Songhak Korean BBQ - Tustin
13828 Red Hill Ave, Tustin, CA 92780, United States
Just be fair the food was fine. And the service had been fine until the last moment that my friend and I experienced something terribly wrong! Date: May 31st, 2022. Time: Around 3:05pm Location: The right corner of the booth if walking from the entrance of Songhak Korean BBQ restaurant in Tustin, CA. We came across this restaurant by chance for our lunch at about 2:20pm. At around 3pm I found two staffs were in the cashier counter. Suddenly the light was off in half of the restaurant that included the table we were still eating. At first, we thought it might have been a mistake with short circuit or just a human wrong touch. While seeing other side of customers of the restaurant enjoying their food with light on, I found myself and my friend eating with darkness. Nobody came to explain what had happened to us after a few minutes. Upon questioning, a waiter named Alan (he claimed) replied that he was not the person turning off the light. I told him that I did not care who had turned off the light, I just needed the light to be back on so that we could continue our lunch. The waiter became impatient and repeated that he had not turn off the light. I asked Alan if he could turn on the light so that we could finish our lunch. He neither answered my question nor solved the problem. Alan, the waiter, told me that no manager on duty when I requested to speak to his supervisor. This young waiter Alan even impatiently told me that he was already off duty as if he had offered the conversation beyond his duty. At this point, I believe it would have been waist our time discussing further. Although we left with dissatisfaction and disappointment, I nevertheless left the tips for the waiter for his service in the first part of our meal. For a restaurant that I just found it in Google with my cell phone, I did not expect any extraordinary meal experience but just for a decent Korean BBQ lunch. However, I did not expect such an awful incident that my friend and I would have experienced. It totally ruined our mood for sure! I still do not understand what went wrong or why we experienced blackout when having the lunch. I guessed a possible answer: We had arrived around 2:20pm and the light was off at around 3pm, perhaps the employees wanted to close our section and therefore rudely turned off the light! We were led to this table; we were not told if they need to close at 3pm! Please note that other customers were still in the other side of the restaurant for their meals when our tables light was turned off. This was a ridiculous experience in my life! Since the waiter Alan told me that no supervisor could be informed, I decided to share my unfortunate experience to the public! Let public know about it and let people judge it!

Walking in the restaurant has amazing decor and is well put together. The hostess was very welcoming and sat us immediately even though we were early for our reservation. Then it all went downhill. While everyone elses servers were calm and collected, doing an amazing job, ours was terrible. She spent the first fifteen walking past our table just saying sorry every time we caught glances. Keep in mind they werent super busy and all the other staff served tables immediately. Finally when she came to take our drink orders we told her we were ready to order our meals too. My wife ordered the tamarind margarita, I just got a soda, calamari for the app, kimchi fried rice with crab as the protein, and the honey prawns. Our server forgot to bring us our drinks so another server brought my soda and a water for my wife. Finally we were told that they were out of tamarind, so my wife ordered a plain margarita. What she ended up getting was what tasted like tequila and sweet and sour mix in a whiskey glass. The food started good at first, but even with the server stressing that the app would come first, my wifes food came with it and mine didnt. The calamari was amazing. Lightly breaded, and tasted super fresh. The kimchi fried rice was ok, but lacked any real kimchi flavor and there was hardly any crab in it, just a few shreds which was super disappointing because they charge $6 extra for crab. My food didnt come out, and after 20 minutes of waiting and my wifes food getting cold because she didnt want to eat without me, our server finally tells us that they forgot my food and they would start it now. A couple minutes later my food arrived but by then my wifes food was cold and what I had just gotten was cold too. The broccoli tasted like they just took it out of the fridge, and for $23 you get 6 rubbery, tail still on shrimp that taste like they cooked them from frozen. The manager comped my plate but when we got the bill we noticed my wifes $15 tamarind margarita turned into a $23 margarita with no warning of the up charge, and the only exception being thats what they charge for tequila. We refused to pay that, but said we would pay the initial $15 that it said on the menu since she drank it. The bill ended up being $54 for some good calamari, some bland fried rice, and a terrible margarita.Best part was when we got home and reheated the rice we found a chunk of sharp plastic in it. Not worth it at all. I know new places have bumps they have to iron out when they open but this was ridiculously bad. I feel like with a different server we would have had a different experience because ours was just terrible. Dont think well be back to give it another chance.

