Sushi Kokku
630 1st St, Paso Robles, CA 93446, United States
Its a good quick to go Japanese restaurant. Ordered at the counter and either dine in or take to go. Its a chain, there are several in San Luis Obispo County. All of them consistently have good food. Service fluctuates a little bit from place to place, but overall its my go-to for quick good Japanese food in the county.

Samurai Sushi & Roll
1131 Creston Rd #99, Paso Robles, CA 93446, United States
This place got a lot of good reviews, but it just didnt work for us. Theyve done a nice job of decorating, but the rock/hip hop/rap music made us feel like we were sitting in a bar doing shots instead of in a restaurant eating sushi. That might be a plus for some, but it was a mood killer for us. The rolls were generous, but they were so loosely rolled that every piece fell apart the instant we picked it up. The prices are comparable with other sushi restaurants in the area; no great deals here. The service was neither good nor bad; the food was neither good nor bad; so I am giving them three stars. If you like to eat sloppy sushi to the beat of rock/hip hop/rap music, then youll love this place. We didnt.

My favorite place to pick up a delicious, healthy, filling and super reasonable lunch!! They are always kind ladies who seem so grateful to have you in their business and when I tip (which is EVERY time) they are so appreciative, which makes me think there are a lot of nontippers which is just crazy to me! Please tip, even if it is just Togo, doesn't have to be a lot, but something! We always end up spending so much less then any other lunch even after the tip.My favorite is the Freshman, which is the 1 protein with choice of base, with white rice as a bowl and Salmon as my protein. The salmon always tastes super fresh, buttery and not fishy at all! Even fresher tasting then the dine in Japanese spots around. And I have been here many many times. Same thing every time, Fresh!I like lots of sauce and they have a bunch you can choose from or get multiple, I like a little sweet with spicy so I go for the Unagi and Fireball, soooo good!! And the toppings and mix-ins are plentiful, fresh and delicious. You really can Not go wrong choosing anything from here. My fiancé is more of a tuna or chicken fan so he always switches it up and has loved every single choice! I just really could not say more fantastic things about Poke Chef here in Paso, hidden Gem totally worth not being able to dine in. We take to go and head over a couple blocks to the city park, people watch and enjoying our bowls. Thanks Poke Chef you guys are great!

Hana Korean BBQ
1477 Creston Rd, Paso Robles, CA 93446, United States
A Korean gem in the middle of Paso Robles, I know its marketed as Japanese because of the teriyaki but the owners and cook are Korean. Its actually pretty amazing clean Korean food, couple this with the nearby hot springs and you are set. The bibimpap was wonderful, you will need to add a good amount of gochujang and maybe a touch of soy sauce, otherwise it was wonderful. Udon broth was more along the line of a mixed Korean gom tang with again a good amount of vegetables. The setting is typical for a mom and pop Korean restaurant, the bible and inspirational verses are a great plus. I see that its their ministry that comes first and the business is secondary. Great place to eat will be coming back when we drive up.

I couldnt make up my mind as to whether or not to give this place only 2 stars, but I decided to give it 3 based on the service of the hostess. I havent been here for about 3 years. We decided to go and have a drink for my Birthday. Well, we asked if we could be seated in front of the fireplace. The hostess was very friendly and quite accommodating. After sitting there for about two minutes we all realized that all of the furniture, even the table was the exact same furniture that was there 3 years prior. This is a very low lit place. It is their ambiance. But, after taking a closer look not just was the furniture the same but it was filthy. On top of that there was only one bartender on duty and when we wanted to pay for our drinks he was now in the hotel lobby talking to the desk staff. He had made eye contact with us and just turned his back. At this point the hostess had noticed what was taking place and she went over and drug him away from his conversation. When he came over he didnt ask us if we cared for another drink but instead asked if we wanted our check??? Since all of their specialty cocktails are one price, $15 we were happy to leave. The food did look and smell fantastic. I dont mind spending a little more but the owners really need to step up and refurbish this place. After all it does take spending money to make money. Before I go back I will make it a point to go there ahead of time and check out the conditions. If it is, at the very least, not cleaned up I will not be patronizing this establishment until it is.
