Pick Up Stix Fresh Asian Flavors
32525 Golden Lantern Suite DE, Dana Point, CA 92629, United States
First of all, the food was excellent. No complaints there so I am really sad to have to write this. The name of the business is Pick Up Stix. You pick up the food to go. Its wonderful. My complaint is the customer service. We called for over 15 minutes to try and order food to go. We got off the freeway and called all the way to the restaurant and no one answered. My husband had the phone ringing when he walked in. There was not a ton of activity. There was not a line at the counter. The response when he asked the young woman why she didnt answer his call? I am too busy. He told her the phone was ringing now. Her response? She turned it off at the switch. No apology. Nothing. So a business that survives based on the amount of food it sells has an employee that turns the phone off so she cant hear it. I am a manager of a business and I can tell you that if I ever read a review like this about one of my staff, they would no longer have a job. The food is excellent. I think you need a change in staff that reflects the quality of your food. Trust me. This employee was not excellent.

Eden Vegan Restaurant

I felt like venturing a little further out to try something new and came across this place. This restaurant is fairly new and currently has a soft opening menu. You'll notice when you walk in how clean and modern the interior is. To your immediate right is where the host would be. To your left you'll see a handful of tables.Their soft opening menu, which we were given when we were seated, had a good selection of items (including vegan items) which all sounded good. We ended up ordering the following: Crispy Egg Rolls, Smoked Pho, and the Original Pho. I also ordered a Lychee Hibiscus to try as well. How did it all taste?- Crispy Egg Rolls: 4 moderate sized egg rolls. These were good, crispy and flavorful. The sauce that was included was icing on the cake, a little bit of spice goes a long way.- Smoked Pho: Smoked short rib with a bone rests on top of this bowl of pho. The short rib was good, tender, and had some flavor. The broth (which we were told to enjoy without sriracha/hoisin sauce) was a little bland. It was rich, and I could tell there was some flavor, but I feel like it was a little watered down. Sure, I could've mentioned something when asked how it was, but I kind of felt bad if I did.- Original Pho: Like the Smoked Pho, the meat was good. Huge pieces of brisket (we opted for brisket only), which were tender and had some flavor. The broth tasted similar to the Smoked Pho, but slightly more watered down.- Lychee Hibiscus: The drink was pretty, and tasted good. It wasn't too sweet. It came out with a straw that was skinny so it was someone difficult to drink with the lychee jelly. I requested a larger straw but they didn't have any, so they provided me with 2 small spoons.Service was a little awkward from the two people that helped us. But, they were friendly. It took 15-20 minutes to receive our bill after our table was cleared and were asked if we wanted anything else. There were only 3 parties of 2 people in the restaurant at the time.Parking isn't a problem here. There are plenty of spots though I'm not sure it is during the day when most people are at Gelson's and other neighboring businesses are open.I'm sure they're still working on kinks here and there being so new, so I'll have to come back and give them another shot!
The Little Kitchen Asian Cafe
24831 Del Prado Ave, Dana Point, CA 92629, United States
PLEASE READ: My wife and i just started throwing up at the same time about 20 minutes after eating their food. I just called and said “i'm not looking for a refund, just letting you know that we have food poisoning…etc” the lady said that i'm wrong and doesn't have time to talk to me and hung up. The food tasted amazing but we're throwing up in sync so….. maybe throw away your batch of beef and listen to your customers before you get more people sick.7/22 follow up- The male manager was extremely nice after we returned the food last time after I explained what happened. He offered a credit or a refund and I took the credit to give them another chance. The female on the phone Rebecca said that I'm wrong and people cannot get sick from food and this has never happened. I said this is very rude for you to go back and forth… she continued to argue and say that we are wrong and they have never had a single complaint. I hate to be the guy that leaves a negative review and I was hoping to remove this post but Rebecca needs to take a Serv safe class and possibly go to a seminar on how to treat customers with respect. Hope we don't get sick this time. To end with a quote from her “we cooked it more for you this time so that you don't get sick again.” Thank you Rebecca, you're great…

