Spice Rack
67555 E Palm Canyon Dr Suite E101-102, Cathedral City, CA 92234, United States
I have been to countless Indian spice shops and grocery stores in San Francisco, Fremont, Berkeley in the Bay Area and in Denver and Los Angeles. Spice Rack is in its own class.I have never seen such a carefully curated collection of all kinds of Indian goods. As a former restaurant owner and distributor or Indian foods to speciality stores, and a caterer, I am used to the ubiquitous overpoweringly crowded and spice flavoured shops that have been around for a while. Mostly open for decades. New ones in the Bay Area too end up the same way. They remind me of the grocery stores I go to in Delhi and Bombay. Aesthetics are not the highest priority. Cramming products for sale is definitely on top of the agenda. And that is how a successful business owner can make a profit and survive. However Spice Rack is different. Feels like a state of the art store. Wide aisles. Neatly packaged products both organic and commercial are arranged in an organized way so it is easy to pick up Dal (lentils), rice, flour and whole and ground spices. They have a fairly well stocked refrigerator with a good variety of frozen goods. In the front they have a collection of Indian sweets that are made by a well known professional Mithai maker (expert in sweets) from Los Angeles.I was in a bit of a hurry but still lingered in the aisles looking for my favourite achaar (pickle) and was not disappointed when I asked for fresh curry leaves and yes, they had some!! Yay!Sukhi and Jyoti are the owners and operators of this store that is the first of its kind in the Palm Springs area. I was resigned to having to drive to Redlands or Los Angeles to get my Indian supplies for the foreseeable future but finally I dont need to anymore. The quality, top brands and affordable prices make Spice Rack a unique and welcome addition to the Palm Springs, Cathedral City area. It is conveniently located across from Target on Hwy 111.I will be going there often and wish them all the luck and good fortune for being pioneers because they have taken on being the first one in this line of retail business. Such effort requires an entrepreneur mentality and vision. Combine these qualities with a desire to procure the highest quality items in a clean, modern and well planned store with plenty of room to grow and viola! you have Spice Rack.Congratulations Jyoti and Sukhi!! May Lord Ganesh and Goddess Lakshmi bring you great success.

Kpop Foodz - Korean Food

Hole in the wall Korean food place...with AUTHENTIC Korean food, I should add. Have missed good Bibimbap since moving from LA and close proximity to K Town...finally found it at K Pop. Owners work the kitchen and are extremely nice. Service is spotty only because they are in that opening phase...it will get better. If you like Korean fast food, K Pop is the perfect choice!

Tacos del Valle
68467 E Palm Canyon Dr, Cathedral City, CA 92234, United States
The owner, Sammy (his name is Samuel, but his friends call him Sammy) is a very kind-hearted and considerate person. This is a very impressive store! For the menu, I ordered Platillo, beef and fried rice? And the combination of onion, cilantro, and lime was the best. Even while we were eating, the kitchen immediately baked tortillas twice and brought them to us. Above all, the beef soup they served together was really delicious even when it was cold (its said to be Sammys moms secret recipe). I really enjoyed the attention they paid to me throughout the meal, and I was really grateful for the Mexican chocolate they gave me as a gift! A must-go taco restaurant next time you come to Palm Springs!!

Sammys Place

Incredibly disappointed in our experience at Sammy's. The reviews had us hopeful, but the entire experience fell short. We were welcomed with a pleasant waitress who welcomed us, informed us they have a full bar, wine, and drinks. Considering the menu had multiple mixed drink options but none of them being tequila, I asked her to ask the bar tender if he had any non-sweet mixed tequila drinks he could make. She came back saying no he doesn't and continued to judgmentally tell me that most people don't order tequila drinks with Italian. I wasn't aware people ordered watermelon martinis with Italian either, which is a main drink on their menu, so it felt like a weird comment to make. We then ordered a bottle of red wine and the tester had sediment in it and was warm and awful, so we asked for a new bottle. As friendly as she was, I saw the encounter with the bartender and they both gave each other faces and he hesitantly (and seemingly annoyingly) gave her another bottle to serve us.We got through a whole bottle of wine and a martini each before our food was served. The angel hair noodles were disgustingly over cooked, the chicken was dry, the fettuccine noodles were undercooked, the sauces were all runny and wouldn't stick to the noodles so it was like soup at the bottom of the dishes. We left more than half of each of our dishes there and left hungry. It missed the mark by more than a mile for us. We will not be going back to even see if it was just a bad night.Snarky staff that gave us courtesy smiles to our faces and dirty looks behind our backs and bad main dishes. I would give it a one star but the facility itself was very clean, the artichoke tapenade for the bread was good, the soup was good, and the drinks were good minus the one bad bottle of wine. The potential was there, but definitely fell short for our visit.

