. It didnt have overbearing MSG like a lot of noodle places and wasnt particularly oily like most Chinese food places. They had a station for all the sauces which was pretty cool (but a bit annoying to get up and down because of how tight some of the seating was). The satay sauce was delicious and the peppers looked much more fresh and appetizing than the traditional places.I usually go to noodle places in El Monte and Alhambra, but I think Ive found a closer alternative in Mackys Noodle House. Easy parking, modern decor, delicious food, and satisfactory service. Ill definitely come back again.
Cheeky Cheeky Bun Bun
627 W Duarte Rd, Arcadia, CA 91007, United States
Wow! Steamed BBQ Pork Buns, soft moist and subtly sweet. It's like they gathered the outer edges from tiny fluffy clouds and stuffed sweet pork bits into their centers. The sauce is brown, not red like I'm used to but still very good. The pork chunks were very moist which I loved, with just enough fat for moisture and flavoring. The price is a bit up there, especially for a crowd. $15.00 for 6 Small Buns…but better quality when comparing to local Asian Market deli sections. 4-6 huge buns To-Go for $8.00 and you can feed an army or share 1 with a friend.Despite the price, I loved the product. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, Take the Steaming Square Paper off the Bottom before eating lol.The NAME Signage wasn't over the door when I arrived so I parked in the giant lot to look at the map. I discovered that it was located on the yogurt shop side of the lot. 2nd shop on right from east entrance. It's a strip mall off Duarte & Baldwin, Bank of America ATM near sidewalk.
Changs Garden
627 W Duarte Rd, Arcadia, CA 91007, United States
Changs Garden is not your typical Chinese restaurant. Most of their dishes are more expensive then their competitors around the Chinese area but I love very bit of it!First of all, dont go for those lower price dishes there...they arent good nor special at all! Now we get that out of the way, lets talk about whats good there. I only been there once and I ordered 3 items from their specialities menu and they are delicious! Service isnt the best, and thats expected at most of Chinese restaurants (its okay, Im a Chinese). But you dont go there for their service. You go for the flavor and this place got it!If you are there, make sure you try their deep fried fish filet w/ seaweed! Yum
1919 Lanzhou Beef Noodle
148 E Duarte Rd, Arcadia, CA 91006, United States
Best beef noodle soup I’ve ever had. They give huge portions. Beef roll is off the hook too. Nice service compared to other Chinese restaurants in the area.
Four SeaSi Hai - Arcadia
713 W Duarte Rd suite a suite a, Arcadia, CA 91007, United States
Good basic 小吃 (small bite) dishes. Not great, but not bad either. Lot of choices. Too many probably, because the gluttony to have a bit of everything kicks you into decision paralysis. Best to come with a large party of people so you can order lots of stuff or know what you want. The staff seems very overworked. On the day we visited, it was two young and industrious women who had to serve and clean up.Any criticism for Four Seas would be directed toward the customers. Many parents plant devices in front of their kids once they are seated with no regard for the device volume. Others talk loudly on their phone with speaker on. This is a place to grab something to eat and not a place to have a relaxing meal. Would do take out next time.Kudos to the staff for their good service in a challenging environment.
No. 1 Express
713 W Duarte Rd # F, Arcadia, CA 91007, United States
This place was recommended by some Chinese foodie group and I decided to check it out since people were suggesting it. Well, food is affordable thats for sure. But heres the breakdown. It looks like the restaurant may be still in soft opening stage? There were boxes and stocks everywhere, that leads me to think theyre not quite ready for opening? With that said atmosphere and ambience is near hit a it seems more mom and pop shop.Service was good. Staff was friendly and helpful. But then again, we were the only customer ?My friend order the braised beef combo rice (牛腩飯). Its a tad on the sweeter side but tasty. Beef was very tender and not chewy, the tendon was well cooked but still got a bounce. Thats some talent.I ordered the crispy duck which was a miss. The duck was dry, way too salty. But then again I like the Peking or HK style roast duck with moist tender meat, a bit of fat and crispy skin. This crispy duck felt like an old leftover duck thats been deep fried to be refreshed for service.I also ordered the pan fried bun (生煎包). Thats just say you pay for what you get. It looks fine but its doughy, meat is dry, no juice flows out when you bite into it. I was given a very little vinegar, which is ok as I have a giant bottle stocked at home.Overall, braised beef rice is good. But Im not a fan of the crispy duck nor the pan fried bun. If Im in the neighborhood, I would only return if I were to crave for the braised beef rice. But then again, Ive had amazing braised beef elsewhere.
Shanghai Gourmet
933 W Duarte Rd, Monrovia, CA 91016, United States
I had lunch with family in Shanghai Gourmet. We've been to this restaurant a few times before and always enjoy the food. They have a great lunch special menu.Shredded pork w/ fish sauce was good with rice.Like most Shanghai dishes, it is a little sweeter.Fish Fillet w/ Wine Sauce was very tasty. The fish fillet was soft, and the sauce was very flavorful.Very tender Shanghai style rib w/ tomato sauce. Also good with rice.House Special Ham w/ Yam in Wine Sauce was my favorite dish of the day.The sauce is the same as the fish dish, but more flavorful because of the ham.The mountain yam was crunchy and so very tasty.Fried Rice Cake w/ Crabmeat is a very Shanghai dish.Love the chewy rice cake and the flavor of the crab.We had the meat ball w/ crabmeat soup at the end of the meal.Soft meatball with crabmeat stuff inside.Lots of napa cabbage and glass noodle in the soup.We had a great lunch at Shanghai Gourmet.I'd definitely come back again.
Ikka Sizzling Pot
651 W Duarte Rd c, Arcadia, CA 91007, United States
There was no wait when I came for a late lunch around 2 pm. Ordered the boneless braised chicken (11.99), braised lamb shoulder (16.99), braised meat balls (15.99), and braised mixed vegetables (11.99). The food was served pretty quickly, in less than 10 minutes. Their dishes can be ordered as combos or individually but I opted for the individual portion. The portion size is reasonable for one person to finish themselves and the price is alright too. They all came with white rice even though it wasnt a combo. As for the taste, they were all pretty falvorful but a bit on the salty side. However, the tofu dish wasnt the same as the photo since it was not the same egg tofu but a different kind. A decent place to eat a meal.
