K-BBQ Simi Valley
2381 Tapo St, Simi Valley, CA 93063, United States
DO NOT COME HERE! Worst KBBQ experience I've ever had! If I could give negative stars, I would. We came here with some family who were visiting for the weekend and they wanted to try a new spot for KBBQ, our party having a total of 4 people plus a breastfeeding baby. We've exhausted all other Simi locations at this point and heard about this place so we wanted to check them out. We saw that the place closed at 10, so we got there around 8 pm and off the bat, they made us wait more than 15 minutes! If the place were full, that's understandable, but there were only a couple tables here and there that were taken, most of the place was empty! I do want to say that it looked like there only a single waitress working at the time, so we decided to cut her some slack and said nothing. One waitress and one male cashier on the floor can understandably be hard, so we get it.Once we were seated, we placed our first order and waited a loooonnggg time for the 3 meats to finally arrive. Realizing that it'd take a while for meat to arrive, we wanted to put in our next order to offset the wait, but the waitress told us that we had to finish the current order before placing another order in. We decided to not say anything about it again since we figured that maybe this place had a special rule or something. On top of that, the portion sizes were so small. One serving of pork belly was a single slice and the bulgogi servings were all slivers of meat, as if they were the last pieces of the pot, but each time they were thin, raggard pieces. With each round, we ended up finishing the meat with everyone still hungry for more and awkwardly waiting for the waitress to bring more meat because we couldn't put in the order until all the meat had been eaten off the table. This left time between the rounds, making it seem that the place was purposefully and strategically spacing out the orders so they'd earn the customer's money without actually serving meat and providing the service that an all you can eat promises. In addition, we saw the waitress constantly kissing up to other tables with customers of Caucasian background. She would persistently check up on these said tables and just passed by ours even when we waved for her attention a couple times. While we were frustrated, we stayed polite and would say ‘excuse me' and ‘thank you' when interacting with her.At exactly 9:06 pm, we were told that we had to put in our last round (3 orders of meat) because they were preparing to close. This was crazy to us because the place closed at 10, yet they flipped their open sign off and stopped orders at 9:06 pm! That's almost a whole hour before the advertised closing time when I know other KBBQ places often stop orders around 20-30 minutes before their closing. This alone baffled us all at the table. Finally, at the end of the night, when we were about to pay, we initially didn't want to give any tip since all of us were left hungry and the service was horrible, but since one of our visiting family members worked in the fast food industry in the past and felt like they could relate to the waitress in some aspects, she offered to leave tip, so we stopped her and left 15% tip. When the male cashier came back with our tip thinking it was change, he gave off a feeling of sadness, perhaps knowing that the service was bad, but since we were already committed to giving the tip, we told him it was the tip. IMMEDIATELY, their faces contorted to ones of pure joy and smugness. It left us with a bad taste in our mouths and even the family member who worked in fast food said that she regretted that we left tip given the their reaction. For an all you can eat, this was the worst place I've ever gone to and I cannot stress enough how much no one should come eat here if you value your money and want to leave feeling full! These people do not deserve your money and any other KBBQ place is better than here. Will not be coming here ever again and will actively warn others away from this place!

Dake Sushi

Overall, I guess this place is okay. One thing that stands out is the service. They are definitely great at coming by and checking up on you, and bringing out your ordered food pretty quickly.Plenty of parking, thats for sure. Dont worry about that. And its free! The food, value, etc: Its good, but a few things on the menu can use improvement. For instance, the menu heading says no rice on an item, but 1 of the items in that section is basically a fried rice loaf with sushi on top. Lol.There was a crab thing in this section that has WAY too much mayo in it. Good thing we got this item last, because if I would have gotten it first, I probably would have thrown up mid meal. The all you can eat special they have is worth it. The way the upgraded Sashimi section works is that there is a specific portion of the menu that can only be ordered if you pay the upgrade fee. At the time of writing this review, September 2022, the upgraded so she need price was $45 on the all-you-can-eat menu. The lunch or dinner AYCE is worth the price. Its hard finding good ones these days where you get quality, the quantity, and also value for what youre paying. One good thing I will say about the all you can eat sushi portion sizes that they usually come in four pieces. Not the usual eight like a full roll at other places. I like this because you can order one round, and if you like it order another. But if you dont like it, you can just finish whatevers left (3 pieces), not have to deal with finishing an entire 8 piece roll. You get 3 rounds of ordering.

