This is my go to. Generous portions, very friendly staff, always consistent, and open all day unlike most Japanese restaurants.
Izakaya Jin
457 W Channel Islands Blvd, Port Hueneme, CA 93041, United States
If youre in the mood for some authentic Japanese cuisine then you found the right place. Izakaya Jin is unique from the other sushi restaurants in the county by offering Izakaya-style food, in addition to the more familiar Japanese dishes like sushi (nigiri, rolls, and sashimi) and udon/soba. The Izakaya part of its name definitely rings true here, you just want to stay to eat and sample every dish, and find the right pairing of Japanese beers/spirits with your meals.I had the chicken curry and it was delicious and was much more flavorful than any other curries I had in this county. Youll definitely get to explore the greater complexity of flavors a Japanese curry can have here at Izakaya Jin.Overall, this is my new favorite Japanese restaurant in the county and am looking forward to visiting again soon. Ill definitely want to try their sushi next time.

Not just a pho place, they have all around good food and a friendly staff. My wife and I got take out here the other day because she was craving soup. I agreed because they also had egg rolls and Banh Mi. The staff was super friendly and helpful after their online ordering system went down.We got take out so only saw the inside shortly but it was clean and orderly. The theme is fun and it definitely looks like a place Id sit down for lunch. The food was great! I got the beef Banh Mi and was surprised of its quality and depth of flavor. The veggies were fresh and the beef was tender and flavorful. All on a fresh roll. Im excited to try the other flavors. Also, these are large sandwiches, about an 8 from Quiznos. The egg rolls were good as usual. Unexpectedly the shrimp wonton rolls were great! Large fresh shrimp in a crispy wonton wrapper, getting those again. My wife, with her abnormal love of spicy food, was able to get them to make her soup hotter than I would be able to eat (and I like spicy). She loved it though and wants to go every day. If youre a normal person their hot is a good spicy soup. While picking up I found that they offered a hot pot to go menu. This looks like a blast and the wife and I will by trying it next time. I added a picture of that menu since I didnt see it on her before we ordered.Overall its a great place that I would highly recommend for soup and much more.
Poke Ramen
429 E Port Hueneme Rd, Port Hueneme, CA 93041, United States
I have lived in this county for many years and have seen that establishment go thru multiple hands, Friends being a Fav. Oh the biscuits &gravyAlthough for me tonight sparked a new Triple D, they can start setting up for a future episode nowOur first line of business we asked, do we seat ourselves?, and the gal politely said no you simply order off the menu above and we will bring the food to were ever you would like to sit.My daughter ordered a appetizer of beef Gyoza and a California roll, my wife ordered the Chicken C pop bowl and I the Poke combo, I really liked the sushi style check sheet to build your bowl, it was simple yet complete. No sooner we stopped talking about how the old layout of the previous restaurants were and our food was ready.Everything looked picture perfect and the smells were spectacular, I have been to Korea, lived in Japan, as well as Hawaii an this is a genre of all three.Go and try, you wont be disappointed, the prices Rock, and we walked away very happy and look so forward to returning for other menu options:)))
Surfside Seafood

So far my experience is pretty tame, No military discount here though or at least the guy said not at this time, so they probably do special occasions. So CONs: 1 crab cake cost 10.95 with fries its 2 dollars more, the taste is ok, but not worth the price. Also cheese fries can only be ordered alone they wont add it to fries you get with your food so even if fries are 2 dollars more cheese fries are like 8 bucks plus and there is no way eased droped the apparently regular melted cheese worth 6 and some change. PRO: Fresh oysters were surprisingly good worth the price ponzu sauce carried though. Neutral Ground: the 4pc fish was painfully bland on its own, but if you like sauces then you would like them, and the pieces were huge I would stick to the 2pc if you have a small stomach. Its good for an experience but maybe not a constant date out choice and this review was made while I was craving fried fish sooo.... you have been warned ok byeeee.TLDR: oyster ok, fish with sauce ok, get 2pc for small stomachs, crab cake avoid the disappointment

DONT COME TO THIS PLACE! Total rip off! My daughter lives in the area (I was visiting frm L.A) and she came to my hotel room to bring me breakfast and say good bye to me as I was checking out and going back home. She happen to bring her dog with her and we were all visiting inside the room when a very rude Hispanic woman frm the front desk came in to “inspect” for any damages etc in order to give us our $150 deposit back. Well as soon as she saw my daughters dog she immediately said that there was no pets allowed and we told her that my daughter just came to bring us breakfast she and her dog had only been there not even 5min and were leaving. The rude lady's attitude instantly changed! She started walking around the room said that it smelt like dog (but my daughters dog is an indoor dog very clean short hair and doesn't smell at all in fact the dog is very pampered and spoiled) and just was looking for any excuse to keep our deposit. I asked her how does the room smell like dog when the dog has only been here 5 min? Really? If anything it smelled like food! Then she left and said she'll be back to do a more thorough inspection after everyone is out of the room. When she came back she said that one of the comforters on the bed was dirty and she assumes it was frm the dog again, not true we stayed in that room 3 days 2 nights swimming eating going in and out that's normal. We argued with her abt that she refused to listen or talk with us instead she walked away rolled her eyes at us and said we were not getting our deposit back. My husband was upset I was upset because her attitude was so unprofessional she was being ridiculous with her claims of “dog smell” and there were absolutely no damages or anything used or missing frm the room. She simply just wanted to keep the deposit! As we're walking out of the room my husband kind of slammed the door and the woman turned around and yelled at my husband, “You want me to call the police!” And I'm standing there and said, “For what? For shutting the door? Why would you waste the police's time for that? That's ridiculous lady” she turned to me and said “Yes! For that and also because your husband pushed me!” OMG! I can't believe that this woman lied like that! I was standing there the whole time! Not once did my husband physically touch her! Then she says, “ And You will be put on our Do Not Return list! So have a good day!” And walked away. Now, I am ready to go all the way with this lady and this hotel establishment legally. I'm contacting a lawyer right away. I would've easily given up my deposit IF there was a legit reason(s). But because of her attitude, her unprofessionalism and flat out rudeness, I will pursue this issue until it is corrected.
