Sala Thai Restaurant
3241 Walnut Ave, Fremont, CA 94538, United States
Overall: 4.4/5Came here for Sunday lunch right when they opened at noon so we got seated right away for a party of 7. They have QR codes on the table for you to order online if you want but also provided menus in case you want to order with the waitresses. The menu is pretty extensive but since we were a big group, we ordered all different items to share family style. The place started to get crowded by the time we put in our order online and there was a line by the time we left.Roti Canai ($6.95): The roti was flat, flakey, & tasted like a green onion pancake without the green onion. It came with a curry sauce that wasnt too strong since it had a more watery consistency than regular curry. It was good but not worth it. The portion is small too.Golden Tofu ($7.95): The tofu looks pretty normal but the way they fry it kept the tofu soft inside. But the best part of the dish was actually the peanut sauce. It was delicious so you just have to get the tofu coated in it.Crab Fried Rice ($18.95): This fried rice is so good in multiple ways. The first is by itself. The seasoning is light but theres enough taste from the ingredients like the crab and oil that it gives the fried rice just enough flavor. The second way we ate the rice was with the crispy fish and its sauce. The third way was with the duck curry. Both the 2nd and 3rd way give you a depth of umami that just complements the fried rice.Crispy Fish With Sweet Garlic Sauce ($17.95): This is their special dish and a must have! We got two orders for the table since they give huge pieces of fish but small quantity. The fish is really crispy - fried to perfection. The sauce is also amazing. You have to drizzle it on the fish and the fried rice *chefs kissDuck Curry ($16.95): Im really bummed that Thai restaurants dont give rice with curry dishes anymore. We ate this with the crab fried rice instead. The duck was very tender and the curry was packed full of flavors. I didnt think it was salty but my family thought it was a bit. I do think the prices for Thai curry is pretty steep for the small portion size though.Pad Thai With Chicken ($14.95): This is good if you eat it before the crispy fish and duck curry because those dishes are really umami so it will change your palette taste for the pad thai afterwards. The pad Thai is not a specialty here and we had better at other Thai restaurants so you can skip this item.Basil Chicken Entree ($14.95): My brother got this since hes on a strict diet but it was not good. The chicken was kinda bland at the beginning since it hasnt had time to soak up the sauce but after 20 minutes, the chicken was very salty. The bell pepper was a bit undercooked too. Hard pass.

My Lunch Spot
667 S Brea Canyon Rd #20A, Walnut, CA 91789, United States
Im a local truck driver, and I happened to take a 30 minute break just down the street from My Lunch Spot. I was hungry and I needed a restroom, so I went to their sandwich shop. The restroom was only for employees, which I totally understand, but when the owner learned that I was a truck driver (and very hungry ?), she was more than happy to let me use their restroom. She was so nice about it, explaining to me that her Mom has some health issues, which is the main reason she limits the people using the facilities. I agreed with her wanting to exercise caution to avoid exposing her Mom, yet she still allowed me to use their facilities. I also ordered a turkey and cranberry sandwich, and it was delicious and fresh. This place is a hidden gem that is run by the nicest people Ive met in my local travels!

25 Degrees Huntington Beach
412 Walnut Ave, Huntington Beach, CA 92648, United States
I am absolutely so upset with this place. This is the second time we have not been treated accordingly by the establishment. On Saturday, March 2nd we had friends come in from Anaheim. They arrived downtown before us so they picked 25°, with what had happened to me last time I would've never went back .But thee were already seated and had ordered a drink so we met them there About 3:45- 4 PM. We all ordered food, . We also split the chili so we could all have a small cup and we ordered an appetizer and half fries half onion rings . At about 6:45 they left and some other friends joined us since there was a small musician/band playing we stayed to listen to the music at about 9 PM 930 I was informed by the bartender that we were cut off, mind you we are almost 50 years old and locals to HB. I wasn't aware of this until I went up to buy the singer a beer that is when the bartender informed me that we were not to be served anymore. I said why ? and he said my manager Noah said that you have been here all day and haven't eaten (I did not see nNoah there during the day when we ate ) I said actually we've been here since four and we ate over $100 worth of just food between four of us which isn't hard to do there. They said you cannot just keep hanging out here drinking without eating. I explained again that we had already eaten. At that point I was so upset. I said we will leave, there was about eight of us at this point, and I said I will happily go give our money to another establishment downtown, any of them could use it. Even the man that was singing confused as we were leaving he said “we will see you all around somewhere soon” thanked us for supporting him, and he shook his head in disbelief. Noah was rude unprofessional, and did not have his facts straight before he decided to cut off that many people. I will not be going back to this place, I would advise anyone in town to choose somewhere else. I honestly can't even remember if ever there has been a time I've been cut off at a bar/restaurant. It was absolutely ridiculous.
