Restaurant Hayakawa
750 Terrado Plaza #33, Covina, CA 91723, United States
Traditional Japanese restaurant in every sense (with a hint of, from the decor and attire of the staff, to the way sushi dishes are prepared. Quality is superior (at least for sushi), and the prices reflect accordingly. Therefore, I wouldnt recommend this restaurant as a quick fix when youre simply craving your California Rolls and Teriyaki Chicken- that would almost be doing the chef and your wallet a disservice. Service is excellent, the seafood is top-notch, and the dishes are artfully presented.

Another update: my husband loved the roll I got and wants to order again. So I rexamined the photos of the menu and it indeed does say togo items do not include SALAD. Nothing about no soup. Which I called specifically about yesterday. So I got 1) lied to on the phone by the girl 2) ripped off on my soup, which I wanted enough to callback. I will be calling back and speaking to a manager about my f#@$ing soup cause Im that petty right now. If you dont want to do your job correctly, get a new one instead of deliberately lying to people.Update: finally got through after the phone rang and rang and rang.. and rang and rang and rang. For any future customers, apparently somewhere on their menu it says soup and side salad not included - at least thats what the girl on the phone said. Will be trying a different venue next time cause thats really lame. Especially if you purchase a $15 roll to go.So the menu online says all rolls come with salad and miso soup, when my husband showed up for pickup all they handed him was a roll. When he asked for the rest of it they gave him just a salad (I ordered a seaweed salad as well and its not worth it tbh unless you want an actual salad and a small corner of seaweed salad).Really disappointed as I love miso soup. One would think if salad and miso soup comes standard with rolls it wouldnt be so easy to forget. Been trying to call back and phone is just a busy signal.Really annoying.
KOPAN SUSHI & RAMEN WEST COVINA
1230 Lakes Dr #101, West Covina, CA 91790, United States
A really great Japanese restaurant, hidden in West Covina! They have an ample selection of sushi, and other Japanese meals. Without food, they have a good selection of beers and sake. Furthermore, the prices are fair. So, if you need to grab a sushi meal, I would recommend a visit to this hidden gem of West Covina!
Yashima Restaurant

Fantastic old school Japanese restaurant that would be right at home in Gardena, but its hiding out in Covina. The food is great and the sushi chefs are top notch. Parking is in the back and you might have a bit of a wait at peak times. This is probably my Moms favorite place to eat, and thats high praise coming from a 3rd generation Japanese American.
Crazy RockN Sushi - Covina

Last night I went with my son and received the worst service ever! By the employees & the “manager” Craig! I had to ask for the complementary edamame & soup they give you & still they took for ever to bring it. I ordered the black spider roll that yes, usually it takes some time to make, but this took until my son was done with his food that was brought 15 minutes before. I only order it because the last time I order it at the bar it was delicious, this time it was nothing like the first time! the crab was not well fried & cold, as long as it took I would have thought it would have been somewhat warm at least just the legs of it!So I sent it back & ordered some baked muscles that as well took for ever, but while waiting I asked for edamame's, the waitress came back & told me they were out of it but once they were done they would bring me some, maybe a few minutes later while still waiting for the muscles the table next to me got an order of edamame's & I thought ok they'll bring me mine after, 5 minutes later nothing. They bring the muscles & they look really not good not golden brown as they usually are & the sauce on top not tasting good, I try to wave a waiter down to tell him about it & he just passes me as if he didn't see me, finally I call him over & asked to speak to the manager & he tells me he was the manager of the day, I asked him why he ignored me & that the service & food was not to part he just said ok sorry you are not pleased, I asked for my ck as I'm waiting a rude waitress comes over to bring me finally the edamame's & she says they're finally done, I told her well I saw the table next to me get some way before me but that's fine, she responded with a bad attitude saying “no they didn't they order them” I said that's fine & she grabs the small plate she had already placed on the table & throws it into a pile of dishes that were right infront of my table & walks away.Just a serious bad service! I hope they change their management soon & instruct their servers to have more people's skills.
Sakura of Tokyo
533 S Glendora Ave, West Covina, CA 91790, United States
Although weve lived in West Covina for over 20 years, for some reason weve never been to this Japanese restaurant. So for a pre-Mothers Day dinner, my husband and I decided to try Sakura.OMG! Food was amazing! Service was incredible and I got a chance to talk to a young lady who worked there who was from Japan. She was so helpful and so friendly.I ordered a chicken teriyaki and sashimi plate which was really delicious! Fish was very fresh and serving portions were huge. I ended up taking lots of it home. My husband ordered a stir-fry chicken dish which was huge as well. Loved all the fresh ingredients in his dish as well. We ended up taking a lot of his home as well.I can see why this restaurant has stood the test of time. They have all the right ingredients down pat to operate a great eating establishment: good food, good service, friendly people, large portions, and beautiful relaxed ambiance.

