Istanbul Grill California - Mediterranean Resta...
18010 Newhope St Suite D, Fountain Valley, CA 92708, United States
Today I received a request from a client to try out this place called Istanbul Grill California Mediterranean Restaurant. Last month I was vising Athens Greece and Istanbul and loved the food there. I have to say I was excited First thing I did was to look at the reviews online and they look very promising. Google reviews 4.6 out of 5 rating is a very good rating and I was excited to make a trip to Fountain Valley California where this establishment is located.I arrived at the location on Sunday at 1pm. The restaurant is located in a plaza on the corner of Talbert and Newhope. You can eat indoors or outdoors. The food prices are on the high side. I ordered the chargrilled lamb chops, it came with 4 chops with rice pilaf and seasoned veggies. Before my meal came out they served me some pita bread with a spread. The lamb came first and I have to say the lamb was bland, the rice and veggies were just ok. For that price you would definitely want the Lamb to be the star of the plate, unfortunately they missed the mark on this dish. The next dish I ordered was the Istanbul Kebab plate which serves 2 people. This plate comes with chicken shish, doner( gyro) chicken adana and adana kebabs served with rice and veggies. Everything on this plate needed more seasoning and the chicken was dry. At this point I have spent enough to make my review. I would have to say, you can spend your hard earned money elsewhere, I hade similar dishs last month in Istanbul and the taste was so much better and the cost for something similar was around 280 lira which around $ 11usd. I know I should not compare the dish to the old country but for that price you should be close to the same taste. I know a hand full of place in southern California that is less expensive and will have you licking your fingers after you eat the lamb chops.

Elaborating on my horrible service from the owner Melanie.. I was told although I paid $54 for my package, UPS has insurance for up to $50. Melanie chuckled when I asked why I was not getting a full refund, oh the $4?, lol. I dont know. I asked how long would I have to wait to get my refund, again I dont know... I call UPS during work hours and the operator said it was a 1-2 wait time. All I wanted was for her to put in a reorder so my family could receive fresh dessert, not a refund.. She talked louder and louder over my words and said I would have to go back online and resubmit all my information to place a new order (yet she had all the order and shipping information in her system). It was just flat out mean that she refused to refund my money or replace the order, all the while speaking to me very condescendingly, oh sweetie did you see the news that there was a hurricane? Honey did you know a natural disaster happened? Sweetie did you know post offices were destroyed with the weather? I replied Umm yes I did know and it was 3 hours from where my family lives. I informed her my mom works for the post office (not ups) and there were no discrepancies or disruptions with her mailing system. She replied well why dont you ask your mom where the package is?... Melanie, you are belittling and insensitive (despite your clever company name). You couldve been a nice and decent person to resend the items or provide the refund. BTW, I never tasted your desserts but based on your other reviews about the cakes and cookies being nasty and inedible, my family and I are not missing out.. Everything happens for a reason. Ill get my refund back and youll still be negative and unapproachable, (with nasty food items).

What can I say this is the best vegan/vegetarian restaurants in LA & Orange County. The owner was there talking to everyone, answering questions, very nice lady.

Ikes Love & Sandwiches
18529 Brookhurst St, Fountain Valley, CA 92708, United States
Be prepared to pay close to $11.00 (yes eleven) with tax for a cold-cut sandwich. I find this to be outrageous for a sub sandwich. And that does NOT include chips or drink. And if you want to add a little something extra on your sandwich such as advocado, add another couple bucks to the already overpriced sandwich. The ONLY way I will go back to Ikes is if I have a half-off coupon. Otherwise, I refuse to pay $10.00 PLUS TAX for a cold-cut (sliced turkey lunch meat) sandwhich. The sandwhich I got was tasty I must say. I got the Going Home For Thanksgiving sandwich which was sliced turkey with cranberry sauce (the cranberry was similar to canned cranberry sauce - not homemade). As tasty as it was, however, it is similar to the old Togos Sandwhich shops if you were familiar with them. Almost identical to that type of cold lunch meat sandwhich.Ikes owners, if you are reading this, you really do need to cut your sandwhich prices in half if you want to survive in a city that sees fast food places go out of business often.

