Chicken Pho You
292 Broadway, Millbrae, CA 94030, United States
The service is very poor. I don’t know what the customer ordered and I still ask questions... It’s strange that I can’t understand English and Mandarin, let alone the service.. I didn’t take away the teacup after finishing the meal... You should know what to do. ? Unofficial Vietnamese rice noodle shop....

Noodleosophy Millbrae
102 S El Camino Real, Millbrae, CA 94030, United States
Excellent taste, yummy food but disappointed for the portion size and value. Would order two to get my fill in but price is a bit hefty so might have to leave this place to special indulging. Takeout portion is embarrassing. Sat down for like 25 minutes waiting for our drinks on another visit because I recommended the spot to my brother and saw the bowls which looked great and smelled authentic. They really include the default dine in service fee as part of the bowl price so takeout eaters get jipped. Oh and yeah, the service fee is a 15% service charge for dining in but they do have a disclaimer to not tip as a result (though its not very obvious). They still have a tip jar.Noodleosophy is one of three restaurants in Social Eatery, right off the Millbrae station. Stopped by on the way home because I was trying a new route, wanted to snag boba and food before and well, this location was two in one. Very convenient. Theres a sign on the outside to scan a QR to order but my phone didnt like the QR so I ended up opting for takeout. You order takeout on the inside tablet whereas you order dine in online through the QR. Doesnt seem like they take in person orders which can be a hassle when you want to ask questions or scanning doesnt work. For noodles, you can pick the type of noodle, whether or not you want dry or soup noodles, and a spicy level. I ordered Dry Beef Stew with Biang Biang Noodles with mild spiciness. They really need to notify you when your order is ready - they just put my order on the shelf and expected me to come in to ask, though I was waiting for over half an hour. By the time I commuted back home, my food was room temperature but still tasty.Dry Beef Stew with Biang Biang Noodles - for starters, the beef is delicious. Tender and flavorful. Noodles were excellent as well, but in my situation my order was probably ready for a while so the noodles got clumped together at the bottom. Wouldve had a better experience if they were separated, either dine in or more fresh. Soup mightve helped too so would have to try that over the dry. If you want dry noodles, I recommend dining in or eating ASAP. Biggest complain is that the portion is fairly small for the price.

Deans Produce
451 Broadway, Millbrae, CA 94030, United States
I stopped buying fruits and veggies at my local supermarket and come to Deans for my produce now. The selection and quality at Deans is just superb. The fruit especially; the taste and the sweetness of the fruit at Deans is just superior to the fruit you get at Safeway, Luckys, Trader Joes and the other markets in the area. Last time I was here, I was able to get a selection of 6 different types of pears (yes I am pears obsessed). Not just your Bartlett or Bosc, but a red anjou, a comice and a Concorde pear! Yikes, that sounded nerdy. But nevermind, the fruit is worth the extra time and effort to come by.

Tasty Place
1625 El Camino Real, Millbrae, CA 94030, United States
Small little shop with good dumplings. My fav is the pan fried pork and corn dumpling. The noodles here are handmade. I have tried their tomato and egg noodle and their Ja Jiang noodle. The tomato and egg was not what I am use to. The flavor was a bit off but not bad. The Ja Jiang noodles were severely lacking sauce so it was very bland. I have not been impressed with their noodles so far but will come back for their dumplings. They do have other dishes like mongolian beef and such that I may try next time.

New China Foods Millbrae

Although this shop is not very conspicuous, the noodles are really delicious. I have been to all the noodle shops in the Bay Area! I have never tasted such authentic steamed noodles! There are also Roujiamo! Crispy and delicious!

wonderful

I am surprise a restaurant owner can curse a customer. I only do research with popular restaurants, then visit them and tell the truth. The restaurants are from New York to Hawaii. No matter of their price. The minute I look at their menu the first thing I notice the price has been doubled. Most of them are $10 added to the actual Chinese restaurant price. So why is their price considered expensive from my experience with so many restaurants? Please continue to read. That is fine, but is the food worthier or close to the price? It turns out, it is the worst Chinese food I have visited. Even the beef is cheaply and hard to bite. For their price you should expect they use USDA Graded Beef instead they use the cheapest ever. Even if they use worst beef they dont know they can use simple Chinese way by marinate the beef with baking solder to soften the fibers. The beef is not sliced but partly diced. That seems to be making it quick and easy. From my understand, they are not real Chinese chief like what I know.We also ordered a seafood, fish dish. Price doesnt matter to us, but it seems to matter to them because the fish not even cod fish. The fishes are not chief ready, but frozen ready. The cheap fishes are simple that mainly do not require much spices. The dish is full of oil and juices. If you notice, most of their dishes are diced vegetables and meat because that way is quick and easy. The last one is hand made noodles. It is not bad because it is a bit chewy. But comparing to Indonesian (Asia) and Korean and Taiwanese restaurants in San Jose, their texture and chewy has to better.Seriously, what I feel is none of their products for cooking are purchased at open markets but cheapest supermarkets. Also, all raw and live sea products are not purchased from a real fish market. We 2 people order 3 suggested dishes (price doesnt matter) but upset our stomach! Instead, we go to another restaurant later on.By the way, my star is for their great Declaration. I wouldnt take pictures of the dishes I ordered. Well, I did ask for doggy bags may others for extenstense my review. so the restaurant look beautiful and have many awards, but understand this restaurant it makes me understand its coking does not worth my appetite.

