Casa Jimenez Mexican Restaurant
15844 Gale Ave, Hacienda Heights, CA 91745, United States
My wife and I went there today 04/15 2018. This was a regular stop before they changed management and the food was excellent and the wait staff attentive and friendly. It was Sunday in the early afternoon approximately 1:30 or so, past the morning rush. We were greeted by 3 teenagers who caught us as we proceeded toward the dining area, it took a few seconds to realize that the kid with the backwards hat and the girls talking on their cell phones were the greeters and seaters! The chips arrived cold, not even room temperature and of course tasted bad. Our food order was taken timely and delivered piping hot. Unfortunately that is the best thing I can say about the food. The Chimichanga was passable, but the rice tasted as if someone had dropped cigarette ashes in it. The refried d beans were like soup and my beef enchiladas tasted like they used leftover meat from earlier in the week. I should have brought my own powdered spices from home to infuse taste into the meal!Sadly, one of our favorites restaurants is one we will never set foot into again. The Del Taco on the corner serves better tasting food.

Tasty Pan Asian soup restaurant!! Very nice service!
Hacienda Mexican Grill

I've struggled to find a good Mexican food spot to get a Asada burrito, and well I guess I'm still struggling. I went in and ordered a carne asada burrito. Little did I know that it would literally be an all asada burrito. From experience, you have to specifically order an all meat burrito, which I didn't. I was so disappointed when it didnt have the rice beans and other usual burrito stuff. Was I wrong to assume that it would? This is a first for me, for sure! Lesson learned; NEVER assume when ordering a burrito that it would have rice and beans.

Lucky Thai Street Food
17120 Colima Rd, Hacienda Heights, CA 91745, United States
Lucky Thai Street Food opened for business in mid-July of 2022. Before Lucky opened, Hacienda Heights had not had a Thai restaurant between 2020 and 2022. Before the pandemic in 2020, Hacienda Heights had only one Thai restaurant at the same location, but it permanent closed down when the pandemic started in March 2020. Afterward, I had not been able to find another authentic Thai restaurant in Hacienda Heights or within the 15-minute-drive radius. So Luckys opening has solved the problem of the dearth of authentic Thai restaurants in the vicinity.Luckys menu sticks to classic Thai without any fancy fusion or deviation; (there are two other restaurants in a nearby city that serve fusion or Americanized Thai instead of authentic Thai.) I visited Lucky on its third day of business. I ordered a Tom Yum chicken soup, which was served with a big bowl of white rice and a free Thai coffee or tea. Lucky is still a new business, so I think they are still experimenting with prices, menu items and portion sizes. When I visited the place, its prices are reasonable, the portions are generous (even with the inflation/shrinkflation that has been hitting the economy,) the place is clean, and the staff (which is an immigrant family) is friendly and eager to please.
Hsi Lai Temple
3456 Glenmark Dr, Hacienda Heights, CA 91745, United States
I grew up coming here but ran into a problem this week. We had a larger group of people arrive on bicycles. They werent very good at communicating with us even though we called/emailed them about possibly finding a place to park our bikes.Keep in mind we brought over 60 people on bikes. If we all drove, that would equate to at least 20-30 vehicles/parking spaces. We could easily park within 3-4 parking spaces or the many empty lots around the parking area. Oddly enough, they said those spaces/areas do not belong to the temple. So they belong to L.A. County Parks and Recreation (the temple runs right next to the Portola Hiking/Biking Trail)?Out of respect for the temple regardless of the lack of communication, we parked downhill and walked up. However, about a dozen rode up to see if they can lock up their bikes. They were all told to leave and that bicycles are not allowed. What? This is a parking lot. Their reasoning is that they cannot be held responsible for the bicycles. Well, whats the reasoning behind allowing cars?Ive lived overseas and have biked to temples in China. Its a form of sustainable and healthy transportation. Many people cannot afford to drive a car so a bicycle is another option. It seems that the decision for multiple security guards to come over to tell families and visitors to just leave is not what comes to mind when I visit a place of worship. Its not that I am upset that they dont like people on bikes, Im just unhappy to know that a place of worship that I attend very often thought it was a good idea to turn away visitors without looking at amicable resolutions. It was just easier to tell people to go away. The temple itself already brings tons of traffic and congestion on Hacienda Blvd during holidays. Our goal was to get there on bikes so that we dont contribute to traffic, pollution, and parking issues. Hsi Lai Temple prides themselves in being sustainable, simple, and compassionate. I felt like their reaction to us was not a reflection of that at all.I hope the temple staff review this policy but I seriously doubt it. We all went there to learn more about Chinese culture, Buddhism, and to dine at the buffet. I have since emailed my concerns to the staff via Facebook and email. I have yet to receive any acknowledgement or response.
