Urbane Cafe

First off the food was great it's always great every time I go they always make it like the last time. My problem is that I went to order and a person I assume the manager was on her clipboard writing stuff down at the register area and she didn't acknowledge I was there at first but then asked what would I like, I ordered a southwest and a drink. She asks if I wanted my receipt and I take it and walk away she continues to write on her clipboard. During the whole process I felt rushed and didn't feel welcomed as I should've been. I get my order and they forgot my drink. No surprise since the manager was clearly busy doing temperature checks. I had to go up and get my cup and again the unwelcome demeanor was apparent. As a manager why are you on register? Managers aren't supposed to be helping customers they worry about the flow of traffic and making sure customers are helped. I know she was busy doing manager stuff but she can always have someone else help me, I would've got a better experience. This place is good for a delicious bite I hope you don't get a manager that worries about her work more than the customer experience. ?

Found this place randomly. We were checking out the outdoor missile museum and were hungry after, so we looked to see what was on the map not too far away. This had rave reviews and sounded a bit unusual so we headed over.So glad we did.The server was excellent and personable. Both of our entrees and my soup were delicious and my two had a very artistic presentation. Recommend what we had: steak chaufa, rockfish with beet smear and seasonal veggies (the sauce is normally on top but I had asked for it to be on the side), and the spinach-squash soup. The soup was mixed tableside, which we hadnt encountered before. It had a surprise ingredient that I would not have thought of adding to this soup but which worked great. The decor was nice too, fresh and homey. Lots of windows. Sunset view, more or less. Easy, free parking just around the corner.Menu was short but had good selections (other than octopus, which is indeed delicious but which we are now avoiding because of their intelligence). Had hoped to try the goat-fig and kimchi items seen online but they were not available (they werent on the menu). Not sure if they were on a lunch menu or if its a seasonal rotation; didnt ask. Some menu items we typically would have gone with were coincidentally what we had just had for lunch, making for easier decisions.Wish we lived closer or that they had a branch in the DC area. We would come here often. Many thanks for the special dinner. Hope you stick around for a very long time.
Lucerne Italian Restaurant
868 Arneill Rd, Camarillo, CA 93010, United States
It was a lovely day to take myself to lunch and Lucerne Restaurant was my favorite choice. I had been there before with my husband and today I wished to treat myself. As with my first experience I was not disappointed. The restaurant is small and cozy and inviting in this unremarkable commercial shopping center near to Vons. What a surprising treasure nesseled in this center.Fresh flowers distinguish each small Italian table with white immaculate linen tablecloths. The back wall is lined with countless wine bottles. The co owner greeted me with Italuan accent and a list of specials for the day. Freshly baked bread and butter came quickly along with my choice of Perrier water and a fresh lime.My choice among many was an entre of fresh Ahi tuna with Italain rice, fresh salad and vegetables. All the food was mouth watering delicious.I left the restaurant satisfied Id body and soulThe lunch cost was just over $30. I treated myself kindly with this remarkable lunch. This restaurant is romantic with pictures of Italy on the walls and uplifting music.
Las Posas Country Club
955 Fairway Dr, Camarillo, CA 93010, United States
Wow. The view, the staff, the presentation, the flavors...where do I begin? I had the monkfish special with veggies, rosemary potatoes, and a lobster sauce with watercress...and a cup of creamed watercress soup. And I was transported to heaven. The staff was attentive yet at all intrusive. We had a table with a view reminiscent of the view from the Reagan Library: green rolling hills that seem to go on forever. The experience was out of the ordinary! See for yourself. Soon.
Latitude 34
660 Ventura Blvd Suite 100, Camarillo, CA 93010, United States
This restaurant is one of the more difficult eaterys for me to rate. There are many pluses with a few annoying minuses mixed in.Our requested booth was ready for us when we arrived and we were seated promptly. There is nothing elegant about the restaurant but it is bright and clean with a moderate noise level. Upon being seated our waiter promptly provided us with service. We ordered cocktails which were very good and told our waiter were there for dinner. Heres where I start to nit pick. I ordered a bowl of lobster bisque to start and it came out immediately but without any dinner rolls, bread or crackers. After it was apparent these things werent going to be served, I asked for some bread. We were given 2 tiny pieces of bread which was acceptable but I thought it was a little chintzy on their part but what do I know? The bisque was delicious! For dinner I ordered the seafood pasta with a dinner salad and my wife got a ribeye steak, medium. The dinner salad was OK by me but my wife loved it. Way too much arugula in it for my taste which made it kind of dry but the dressing was very good. My seafood pasta was delicious. Very rich, great pasta cooked just right. But, here again, the small lobster tail provided was way overcooked. It had very little taste left and was rubbery. Also no bread, again which is odd since it was a pasta dish, so I asked and a small loaf arrived at our table. The seafood pasta was delicious. My wifes steak was cooked to perfection and she said it was very tasty. She also ordered a loaded baked potato. We both thought that it would be served as a plain baked potato with all the rest on the side. But the potato came to the table with everything loaded into it and then warmed or baked slightly. Interesting as to why they would do that. Easier, cheaper? IDK. She also had asparagus which was done perfectly. So, there ya go. Will I return? I doubt it. The meal with 2 cocktails came to $150 plus tip. For that, I expected a little more. Would I recommend the restaurant to someone? Probably would. You could do a lot worse.

