5i Indochine Cuisine
5407 Sepulveda Blvd, Culver City, CA 90230, United States
REVISION:We have to agree with those who said that this place has gone downhill. The food is definitely not as good as it was, and the kitchen has no ability to process special orders or get peoples food to come out together. More often than not, my wifes Pho will come out 15 minutes before my main dish -- or something exactly the reverse. How hard is that?I also mention below loving the salt and pepper shrimp, but theyre making it differently now and its more of a breaded shrimp -- that seems to have neither salt, nor pepper! Also, some days we get a decent amount of shrimp, and other times a lot less. Again... consistency problems. Todays Chow Fun was a plate of glop.Sorry about this, as we used to LOVE 5i. If the owner reads this, PLEASE fix this, as we dont want to give up on your restaurant altogether. But were very close to doing so. Changed from 5 stars to 3 stars.- - - - ORIGINAL POST BELOW - - - -Weve been going here at least once a week since it opened. Their food is great, MUCH better than some others in the area.My wife loves their pho, and I cannot do without their salt and pepper shrimp, which is exquisite. They have all different types of Asian cuisine here (mostly Vietnamese and Thai). I also love their Singapore noodles -- which is a vermicelli type noodle with curry, with shrimp and chicken (and vegetables). Not a big, showy place -- just good food.GREAT PLACE! TRY IT!!!

This was the first time that I had eaten Burmese food. The lady working the front counter was very helpful to make sure that I ended up with a fairly authentic meal. I was also pleased to discover a bit of a shopping mart here that included Myanmars local newspaper.I highly recommend the salad made with the pickled tea leaves. It sounds like you have to be adventurous to eat it, but its not spicy or two strangely flavored. It certainly is unique and robust. The fish soup is also unique in its overall flavor. However, be prepared for a little more kick. It has a little bit of a sweet and sour flavor to it as well as the spicy hit of the chile. It comes with some little crispy chips that helped after each bite to reduce the heat.My favorite part of the meal was the Shami Kebabs. My wife felt that it had a flavor similar to samosas from India. I think it had more aromatic flavor to it, probably because it has a lot of beef. The side of slaw that goes with the kabobs is extremely flavorful. In fact, my wife just wants the kebabs with the side slaw the next time I go.Finally, I recommend trying the Falooda. It is a cold drink with hints of strawberry and rose. I have no idea whats really in it, but Im guessing that its yogurt based. It does have little strips of young coconut in the bottom so you have to drink it with a boba straw. My wife felt that it was more of an effective dessert after the meal because she liked the chai with her meal and the Falooda after.Im definitely going to be picking up from here at least once a month until we make our way through the first two pages of the menu.

Moto Ramen
11172 Washington Blvd, Culver City, CA 90232, United States
Stopped here a few weeks ago when my friend wanted to check it out...was feeling the ramen craving! We walked up without a reservation and got onto the list but they were able to get us a table within about 5 minutes! We got the Tedorigawa sake that was recommended by our server to drink, which the bottle was a little smaller than I expected but it tasted dangerously sweet and good...went down smoothly. We started out with ordering the Lotus Kinpira and the Chicken Karaage to share (both pictured). The Lotus Kinpira was so delicious I almost forgot to take a photo (comes with more than pictured) and I would highly recommend as a starter. I had never had the Chicken Karaage before and I gotta say, it was flavorful while crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Then for our meals, we got the Tan Tan Men and the Shio Chicken Ramen (with added spice). First I got to say, these are oversized bowls, so come to expect large portions of ramen! Both were very delicious with the perfect amount of flavor, though I had the Shio Chicken and it was everything I was looking for in a ramen and the white meat chicken breast was cooked to perfection! On top of the amazing meal, our server was amazing, on her game, had a very socialable attitude and full of great recommendations. I definitely plan to go back for those ramen craving nights and highly recommend!

