New York Bagel Cafe
14423 1/2 Ventura Blvd, Sherman Oaks, CA 91423, United States
Don't get me wrong, these bagels are good, especially for being in LA. My issue is that I was essentially charged double. I ordered an everything bagel with cream cheese (lox cream cheese on one half, jalapeño cream cheese on the other) and an iced latte. According to their prices, that should've cost me around $14 (I originally thought $12, but that's because the person working the register didn't mention that oat milk was $2 more, which I think is a bit ridiculous, but not my main issue here). My total was $22. I thought the price was high, but didn't say anything. When I got home, I checked the prices online and then called to get a rundown of the prices of what I ordered. I was thinking maybe the person who rung me up made a mistake, especially because she kept mentioning her register was being weird. The woman on the phone explained the pricing and told me it was $3+ for each of the cream cheeses. I told her I didn't get two portions, but rather half of each. She then very unkindly said “then I suggest you find a new bagel place”. What a disappointing experience from a place that actually has good bagels. Guess I'll take her suggestion, and I suggest others do the same.
Salata
14006 Riverside Dr Suite 300, Sherman Oaks, CA 91423, United States
Excellent selection of salad ingredients, even though current Covid conditions have made it difficult to keep some ingredients in stock. The pesto chicken was delicious. One complaint; the young man helping me stopped 3/4 of the way through my order to start the next persons order, leaving me to wait for him to put together her 2 salads. I did complain and he did return to my order, but it was really uncomfortable. I actually regret giving him a tip. I will try this place again because the food was really good, and hope I get better service next time..... Went there again recently. The person making my salad stopped in the middle to help someone else, saying Ill be right back. What kind of service is that? Wont be returning again.?

Lentil soup better than at a restaurant, tabouli thats seasoned to perfection, grilled baba ganoush and some of the best hummus Ive ever tasted. I cant wait to try more. Love love love!
Muzen Roll & Boba
14834 Burbank Blvd, Sherman Oaks, CA 91411, United States
This little “hole in the wall” Japanese cafe has the best chicken katsu in LA.Super fresh, light and crispy katsu breading with juicy white breast meat, served in the bowl on soft, warm rice with a side of lettuce salad and topped with pickled and crispy veggies with lotus root slices. It's so simple but so thoughtfully, well made. Truly a little piece of authentic Japan here in a random strip center in Sherman Oaks.I also had a nice warm cup of lightly sweetened Jasmine green tea on a cold day while waiting for my car at the dealer. It's a small storefront that seats about 12 total (4 individual seats + 2 tables of four) and provides a nice, calm ambience, with a very clean and tidy space. Nothing lavish but truly the perfect setting for eating some fresh Japanese home cooking. They also have an assortment of other sushi and Japanese dishes, along with crawfish here.I'll be back again for sure.
Gracefully Fed
13944 Ventura Blvd, Sherman Oaks, CA 91423, United States
Gracefully Fed is an absolute game-changer! I have tried numerous other meal-delivery services, and was always disappointed by the quality, flavor, or originality of meals. This is definitely not the case with Gracefully Fed!I had the pasta chicken sausage and leek as well as the tomato basil. From the actual quality and flavor its clear that these meals are extremely high quality! Im not a big soup fan and I haven't been able to eat pasta in the past 10 years without getting extremely bloated. The soup was amazing and my bloating is now a thing of the past thanks to gracefully Fed!I'm a customer for life!
Spumoni Restaurant
14533 Ventura Blvd, Sherman Oaks, CA 91403, United States
My son and his girlfriend recommended for me to try this restaurant the other day. They said they went there for a small snack. So we ordered for take out....What a disappointment1. Bread, dry, old We even when we tried to toast it to bring back some life to it....we placed in right into the trash. It wasn’t even bird worthy!2. Soup: it came hot but over salted and the broth tasted like it had been hanging out for days...down the garage disposal!!!!3 Caesar salad. I thought a Caesar salad had fresh crisp lettuce with dressing, croutons and fresh parm ! This one came wilted lettuce and a piece of dried bread ( I guess that was the crouton) and let’s not forget the cheese from a bottle.4. Spaghetti and two dry heavy meatballs that were a little gamy to the taste buds. We could not eat them at all. The sauce was sparse and over salted which made it impossible to eat. We ended up throwing our meal away and sending out for pizza. We couldn’t believe our experience and was hopeful each time we tried the next entree.Save your money and your time.