I went back this week and realized this place is a rare gem out here in Simi Valley. The servers are excellent and the diversity in fresh sushi is amazing. I tried kumamoto oysters for the 1st time here. I dare you to find them at another sushi place close by. Or even a steak house. On special are fishes that many high end pricey, and frankly over touted due to celebrity influence do not even offer. Not everything is perfect. A few dishes are at the pedestrian level, but the fun is trying them out and finding the absolutely amazing dishes lurking on the menu. Their Monk Fish pate salad is amazing. Especially when served warmed. Ive had fishes there Ive not seen offered anywhere else. Im almost scared to say how much I like them for fear of not being able to get a table again, but they really should be experienced just once.

Urban Taco
1390 Madera Rd SUITE P2, Simi Valley, CA 93065, United States
Edited Review: The taco fillings that were so awful the last time I reviewed have improved to what they used to be but on this visit we decided to just order one taco each to make sure. We asked for one hot sauce each for our tacos. Small little containers, just barely enough salsa for one taco. When I saw the taco filling was the same as we had previously loved, I went back and ordered 2 more. And asked for another small container of hot sauce for each taco. And was refused. I said I would pay for it. And was refused. I was told I can only have one hot sauce. No matter how many tacos I order! So I didnt purchase 2 more tacos. A taco place that wont let you have hot sauce for your tacos? Are you friggin kidding me!!? I talked to someone in charge after finishing eating my 1st taco & she told me you can only have one hot sauce with a small order. (4 tacos is apparently considered a small order!) But I could buy an extra hot sauce. Didnt bother to ask how much. We wont be back. If I have to beg for a meager amount of salsa at a taco shop, these people need to be in a different business. There are better taco places than this where the salsa is free. Also taking off a star from my last review where I gave 3 stars, since I wasted my time coming over here.OLDER REVIEW: If I had reviewed this place a week ago I would have given 5 stars. But... they have this taco, San Antonio Fluffy taco. Amazing, like something Id make at home. Plain ground beef, with maybe just a hint of seasoning, a little lettuce, a little grated cheese, with the Fluffy part being the way they crisp up the tortilla (it actually IS fluffy). Anyway, these things are so good, we figured we found a new go-to restaurant. So good that we actually drive from Camarillo to Simi to get them. Well, so much for that. Today when we had these tacos they came with meat slushed up with sauce & spice to the point it looked like chilie & tasted like Taco Bell. What a disappointment! We asked if they changed the recipe & were told by the cooks that the meat is made up by their sister restaurant next door, the Blue Fin, & they made a mistake. Which got me thinking, how do you make a mistake like that when its a recipe you invented? And is the taco shop just an afterthought to the main restaurant? The Blue Fin itself has some reviews pointing out its inconsistency in terms of food quality so maybe its just their pattern. Weve only been going here about a month so maybe we just caught them on an upswing. We went 3 or 4 times & had these amazing tacos & on a big screen tv there were relaxing nature scenes. Today we had fluffy Taco Bell & a political news channel on the big screen tv. Inconsistency is how you lose customers. And if it keeps up, you will most certainly have lost us.

