Chopsticks Inn Restaurant
8687 La Mesa Blvd, La Mesa, CA 91942, United States
Had a slight disappointment when today when I found out that their Japanese chef was not available and that the Japanese food on the menu was temporarily not available, but that just goes to show how much they believe in authentic and good food that dont push chefs that havent mastered certain recipes to cook. I had the curry with chicken and it was still delicious, even though it wasnt what I came to get. The interior of the restaurant is cozy and welcoming and sets the atmosphere. And the service is great and friendly, not only knowing menu items but also showing a passion towards all of them.

Banbu Sushi Bar & Grill
8555 Fletcher Pkwy Ste 106, La Mesa, CA 91942, United States
Went here on 12/3/22, right after they opened and it was great.Since they just opened, obviously not a lot of people. They share the parking lot but there was overflow parking across the street which was less than 5 minutes away depending where in the garage you parked. I loved that they thought of this and it is next to the trolley station. For shareables: we ordered i think wontons, jalapeño poppers, nori fries, & fire cracker shrimp.Everything was piping hot & delicious. I love that went you bit into the fire cracker shrimp, you could actually see a shrimp inside! And it was whole. The dips accompanied with these apps were great! And the greenery was raw, shredded cabbage which i ate with the sweet chili sauce they paired with the wontons. The fire cracker shrimp had a spicy mayo dip that was delicious and they should probably sell these 2 in stores.Rolls: ceviche roll, Philadelphia roll, cherry blossom roll, langostino roll, & green helix were ordered. Philly was okay. Ceviche was great. Langostino was so savory. Cherry blossom & green helix were great. For the green helix there are fried sweet potato and fried green onions on top which gives it a nice texture difference.Drinks: we ordered the strawberry mango and mango sake. Strawberry mango sake was fantastic. But the mango sake didnt taste like mango to me. You probably will need to order 2 if you like to drink but i think 1 bottle gives you about 4-5 shots. The glass bottle itself is super cool and has a hole in it to hold ice. So it keeps the liquid cold but since its not in direct contact with the liquid, the liquid doesnt get watered down.If this place was closer, i would go here often. If you are not a good eater, i suggest sticking to 1 app and 1 roll. I was already full before the sushi came but i pushed through. Make sure you save $40 from 4 paychecks because most items were $14+. It is pricey, but worth it!

This local market is one of my favorites! All of the food vendors are great especially: House of Bao, South Bay Salsas, Spooky House Bakery, Lovely Loaves, Beekeepers Choice, the Kombucha vendor, kettle corn vendor, and all of the vegetable vendors. They also have awesome craft vendors like: RavensMagikEmporium (Body Scrub & Candles), the Turkish Towels, the Russian Wool Socks & Gloves, theres a crystal vendor, and much more! Some of the vendors change depending on the season, but its always a great place to shop!Anyone who loves farmers markets should definitely check it out!

Konnichiwa Sushi & Bar
8350 La Mesa Blvd, La Mesa, CA 91942, United States
Great location - bad food! Everything had zero taste and zero flavor. By far the worst Japanese restaurant and it’s sad cause it could have potential. Asked for a side of noodles for my toddler and ask for full flavor and veggies and was presented with a cup of boiled udon noodles… definitely put off! The sushi roll - ‘Oh gosh’ or something similar, was super bland and only tasted of the fried onions. So sad and disappointed really wanted to like this place

Brigantine Seafood & Oyster Bar
9350 Fuerte Dr, La Mesa, CA 91941, United States
I love the Brig. Its a great place to go for a delicious meal. Im only writing because I felt that the service let us down a little when my friends I went to dine last night. There were three specific things that happened that just rubbed me the wrong way:1. Because the cost of food has increased so much over the past couple of years, I feel that the attention to detail for customers needs to be top notch. Especially, when youre going to a restaurant that is not inexpensive. Our waiter, Matthew, started out great. He was attentive and kind. When he read the specials, I specifically asked for pricing. When I ordered, I told Matthew that my friend and I were going to split one of the specials. We received our entrees on two separate plates, which I thought was very nice and accommodating. When the bill came, I noticed the entree was $6 more than what he quoted us and when I inquired he told me it was for the surcharge of splitting the entree. Now, I hadnt specifically asked him to put it onto two separate plates. My friend and I are perfectly capable of doing that. I would have hoped, a more upscale restaurant with a surcharge like this, would have given me the option of having them split it or telling me about the surcharge. My friend pushed back on him for the extra cost and he became defensive, not apologetic at all. That was where it really rubbed me the wrong way. We were talking about $6, which again, in the long run, isnt a lot, but with the price of everything and the principle of being transparent, especially when I had already asked about pricing in the first place, the delicious meal I had turned a little sour.2. We ordered oyster shooters and again, I asked if there was a buy two for $10 or some sort of special, and our waiter said no. We had ordered 3 shooters. I know other Brigantine restaurants have this, but I didnt push it. When I examined the bill. I saw the 2 shooters for $10 and another single shooter for $6. I would have liked to have the option of ordering another shooter for an additional $4.3. My friend asked for a wine recommendation, and the waiter brought her a sample. She liked it, and neither one said anything about price. When the bill came, it was $22 for a glass.I realize that the 3rd example doesnt affect me. But it played into the overall theme of the evening where I felt like I wasnt being told all of the information. Our group paid a lot of money to eat at a nice restaurant with good food where the service should have matched, and I personally felt a little bamboozled. I will go back, but Ill be wary to ask the right questions so I dont walk away feeling a little empty after Ive just eaten.

Rancho San Diego Village
3681 Avocado Blvd, La Mesa, CA 91941, United States
Rancho San Diego has that small suburb, very clean, The Citizens take pride in their neighborhood feeling. Every Business from the small market at Chase and Jamacha, to the Shopping Center at Avocado and 94/Campo rd, are all very warm, cheerful, and welcoming. We celebrate our grandsons birthdays at Hilton Head County Park every year. Low crime, plenty of shopping dining, and entertainment. I live in El Cajon and prefer to obtain our familys essentials in Rancho San Diego. If I could afford to live there I would. I feel safe in this community, and its evident by how well maintained the residents keep it that they take great pride in their welcoming community. If you ever get the chance to take the kids to the park, it will become one of their favorite places to play.