Went here for lunch with bogo coupon (Reg Bowl). I used the drive-thru and ordered, and asked for not so fried rice which is additional 50c. The drive-thru board had price of $6.99 for the reg bowl and I knew I had to pay .50c for the upgrade. I did math in my head $6.99 + 50c + 75c (tax @ 10%) for ballpark total of $8.25. When I got to the window the kid said the charge was $8.92, so I asked him to break down the charge. He said the reg bowl was $7 and change, then charged me twice for the rice and added tax. I told him the board said $6.99 for the bowl. His response was the price changed today. Ok, so why not change the board? I told him I would not pay anything other than what the board said, and he said he had to charge me the higher price even though the board was not current. I asked for the manager and a lady came to the window and said no deal plus I had to pay for the upgrade on the free bowl. I told her to make it reg rice because I was going to pay when it should be no additional cost. She said to go around and go to the back at the line because I was holding up the drive- thru! Not what I call customer service! And, it's not about .70c, it's about getting off your behind and change the drive-thru board if you change pricing!
SushiMe Rolln
2686 E Garvey Ave S, West Covina, CA 91791, United States
Cat the waitresses was less then desirable. Initially when we walked in to the restuarant and there was nobody there. The waitress cat said sit anywhere you want and couldnt be bothered by escorting us to a table. Once we set down, we received the worst treatment. Cat the waitress took 10 minutes to come back and asked if we wanted her to take our order. We gave the order and never saw her for about another 10 minutes. Once the first round of food came, we asked her for wasabi and ginger and she brought one portion. In addition, she acted very put out. At this time there was only 3 other tables being served. While we sat and waited for Cat to return, we were grossed out that the bar top, menu, soy sauce bottle where sticky and absolutely gross. We asked Cat to help us clean the items and area and she made us feel like we were unreasonable. Our hands stuck to the bottle, our arms stuck to the counter and the menus stuck to each other. In retrospect, we should have left, but we stayed. We ordered our food, and it took 10 minutes for her to bring us our drinks. The food came approximately 25 minutes after we ordered. Cat never came back to check on us for 45 minutes later she asked if everything was okay? In between, we had a fabulous male waiter named Philip who asked us if we needed anyting? We explained our situation, he handled it. In the meantime, we used the restroom. It was disgusting! There were no seat covers. The buildup of dirt and grime on the tile was unexcusable. The drain cover was not attached and you could literally have twisted your ankle in the size of the hole. Again, we dont know why we didnt leave. The food was delicious. We really enjoyed the company of people that we met at the bar. (Thats the only reason why we didnt leave) The music was way too loud and was obscure artists. We really believe, management needs to be a lot more on top of whats going on in this restaurant. Towards the end of our dinner, we heard this crazy and insane noise that sounded like electricity zapping. We looked down the bar, and there was a bug zapper on the floor zapping bugs. How disgusting! We will never frequent this restaurant again! There needs to be a full rehal on the standards set by this company. This restaurant has great potential and location but will never amount to anything because of the low standards set by management.