Northgate Market
4700 Inglewood Blvd, Culver City, CA 90230, United States
This is one location of a entire chain throughout Los Angeles. I describe them as Little Gems of Los Angeles. They are a true window into the Latino Market. They make their own tortillas on site, the food court is amazing, fruit and vegetable prices cannot be beat and the staff and management seems as friendly as they get.For first-timers to the food court, start with a Carnitas or chicken taco con total, which means onions cilantro and a little mild salsa. Get about a third of a pound of ceviche. This is a cold Citrus cooked fish dish thats just fantastic. If you like citrus like lemons and limes youll really enjoy this. Get one scoop of the chunky guacamole. And definitely try their salsa verde dish of the day. Salsa verde simply means in green sauce. They usually have one in chicken, pork and beef. These stews are just incredible.Ive never been a big fan of their sweet cookies and rolls. So to me the bakery is just okay. They do have the freshest tortillas and chips in town. Try them with some El Salvadorian Crema and habanero Brown salsa. If youre born and raised in America, do realize that in Mexico their beef and chicken are raised differently and therefore has a slightly different taste. Some people notice, some dont. I havent noticed any difference at the food court, except the chicken, but I have noticed in their packaged meat.Enjoy!S

Braddock Square Shopping Center
4700 Inglewood Blvd, Culver City, CA 90230, United States
I love this market! The workers are nice, friendly and efficient. The produce area is always bustling with shoppers but it remains clean, inviting and well stocked. The minute you walk into the store you are greeted with the fabulous aroma coming from the bakery. It is hard to tear yourself away to continue to go into the store to shop. Shopping is a treat especially when you find items you have not seen for a while or not offered in other markets. Case in point; I found amaretto coffee creamer which I have not seen in other markets for a long time. I would recommend this market to anyone looking for items not found or out of stock in other markets. Have fun shopping!!

Pho Show Culver City
4349 Sepulveda Blvd, Culver City, CA 90230, United States
I've been coming here since ~2008 and it never disappoints.Highlights from their menu that I've tried:Items below have priced as of 11/13/2023:SALT AND PEPPER TOFU $12.00I ordered this to go two weeks ago and it was great. The tofu was crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside. It has a ton of flavor! I've read reviews that complain that it doesn't taste like salt and pepper, but this is what Chinese Salt and Pepper taste like- it's usually made with salt and bell pepper, garlic, and green onions. Sometimes places will add white pepper or a spice like Szechuan chilis as well. But, this dish is not made spicy at Pho Show; it is salty and delicious, but you can add chili oil, chili sauce, or sriracha if you'd like (condiments on the table).SALT AND PEPPER CALAMARI $15.00I had this last night and it didn't disappoint. I love fried calamari and adding the flavor of Chinese Salt and Pepper to it was perfect. I also highly recommend squeezing the lemon on it which they provide you. It adds a nice citrus flavor boost.RARE STEAK PHO (pho tai) $13.25 + $1.25 for largeThe rare steak is thicker than most places, which I appreciate because I feel like I get more meat here than at places that shave the meat. However, it's almost always cooked more than I like by the time I receive it at the table… so, when it arrives, I pull all the meat out immediately to stop it from cooking further.I like my steak med rare, and although some pieces may arrive medium well (little pink), most arrive well done. That's because their broth is popping hot! And I always forget to ask for the meat to be served on the side, so I can add it for the time needed to cook only to medium rare.**HINT: if you're like me and don't want the meat fully cooked, ask for it on the side. The broth that comes with this is amazing. It's hot and flavorful. It has white and green onions served in it.On the side, you'll receive bean sprouts, basil, jalapeño, and lemon slices (they used to serve it with lime- not sure when this changed). I like to squirt in the lemon, add the sprouts, basil, and a single jalapeño for a little kick.On the table, you'll have access to chili oil, chili sauce, sriracha, and of course, hoisin. I like to add the hoisin and a little sriracha to add some kick.***HINT: if you have broth left over, and you wanna make this into two meals, you can order extra noodles for $4-5. You can add it right away, or take them home for later.ORANGE CHICKENThis is the best orange chicken I've ever had. Not only is the chicken perfectly crispy, with moist, flavorful chicken inside, but the sauce is phenomenal! I don't know how they make it taste so much better than anyone else. Maybe it's because it has a slight spicy kick to it? Maybe it's because they add orange rinds to it? Whatever it is, this is delicious!*HINT: Don't forget to order a side of rice to eat with it!Pho Show can get busy, so call ahead to see if there is a wait. If there is, you can always order takeout. They have a website which you can order from without a fee!***HINT: they often have discounts on their website for online orders… like if you're a local, etcThe inside is cute: outside they have tables with chairs, whereas inside they have a mix of tables with chairs vs tables with booths & chairs. The staff who work here are nice and usually have good recommendations. My only gripe!!!!! They got rid of the ube ice cream. That was the best ice cream ever!!! Please bring it back. :)

