Ginger Cafe
8657 San Ysidro Ave, Gilroy, CA 95020, United States
I took lunch here. I’d say this is a typical American Chinese restaurant. Nothing bad but if you want some authentic Chinese food, I would recommend you go 40, 50miles north to the Bay Area
Pineapple Village
769 1st St, Gilroy, CA 95020, United States
The pork fried rice is amazing! very good. Also got pot stickers and sweet and sober pork to go. Didnt really care for the sweet and sour pork because it was like breaded instead of just regular pork. Wish they had fortune cookies here seems strange they dont for a Chinese restaurant.
Bamboo Village Restaurant
8045 Wren Ave, Gilroy, CA 95020, United States
Your classic Chinese restaurant, so happy we have this here in town. The restaurant gets 5 stars for what it is. Dont go there thinking youre going to get gluten free, floral infused noddles. You are going to get what you expect from an old classic Chinese restaurant, greasy good food probablyfull of MSG, it was delicious. The lady that helped us (lol) was quick, somewhat soupman-esc (Freinds reference) but nice. To top it off the prices are great! Check out their lunch and dinner specials. 5 well earned stars!
King EggRoll
8610 San Ysidro Ave, Gilroy, CA 95020, United States
I love their egg rolls, a little bit high price. Over all, good place to eat Chinese food I like the San Jose CA restaurant more than Gilroy.

There were a few things that has gone terribly wrong:First, your website stated that this location is open till 10pm. When we arrived right at 9pm (to pickup a mobile order that is to be ready by 9:05p), we can see from outside that the inside is already cleaned and chairs put up, and entrance door LOCKED. I guess I could help excuse that theyre only open with drive-thur, but wait a minute, Im here to pickup a mobile order - and this is the gist of what Im going to write about. What was appalling is that at that very moment, one of the employee (lets call her Manager-A, with a headset) was opening & re-closing the door for an employee to leave so I began to explain that Im here to pickup an mobile order that should be ready very soon, if not already ready. She continued to re-lock the door and walked inside away from me without bothering to address me.I continued to stand outside of the door and tried to get the attention of any of the employees (there were like 5-6 employees) behind the counter. Finally another employee (lets call her Manager-B, with a headset) just signaled to me with hand gestures that I need to go through the drive-thru as the dining area is closed. I told her (shouting through the shut glass door) that Im just here to pickup my order which should have been ready by now; They didnt even bother to ask the name/check the status of the order. She just gave an excuse that oh your order is not ready, go to the drive-thru. This is crazy as my order couldnt have been simpler - it was 3 orders of chow-mien side!As the dining room has been closed, there were already a bunch of other customers (upon realization that they have to go to drive-thru instead) lining up at the drive-thru. I told her that the purpose of the a mobile order was for quick pickup, having to wait in line at the drive-thru following other customers who were there to order and wait for an order defeats the very purpose of mobile app pre-ordering.In the end, I left at 9:06pm, my order should have been ready anyways, but no employees were there to help finish and pass me the order.
Mr. Hongs
1210 1st St, Gilroy, CA 95020, United States
Called in the other evening to place an order. Dude picks up unprofessionally with just, Hello? I confirm its Hongs and he asks me to hold. 15 minutes later Im still on hold as I walk into the place with 3 employees and a single customer and ask who left me on hold. Tall guy immediately starts apologizing saying it was busy yet all three were standing at the front waiting for customers. The short, dark dude who actually picked up agrees and when confronted about why he left me on hold, said nothing as tall guy tried to apologize again, but doesnt accept responsibility for leaving me on hold and standing around. I ask one more time and a dude Im familiar with says it was him, even though thats not how he answers. I highly recommend learning how to professionally answer phones and not to upset regular customers thatll no longer be going to this establishment. Thanks for the needless disrespect and money in my pocket

The atmosphere and cleanliness of this restaurant are quite good. However, the taste is really not in line with my daughter’s and my Chinese tastes. We originally wanted to order a buffet so we could try different flavors of food. However, we are really not used to Indian food,Especially my daughter can hardly eat it.Waiter asked about the situation very considerately.I can only tell him,Im sorry that my daughter cant adapt to the taste of Indian food.I didn’t expect that he would not charge my daughter’s fees. Therefore, I can only give them full marks!
