New Thai Bistro
4301 D, Valley Ave, Pleasanton, CA 94566, United States
Food is really great and prepared, served, and managed by a very friendly staff. The staff is easily overwhelmed during busy times, which could translate into long waits: waiting to get seated, waiting to place an order, waiting for the food to arrive.Depending on your sensitivity to these frequent delays (and how hungry you happen to be while youre waiting!) this reality is either worth the wait or annoyingly unbearable. Weve seen tables just take another sip of their drinks and power through while others angrily storm off, one-star Yelp ratings and scathing Local Guides reviews likely already queued up on their phones. The Bangkok Dumplings are a tasty appetizer and the Mango Seven is a refreshing non-alcoholic beverage which is, methinks, 7-Up + fresh mango chunks + mint. You cant go wrong with any of the noodle dishes--perennial Thai favorites like Pad Thai or Lad See Ew are just-right portioned and lick-your-plate enjoyable. The storefront can be a little hard to see as you turn off Valley Ave, but just look for the larger Perrys Liquors light-up sign, a long time landmark in this otherwise time-worn strip mall complex, and is easier to see when pulling into the parking lot.As of this writing New Thai Bistro closes at 9pm each night, including weekends, so plan (or dont plan) accordingly.
Fiery Shanghai
2717 Stoneridge Dr #103, Pleasanton, CA 94588, United States
We were in town for some shopping and stopped by afterwards. The restaurant was busy and we didn't have to wait long at all to be seated. We were promptly asked if we wanted tea or something to drink and given menus. I don't speak mandarin and the owner was able to communicate with us in English and some Cantonese. There are a few Shanghaiese dishes we are familiar with and have had elsewhere so we wanted to compare: the Shanghaiese flat noodles (“Leen Go”), the hot and sour soup, the dumplings in chili oil, and the beef meatballs (Sze Tze Tau), and the red bean dessert (almost like a flatbread). The food was good and came out in 5-10 minutes (soup, noodles, beef, dumplings, dessert). Certain dishes like the dumplings were a bit salty (not uncommon with northern cuisine), but the food was flavorful. I don't think the one star reviews are legit and they are a bit off base and harsh. The restaurant was clean, the food was good, the price was a bit pricey but not out of range for Bay Area pricing that I've had at other Asian restaurants. Our 5 course meal for two came to $65.There was selection here that isn't available elsewhere. Not a single reason for a one star review. Contrary to another review the food isn't Americanized; the restaurant was full of Asian people (I have yet to go to a Chinese restaurant that is Americanized that has a full house of Asian customers; thats like finding a Chinese Unicorn). This is worth a try people so that you can make a decision for yourself.

Very very cool spot. The guys working treated us awesome and were very patient as I wanted to take my time going through their menu. I asked a couple hard questions for them just because I love Boba/Bubble Tea and have had it all around the world. Having said all that, this place is legit! Im always concerned getting tapioca pearls at these places because they can get old and not changed regularly...well not here. They were so fresh and delicious. Very easy to tell these guys put passion and care into their product. Id say this place is a must! Highly recommend.

One of my new fav thai spots in the area! yay!!Alright, lets get down to business.Parking: street, or theres a small lot in the plaza behind.Inside: really cute, but very small, so tables are limited. They have a couple small tables outside as well. I see a lot of to go orders so we know the food is good!!The taste buds want:Fried Chicken Pad Thai, ok I never knew I needed this in my life. It is sooo good and sooo fresh! highly recommend.Roti appetizer: honestly for the money I think its REALLLY small. Very greasy too, curry dip is good. The flavors are good but you get more of your moneys worth with other itemsKhao Sao: Overall flavors are good, noodles cooked correctly. My only wish was that the beef was a little more tender.Orange Wheat beer: light and refreshing. Hints of orange come in the aftertaste.Pineapple fried rice: the wok seasoning you can taste that perfect smokiness. Definitely a fav for mePad Kee Mao: Also another great dish, noodles always cooked correctly.I really should stop writing reviews around lunch, always makes me so hungry!!

For someone who has lived in Kunming, the food here is more delicious than in Kunming. The Cross Bridge Rice Noodles are great. The service is also good. Parking is also convenient. It’s a good place to rest here while shopping at outlets.
Curry Leaves Bistro
6003 W Las Positas Blvd, Pleasanton, CA 94588, United States
A Penang style Malaysian restaurant. They provide standard menu and daily specials. I have only been here once so I cannot give complete judgement. I did order three items hok kein mee, mee goreng and nasi lemak with chicken randang. The mee goreng was the best dish out of all them .the hok kein mee was ok. I would give it 3/5. The mee goreng 3.5/5. The chicken randang with the rice and sambal would give a 3.5/5. I feel the chicken randang the gravy could have been reduced more give it a thicker base. Flavor wise it was on the milder side when it comes to aromatics. Put more dishes and aromatics in the base. The owners are very sweet and kind. I did feel like I was in a street side restaurant in Malaysia when I walked in. I think this place needs to be a bit more bold in terms of flavor. The recipes are authentic but they can amplify the same flavors more with a bit more aromatics and herbs. For example the mee goreng use garlic chives instead of spring onions. Garlic chives are more traditional. Satay was not on the menu. I think that should be standard in any Malaysian restaurant as a starter. I think as a weekly special introduce some malaysian fish beef curry or ikkan bakar or crab pepper. I know the owners are Malaysian and they can definitely be a bit more adventurous and bring their soul into their food and set a unique brand for themselves. There was nothing on the menu that stood out to me from other Malaysian restaurants in the bay area. That is why I ask you to use local California sea food and introduce Malaysian style sea food dishes. This place has potential to do much better and I think they can with a bit of risk.

