Shogun Restaurant
2123 Foothill Blvd, La Verne, CA 91750, United States
Shogun is one of the best Japanese restaurants I’ve ever been to! I came here for a close friend’s birthday and it was mind-blowing how entertaining the chef was! The food was amazing, the fried rice with the different assortment of sauces was delicious. 10/10 I will be coming back soon.
Aoki Japanese Restaurant

The food at the place is generally ok, however the service and atmosphere are terrible. Today I went to the restaurant for the first time and when I went to order and said I didnt know some of the dishes there and had asked if there were portions with two units, the woman simply didnt explain, asked me to decide what to order and told me I turned around, and it said that there were no two-piece dishes, although the menu said that there were, even some of the ones I had asked about, that they were not missing. When I commented to a teacher what he thought of a certain place, he also complained that the place was pretty bad. The second time I ordered, this time for delivery, I just didnt order from another Asian restaurant, because the last one in La Verne, Wang, was about to close and wouldnt be open until the next day. The other Japanese restaurants that I found much more interesting, super close to here, didnt deliver because they were in another city
Kaiba Japanese Ramen Sushi & Grill - La Verne

Been wanting to review this place, finally found some time to do so. This place needs a proper review so people know how awesome it is. IF YOU HAVE NOT TRIED THIS PLACE, TRY IT NOW! If you are into Japanese food, fresh sashimi, Ramen, Sushi Rolls, this is one of the best places to have it. I had tried the Monterey Park location, but was so happy that this place opened up nearby. I asked if they are part of the same Chain, and I was told yes, even some of the staff was brought over to get this place started. The Servers and manager were extremely nice and accommodating. Some of the new staff you can tell was new, but was really nice. One of the biggest pros that I can say about this place is the space! I always had to wait so long in Monterey Park, but there is a lot of seating here, even if you have a party of 8.FoodSo many good options, like I said the fish is fresh, and food is delicious. I would recommend the Sashimi Platter, so good with the REAL Wasabi. Heart attack are made with huge Jalepeno, and so much better then all you can eat sushi places. Hungry Man is one of our favorite rolls, and their grand opening special for beer and sake is the cherry on top.Place again is big and clean, the parking lot has plenty of parking. Again wonderful experience, will be back next week!
Shota Sushi Japanese Restaurant

Ordered 2 tempura mix and they were great. Coated perfectly but the sauce mixture didn't taste like any other tempura sauce I've had. I also ordered a TNT roll. I did get it to go so it was in a foam to go box. Inside it has deep fried eel, avocado and albacore tuna. Outside it had spicy scallop, masago and green onion with unagi and spicy Mayo. From the picture on yelp, it didn't look anything like it. It came with 5 pieces. It was also plated in such an awkward way, pieces randomly scattered and sauce on the foam plate like it was dropped there and then moved. The whole thing was deep fried and had some white jelly like substance on top, I'm assuming it is the scallops but it was more like crystal boba than scallops. I had 2 and then in the 3rd one, I found a fish bone. I bit into it and luckily didn't swallow it before finding the bone. Spit it out and saw a bone nearly an inch big. First time here and it was empty when we went in, shoulda been an indicator that it's not the greatest. Probably won't be returning back after this first experience.

This place reminds me of my hometown in San Dimas, you have all these stores and restaurants, and you may not know a great place like this exists! We just finished a check up for my kid in the area and wanted to try something new. After reading multiple yelp comments we decided to give this place a try togo. The lady that took my order on the phone was nice and made sure my questions were answered.FoodSo the food here reminds me of some other fusion places, but they make it quite tasty. We tried the bimbimbop and pork belly bowl and the Gogi Fries. The fries were ok, but I particularly liked both of the bowls. You get to choose brown or white rice and they both come with a good amount of Vegatables inside from bak choi to kale, while having very flavorful protein. The place was nice and clean, but isn't that big so I wouldn't recommend big parties to come in to eat. If I am in the area I would definitely stop by again! Until next time !

Ok, read the reviews and almost did not go as I had a strange request. Read the one about cold and thought they would be unhelpful. Boy I would have missed out. It was Christmas Eve day. Slammed everywhere. I call to see if they sold fresh Dog bones. The guy who answered was very helpful and nice. He said they sold bones. I then I asked the question I always get no to. How about cutting them for small dogs. He said not sure how small we wanted them but come over and he would do his best.Well we arrived there, they were very busy. But we were helped right away. He asked what we wanted, then reasked to make sure he he got it right. Said cool let me get them cut smaller. Have a seat.We sat and this is when we got a chance to observe the place. Nice and CLEAN. Couple big tables I guess to eat. Have a BIG selection of meat...of course. But they had side dishes. LOTS of awesome deserts and party type foods. AND Wine, lots of Wines. But the best part was the service. As we sat and weighted we must have been asked 5 times if we had been helped. The guy at the register... my wife thought the owner knew many of the people picking up orders by name. Asked about family and was genuinely old school butcher shop frendly.Well our order was ready. Note our old butcher made us order bones a week in advance. Then was pissy when we asked to have them cut as the were often bigger than our dog. These were purfect. So guys ya got a fan. Job will done. Ya made our little dogs Christmas and proved that there is still 10+ friendly customer service in American.
Spooners

So wonderfully surprised. Craving Korean and this place came up. Spooners is not your usual Korean restaurant name, so cant be too surprised that I was surprised :)Well gave them a shot and happy I did. Tried four different dishes because I just couldnt decide and was starving. All really good and all worth trying again. Only issue is that they had so many other dishes I wanted to try.Kalbi - delish. Thought the amount of meat was a bit light for the price, but it was really really good.Pork belly - One of my faves and not something I can eat often unless at AYCE KBBQ, so this was a treat. Came with all the fixings too. Definitely reorder item for me.Yukgaejang or spicy beef soup - another definite reorder. Well seasoned and tasty. Really hit the spot on a cold night.Jjajangmyun - black bean noodles. Another wonderful surprise. This is a dish usually found at Korean/Chinese specialty restaurants. It was spot on.Everything was packed well for delivery and came with enough side dishes. Would have like more kimchi, but can ask for that next time.