Oceans

This was my first time coming to this place. Its a small, intimate place with top-notch staff that take great care of you. Lots of parking in front and beside the place. The manager actually came outside and greeted us as we arrived. He explained that because of the Covid-19 pandemic, you had to show your vaccination card to eat inside but there was plenty of tables outside if you didnt have proof of vaccination. The menu has a good selection of things to offer. Obviously this is a seafood restaurant and there are a lot of choices. In addition they offer a variety of meat, steak, lambchops, and pasta dishes. Everything sounds delicious. We started off with appetizers. I had the crab cakes and my friend had the steamed clams. Both were excellent and cooked perfectly. Lots of good choices for appetizers! For the main course, I had the scallops and my friend had the Chilean Sea Bass. They were served with mashed potatoes and vegetables. Everything was absolutely delicious. Unlike a lot of other restaurants, these guys focus on quality over quantity. The meal was filling but I wasnt overstuffed. I really prefer that.Oh, and their bread is great! Its served with olive oil but butter is available. Very addictive! For dessert, I had a hard time choosing but decided on the raspberry cheesecake. It was perfect. Slightly tangy raspberry sauce and perfect NY style cheesecake. The restaurants ambiance was nice. The tables are close enough for cross-table conversations. The people at the adjacent tables were very nice and friendly. The restaurant staff were great. They kept a close watch to make sure your drink was refilled or if you needed anything. They were professional but very friendly. My friend lives very close to the restaurant and comes there often. I definitely look forward to coming back soon!Bottom line - an excellent place to have a delicious meal. Its a little pricey but totally worth every penny.

Otori Sushi
68100 Ramon Rd, Cathedral City, CA 92234, United States
Otori certainly subscribes to the quantity over quality of products. We ordered 5 sushi rolls amongst 3 of us and they were more than enough to quell our hunger; so much so that were glad that there was a mix-up over the two appetizers we ordered. Had they been brought to our table, we may not have been able to finish our meal.Back to the matter at hand, the sushi rolls were significantly larger than Ive seen in any other sushi restaurant. Their size may have affected their ability to stick together though as many of the specialty rolls would fall apart while getting picked. The red dragon and monster rolls were decent, but I had a problem with the aloha roll. The flavors, particularly with the sauce drizzled on top, seemed to clash and certainly overpowered any chance of tasting the fish. The staff were very attentive and nice; going as far providing complimentary edamame and miso soup for us. Overall a decent place.

Meester Zebra
68703 Perez Rd STE A-1, Cathedral City, CA 92234, United States
Let me just say that my husband and I like two things when we go out...good food AND great service. Today, we had both. After taking our motorhome in for service, we decided to try Meester Zebra. We are so happy we did! Its was early so we both ordered breakfast. We had the pancake breakfast that included eggs your style, bacon, ham, or sausage. My husband had bacon and I had ham. Kyle prefers his bacon extra crispy which usually is brought out burnt. Not this time. His bacon looked as if I cooked it myself. I chose ham, the best smokey ham quarter slice ive had in a very long time. If youre a ham eater, you understand what I mean. The coffee was as good or better than any coffee shop! And I know my coffee. There menu is large and there is something for everyone. One more thing...the service was outstanding. One of the co-owners Jr. was our server. He gave us a history of the restaurant and the best service. He is knowledgeable and friendly. They serve bbq on Saturday and we were told they always run out...so please call in your order. If youre ever in Cat City, try Meester Zebra, you wont be dissapointed.

Trader Joes
67720 E Palm Canyon Dr, Cathedral City, CA 92234, United States
We are visiting from South Orange County. We visit Palm Springs often and have for years. Whenever we are here our first stop is always Trader Joe's. One of the great things about TJs is that they are consistently clean, well stocked and super friendly. You can always find the items you like here. The produce is fresh and beautiful. We grilled some salmon the other night that we purchased here. It was perfection! What most people (that don't shop here) don't realize is that TJs is so inexpensive. I get it. It LOOKS expensive. And the quality of the food would be much higher priced anywhere else. But it's very competitively priced. I paid the same amount per pound for TJs salmon that I would have paid at any other chain grocery store. But the quality of the seafood at TJs is just so much better. Give it a try. Seriously. The staff is always nice and if there's a wait they always open more register. Always. One last thing. If you are trying to improve the way you eat and want quality, start here. I wouldn't know how to feed my family without Trader Joe's.

Ive gotta say Ive had some good papusas and by far these are just ridiculously delicious. The beans are absolutely perfect and the cheese is not skipped on. My absolute favorite is their curtido, this mild spicy and sour cabbage flavor is to die for and the traditional salsa is a perfect complement of all the beautiful flavors. Ive found my favorite papusasria and Im hooked. You guys are amazing and I hope to help support you as a local business, speaking of that the gentleman who helped was so nice and staff are a huge part on how good a restaurant is