Lai Lai Restaurant
334 Broadway, Millbrae, CA 94030, United States
I didnt make a reservation for dinner on Valentines, we said we werent going to go out.The she wanted to go out.We were aiming for an Italian place nearby, but they were too crowded, so we walked around a bit and settled on Lai Lai.Overall, it was good. A bit pricier than I would have liked, but thats how it can go when you hit up a family-style dining experience with a party of two.Im no connoisseur of Chinese food, but Ive had some thats been really good and some thats been really, REALLY bad and Id say this place was pretty middle-of-the-road, more on the good side. The food was fine, the portions were very generous.I really liked the service. They provided free tea at the table. When the server brought the food, he also plated it, which surprised me and I thought it was a clever touch to make the experience feel more upscale. He also boxed our leftovers at the table for us. While he was doing so, he mused that we hadnt eaten very much, considered for a good minute, and then said perhaps you ate too much soup and I about died. I think it was one of the funniest and most fatherly things a server has ever said to me - and completely accurate. We did overindulge on the soup and on the tea, as well.I also liked their collection of model planes in back by the kitchen.Fortune cookies were provided with the bill, which came out very quickly after we asked for it. Speed of service overall was good.Restrooms were unacceptable and I was really surprised, given the level of service we had enjoyed during dinner. Womens restroom had a loud fan and was partly being used as storage. The stalls looked like they had been pieced together with panels that had originally been intended for some other use. Im 57 and the stalls ran from about my mid-calf to maybe 6 above my shoulder. It was possible for me to see into the other stall while standing, which was obviously very uncomfortable. Lock was broken on one of the stalls. It was so bad, I took a peek into the mens after, just to see if they were being presented with the same experience. (They were.)

Peters Cafe
10 El Camino Real, Millbrae, CA 94030, United States
Getting here is a bit of a trick if youre approaching from the north; you cant U-turn at Millbrae, nor is there a great place to turn around after making the left. Theyve been working on building a BART station there for forever, too, so that situation is probably going to worsen. Well try using Maps to find a good route in on our next visit. The staff were super nice and the food was pretty good. There are a few interesting items on the menu. I had the tuna melt and the wife had chicken fried steak, which came with a side of pancakes. The portion sizes were quite generous and we went home with leftovers.Overall cleanliness seemed a bit low to me. There was the usual assortment of knick-knack decor I associate with diners, but there also seemed to be a bit of clutter about, almost like they were rearranging the space? The dining area was fine and the table was clean, but the restroom left something to be desired and is in need of repair. Floral arrangements around the perimeter of the dining area were an interesting choice. We appreciated the Christmas tree.We were a bit confused that there appeared to be a closed bar. This place closes at 3 PM - maybe they had longer hours pre-COVID?Cost was average. Well be going back and getting a better feel for the place, try some more items on their menu.

Zhen Wei Guan
121 El Camino Real, Millbrae, CA 94030, United States
The restaurant offers reasonably priced lunch specials.Unfortunately, there were two problems with the visit. One, although they already opened the door to customers, they were still vacuuming the restaurant, even after I have sat in my seat for well over 5 minutes (I did ask if it was ok for me to sit). The noise was loud and naturally air quality wasnt good since they used industrial grade vacuum. This was extremely disappointing. Even worse, they didnt realize I was ready to order despite attempts to do so after some of th staff finished vacuuming. This was simply not good service. Then, I was hoping that, since the restaurant staff all spoke Cantonese, at least the food should be good. This expectation arises from stories I have been told, where the general consensus is that the Cantonese speaking Chinese really know cooking well. I cant be certain of whether these stories are true, but I was truly disappointed in the food as well.I ordered sweet and sour fish over rice. It looked pretty good but it was not sweet but excessively acidic. If it werent for the amount of rice which was given, I dont think I would have been able to eat the fish. Therefore, I cant recommend the restaurant for service or taste. However, the amount given was ample for around $12 (with tips included) for a restaurant, especially considering that it is in the City of Millbrae.I therefore would recommend it if you want something reasonably affordable, without expecting good service or taste.

9 Noodle House

GREAT NOODLE SHOP IN MILBRAE1/6/2023 - In this small restaurant I have found a great tasting authentic Chinese Noodle Soup with the Char Xiu Pork. The soup was light, great tasting and not salty. The egg noodles were particularly chewy. I loved this. The authentic touch came from the char xiu pork. It was not the familiar kind (sort of sweet and red colored) that we can find in most Chinese restaurants especially in SF on Clement or Irving streets. The char xiu pork served here tasted not as strong but as good and it did complement the soup very nicely. The portion was good. The price was average. The service was timely. This small Noodle House deserves my 5 stars for the over all pleasant meal. I got to enjoy a very good noodle soup and in the meantime lend my support for our local small businesses in Milbrae.??