Saigon -2- Siam Bistro
1280 1st St, Gilroy, CA 95020, United States
Updated review 11/29/2021Since we had a great experience on our last visit 3 yrs ago. We decided to eat here before a soccer game.We ordered the Vermicelli bowl with bbq pork and the rice plate with bbq pork. Now Im not Vietnamese BUT the Vermicelli bowl is my favorite Vietnamese dish besides Banh Mi! and Ive ordered it 1000s of times so Im 100% sure that the noodles are not supposed to be served steaming hot! Even after I poured the fish sauce on top, it still was steaming! All they had to do was place the noodles in an ice bath for a few minutes and then serve it the proper way!Even the dipping fish sauce was bland. No signs of red chilli or garlic. Also, the pork for both dishes was not grilled! Imagine having a slab of Char Siu(Chinese BBQ pork)then its placed in a Pho and lastly its placed on a rice plate and or a vermicelli bowl! Thats what it tasted like and looked like it too!Im certain that this restaurant has new owners! Since we last ate here 3 yrs ago! So disappointed!3 yrs ago....Fusion of Thai, Vietnamese, and Filipino food. We ordered the BBQ chicken, Pad Thai, and Pad Woon Sen, which totaled to $36. Which is ave compared to other restaurants portions.Everything was delicious. The table service was quick and the staff was friendly. Would definitely be returning.
Gilroy Gardens Family Theme Park
3050 Hecker Pass Hwy, Gilroy, CA 95020, United States
I wouldnt recommend buying tickets or season passes this year.Weve been going to Gilroy Gardens since my son was 2; hes 12 now. Weve always loved this place! Now that hes on summer break, my son wanted to go back to Gilroy Gardens. However, this time was much different. We quickly discovered that Gilroy Gardens hasnt been properly maintaining their rides in the off-season.Four major attractions broke down or were closed today: the banana ride -- for part of our visit, and my sons first stop and disappointment; the spinning swings, which a park employee said had been down for months; both sections of the old classic car ride -- for the entire time we were there; and the Water Oasis Bucket and slides -- for the entire time we were there (one of their flagship attractions) (picture attached; employees just stood around waiting all day to tell people over and over it wasnt usable and they had no ETA on when it would be back up). When we asked park attendants why the Water Oasis Bucket area was closed, they said that too much chlorine had been added (which implies negligence).Of the few rides that were open that we rode, the majority had other operational issues. Even the tram made such load noises from scaping against the track through sections that the kids on it were covering their ears with looks of discomfort on their faces. We even got hit in our tram car by multiple branches of overgrown trees throughout multiple sections of the ride.People that work there should ride each ride each morning before the park opens and guests come to ride the rides to ensure theyre safe; had they been, I think theyd quickly see parts of the trees are coming into the tram in multiple areas. For a visit that took us over 2 hours to get there; and over 3 hours to get home (through Gilroy 5 pm traffic); and cost a ton -- what a disappointment.Id recommend steering clear this summer. There are lots of other great water parks and amazement parks throughout California that are much better maintained. They should be reinvesting some of their revenue back into each of their rides each off season; especially if theyre going to be open 7 days a week. Guests expect to come and find what they paid for available. We also checked the website before coming to plan our visit. There was no mention anywhere that any of the attractions were down. We checked again when we got home, still no mention that any attractions were down today.Im really disappointed Gilroy Gardens. There were a lot of places I could have spent the day with my son; but we chose your family theme park. The least you could do was ensure that your rides were fully operational, safe, and well-maintained for all of your guests today.
Westside Grill
8080 Santa Teresa Blvd #100, Gilroy, CA 95020, United States
I was heading from Gilroy to Morgan Hill to go to lunch but and acquaintance of mine told me about Westside Grill, “sozz” I decided to check em out. Immediately after you walk through the doors there is a reception area “they seat you” In front of that is a dining area and to the right is a full bar with seating “separated from Dining area via a wall with glass”The waitress and servers were super attentive and friendly. After being seated at a booth I noted a bad smell “ like urine in a bathroom, you all know that unmistakable smell” I was honestly thinking to myself, what have I gotten my self into? But after about 10 min I noticed the smell had went away?!! Weird. They use paper straws only upon requesting a straw. “ sorry all you environmentalist but I cannot stand paper straws, guess next time I'll bring my PLASTIC straw”I asked the hostess what she recommended? she said the salmon fish tacos. When the Salmon fish tacos arrived, I was taking a back by the size and the amount of food given. They certainly do not skimp when presenting you with a meal. The waitress also asked if I would like a side of their homemade salsa? I said sure, let me tell you folks that was the best decision I made all day, their salsa is absolutely amazing.....,well maybe the second best decision I made all day because the Salmon fish tacos were also super delicious and amazing, with slaw, avocado, a slightly smoky bean dipping sauce, and perfectly cooked blackened Salmon, this dish hit all my yummy buttons and begged me to come back for more. Overall I think 4 stars is well earned and I most certainly will be back for more.