Great place for chicken and some beer. Some people think its a Korean restaurant. Its not..its a bar to get the typical bar food and drink. If you want the restaurant feel, you best look elsewhere.
VOKO Karaoke Lounge
14561 Red Hill Ave, Tustin, CA 92780, United States
If I had to describe Voko in three words: fun, clean, and friendly! If you love singing, Voko is a haven full of private rooms for you to sing inside. They also have tambourines. The mics offered are high quality, and Ive never experienced the terrible mic feedback that other local facilities have put me through.Voko has one of the cleanest and largest spaces out of the karaoke lounges in the OC. For those with stage fright, youre only singing in a private room with whomever you select to be there. Also, everyone around you will probably be drinking and singing and not care what you sound like so dont let that hold you back! They have many popular English songs and a number of Korean, Japanese, plus a ton of Chinese song selections. It would be amazing if the facility could update their english song selections since they are missing a number of popular artists and songs from the past few decades. This would truly solidify its 5-star status. They also have a decent menu of food items in case you are hungry. Fries, pizza, wings, Korean seafood pancakes, etc. Taste is pretty good though portions are a little smaller for premium prices. No outside drinks are permitted, but theyve got plenty of water and alcohol you can purchase.Service is usually on point! The owner and staff are incredibly friendly and try to give you a very positive experience, even when they are busy.Prices are par for the course for the OC, but well worth the value for a really nice space and experience.

We went here tonight just to give it a shot as we have been disappointed recently with our two usual Mexican restaurants lately and wow!!!! The food was amazing the fajitas some of the best I have had in a very long time. So much flavor I didn't need to add anything on it cause it was that good. My husband got the fajita salad and he was extremely taken back out how flavorful the chicken was. The staff was so amazing when we came in, greeted with a smile, made sure we were seen as soon as we walked in. Very attentive. Waitress was so friendly and attentive to not only us but to the other customers as well. Everything was clean and they were very organized. Our order was to go and they offered chips and salsa while we ate and although we didn't take them up on it it was so nice to be offered. Food was done fast packed nicely. We live 15 minutes away so I was worried about how it would taste when we got home but I was genuinely surprised at how warm and great it was. Thank you for a great experience and amazing food.
R&R Quality Meats & Seafood

Great selection of cuts at a great price for some and decent prices for others. My only gripe is that their customer service is great by the workers but not the best in one circumstance by a manager. They had a deal for 30% off a meat cut so I went in and got 2 lbs. of it. When I got home I realized the price was a little high so I double checked the weight and realized they forgot to give the discount. This isn't a big deal since the discount was just emailed out the day before so I totally get maybe some people weren't updated or just forgot to check. However, how it was handled next is what knocked a star off for me.I called the store explaining what happened, they connected me to a manager, and they said come in and get credit or just get another pound of that meat (so I would've evened out either way).So I gotta drive back out there on my lunch break, let them correct the mistake just to be back to even, and make the drive back.I feel like for the inconvenience of making a customer double the trip due to a mistake on your end means you throw something extra in. Nothing big, just something to say “sorry for the extra inconvenience since you had to waste another 35 minutes of your day.” I mean it could've been a $5 rub thrown in for all I care, it's just the principle that counts. It's like if a waiter at a restaurant forgot to put an order in for like 30 extra minutes: yes you still get your meal, but if the delay is significant enough just throw in some free drinks or fries because you've wasted people's time unnecessarily at that point.I've read some other reviews that apparently had the same experience. So yeah overall get your meats here because it's an amazing place still, but just something of note. This review is really only for the business owner's awareness just to let them get a pulse on the customer experience. Once is not a big deal, especially for me, but if this happens every time a mistake is made by the R&R team it might have a greater impact overtime.Edit: Taking another star off. Just went back and the same manager as mentioned above got me a meat selection, wrapped it in butchers paper, and then just handed me the cut with meat juice on the outside of the wrap. Every other time I went AND every other person there at the time got their stuff put in a bag. Second time this manager just handed me the stuff straight with some meat juice on the outside of the wrap and no bag. Also I'm pretty sure they wrapped wearing the same gloves they used to handle the meat, which isn't a big deal if they got it in a bag, but just makes it worse that they didn't. I'm just surprised a butcher shop out of all places would negate this.
Wing Spot