Public School 310
9411 Culver Blvd, Culver City, CA 90232, United States
Public school is cool place. The bf and I sat at the bar. The waiter the was super friendly...I wish I would have gotten his name to give him a proper shout out. Please excuse the picture of my half drunken Irish coffee and half eaten buffalo cauliflower. By the time I realized I needed to take a picture.... well we had already enjoyed a few bites and sips. I like that the cauliflower where large pieces and they had good texture. But I will say they were a bit on the bready side. They had a nice buffalo taste and came with a side of blue cheese dressing and marinara sauce which personally I thought was weird. Ive never had any buffalo flavor food with marinara sauce. I just feel like those are two competing flavors and not complimentary to each other. We also got the pb & j burger. Sounds weird but its actually delicious. For me I could have used more pb.... I love pb and the fact that they use chunky pb is awesome. The meat tasted fresh and was cooked perfectly... medium. The bacon lardons (thick cut bacon chucks) added a nice saltiness to the sweet pb&j. I would totally order this again. We got fries as the companion but you can decide to get a peanut coleslaw or red quinoa. The fries came with a side of sriracha ketchup, which is not for me. I like my ketchup to just taste like ketchup. As for the drinks, I personally am not a big drinker.... im still learning. But the Irish coffee was good. Although I thought it could have been sweeter. My bf got the coffee stout, which he said he like... again not for. But Im not a beer drinker. He also got the guavalajara. Which had a lovely presentation and delicious flavor. My bf said he could drink those all day. You could taste the basil. Very nice. This place was very nice and I love the look of the menu and napkins.... super cute.

Panda Express
3812 Midway Ave, Culver City, CA 90232, United States
This specific place has rude employees. I had a bad experience during my visit to this Panda Express. I went in with my family to eat and while I was ordering I had difficulty to hear this lady (Carolina) and had to ask her multiple times to repeat what she was saying to me. I understand she was wearing a face mask and maybe that was the reason I couldn't understand her, but she got mad and gave me a bad attitude right away. (She was never kind or welcoming in any form since the beginning). When it was time to pay I also asked her for extra fortune cookies (6—> to be specific) since my mom and I ordered 3 two entree plates, 1 three entree plate and 2 kid meals. She refused to give more fortune cookies because she said “you only get one with a plate.”So I asked for the manager and he came to us. (Kevin) I told him I asked the girl for 6 cookies and he said he couldn't give more cookies because I already had 4 with my four plates. He excused himself saying that they always give just one cookie with one plate and he couldn't give me more. Which is weird, mean and unfair. My family and I are really Panda Express lovers and we always go to different Panda Express locations and we never ever have had lived a situation like this before. It's so heartbreaking to see this kind of employees working at one of our favorite restaurants.I can't understand why she was acting so rude to me and to my mom. She honestly didn't offered us good costumer service. Her service was awfully disrespectful. Arguing to us infront of so many people. The manager (Kevin) took her to the back. Also, one more point. At this store they didn't have the kung pao chicken ready. They prepared our 4 plates with the chow main and rice and left them on the shelf for minutes until the kung Pao chicken was ready. When we got our plates, the sides(chow mein & rice) were cold since the plates were sitting there waiting to be fill in with the entrees. Which is not fair.1.The dinning room was dirty and the trash cans were full.2. Empty pans between 3pm to 4pm3. Entrance doors (glass) were dirty.4. Kung pao chicken and chow mein did not taste good. These were not flavorful. .5. Women's restroom was dirty.