The Joint Seafood and Coffee
13718 Ventura Blvd, Sherman Oaks, CA 91423, United States
UDATE:Since the pandemic they pretty much had stopped being a restaurant, on top of being a great coffee spot and the best seafood place in LA (in my opinion). I cant tell you how much I miss all the amazing food I used to get there, including, of course, my favorite clam chowder ANYWHERE.But now, they are serving really incredible hand rolls for lunch and dinner four or five days a week (I cant remember exactly)But all I can say after scarfing down about 9 of their amazing hand rolls is: move over Kazu Nori. For $32 you get 6 delicious hand rolls. An incredible deal for the quality of the seafood.Great fresh fish thats dry aged. I had the Black Cod with the Kale and Potatoes, which was excellent. But the Clam Chowder is the best Ive had and Im from New England, the heart of Chowder country, Cape Cod to be specific. This is the chowder I would make if i was a gourmet chef. I know a lot of people like a thick chowder with lots of potatoes, Im not one of them. I think it takes away from that incredible clam flavor. They make it with a light broth, a touch of dairy, leeks, and about 20 whole clams. NO POTATOES. I cant tell you how hard it is to find a chowder with no potatoes, let alone no flour added to increase the thickness. I cant wait to go back to get this chowder. I ended the meal with a delicious homemade cookie and cold brewed oat milk latte. Im really looking forward to trying their calamari, fish tacos, lobster roll, and oysters on the half shell. I might just have to go back tomorrow. So, Ive been back a few times now and everything Ive had is really amazing. I bought a lb. of their house smoked salmon to bring to a Super Bowl Party (Another great Pats win) and heated it at 360 for 5 minutes, like they told me to, and it was fantastic. Ive also had their lobster rolls, which were very good, and the grilled shrimp which was excellent, and also the crudo, which was great, but the outstanding dish here, above all else, is the scallops. I cant wait to go back for them. This is now my go to seafood place. Everything Ive had is worth going back for.
Malama Pono Restaurant
13355 Ventura Blvd, Sherman Oaks, CA 91423, United States
I never write reviews, but Malama Pono was so exceptional that I felt compelled to rave. Every aspect of this restaurant was immaculate. The staff was extremely kind and welcoming right from the start, and everything only got better from there. The ambiance was dark but warm, quiet but lively; I cant think of a more comfortable atmosphere. The service was extraordinary. Every server was kind, attentive, and professional. What really blew me away was how perfectly they timed everything. In our party of 4, two people shared the tasting menu for 2 (5 courses) while the other two people had a starter and entree each; something I have to imagine is difficult to coordinate, yet every dish came out precisely when it was meant to. No one ever felt like they were rushed or needed to slow down. The service was just paced absolutely flawlessly. The food is what really blew me away. For my palate, this was far from my comfort zone. Almost everything I ate was for the first time, and Im worried they set the bar impossibly high. Every dish was just divine. The plating was beautiful and inviting, the flavors were outstanding, and everything was cooked to perfection. You could taste the passion that went into every plate. This place is an absolute 10/10. These people care deeply about their establishment, and it shows in every aspect of the dining experience. My one complaint is that I live 2686 miles from what was likely the best restaurant I have ever been to.

This place is a Gem in Sherman Oaks area... i am working in an office nearby and ive been craving for some teriyaki bowl.. i miss OMGRILL but its far from where i work now and their prices are not even worth it anymore.. so anyways i tried this spot thinking that if i will not like it here i will just try another spot until i find one... and then here it is.. just one try and i fell in love.. service was very quick and i love how the lady owner/manager is very jolly with anyone.. i mean you go there not to just have good food but also good experience and good customer service.. and their prices are ridiculously cheap! you wont see anything in their menu that is more than $10 except one thing.. their Korean bbq... i cant say anything yet because i havent tried it.. but it may be good! I introduced this to my co-workers and now every time i go to lunch they always ask me if im going out to get some teriyaki goodness because they want some too! Definitely recommended!