Waypoint Caf Camarillo Airport
325 Durley Ave, Camarillo, CA 93010, United States
This hidden gem will not disappoint. The food is on point and deliciously fresh and tantalizing! They have a menu that fits every type of eater, including vegetarian selections and healthy tidbits. For those who love to indulge, mouth waters glasses of ice-cold milk shakes dipped in chocolate await you, with leftovers in the container and a spoon! There are waffles with maple syrup, Hawaiian pineapple chicken sandwiches, Serrano peppers mixed in with scrambled eggs, and kids menu items that can feed two very hungry preschools from a single plate. I always have leftovers. And to top it off, the prices are pretty reasonable, especially for the huge portion sizes. When you pull up, you may notice that the lines may be long, but dont let that hijack your food craving. Stop the car and come on in! They have a fast system, and it works like clock work. I dont know if its because they are located at the airport where people traditionally need fast service? Or if they carry on the excellence, always model from it being an early military insulation moons and moons ago! But it works! You place your order before youre even seated and pay right away. Then you have many opportunities for seating. You can go outside and observe the plans and helicopters up close and personal on the top deck. Or there are several covered see through patios. Each is well heated and ventilated. Or you can snuggle inside in a booth or at a table with friends. You will find plenty of staff who check in on you, and are constantly on the move, providing exceptional, high quality customer service. Its a pleasant atmosphere for families, friends or individuals. You can even find a seat at the counter and watch the food service in action. So check out this community treasure whenever youre in Ventura County! You will not be disappointed but will find a home away from home.
Bistro 13
4910 Verdugo Way, Camarillo, CA 93012, United States
Waiter was pleasant.Air conditioning was ineffective. We were indoors, but slapping flies throughout dinner. My glass of red wine was served much higher than room temperature.Salad greens werent fresh.Bread not bad but was unheated. Butter served cold.I had the Calabrian risotto which was mediocre at best.My wife had the mushroom and filet mignon risotto. I tried it The steak was bland and gristly and we had to ask for more mushrooms.Staff were standing 3 feet from our table, speaking loudly in Spanish. Neither of us finished more than half of our expensive dinners. Finally, the hostess came to ask how we liked our meals.I told her the staff was pleasant, but we were terribly disappointed in the food and the uncomfortably warm atmosphere. She asked if she could get us some desert. I asked if she was offering a complimentary dessert or asking us to order.. She said she was asking if we wanted to order dessert. I asked why she had bothered to ask how everything was if she didnt intend to address the issues.I guess its just our tough luck, then?Yeah, I guess so, she replied. I asked to speak to the manager. She ignored this request and told the waiter. He also asked if we wanted to order dessert and finally offered it gratis. It was house-made tiramisu, and it was indifferent at best, garnished with artificial whipped cream. Finally, the restaurant was dirty, windows not clean.I lived in San Francisco for 30 years, where there are many fine Italian restaurants, and I have visited Italy.Ive cooked in a restaurant. Ive lived in Camarillo for 8 years. The least expensive, least pretentious Italian restaurants in Camarillo are superior to this inexplicably highly overrated, overpriced place. We wont be returning.
Onyx Bistro
2390 Las Posas Rd Suite H, Camarillo, CA 93010, United States
Interesting place. Somewhat of a mixed bag.Stopped in because we saw a “grand opening” sign. In reading some of the other reviews, this place seems to have been around for a while and seemed to have two names.Anyway, staff was really nice. Couldn't have asked for happier folks. One paper menu for the table to have to share is ludicrous. It literally is a sheet of paper printed in the back. Waiter said they're “trying to save paper.” I'm sorry, for my $150 table check, we each deserve our own piece of paper.Hummus “platter” was tiny bowl and definitely not worth the money.Charceutary board is a mystery. Seems to come with cheese only. Menu says “meats” are $3. No clue what those meat options are because it doesn't say.Ok. Now the good.Flatbread pizza was excellent.Blackened salmon was also excellent although the black rice it came with had zero flavor. Should have been cooked with some salt, butter, chicken broth, anything.Veggies it came with were also superb.Citrus chicken was also an A+. Hard to get chicken breast to not be dry, but they did it.Had the creme brûlée for dessert, which was tasty, but warm. Creme brûlée should be ice cold, then torched before serving. The custard shouldn't be warm.Prices were really reasonable. Under $30 for entrees, even the steak. Combine that with excellent service and we'd come back again. Just next time, please give three people three of your paper menus. Sets a better tone from the get go.
