This place is like the Rolls-Royce of Asian style BBQ like yakiniku or KBBQ. Very cozy and quaint location reminiscent of actual Japanese yakiniku restaurants so call ahead and make those reservations. There were only 2 wait staff when we went so there was a little lag in service however they were amazing and very accommodating.Since it was our first time coming here I opted for the American Wagyu set. Not the most expensive set but not the least. Also tried the sea urchin beef sushi and the seafood pancake (pajeon)People used to KBBQ may find this different since the grill is grated and more of an open flame so the meat cooks quickly. This is important since its a very good quality of meat and the amount of fat makes a difference.That being said, we were on a food journey. The quality and feel of the meat changed with every cut. From the super fatty A5 Japanese Wagyu Ribeye to the Salted Tongue everything was amazing but had their own characteristics which made then unique. Id also recommend the shiso rice with this meat its a game changer.Tamaen isnt like those AYCE KBBQ spots so you wont necessarily get overly full, but the quality of meat is worth every penny. Cant wait to go again.

One of the delicious Japanese restaurants that has been around for a long time. This is a restaurant run by the owner and his wife.The general doesnt talk much, so he looks scary at first glance, but when you talk to him, hes really nice. The wife serves it cutely on the floor.Of course we guarantee the taste.There are also authentic Japanese items on the menu, so you can go back to Japan after eating them.Please use it once.

When I a. Down the hill in the Gardena area and need Japanese food this is my go to place. The food and service are great. The atmosphere is not elegant at all, you will walk in and see mostly Japanese people gathered at small tables. Then further in a sushi bar and more small tables. It reminds me of some of the restaurants in Japan so thats why 5 stars for atmosphere. This a very authentic Japanese restaurant.

A Japanese restaurant in Gardena. We each ordered fried chicken and spam udon set meals. Both were very delicious. The staff were also very polite. By the way, ice cream is served with the set meal.

When you think of a Japanese restaurant, you would automatically think ramen. Not this restaurant! Spoon House Bakery & Restaurant is a small family owned restaurant that serves Japanese inspired pasta.Their pastas are very affordable and have a great selection to choose from.They provide you complimentary bread from their bakery with your meal. If you want a salad to go along with your meal, you can order the side salad for $1.The only problem with this restaurant is that it is very small so it takes time to get seated if there are people waiting for a table especially on the weekends.

This is hands down the best Japanese Italian restaurant in California that I have ever been to. It has been 15 years since my husband has been coming here. There is always a high level of quality and deliciousness to the food. You will be able to enjoy Japanese-style Italian pasta dishes. There are a variety of options available for you to choose from. The combination of hamburger and pasta is a favorite of ours, and the curry is also well worth trying. There is no doubt that each dish is prepared with great care and love. It is interesting to note that the chef (owner?) has never changed. It is a same person since it opened. They play jazz music and you will find yourself at peace in that restaurant. The server is very nice n we love him too! Overall you won’t be disappointed in experience dining here!!

As of January of 2018Sanuki no Sato is my fave Japanese restaurant! i have brought my friends from Osaka, Japan to Sanuki no Sato and we always love it!!!brought the fiance last night for his birthday dinner and he enjoyed every dish we ordered:-Agemochi Oroshi-Wakadori Tebasaki Karaage-Aburi Toro Salmon-Tempura Zaru Soba (his entree)-Kara Nabe Udon (my entree)-Kinakomochi w/ Black Sesame Ice Creamin April of 2013came back to Sanuki with some friends who have moved to the States from Japan.we ordered the following:1. Uni Shuto: pickled sea urchin2. Nasu Dengaku: fried Japanese eggplant w/ 2 kinds of sweet miso3. Tebasaki Shioyaki: lightly salted broiled chicken wings4. Age Mochi Oroshini: deep fried mochi rice cake in soy broth topped w/ grated daikon5. Agemochi Oroshi Udon (entree): served with deep fried mochi and grated daikon radish6. Kinako-Mochi Ice: baked rice cake w/ soybean flour and ice creameveryone loved the items we ordered.cannot remember what main entrees my Japanese friends ordered, but they also loved their entrees too.my friends also enjoyed chatting it up in Japanese with the owner of Sanuki no Sato.the food & experience at Sanuki no Sato is most definitely 5 stars worthy!!! (:in January of 2012Sanuki No Sato is the closest ive come to finding yummy, correct chewiness consistency udon outside of Japan!ive been on the hunt for good soba & udon since having the best soba & udon (in my opinion) in Nara & Tokyo respectively.ive only been to Sanuki No Sato once for a birthday gathering,but its definitely on my list of faves and i will most definitely be a repeat customer there soon!the birthday gathering was a large group of 20+ people.upon entering our private party tatami room, i felt like i was back in japan again!oh how i miss japan and the food!i ordered the Sanshoku Wariko Udon - a trio of mini udon: salmon roe, nameko mushrooms, seasoned herring, quail egg, grated nagaimo yam, daikon radish.it was all SO delicious & reminded me of the fresh hand made udon i had in Tokyo.if you love authentic Japanese cuisine - i highly recommend Sanuki No Satothe service was impeccable - it is always difficult to serve a large group, but the staff was totally on top of things & was never impatient with us.i think the staff may have also mentioned that Sanuki No Sato flies in some of their ingredients directly from Japan (in response to my asking if the soba and udon were made in house - i forget if they do).dont quote me on it, but i remember her saying something along those lines...plenty of parking in the plaza that it is located in.

This restaurant provides an excellent array of tasty and subtle dishes, in a building that creates an intimate dining setting with very few bells and whistles. Simply put, amazing Japanese cuisine at an affordable price. Yakitori here is a must, with rustic versions like Chicken Liver and Heart, even Gizzard (if you are brave!), also classic renditions of Chicken tenders with Ume Plu as well as Chicken tenders with Fresh Wasabi. Tempura was a hit from the start, they mix it up more so than then normal sushi spot would, includes red pepper, eggplant, Japanese pumpkin and asparagus! Cold zaru soba is a buckwheat noodle, also my go-to item for a filling noodle with a refreshing soup dip, (yes!) makes it worth every visit. Friendly Staff who remember your face and treat you like family are always a pleasure to see :) Walking here from my place is a mission (4.5 blocks) but when you eat this nice it makes every trip worth the walk (burn some calories, save some gas).I am grateful to have access to restaurants of this caliber right around the corner. Give this place a try, you will be pleasantly surprised.P.S.Try the plum wine! Its truly the tastiest wine they offer.