Taste of Beauty

This is rare find for pretty healthy yummy and vegetarian restaurant. Located in the heart of Fountain Valley, the restaurant will be open to public soon. The foods are presented with unique flower arrangements which makes the dining experience so pleasant. The food is served in a preset menu:1. Pearl fresh - the soup in pot with assorted mushrooms, bamboo fungus, oolong tea leaves, and quail eggs2. Pink blossom - dragon fruit, pear and apple cold salad3. Hou kui tea tempura4. Soft jade - soft tofu salad5. Matsutake wonton6. Lakeside treasure - lotus root7. The best stuntman - steak mushroom that tasted like steak8. Potato love story - salt egg yolk with the red little heart on top (aww, it melts my heart)9. Special dish not on the menu: Secret of a lady - so beautiful10. Desserts: silver age - tofu, pumpkin and coconut creamThis is a brand new concept in town that I’m very excited to have the honor to try their menu before the soft opening. The place is designed to have the relaxing and elegant vibe to the tea lovers. From the plates and utensils to the tea pots, everything is cute!I enjoy this tea pairing with food so much that it gives me the beauty and healthy in every tea sips. Tea pairing: pair the light flavored (green pot) tea first and increase the flavor (pink pot) as we go along the dishes. Pink pot tea has whiskey flavor, so unique. Each dish has its own story behind the ingredients and presentation that makes the dish very meaningful. The elements are healthy and pretty which makes I feel the same eating the food here. Vegetarian meals are healthy for me as I consume and also healthy for not killing any animals. Everything is meaningful.

Taco Bell

Food tasted like it usually does, it was fresh, young man at drive thru seemed super stoned but he was polite....he took my order correctly unfortunately when I received my food it was wrong. I asked for no lettuce, so I went back but inside with my receipt. Girl who helped me at the counter was happy to make me two doritos tacos supreme-no lettuce. When she very quickly handed me my corrected order I double checked and asked her if they were supreme no lettuce she said I didnt order supreme....I then asked her for my receipt back, she got it for me from the food prep counter where she left it to correct my order. She realized i did order supreme....so she took the tacos back and added tomatoes and sour cream...even though my rather simple order was wrong two times the staff were friendly and willing to get me what I ordered. Their customer service makes up for the order being incorrect.

Literally just left this place. Place was clean. The name of the guy that took our order (according to the receipt was J- rod, Im wondering if its the guy joe other reviews were raving about). He wasnt very welcoming, he acted as if he wanted us to hurry up and order. I overlooked that because I really wanted to try the food and was hungry. We sat there as 4 other customers (1 lady and a group of 3) who ordered after us all got their food before us. J-rod kept just looking at us along with the cooks, yet did not attempt to show great customer service by giving us an update on our food. Just decided to talk, stare at me and continue looking into his personal phone as well. We finally got our order and I asked for a container and why we got our food after 4 other customers who ordered after us. He ignored that question and told me, containers are on the side, take as many as you need with a smirk on his face. I asked him for an additional dressing, he says 0.75. I told him fine, he then says oh its actually $1 something but Ill go ahead and give it to you for 0.75 like he was doing me a favor. I told him Ill pay the price, youre the one who told me 0.75 that was your miscommunication and you still havent even attempted to tell me why we got our food last he just continued in a condescending tone, ignored my concern and didnt answer and told me to have a good day. His customer service towards me was condescending and disappointing and I left definitely not wanting to come back to that location. I will say though, a young lady named Cecilia was nice and I do appreciate her service and kindness towards me. The food was also delicious. I like to feel respected and appreciated as a customer so Ill stick to giving the other locations a try next time. Definitely will not come back to this location. Will advise co workers, friends and Family as well.

After our recent travels to Istanbul, we were craving for some good Turkish food and spotted this place during our errands and decided to add to our “try next” list and I'm so happy we stopped by and was welcomed by the owner/staff and helped with some recommendations and even got to sample a few of their proteins prior to deciding our dishes. We ended up getting the shrimp bowl and the beef bowl and wow the amount of serving was an ample portion. Better servings than pre-chipotle times I'd say(iykyk). The bowls were packed with so many great and different flavors. I am a sauce girl so I had to drench my bowl with the garlic and hot sauce they provided. ?As Turkish traditions goes, there's complimentary Turkish tea available for after you finish your meal (to aid in digestion) and it was such a nostalgic feeling having tea after every meal in Turkey to be made available. We chatted briefly with the owner about our visit in Turkey and how we enjoyed visiting some of the famous sites and enjoying all the amazing food Turkey has to offer and how the food reminded us of it. If you ever want to try Turkish food, you must come here for that homely, street food experience.Thank you for the amazing food again!! Can't wait to visit again soon ?

Pho Nic
17860 Newhope St # 106, Fountain Valley, CA 92708, United States
First visit and was happy, at first, the Pho was great. BUT, to me it is not only about the food, it is also about the services and most importantly the sanitation. Overall, is clean in the front, not sure about the back. However, a major problem for me was how the waiters/waitresses handled our food. They wear gloves, but I think for their own protection, NOT much for the customers. We noticed the waiter/waitress wore the same gloves the entire time we were dining in, and the worst was that they picked up things dropped on the floors, gloves touched the floors, and then went right back to carry our food bowl/plate with that same dirty gloves! I hope the owner(s) see this feedback and retrain their servers how to always keep their hands/or gloves sanitary by either washing hands or changing gloves immediately after touching anything dirty like cleaning rags or picking up things from the floor, before touching the customers bowls of food.Until I know they do this, I can not return because I dont want to get sick. I hope everyone at the restaurant takes this matter seriously for the sake of public health. Thank you.