Sapporo Sushi & Izakaya & Ramen
2845 Cochran St Suite F, Simi Valley, CA 93065, United States
It is a NEGATIVE REVIEW but I do have to mention the FOOD is GOOD however the HOSPITALITY is NOT... We go to this place a couple times a week as the food is great, however the service from one of the female waitress is not. We usually order 2 different sushi rolls, chicken teriyaki with a side of rice and 2 orders of ramen. At first we would tip after the 3rd time I decided not to as the waitress is always rushing us.Yesterday 6/27/24 we went in for dinner and once again order the usual not once did she approach us to ask if we needed anything, even when asking for to go plates the lady dropped them off to the table next to us i believe table #7 and that party gave it to us. We were given our check, we paid as we exit. WHEN WE STEPPED OUTSIDE THIS CASHIER/WAITRESS FLAGGED YS OUTSIDE AND ASKED WHY WE HAVE NOT TIPPED THE LAST COUPLE TIMES. Im sorry but I work for my money and will not give it to people who dont deserve it. When she asked I asked her IS IT MANDATORY her response NO, BUT I TAKE YOUR FOOD TO THE TABLE AND WORK IN HOSPITALITYIm sorry but after tipping the first couple times and not being properly taken cared of nor ever being asked if we need anything, instead we have to flag her every time because she is always rushing and when she takes the order not only is she rushing us if we ask for anything either she doesnt bring it or takes forever and has some sort of attitude, so yes I refuse to tip.But for her to have the audacity to ask why she didnt she get a tip is crazy, Once again IT IS NOT MANDATORY, I go to work and dont expect to be compensated for doing my job, A job I choose to attend to everyday, never would I ever ask someone for handouts.THE FOOD IS GREAT but her attitude and approach is not acceptable.

I really wanted to love this place. And really, there is a lot to like. The food is freshly prepared and presented beautifully. The issue I had was much of it tastes the same, using the same fish-style table sauce and similar meat marinades in many different dishes. Many of these dishes are served on a base of either vermicelli or rice. The spring rolls are basically the same vegetable components of the dinner item is wrapped up in a soft spring roll. Now I didnt try the pho which appears to be very popular. And as we left I saw a couple of diners eating what looked to be a large fried half chicken or whole chicken which look very appealing, but I didnt see it on the menu. The appetizer wings were good, wish the portion was bigger. That said, the prices were reasonable overall. Theyre just wasnt enough to make me want to return.

Sharkys Woodfired Mexican Grill
2410 Sycamore Dr, Simi Valley, CA 93065, United States
I ordered online and came in to pick -up order, Johanna was very rude. I came up to her to give her my name and she reacted as if she was very annoyed for me coming up to her. I noticed that there was a line for ordering at counter and pick up table but there was a group of people that where I was supposed to stand so to practice social distancing I went to the other side of the person in front of me.Johanna told me that I had to be in that line and she rudely said she will be right me, I told her I was next and she sarcastically said “mmhmm really?”Had her for salsa and she threw them angrily in the bag.I'm very upset with this experience. Who wants to spend almost $40 on two meals and get such bad service.I think people in service industry should keep in mind that customers come and choose a restaurant that spend their hard earned money at and expect to get treated at least a little nicely.Order was also packed very poorly and was missing napkins and plastic ware.Didn't even want to check before I left because I wanted to just leave because how bad the experience was.

Omega Sushi
5830 E Los Angeles Ave, Simi Valley, CA 93063, United States
A few years back I ate at Omega Sushi a few times. There was so much rice that the sushi and rolls were almost tasteless. The last time I ate there (until recently), they had just made the rice. So, warm rice with cold fish. It was disgusting. The sushi chef was nice, and apologized for not only the warmth of the rice but for the amount of rice. Apparently the owner dictates that customers are to get a lot of rice until they become regular customers. Thats when I decided I was in the wrong place. Why am I giving money to an owner with this type of business model? Its your job to earn my repeat business, not the other way around. My favorite sushi place recently changed ownership and relocated. Omega is nearby, and it had been years since I went there, so I decided to try it again. It looked like all of the staff had changed, including the sushi chefs, so I thought maybe things (including the ownership) had changed. Nope. I walked out of there again having hardly ate anything and feeling sick to my stomach because of the all rice. Thick stacks of rice under all the sushi. The rolls had a thick layer of rice all the way around (including a double stack on the bottom), in addition to a thick ball on the ends (never seen that before). In my opinion, the chefs, and their sushi and rolls, gave me the impression that they had learned their craft while watching youtube. Never again will I make the mistake of going here. I just need to remember one word, disgusting.