This was my third visit. I chose the original chicken sandwich. It was very good. Big portion. My second visit I ordered the spicy chicken sandwich. It was amazing. It has quite the kick, but so much yummy flavor. My first visit I ordered wings. I ordered mango habanero, Korean BBQ, and garlic Parmesan. All were excellent flavors. The wings were cooked perfectly and not rubbery. The service at this restaurant is top notch and they are clean!!!
The Rustic Table Asian Kitchen
2527 Victor Ave, Redding, CA 96002, United States
Service and atmosphere:Nice attitude, and polite, but need lots of work to improve customer service and customer experience satisfaction. Our waitress welcomed and escorted us to the upstairs dining area because first level had about only 5 tables and they were full. We were seated upstairs and provided with the menus. Its customary to offer or ask if guests would like cups of water? before leaving the guest. We did not get any water, which at first was not a great deal, but the top level is extremely warm (almost 75-80 degrees) and it took a while for the waitress to get to us and we were getting dehydrated pretty quickly. The waitress finally came to take our orders and we asked for drinks and water, and we placed our orders. Thank goodness the drinks arrived but sadly no water.Food and drinks: drinks were 7/10 because my Arnold Palmer had week flavors. The matcha drink was super good and had nice flavor. Our food took awhile to arrive. Food was 6.5/10. The staff member who brought our food upstairs, he fell down the top steps and the food spilled. We were very worried for his safety because it was pretty hard hit. I hope he is okay and did not get in any trouble for this. Which brings a safety code issue.Due to the incident, our order was delayed a bit more. Then the food arrived. First, the presentation of the food and the plating was good. One of our plates was missing so we had to ask for it. Second, when it arrived, it was cold and over cooked. Finally, my dish had exactly 4 small shrimps, which is not servings size. The spring rolls were absolute basic and no flavor. They had only lettuce rice noodles and half of shrimps. No basil or mint, no green onions or mung beans sprouts, no cucumbers and the sauce was very disappointing. There is a lot to improve on, and I hope this help the restaurant management team to work on implementing and getting better food and customer service to flourish in this area.Again, its customary to bring the side table condiments, which we did not get at all neither asked if we would like to have some. Keep in mind, we were upstairs, so it was very difficult to flag any of the staff to ask for anything. We had 2 drinks, small soup, spring rolls, and rice dish. All came to a total of $67 and some cents. In my opinion it was too pricey for the quality, quantity and experience.Note: we asked one of the staff members to turn the AC, but it was not working. Eventually, he just left. So my husband got up and turn the large corner fan which was only one direction.
Woodys Brewing Co.
1257 Oregon St, Redding, CA 96001, United States
Appetizer and beer as always was delicious, however service was awful. Got there at 5:50 and ordered beer and appetizers. Beers were dry a loooong time and finally had to go to the bar to get a refill and order our dinner. 50 minutes in my 2nd beer and appetizers finally showed up. Tables around us had to go to the bar to get their checks. The reason given was a new cook and a large table in back. After 90 minutes I went to the bar to check on our dinner order after seeing two tables and a few bar patrons that were seated 30-40 minutes after us receiving their dinners. I was greeted by a tall blonde waitress who claimed her name was Jessica, I asked if our orders had been lost. She said no that the kitchen was backed up. I pointed out the the tables that came in after us that had gotten their food and she claimed they ordered before us. I told her no they didnt that I watched them get seated well after wed arrived and ordered. At this point Jessica became very rude and asked if Id like to do her job. Having worked in food service in college from kitchen to floor I understand a busy restaurant and a new cook but not the level of rudeness and outright lying I received from Jessica. I have been going to Woodys relatively regularly since they opened and always enjoyed myself and most likely wouldve returned had it not been for the rude unprofessional treatment from Jessica. I canceled our order and left. Youve lost a customer. In response to the owner, I fully understand staffing issues. I worked food service through college as did my sister and a daughter. I generally am very understanding and tip very well as I understand how difficult the job can be. However as I stated that does not excuse the rudeness I experienced. A well trained server that is suited for the vocation would never treat a customer that way. We had a toddler with us that didn't understand why it took almost an hour to get her food(I had to flag down a server and ask for crackers or anything for her to nibble on until her food came) when another 45 minutes passed after her food came she was again miserable from being strapped in a seat for an hour and a half. When I approached Jessica and pointed out that 5 groups (2tables and 3 at the bar) that came in well after us had received food (I was sitting at the windows right next to the door) the proper answer would've been “I'm sorry let me check on that”. Instead she incorrectly tried to say they ordered first and when I told her she was incorrect she became hateful. Like I said, I've been a customer since you opened but if you don't train your staff to handle the stress any better than that I wish you luck keeping your doors open.