Akasaka Restaurant
14926 Clark Ave, Hacienda Heights, CA 91745, United States
Quality quality quality. Im a fan of ginger, fresh chilled ginger. Wasabi is well prepared. Cut rolls are a tad to big for my liking. If your crazy about sprouts, they will put them in your cut roll, gives it a slight crunch and freshness . the sushi is made just perfect.my daugters love the miso soup(with extra marshmallows- my daughter eats the tofu and thinks they are marshmallows haha) and best of all they have the dodger games on the TV at the sushi bar !!
Happy Valley Village Shanlitun

It’s very delicious, with 1 giant pot for you and family to share. The soup is rich and the meat/vegetables are hearty. The place is also beautifully decorated that will make you feel like you’re at a real restaurant from China. Will fill bellies of 8 people.
Cocoin Kitchen
3180 Colima Rd # G, Hacienda Heights, CA 91745, United States
Update: So it's been almost a year since my 1 star review earlier below. Decided to try 1 more time & so glad that I did. Changed for the better, the good old family service & friendliness is back & the food is tasty. Ordered Hainan chicken & it was delicious. Looking forward to going again. Saving final star till nxt visit to confirm.-—————Oh my! How things change. Used to come here every week pre-pandemic, but haven't eaten here for a while. Take-out yesterday of my usual Hainan rice was so disappointing. Lady gave me attitude for asking for an xtra side sauce. Said she included 1 & when I asked again she mumbles something about charging & how “things are so expensive now”. Huh?!Don't know what happened. This place used to be family-friendly service & comfort food. Was going to let it go as just a bad day there but then meal was also sad. White meat was soggy & dark meat was tough. That did it. Dropped review to 1 star. Not going back.
Yakiya
17188 Colima Rd, Hacienda Heights, CA 91745, United States
High-End Japanese Restaurant - Yakiya, no Á La Carte only Pre-Fixe menu! They changed the menu from time to time so you might get to try different dishes every time you visit. Located in the same plaza as 85 Degree & Panda Express, you cant really notice the black building, however when you enter the restaurant, you can feel the restaurant owners effort in the interior design, even in the restroom. With a drink, each person pays around $150+, but they are worth it! Each dish is amazingly delicious!I personally love the first two cold dish/appetizer - Crisp Nori Roll with USDA Prime Ribeye & Quail Egg Yolk and A5 New York Strip with Ponzu Jelly. It looks pretty & tastes yummy! Smoked Prime Ribeye is also one of my favorites, if I can order it separately, I would! Chawanmushi is super flavorful and you can taste the seafood inside the egg! Not going over on how amazing each beef dish is, but they are TRULY DELICIOUS! One special thing to mention is the birthday bone marrow shot, my friend got a whiskey shot! Also dont finish your rice too fast, save it until the wagyu with the hot spring egg!Yakiya, a high-end Japanese restaurant located in the Chinese District, does not have a la carte options, only the chefs selected set menu. The meal mix changes from time to time, so you may get a slightly different meal every time you go! In the same square as 85 Degree C and Panda Express, the black building appearance is actually not very eye-catching. Once you enter, you will feel the effort that the restaurant owner has put into the decoration. Even the toilets have a special sense of luxury. I roughly calculated that the entire set meal consisted of about 20 kinds of meals. If you add a drink, it would cost about $150+ per person, but every meal was very delicious, and you can feel the care and attention of the chef team!I