Peking Dragon Restaurant
34171 Pacific Coast Hwy, Dana Point, CA 92629, United States
OCTOBER 15, 2015 AT IPM: I know that in the past I have spoken ill of the Peking Dragon, a restaurant which on and off I have frequented since their inception. Through the years there were times when the food lacked certain qualities that before we had gotten used to, other times it has been right on the money, but now after our visit yesterday around 1 PM we chose from their lunch menu items, which keeps increasing in price and somewhat decreasing in size, I finally realized that the Peking Dragon is nothing to scoff at. It finally dawned on me that this place, with its better moments and their not so good, is the one place that one keeps coming back to, specially for those lucky enough to live in that beautiful area which is Dana Point. Plate ordered:Mandarin Prawn, around $13.25 a plate. The beauty about the Peking Dragon is that one can request light sauce, less or more spice, and they will make it no questions asked. The Prawns dish has shrunk a little bit, and come to think about it, so had the dish in which it was served, but it arrived to the table hot and crispy, with a side order of fried rice (not spectacular for it is the most basic rendition during lunch), and it was very tasty. There were 4 of us, and two had this dish. Eaten with no problems, really enjoyable, all imaginings of diets and conservative options, were put on hold. The lunch comes with soup (egg flour, not too shabby, sometimes a little more watery, but so easy to eat), and the choice of two pieces of fried chicken or egg rolls. I have to say that Peking Dragon has the technique of the fried chicken down to a science, making this selection almost addicting, never seem to be enough. Shane, one of the owners, has the audacity to charge for this same fried chicken on the appetizer menu $9.25 for 4 chicken wings! Yes, and I buy it almost every time for I have been hooked from way back. Is it the high temperature in which these wonderful morsels are seared, the simple but enticing coating applied? Go ask the Chef, but I warn anyone, entering their kitchen and getting answers is nearly impossible. Believe me, I tried. 5 Stars.Peking Dragon Beef, $11.25 or so. Two of these were ordered by the lovely ladies in the group. Soft and tender slices of meat with green onions and special sauce. Perhaps not the best lunch selection, the shrimp with vegetable I would have ordered before that one, but each one is entitled to what their little hearts desire, and they seemed to enjoy the selection, although one of the ladies gave me like half her dish, something she has been accused before of doing, which secretly I love! She also gave me one of her two pieces of chicken without having to ask. These were ordered with steamed rice and the same egg flower soup. 4 Stars.Service very expedient and the waiter, Tony, I have known for several years, and frankly I like the heck out of him. He doesnt say much, but listens well and is prompt with refreshing water and more tea, as requested. Now the Peking Dragon waits for the patrons to request water in honor to the conservation efforts the beautiful State of California is going through because of the drought. Had to throw that in.Total bill: around $53 plus gratuity, which Tony from I do not know what part of China he is, was awarded happily and little bit more that what is correct these days.Yes, must hand it to them. Lunch at Peking Dragon is a blast, and the numbers of patrons prove this is the place to go when that particular craving demands it. Been there for 30 years? Far out! 5 Stars.
Laguna Cliffs Marriott Resort & Spa
25135 Park Lantern, Dana Point, CA 92629, United States
This resort sits atop a large and well-maintained grassy hill overlooking the Dana Point Harbor. The grounds are large and contain multiple pools, hot tubs, event venues, and several restaurants. The gym is spacious and well-stocked and is usually empty.Valet parking is around $45 per night, and there is no self parking, but for stops under 4hrs you can street park by the park on the road leading up to the hotel. The rooms were acceptable and clean. The views are pretty nice - we paid for a partial coastal view room and the view was beautiful, especially as the sun set.The hotel lounge, called OverVue, is excellent! Their menu is a Hawaiian/Californian fusion with pan-Asian influences. Since we had the CA resident deal, we had resort credits which fully covered several hotel meals here. It’s a very fun restaurant and the creative menu really impressed me!Overall, my stay here was great and I would come back or recommend others to check this place out!
Lantern Bay Village Shopping Center
24801-24871, Del Prado Ave, Dana Point, CA 92629, United States
It is kind of like an old town center like they have back East. Saturdays they have a nice farmers market where you can pick up fresh veggies for the week as well as other goodies like tamales, local art, fruit, bread, cakes, etc. There are also shops located around the plaza like Hennesleaze, a cycle shop, overpriced surf shop, a small mexican market and others. Keep an eye out in the weekly for events they hold in the plaza. They usually have something going on for each holiday.