Fifty One
9540 Washington Blvd, Culver City, CA 90232, United States
Overpriced. Horrible food quality and even worse service.Ok, I get it, Chinese restaurants are busy on Christmas Day. That is precisely why we booked a reservation days in advance for Fifty One Kitchen. My girlfriend and I had not been out for good Chinese in a very long time, so we found this place and the ratings and reviews online, as well as the menu, made it our choice for our Christmas Day dinner. We had been looking forward to this dinner for some time. We did not realize how utterly disappointing and deplorable our dining experience was going to be.We arrived just in time for our 7pm reservation. There was a big crowd of people around the front door and the place was packed. The host apologized and told us they were running a little behind but would seat us as soon as they could. About 20-25 minutes later we were seated. It took another 10-15 minutes before a waiter came to our table to take our order. We were really hungry at this point. We put in our rather simple, uncomplicated order – egg roll starters, won ton soup ($19.99) and two entrees; sweet and sour pork ($23.99) for me and honey black pepper steak bites ($31.99) for my girlfriend. Both with a side order of brown rice. We also ordered black tea and sake.Upon putting in our order, the waiter informed us that the kitchen was backed up and our order could take up to 40 minutes. At that point, what were we to do but wait? About 20 mins later we got the egg rolls. Both were slightly over-cooked. About 10 minutes later my entree, the sweet and sour pork arrived in front of me. But no won ton soup. No tea and no saki. And the entree for my girlfriend was absent as well. We figured it would be right out, so I waited before digging into my entree. But not before my girlfriend and I both had a little nibble. The sweet and sour port was lukewarm at best. Not hot. Time went by. I repeatedly tried to flag down a waiter. Meanwhile servers repeatedly stopped at our table mistakenly bringing us dishes for the surrounding tables, but not the rest of our order. After 30 minutes, I got up and stood and waited nearby as one of our waiters took the order of other diners. I was really frustrated, but maintained my composure in expressing my dissatisfaction with our service to that point. The waiter made excuses and made no amends. He did finally get us our tea and sake, but not before making excuses --- “No other restaurants around here are open and we are overly busy… etc.” I reminded him that we had made a reservation for that very reason. Another 20+ minutes later my girlfriend's black pepper steak bites were finally served. I had finished my entree long before, at her insistence, and even bussed my plates because no on came to clear the table – as no one ever came to check on us. Still no soup, even though we were given the assurance it was coming. Meanwhile, other parties that were seated around us after we were seated received far better service and even got their soups. Oh, and we never got our sides of rice to go with our entrees either. It then took us some time to finally get the check. And we had to remind the waiter that we never got the soup so we should not be charged. The service was inexcusably bad. No one ever came to check on us. I had to chase down servers on 5 separate occasions to get what food I could from what we ordered. When expressing our dissatisfaction, no amends were made or offered. No acknowledgement or consolation whatsoever.Honestly, these guys managed to ruin our Christmas. I have had better Chinese food, far cheaper, at Panda Express. If I wanted that, I would not have wasted my time seeking out a dining experience. At least with Panda Express my food would be served to warm and together. We are usually good tippers. Tonight we left no tip and wrote a note of dissatisfaction on the merchant copy of our bill.We will never go back. And we will warn everyone in our social circles to steer clear of this place, as we are warning those of you reading this review.
