Aozora Japanese Restaurant
820 Sycamore Valley Rd, Danville, CA 94526, United States
Great Japanese restaurant in Danvilles Livery. We like that we can make reservations at this restaurant especially on a weekend when its quite busy. It has a fair amount of seating inside the restaurant as well as outdoors with a few portable heaters. The staff is courteous and attentive despite it being a busy night when we were there.Food was delicious and we were served very quickly. I was amazed at how quickly everything was prepared. We had several sushi rolls, Salmon dinner, and Okonomiyaki (prawn and cabbage pancake). All the rolls and salmon dinner were great! The Okonomiyaki could be better; it was just too doughy for me.Overall, the experience was good.

Weve been here multiple times! So much tasty food, amazing service (the waitress is super attentive with her customers), and the decor is unique to what most likely are the owners tastes! An underrated Japanese restaurant in Danville!
MJ Sushi
3468 Camino Tassajara, Danville, CA 94506, United States
Located in the Blackhawk shopping center, next to the Safeway. This is an outstanding late night Japanese restaurant, specializing in high quality sushi rolls. I highly recommend their Deluxe hand roll: Uni, otoro, shiso leaf, ikura. They also feature House special rolls, and we tried their CB roll: salmon avocado, and fresh maguro tuna! Loved their high quality seafood and warm sushi rice. Sushi nigiri portions were large, generous cuts. I loved their otoro, hamachi, and ama ebi. Extremely fresh and delicious!
Sushi Yokohama

Was seated quickly enough. But took forever for the one lady to come even ask us what we wanted to drink. Then, she brought out some of the food (the bento box) yet still had not brought us water. I had to remind her. The food was good enough, but the sushi roll was enormous! That might just sound like value for your dollar, but there is absolutely such a thing as a sushi roll too large. The one I had, the Mt. Diablo, was just packed with extra imitation crab to get it to its ridiculous size. It was way to hard to eat, and it disintegrated into a pile after the first bite.Overall, decent taste and value. Poor service, and serious sushi structural issues.
KAORI
416 Sycamore Valley Rd, Danville, CA 94526, United States
New Japanese restaurant in Danville. I had lovely amazing birthday dinner with friends at Kaori?last night. It was beautiful gorgeous evening that we decided to sit out dining area. Beautiful furniture and decorations and soothing contemporary Jazz on the background music. We started tasty cocktails, and we ordered varieties of appetizers to share, and we also decided to share main course ( Entree) as well. It’s more Japanese/Asian fusion, Japanese elegant tapas/pub style.Service were excellent and foods came reasonable time! Really enjoy birthday dinner, and we will definitely go back as a repeater.

I cannot praise this place enough. I came here on a hot summer day with my niece and the staff made sure all of their dine in patrons were comfortable by adjusting the fans to their preferences. There was a couple celebrating a birthday so the staff placed a candle on her dessert and sang Happy Birthday to her. That was incredibly sweet of them to do!As soon as the honey toast arrived at our table, my niece could not stop eating it. She loved it so much that she forwent her utensils and stuck her face onto the plate. It is truly a delight every time I come here.

Forbes Mill Steakhouse
200 Sycamore Valley Rd W, Danville, CA 94526, United States
This review describes our first experience at Forbes Mill in Danville, CA. It was a birthday celebration. My partner and I celebrated my birthday as well as my move in the East Bay. This reservation was during the summer 2020 while the Covid-19 pandemic is still a big concern.Ambience:Excellent! Contra Costa County allows outdoor patio dining while prohibiting indoor dining. Very cozy and beautiful setup. All staff wore masks. Menu was provided for one time use, whereas cocktail/wine menu was provided on an iPad. Physical distancing was in place to ensure adequate space between tables. Bathroom was also clean with hand sanitizer provided at the exit.Food:Overall, Forbes Mill does not disappoint. We rated our experience very highly, certainly on par with the likes of other well-known steakhouses. Amazing crab cakes without any slight hint of fishiness. Their clam chowder was great. It was creamy but not overwhelming. Our cocktail was Parma Sutra and Forty Shades. Both were amazing! As for entrees, we tried the filet mignon, shrimp scampi, and Alaskan Halibut. They were all incredibly tasty. One suggestion that both of us would like to offer is to consider hot plates for entrees such as steaks to maintain temperature. Our food could be a little warmer this evening. Nevertheless, it did not reduce the high quality of food. Our free dessert was flourless chocolate cake and mini cream brûlée. Again, both are superb. The cream brûlée is exceptional with the hint of Kona coffee which made a very unique flavor.Service:Our waitress was Kathy. This was Kathy's first night at Forbes and she did an amazing job. She provided us with great hospitality. Clear extensive menu breakdown on daily specials. As this was our first visit to Forbes, she gave us a brief history of the restaurant which we found interesting and was greatly appreciated. We observed that this was a busy night for her, as she had to take care of multiple tables as we were seated. Ultimately, Kathy did a great service for us. We certainly would love to come back in the ne'er future, Thank you Kathy! Conclusion:As frequent goers in fine dining restaurants, we strongly recommend and rated Forbes Mill highly among other well-known steakhouses. Other than temperature issues, its food quality is otherwise amazing.