Aroma Craft Coffee
20265 East Valley Blvd Ste Q, Walnut, CA 91789, United States
My favorite place to have brunch whenever Im in the area. I love the whole vibe of the cafe/coffee shop and the servers are always so polite and helpful. Its definitely an experience that you dont normally get in coffee shops. Their food and drinks are delicious and very reasonably priced. I wish I lived closer so I could visit every week. You order and pay at the counter and take a seat at any available table either indoors or outdoors. It does get pretty crowded on the weekends pretty fast, so if you want an indoor table, Id suggest coming early. During my second visit, I had ordered a strawberry ice cream cake as my choice of dessert. Halfway through my meal, they realized that they had been out of that but it was not communicated to me when I had paid. They apologized and I was understanding, so I picked the other dessert choice that I had in mind. Maybe it was because we were so understanding and nice about it, or their service is just that superb, but they felt so apologetic that they gave us an additional dessert on the house. It was a very kind gesture of them even though we had reassured them that the little mistake was fine. Its rare to see such great level of service like that these days. If youre looking for a cozy spot to eat brunch or catch up with family and friends, I highly recommend this spot. You wont be disappointed with their food, drinks, and of course, service!|| L O C A T I O N / P A R K I N G ||-Located in a business complex next to We Love Broth-Cross Streets are Valley Blvd and S Lemon Ave.-Plenty of parking throughout the business complex. It does get packed so you may need to park a little further for a spot during peak hours.|| F O O D / D R I N K S ||Mushroom Toast - So darn delicious! Theres a generous amount of sauteed mushrooms on top of the toast. Perfect for mushroom lovers. I got this again for my second visit because I couldnt stop thinking about it!Smoked Salmon Benedict - Reasonably priced compared to other nearby brunch places that serve the same thing. A good amount of smoked salmon per benedict. Simply delicious!Taiwanese Sausage Panini - Who knew Taiwanese sausages in a panini would be a delightful combo? The panini was warm and crisp on the outside. It was very addictive to eat. It makes me want to try the other Taiwanese Sausage entrees the next time. The Aroma Trio - Definitely recommend this if its your first time or youre unsure which dessert to try first. Its a three flavored mousse cake, and one of these flavors is hopefully bound to be one of your faves. I was pleasantly surprised by the pumpkin one. I was glad the pumpkin flavor wasnt overbearing with spices youd find when tasting a pumpkin pie. The coffee flavored cake was good and was my favorite. Not too sweet. The raspberry was good, but a little too sweet (compared to the other two) for my liking.Blueberry Cheesecake - Comes with the blueberry sauce on the side. Its a beautiful slice of cheesecake, and whats even better is that its so delicious and addictive. Luckily, the cheesecake and the sauce arent too sweet. What I find with blueberry desserts is that it may run a little sweet but I was glad to know it wasnt the case here. I can see why its a popular choice!Rose Latte & Lavender Latte - Not too sweet and overbearing with floral flavor. The coffee flavor is somewhat strong for me.*All Drinks come with these homemade crackers with jam (?) Super delicious and a nice addition with your drink.
Firefly Tavern Santa Cruz
110 Walnut Ave, Santa Cruz, CA 95060, United States
Sunday July 16. My husband and I decided to give Firefly a try after a morning of Refrigerator shopping. The good/Great: Ambience is nice. Not too crowded, or too noisy. Really nice background music. We ordered the Chicken and Waffles and shared it. It was SO GOOD. Whatever they used for the batter on the chicken was delightfully crispy. The waffle stayed semi-crisp from start to finish. I highly recommend this but it seems to only be available on the weekends. Were looking forward to coming back to try something else on the menu. Things that could use some improvement: When we arrived at just after 12:30 we were able to be seated almost immediately. Then we waited for 10-15 minutes before we could even get a cup of water. The water was room temp. Slightly chilled would have been better. I love the little glasses it came in :) Once we got our water we waited about another 10-15 minutes or so before the gentlemen came back to take our order at which time we waited another 30 minutes for our meal to arrive. By this time it was pleasantly but not extraordinarily busy. The gentlemen was nice and very apologetic about the delays so we arent going to hold it against him, but we hope service gets better as this nice new place gets a little more into the swing of things. Despite the slow service we really enjoyed our meal and highly recommend you give Firefly a try.
Ramen Ken
358 N Lemon Ave, Walnut, CA 91789, United States
Ramen / dipping ramen spot in the Vons complex of Walnut. It's like having a local Tsujita in the ‘burbs. Credit cards accepted. Parking is easy and available in the large parking lot. Indoor dining and takeout (phone in or online) is available (no outdoor dining option).Came here on a Saturday for dinner around 7. I understand that they were understaffed, so please be patient with the waiter (there was only one for all the tables) when we went, and he seemed a bit flustered. You may need to wait a bit longer for the food to come out as well since everything seemed to be made to order, but I think it was worth the wait for the noodles alone. The noodles that come with the red miso options are super thick and chewy - almost the size of udon noodles, but with more chew. The noodles for the white miso are more like the traditional ramen size. Either way, they all were very chewy and the broth is flavorful. Note that the red miso as it stands isn't spicy, but once you add some more chili powder, it adds a nice tang. The bowls come with one piece of meat, so it's worth getting more meat (3 pieces for $3) on the side.Note that the waiter may ask if you want your check while you're still eating, but it's all good. Currently no alcohol but I believe they're working on getting their liquor license. There is a kids meal and they do have a couple of rice options. Overall, it's still a relatively new restaurant so I know they're working out some kinks, but I would come back for the hefty portions and perfectly cooked noodles.