really like the appetizers at the beginning: Crisp Nori Roll with USDA Prime Ribeye & Quail Egg Yolk and A5 New York Strip with Ponzu Jelly. The presentation, taste and freshness are all perfect! The smoked Prime Ribeye is also very special and will leave you wanting more! The chawanmushi is very fragrant and full of seafood flavor! I won’t list all the beef dishes one by one, but they are all really delicious! The last thing to mention is that the birthday boy can get a special bone marrow shot, which is very interesting. This time my friend got a whiskey shot! Don’t forget to finish the meal at once. When you have the wagyu and hot spring eggs later, you can eat them together. It’s an unparalleled enjoyment!- Yuzu Juice- Crisp Nori Roll with USDA Prime Ribeye & Quail Egg Yolk- A5 New York Strip with Ponzu Jelly- USDA Prime Ribeye Tataki smoked- Melon Trio with green tea powder-Chawanmushi- Farm Market Vegetable-Beef cheek soup- Angus Beef Tongue- USDA Prime Ribeye Cap- USDA Filet Mignon- American Wagyu short rib- Ponzu Marinated Tomato- A5 Japanese Wagyu- American Wagyu- Bone Marrow Rice- Dessert - Sorbet-Dessert-Chocolate
Garden Fresh Vegan Restaurant
16034 Gale Ave, Hacienda Heights, CA 91745, United States
4 Star. Overall. Nothing looks good. But everything tastes fairly decent. Unattractive and non-addicting in every way, but its a place Ill return to from time to time. Organic, vegan, healthy alternative. But no desire to overeat. That must mean no added MSG. Been here several times. The feel is consistent.3.75 Star. Combo Food Selection* Less than $10 for 4 items combo that comes with soup plus a $0.50 brown rice upgrade (standard comes with white rice). Note to self: order just half-bowl of brown rice upgrade for $0.25 next time. Plenty of rice.* 10 items selection available in total. Options vary daily. May not see the same items next time. Toward the late afternoon, once an item runs out, they do not restock. What you see is what you get.* Some dishes are not salty at all, while some are over salted. Gotta pick the right combo items though, otherwise, the meal doesnt feel complete.* Had a homy taste to it, not something Ill crave for, but at least its healthy and on some days I just need more of it to detox.* My kids dont care for it though. So its hard to feed them here.5 Star. Drinks & Dessert. Organic, healthy, vegan.* Lavender Lemonade was good. Had the lavender look, but only the lemonade taste, sweetened with brown sugar. Plus a few pieces of whole blueberries in the cup. I need to ask for 1/2 the sugar next time.* Vegan Ice Cream was good. But since its soy-based, having too much of this left a funny after-effect on my tongue. Id still buy it next time. Just dont overdose on it.3 Star. Service. Typical nonchalant Taiwanese matter-of-fact style. Come in with this level of expectation and you wont be disappointed. Traffic is surprisingly steady at noon. All the tables filled up by 1 pm. No trash can available in sight. There are a few brown containers toward the back to place your trays & trash (unlabeled). Not used to this, but I respect it.3 Star. Decor. Average unattractive mom-and-pop hole-in-the-wall style. But clean, neat and organized. Menu display can use a makeover though. It seems to be all over the place (wall, counter, paper, regular menu...) and I had to figure my way around whats there to order the first time I came. By the 4th or 5th time, Im still looking around all over the place to figure out what I want to order.2 Star. Parking. Located in a very run-down little plaza with super tight and narrow parking spaces. I always hated parking here with the feeling of possibly scratching parallel cars or bumping into cars behind me while backing out. The tiny plaza needs a renovation.