I love shopping here for my vegetables and Indian groceries. I don't cook a lot of Indian food but whenever I'm in the mood, I always find what I need here. The owner is very friendly and helpful. I've found the quality of the vegetables are fresh and food and very reasonably priced! I'm shocked at how much Safeway charges for the same produce and it's not even as fresh at Safeway. This is a great little store where you will find what you need and if not, ask the owner. He is always helpful in getting to know what he can bring in.

Gay Nineties Pizza Co
288 Main St, Pleasanton, CA 94566, United States
Ive been coming here for over 30 years. Still, the best pizzas in the tri-valley area (with Zacharys/San Ramon) being a close 2nd. Gave 4-stars this visit because our pizza toppings were a bit cheap (zucchini and canadian bacon) and they werent cooked enough (they were cool to the touch/taste). The pizza itself was a bit underdone too. Disappointing but still tasty anyway. We got there just before the (Alameda Cty.) fair-crowd. So, there was a line out the door when we left. Good timing on our part. One other thing. We ordered a mushroom saute for an app. It arrived after the pizza (?). I saw it sitting on the food counter for about 10-minutes before it came over . I complained to my waitress, so she (very nice of her and the right thing to do), didnt charge for the app. She said the kitchen was backed up (but the place wasnt very full at the time and I saw the app sitting on the outgoing food counter). So, she lied about what happened to it. Not that important, since she compd us that dish anyway.Edit, two years later. Took my GF to Gay-90s, as she used to live in Pleasanton about 10-yrs. ago and loved their pizza. The pizza, as usual, was stellar (we had a 3-topping small pizza). Toppings were generous and tasty but it did take 60 minutes from the initial order (they werent that busy with dine in customers but maybe take-out was busy? We were sitting outside and could not see take out orders). We also ordered garlic-bread (which used to be free). Well, now, its $4.95 per order. This tasted neither garlicky, nor tasty. It was (basically) a toasted/dry 1/2 loaf of cut sourdough bread. But it had absolutely NO taste. Very disappointed. Never complained to the waiter because I was on a date. Usually, the garlic bread has plenty of garlic and not dry (it used to have both a butter and/or olive oil finish in/on the bread w/lots of garlic). This had neither. I will never order that again (especially, for 5 bucks). I deducted a star for both the garlic/non-garlic bread and the exceptionally long wait (60-minutes is unacceptable - especially since dine in wasnt full).Revisited here [2/2024] with GF and just had the pizza, which was stellar, again. Still the best pizza in the Tri-Valley. We did lunch this time and ordered a half and half small pizza, which came out quickly and tasted excellent. In the past, I/we have ordered a starter/app and didnt have room for the pizza, so, this time we just ordered the pizza and we both ate it all. Gave it and the service 4-stars [would have given 4.5 stars]. Our waitress was good but seemed distracted, hence, the 4-stars instead of 5. Interestingly enough, Zacharys is now across the street [moved from San Ramon]. So now, theres a bit more competition for G-90s. I still prefer G-90s over Zacharys but they are getting closer [almost a tie for pies].
Ramen 101
444 Main St, Pleasanton, CA 94566, United States
Went here for lunch on Friday. The restaurant is on the main street of Pleasanton so there are ample parking lot around. I ordered my food at the cashier and chose my own seating. The place was pretty empty (only 2 tables were occupied) when I got there.I ordered black garlic ramen (non spicy) and chicken karaage appetizer. The food came out pretty fast (5 minutes). First the chicken karaage: generous portion for its price but the chicken pieces were way too crunchy and the meat was a bit tough. These were more like taiwanese popcorn chicken than Japanese chicken karaage that has bigger pieces. It taste pretty good (it was seasoned well - not too salty) and came with spicy mayo.Next was the black garlic ramen. I was super disappointed with the flavor. This was not authentic Japanese ramen. The broth tasted watered down and was lack of umami flavor. The pork belly pieces were tough and super fatty. They put black garlic cloves which was good but the broth itself lacked the aroma of black garlic. My problem was that I got stomachache from eating the ramen. My kid had the karaage with the noodle (no broth) and he was fine. I gave two stars for the taste of chicken karaage & the friendly service. However, I wont be back here again.
