Golden China Restaurant
1866 Main St, Watsonville, CA 95076, United States
I went to dinner here yesterday with family, and Im surprised by the low reviews here. The service was great, our food came out fast and it was really good! We had the szechuan scallops, general chicken, sweet and sour pork, and veggie chow mein. Unlike other chinese restaurants Ive eaten at, none of it tasted overly salty, and even after eating a whole ton I didnt feel bogged down after we got home. If were to trust some of the other reviewers it would seem like this place might be hit-and-miss, but the first time I went yesterday our whole group raved about how much they liked it! Im definitely going to go again (probably for the lunch special), and when I do Ill update this review.

Panda Express

Cold food because they boxed it all up and then made us wait over 15 minutes for them to make fried rice. Not impressed at all almost all of the entrees were empty when we showed up. The fried rice had many large chunks of brown rice and was obviously rushed when cooking. Maybe l dont understand but since when did Chinese restaurants start putting the main entree in the sides part of the plate 80% of the meal was rice.

H.K. GARDEN

For the price it was great! $4.95 lunch specials available..and its edible?! Mine was $6.95 (I wanted a shrimp dish), and included soup, and rice! I was actually impressed with the egg drop soup considering past experiences. It wasnt the best Ive ever had, but it had a lot of fun stuff going like extra egg, lots of veggies, and tofu. The broth was a bit bland but easy fix with soy sauce. Service was quick and friendly.

Sukho Thai Restaurant

I came here based on the previous reviews and this place seem like really well received restaurant so I gave it a try since I just started working in the area. My first time with this restaurant and the first impression was not good for me. May be its one time off thing so Ill definitely come back to give more evaluation.Ordering system: I used online order which is quick and easy. I really like that.Food: I ordered laab moo (pork) which is ground pork salad and sticky rice (if it werent so expensive I would order som tum to finish the Thai classic combo...hint hint lunch special maybe?). Dont let the word salad fools you. Its not plate full of greens. Its cooked grounded pork tossed in chili and lime sauce, a dish in North Eastern region of Thailand and a very popular comfort food for many Thai people all over the country. As a Thai person, I expected it to be more authentic, I understand the few ingredients where it can be hard to obtain due to the location. The main issue I have is the flavor profile. Laab should have profiles of lime sourness, salty from fish sauce, slight sweetness from palm sugar and spicy from bird eye chili. I have requested for level 5 spicy and it wasnt hot at all. Most of the heat were put off by overwhelmingly sweetness and heavy on fish sauce. Fish sauce already have overwhelming flavor and can overtake other ingredients. I feel that there might have been some mistake and the cook tried to compensate to balance the flavor by adding more sweetness into the dish. What make it feel like its not laab is the lack of lime juice. The sourness of it was not present. The minor issue is the omitting roasted rice in laab. That gives the dish a slight toasty and smoky profile to the dish. Its commonly use in laab and nam tok. Most other Thai restaurant I have gone to using in their dishes. It is common ingredient and easy to make which I think it shouldnt omit especially its not exotic ingredients that would put off foreigner. I couldnt really care for the shredded carrots but it was a nice touch and it would complement better if the lime juice was there. I love the side of romaine lettuce, laab is really well together with fresh green with high water content like lettuce.Ill definitely give them a try again because I dont believe to judge their wholesome with one experience. Hopefully, please dont take this too offensive and make my next dish way too spicy to burn my butt off. I have few more dishes that I use to benchmark Thai food which Ill be coming back for sure. I would like to get neau nam tok and pad khee mao in the future.Overall experience would be 3 stars, but I want to focus on the dish so giving it 2 stars to be consistence with Yelp review where they consider 2 stars as couldve been better and 3 stars is A-Ok. Generally, I dont like 5 stars system since there are a lot to factors. My 10 rating scale would be 6/10 where the online ordering and customer handling is quite well done.

Imura Japanese Restaurant

I certainly enjoy the fact that they put attention to who sits at the bar... The chefs are super attentive...best part is... They dont close until after dinner... Yes...!!! Im Mexican... And I should probably go to Mexican restaurants... I have been in so many places within the states and New Zealand... The only Mexican cuisine I truly Miss... Is my moms and my baby sisters home made corn tortillas... Pho is just broth... Chinese and philippino!?!?... To greasy.... Indian,.... No match for my home made salsa... Sushi has been my go to whenever Im on assignment... And imura certainly gives me what I enjoy...

Sushi QU
952 E Lake Ave, Watsonville, CA 95076, United States
TL;DRAmbiance: Family FriendlyService: Friendly ServiceFood Quality: ExcellentPrice: $20+/personA small, 6-table and 4-seat bar, sushi restaurant specializing in Western style sushi. Situated in a quiet corner of the East Lake Plaza in Watsonville, this is the perfect place for a relaxed lunch, or a casual dinner. The menu is simple to read, it includes pictures of their specialty rolls and a few short lists of sushi mainstays, it covers the basics for seasoned sushi eaters or first-timers alike. My only desire would be for a greater selection of beers. On slow nights, there will only be one server, one kitchen staff, and the sushi chef. Weekends its usually +1 server and +1 kitchen staff. However, if the workload is heavy, be prepared to wait at least 5-10 minutes for a-la-carte orders, and 15-20 minutes for the rest of your order. The staff will gladly refill your drinks while you wait.Although other sushi places in town have a wider variety of seafood on the menu, Sushi Qu is my go-to for consistency on the freshness and taste of their seafood. It has always been delicate tasting, with no off-smells, and no funny aftertaste to wash down with beer. For their consistency in; quality of ingredients, service staff friendliness, and relaxed ambiance; Sushi Qu takes my pick for Top Sushi Joint in Town.

Eriks DeliCaf
1074 S Green Valley Rd, Watsonville, CA 95076, United States
This place was 5 stars - about ten years ago. When Erik's deli had all the old timey decorations, wooden floors, and wooden wall hangings it was top notch. The service and food here was absolutely outstanding. Ever since Erik's decided to remodel their stores with the cold, unwelcoming, impersonal blueprint that is in most of their locations Erik's has gone downhill. When I walk in it feels like just another chain restaurant. Since the remodeling Erik's has become increasingly “corporate”. Food is good, but I feel for the price there are better, more local sandwiches to choose from. Also they don't give you pickles when you place an online order - what's the point when your sandwich is literally wrapped in a paper that says “respect the pickle”? Only took us one time of that happening and calling back to have someone tell us “if you want the pickle with your order you have to request it”. So we wrote a special request online today when we ordered. Had my mother in law pick it up and bring it to our house. Guess what, no pickle! I called them back just to let them know and a lady told me “the pickles are in the bag, I put them in myself”. They're not that's why I'm calling. “Yes I put them in the bag myself, they're in there”. The pickle is the last straw.Edit : Timi (the owner) reached out to us and made it right, we will be dining here again!
