Tasty Goody Chinese Fast Food

We have been looking for a good Chinese restaurant and now we have our place to go to. Great food.
Panda Express
140 S Mountain Ave, Upland, CA 91786, United States
First and last visit to this location. This Panda Express literally counts the pieces of chicken for each meal. My kids had 3 pieces of chicken, I thought it was a mistake by the women serving, when I asked the older oriental women interjected & said that is the portion size, I was dumbfounded. She said 4 pieces of chicken is a full serving size. This is laughable.I have never been to a Panda Express where each piece of chicken is counted & if the staff was counting I was not aware because portion size at other locations have Always been sufficient. Then to make matters worse the food was barely warm and Not Fresh. After paying, I didnt receive the cookies for the 2 kids meals & again, rudely the older women stated, the store was out. Wait, why are you charging me full price for an incomplete meal?My son really wanted Panda & this location was close by, so we stopped. My mistake. I will never return.I made sure to complete my survey.I frequent Panda & this is not an experience up to Panda Express standards.
Lotus Garden

Several iterations of Chinese restaurants have popped up at this location, but the latest incarnation is by far the best. While its a bit more expensive than your average Chinese takeout in the area, the quality of their food is absolutely worth it. They cook when you order, so youre ensured a meal that hasnt been sitting under a heat lamp for a couple hours. They also offer a great delivery service. Their interactive online menu makes it extremely easy to place orders and they delivery quickly.Try the Crispy Walnut Shrimp. Phenomenal!

Ive eaten here many times. The owners and workers are super nice, the food is delicious, and for good prices. They have lunch specials for plate-style meals and larger dinner or restaurant-style dining orders. One of my favorite Chinese spots in the area, please check it out!

KEDAI Indonesian Cafe
110 S Mountain Ave, Upland, CA 91786, United States
I drove by this place a couple times and was excited that a new Indonesian place was opening up. Its a really nice and cozy cafe that serves old school pastries, the kind I would eat in my childhood. When I moved to the States, you cant really find those pastel, kroket, risoles, or lemper, not many restaurant sells them, or even makes them from scratch. So when I saw all these pastries, I went crazy and I knew this place would fill the missing parts of my immigrant life here. I would say this is one of the only place that would bring back all those nostalgic memories before moving to LA and I would drive 1 hour just to get that fresh, made from scratch pastries. I havent found any other Indonesian cafe that would bring back all my happy childhood memories of hanging out with my friends at a cafe, eating pastels & risoles with chili and sambal (the real one, not that fake wannabe bullcrap from HuyFong). Oh and the coffee? Stop going to Starbucks that serves fake coffee using Indonesian island as their name, youre better off going to the real place that serves the real, authentic, imported Indonesian coffee for the same price. If you have a doubt about this, my last name is Indonesian as hell, I grew up there, and I approve this as one of the most ethnic & authentic cafe.**Fast forward to now, . Kedai is still very special to me. I just came back from Indonesia, had the pastries (pastels, risoles) back home but lets not fool around. Kedais pastries still taste waaaay better. First of all, 1 pastel in Indonesia is now about $2.50. You Indonesians who think its still cheaper to eat in Jakarta can suck on deez. Second of all, the pastels here are about twice the size, so youre already getting a good deal. Lastly, the pastries here (especially pastel) have more flavor than the ones in Indonesia. You can taste the difference in quality. You 90s Jakarta people surely know what Indonesian pastries are supposed to taste like. Id rather get Kedais pastries, and Id be more than happy to pay $5 for the taste Kedai has to offer. Kedais recipe is still the classic, the ones I grew up with, and will always be very special to me.In the pictures are pastel, risoles, choco banana roll, and Dutch roll, with ice americano and pandan latte.
JD Allisons Bar and Grill
291 N 2nd Ave, Upland, CA 91786, United States
☆☆☆{personal favorite} while its definitely anightlife qualified establishment Im drawn to the cozy comfortable and youre home quality that the ambiance here leaves you with going during lunch time, happy hour, & early evening (pre-clubbing) time. They have a fair amount of regulars that come here during these times that are interesting and are like family with the staff and it feels as if youve pop by your house for a drink and a snack instead pulling into a no name bar cause you didnt know where to go. If you looking too stop for a break without the unfamiliar and guarded engaging interactions then this is a must to checkout and see if it fits your cup of tea. Live music on weekends and competently put togeather sports bar theme, when its important. Outside patio and local guest access to wi-fi round out this iconic downtown Upland establishment. It apparent that the cooks (who r fabulous) and wait crew have all been long time employees and the way they work togeather shines thru.Loren & Scotty, my hats off to you and thanks for opening up shop in Upland. You are loved by Uplandnites thru & thru.Spoiler alert and keep this under your hat. Mix a little networking with your downtime?,Lots of the local whos who...who includes the likes of people of Mark Christophers Chevrolet to City Hall frequented to a couple of sitting council members too! ....well, maybe thats enough names for one day. Pho Century
1244 W Foothill Blvd, Upland, CA 91786, United States
First if you check my postings on Google you will see that almost all of them are five stars. It really takes a lot for me to write a review like this. The house special looked nothing like the picture and was at least 70% rice. I was really surprised. At first I thought it was a big side dish of fried rice that came with the meal. It did taste good but was described as being mostly meat & egg protein. I was really looking forward to the mix. My friend wanted to switch up his pho with different noodles. The server seemed really annoyed that it would cost us more to get what we want. It was an issue of like $3, we spent over $30. And quite frankly she was kind of rude and also annoyed that we werent making up our menu choices quick enough. The place wasnt that busy. It wasnt even close to half full. I also found it annoying that they were playing political news the entire time we were there. The station they were watching was one of the ones that is so far in One Direction its impossible to take them seriously. The announcers are constantly upset and everythings an impossible crisis. Really inappropriate if you want a mixed clientele. This isnt the only pho restaurant near the Claremont Colleges. I was really hungry so I finished my order and my friend who usually devours his didnt even finish half of it, he was completely unsatisfied. I will be going somewhere else next time.
Connals Burgers Salads & Subs
1226 W 7th St, Upland, CA 91786, United States
I recently tried Connals for the first time. After two trips there sampling a number of items on the menu, our family is hooked. The salads are loaded, full of flavor and the chicken was cooked to perfection. The Pastrami and Beef Dip Sandwiches were both incredible, from the meat to the incredible soft but chewy bread. I am not a French Fry fan nor eater, but the fries here are incredible. Hot, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Today I tried their bean and cheese burrito. After eating at so many of best Mexican Restaurants in the greater LA Area, I think the bean and cheese burrito I had today at Connals might have been the best one I have ever eaten. It was a substantial burrito with a soft but chewy tortilla that complimented the perfectly seasoned and smooth beans. To top it all off they were very generous with the cheese, which also perfectly complimented the two other ingredients. I am a salsa lover, and they have great salsa, but the burrito alone was so good, I ate it AS IS. DELICIOUS!
